Abstract:
Continuous Changing of human lifestyles has consistently added different notorious anthropogenic pollutants into aquatic matrices. Exterminating these toxic pollutants is feasible using adsorption studies instead of the traditional water purification methods. The purpose of this study was to investigate the adsorption of Cr (VI) ion from aqueous using Unmodified Desert Date (UDD) Peels as a low-cost adsorbent and composite with multi-walled carbon nanotubes (UDDC). A batch adsorption experiment was conducted to evaluate the maximum quantity adsorbed of Cr (VI) ions from an aqueous medium under various conditions. The Fourier-Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) revealed 3448.84 cm-1 and 3441.12 cm-1 which corresponds to O-H stretching vibration modes for UDD and UDDC and 1620.26 cm-1 relates to C=O stretching vibrations for both UDD and UDDC respectively. The maximum adsorption capacity (qe) is found to be 114.11 and 741.14 (mg/g) for UDD and UDDC respectively. The results showed that UDDC has a large adsorption capacity due to its higher surface area. The adsorption data were fitted well into Langmuir with correlation coefficient (R2) values close to unity 0.9076 and 0.9069 for UDD and UDDC respectively. Kinetic studies showed a good correlation coefficient pseudo-second-order kinetic model fitted very well into UDD and UDDC with (R2) values 0.9173 and 0.9943 respectively. The results indicated that UDDC could be used as a potential adsorbent for the adsorption of Cr (VI) ions from an aqueous solution

Abstract:
Six 'Chinese Spring' – Aegilops umbellulata Zhuk. addition lines (UAD, UBD, UCD, UDD, UED, and UFM) were assayed for their effects on the fertility of timopheevi cytoplasm male sterile lines (T-type). Chromosome 6U of disomic addition line UAD was found to be able to restore the fertility of T-type male sterility and 'Chinese Spring' was verified to lack restoring genes, indicating that 6U carries at least one fertility restoration gene. From about 200 plants with 42 somatic chromosomes derived from the progeny of crosses Qu Xian Early A × UAD and Sumai No. 3 A × UAD, eight self-fertile plants were selected. Their self-fertility in timopheevi cytoplasm implies that they carry the restoring gene(s) from 6U. Cytological analysis was conducted on the hybrid F1 of the selected fertile plants (040-5, 060-1, and 061-4) as female parents crossed with 'Chinese Spring'. The self-fertility segregation and the chromosome pairing of pollen mother cells of F1 fertile plants from 040-5, 060-1, and 061-4 × 'Chinese Spring' during meiosis suggested that they were heterozygous translocation lines with restoring gene(s) from 6U.Key words: Aegilops umbellulata Zhuk., restoring genes, alien gene transfer, timopheevi cytoplasmic male sterile fertility, Triticum aestivum L.

Abstract:
Abstract Background Epidemiological studies demonstrate an association between diabetes and low neuromuscular strength (NMS). However, none have grouped participants into nondiabetics (ND), undiagnosed diabetics (UDD), controlled diabetics (CD), and uncontrolled diabetics (UCD) or investigated what glycated hemoglobin levels (HbA1c) are associated with low NMS (dynapenia) by sex. Methods We analyzed the association between UDD, CD, and UCD and dynapenia, the extent to which the different groupings of these individuals modifies this association and the association between HbA1c levels and NMS, by sex, in a cross-sectional study involving 5,290 participants ≥50 years from the ELSA study. In the first two analyses, logistic regression models were used with dynapenia (grip strength <26 kg in men and <16 kg in women) as outcome and diabetes (ND, UDD, CD, and UCD) as exposure. Next, linear regression was performed with grip strength as the outcome, and the participants were classified based on HbA1c level as exposure. The models were adjusted by sociodemographic, behavioral, and clinical characteristics. Results Compared to ND, only UCD was associated with dynapenia (men OR = 2.37 95% CI 1.36–4.14; women OR = 1.67 95% CI 1.01–2.79). This association was less clear, particularly in women, when CD and UCD groups were merged. HbA1c ≥6.5% in men and ≥8.0% in women were associated with lower NMS. Conclusions UCD increases the chance of dynapenia in both sexes. The different groupings based on diabetes status modify the association between UCD and dynapenia. The threshold of HbA1c associated with reduced NMS is lower in men compared to women.

Abstract:
Radiation protection ability of the ultra-disperse nanodiamonds (UDD) is studied based on the measurements of dielectric permittivity of red blood cells (RBC) affected by cancer. Wistar rats with Guerin's carcinoma were treated by X-ray 5.8 Gy. Some rats received UDD with food during 5 days prior to the X-ray. The groups with UDD, X-ray, and both UDD and X-ray treatments were compared to the control group. The complex dielectric permittivity of the RBC was measured by microwave dielectrometry. It was shown, tumor development leads to the increase in the dielectric permittivity and relaxation frequency. The irradiation promotes further growth of the parameters, while UDD uptake leads to insignificant changes in comparison to the control group. Therefore, UDD occur the radioprotective effect promoting repair, compensation and restoration of body tissues that is demonstrated by normalization of the dielectric parameters of RBC.

Abstract:
Background/Aim. Uncomplicated diverticular disease (UDD) is a frequent condition in adults. The pathogenesis of symptoms remains unknown. Bacteria are able to interact with Toll-like receptors (TLRs) and to induce inflammation through both innate immunity and T-cell recruitment. We investigated the pattern of TLRs 2 and 4 and the intestinal homing in patients with UDD before and after a course of Rifaximin.Methods. Forty consecutive patients with UDD and 20 healthy asymptomatic subjects were enrolled. Among UDD patients, 20 were assigned to a 2-month course of treatment with Rifaximin 1.2 g/day for 15 days/month and 20 received placebo. Blood sample and colonic biopsies were obtained from patients and controls. The samples were collected and analyzed at baseline and at the end of treatment. Flow cytometry was performed using monoclonal antibodies (CD3, CD4, CD8, CD103, TCR-gamma/delta, CD14, TLR2, and TLR4).Results. In UDD, TLR2 and TLR4 expression on immune cell subpopulations from blood and mucosa of the affected colon are altered as compared with controls. Rifaximin treatment induced significant modifications of altered conditions.Conclusions. Our data show the role of TLRs in the development of inflammation in UDD. TLRs distribution is altered in UDD and these alterations are reversed after antibiotic treatment. This trial is registered with ClinicalTrials.gov:NCT02068482.

Abstract:
BackgroundDepression in the context of bipolar disorder (BDd) is often misdiagnosed as unipolar disorder depression (UDd) leading to poor clinical outcomes for many bipolar sufferers. We examined neural circuitry supporting emotion regulation in females with either BDd or UDd as a first stage toward identifying biomarkers that may differentiate BDd from UDd.MethodFifty-seven females aged 18–45 years participated in this study: 23 with UDd, 18 with bipolar disorder type I depression (BDId) and 16 healthy females. During 3-T functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), the participants performed an emotional face n-back (EFNBACK) task, that is an n-back task with high (2-back) and low (0-back) memory load conditions flanked by two positive, negative or neutral face distracters. This paradigm examines executive control with emotional distracters–emotion regulation.ResultsHigh memory load with neutral face distracters elicited greater bilateral and left dorsal anterior midcingulate cortex (dAMCC) activity in UDd than in healthy and BDId females respectively, and greater bilateral putamen activity in both depressed groups versus healthy females. High memory load with happy face distracters elicited greater left putamen activity in UDd than in healthy females. Psychotropic medication was associated with greater putamen activity to these contrasts in UDd females.ConclusionsDuring high memory load with neutral face distracters, elevated dAMCC activity in UDd suggests abnormal recruitment of attentional control circuitry to maintain task performance, whereas elevated putamen activity unrelated to psychotropic medication in BDId females may suggest an attentional bias toward ambiguous neutral face distracters. Differential patterns of functional abnormalities in neural circuitry supporting attentional control during emotion regulation, especially in the dAMCC, is a promising neuroimaging measure to distinguish UDd from BDId in females.

Abstract:
The diffusion coefficient of gases in coal varies with time. This study aims to develop an unsteady dynamic diffusion (UDD) model based on the decay of diffusion coefficient with time and the change of integral. This study conducted a series of gas desorption and diffusion experiments with three different combinations of particle sizes and gas pressures and compared the diffusion coefficients of the three models. The UDD model exhibited good fitting results, and both the UDD and bidisperse models fitted the experimental data better than the unipore model. In addition, the dynamic diffusion coefficient (DDe) decreased rapidly in the initial stage but gradually decreased to a stable level in the later stage. All the effective diffusion coefficients of the three models negatively correlated with the particle size. In the unipore model, the diffusion coefficient of coal samples with three particle sizes increased with gas pressure. In the bidisperse and UDD models, the diffusion coefficients (Dae, Die, and DDe) of 0.25–0.5 mm and 0.5–1.0 mm coal samples increased with gas pressure. However, DDe and Dae of 1.0–1.25 mm coal samples increased first and then decreased. Furthermore, Die decreased first and then increased, with no sign of significant pressure dependence. Finally, the correlation and significance between the constant and diffusion coefficient in the UDD model was investigated.

Elemental aluminum (Al) powders reinforced with 1–10 wt% of ultra-dispersed nanodiamond (UDD) powders were ball-milled in a SpexTM Mixer/Mill between 0 and 120 min followed by consolidation and sintering. X-ray diffraction analyses on the ball-milled powders revealed only α-Al peaks, whereas Al4C3 phase was identified along with α-Al in all sintered composites. Increasing the addition of nanodiamond to Al-matrix resulted in improved hardness of both ball-milled and sintered composites. The wear resistances of the Al-UDD composites were significantly improved with increasing UDD contents. Under similar load and sliding conditions, the wear resistance of Al matrix composite containing 10 wt% nanodiamond enhances about 40 times when compared with unreinforced aluminum.

Abstract:
Ultrasound-mediated DNA delivery (UDD) is a technique that utilizes ultrasound to aid the transfer of genetic materials into bacterial cells of interest (either in their planktonic or biofilm modes), resulting in new functionalities being displayed by the target microorganisms in-situ. The physical mechanism of UDD is poorly understood, which hampers its widespread adoption and scaling. To investigate the role of cavitation in UDD, we utilized a static pressure vessel designed to suppress cavitation while leaving other acoustic effects unaltered. Pseudomonas putida UWC1, a soil bacterium that is not naturally competent, was suspended in water and exposed to 40 kHz burst-mode ultrasound (400 cycle burst, 10 Hz repetition frequency, 60 s total) at an ambient pressure of either 1 bar or 9.5 bars. Noise diagnostics yielded inertial cavitation levels and transformed cells were quantified using a doubly selective reporter plasmid DNA. Samples exposed at 9.5 bars overpressure exhibited a drastic reduction in both cavitation activity and the number of transformed cells compared to those exposed at 1 bar. (Cell viability was not affected by pressure change.) The fact that transformation rates are reduced significantly when cavitation is suppressed suggests that acoustic cavitation is the major contributing factor in UDD.

Abstract:
Insurance aims to protect a person from financial losses that may occur due to an unexpected event. On the determination of insurance premiums used mortality tables. However, on the mortality table contains only a round age. While an event cannot be ascertained when it occurs, it could be at the beginning of the year, in the middle, or at the end of the year. Therefore, to determine insurance premiums at an age that is not round, a mortality table that contains fractional age is needed. In this study, the mortality table used is the 2019 Indonesian Mortality Table (IMT) issued by the Indonesian Actuary Association (IAA). The methods used for determining fractional age mortality tables are the Uniform Distribution of Death (UDD) approach and the Constant Force of Mortality (CF) approach. In this study, the results of the 2019 TMI calculation were obtained for fractional ages with male and female genders using two approaches, namely the UDD and CF approaches. In both sexes, the result was obtained that the chance of death calculated using the UDD approach was smaller compared to the CF approach. The resulting graph shows that the 2019 TMI death chances with the UDD and CF approaches did not show significant differences for both men and women, so both approaches can be used to calculate the chance of death at the fractional age of TMI 2019.

Abstract:
Ball screw is a very important element in precision machine industry. It has a lot of superior characteristics such as low friction coefficient, long life, high positioning accuracy and as well as converting rotational motion to linear motion. Therefore, the lubricant used in the ball screw should be low friction and wear in order to meet the aims of the above mentioned properties. The ultra-dispersed nanodiamond (UDD) is dispersed in the dispersant. The UDD is served as an extreme pressure additive in the test grease that is applied to the ball screw. Four-ball extreme pressure tests and bearing life tests were conducted in this study to evaluate the extreme pressure performance and durability enhancement of the test grease. The four-ball test results showed that the optimum selection of the dispersant category, UDD mean particle diameter and concentration added to the test grease provided by the cooperated ball screw manufacturer in this study are OLA, 200 nm and 100 ppm, respectively.

Abstract:
In this paper, we first present a brief derivation of the dynamical decoupling condition by means of designing control Hamiltonians, which is used to preserve arbitrary quantum states in the case of interactions with environment. According to different time intervals between the adjacent pulses, two important dynamical decoupling schemes: periodic dynamical decoupling (PDD) and Uhrig dynamical decoupling (UDD) are analyzed. Based on the comparison between PDD and UDD, we propose our optimized dynamical decoupling scheme with different time intervals between adjacent pulses which follow a normal distribution. At last numerical simulations are carried out in a three-level atom in Ξ -configuration, we select the non-diagonal element of density matrix as a reference index to compare the performances of suppressing the decoherence of these three strategies, and the results indicate that dynamical decoupling strategy proposed has better performances than that of PDD and UDD have under some low range of the loss of the quantum coherence.

Abstract:
The Indonesian Red Cross is a national association organization in Indonesia that is engaged in the social and humanitarian field. One of PMI's main activities is blood donation. Currently, in handling the need for blood donors, UDD PMI Banyumas Regency has a system that helps in the donor process, namely SIMDONAR. SIMDONAR is an information system from the central IT provided to UDD PMI Banyumas Regency in the operation of blood donors, but in some aspects of blood donation, such as donor recording and notification of donor scheduling to donors, there is still no available so that it can run efficiently. Data collection in the blood donor history recording system still cannot be recorded properly, causing donors to also not be able to know the history of the last donor, when and how many times the donor has donated, there is also no notification of blood donor scheduling for donors, this makes the information conveyed to donors is incomplete so that donors are confused in taking action when to donate again. Therefore, to support the smooth running of the blood donor system, it is necessary to rebuild an appropriate information system that can provide a solution for the process of recording blood donation history at UDD PMI Banyumas Regency. The purpose of this system is to provide accurate and efficient information related to blood donation history records, and scheduling notifications to officers and donors. The benefit of this system is that it helps provide information related to donor history records for UDD PMI Banyumas Regency so that they can find out donor history records from donors, also helps donors to find out donor history or how many times the donor has donated blood. In this case, the system development method uses the prototype model method. Based on the results of the benefit test, the average value of the Efficiency value is 98.33%, the Usability value is 94.33%, the Correctness value is 95.56%, the Integrity value is 96.67%, and the Testability value is 96.67%. From the results of the benefit test, it can be concluded that the development of this system can be applied and used to facilitate the process of recording blood donor history and notification of blood donor scheduling at UDD PMI Banyumas Regency.

Abstract:
AbstractThis paper presents a practical multi-level performance-based optimisation method of nonlinear viscous dampers (NVDs) for seismic retrofit of existing substandard steel frames. A Maxwell model is adopted to simulate the behaviour of the combined damper-supporting brace system, with a fractional power-law force–velocity relationship for the NVDs, while a distributed-plasticity fibre-based section approach is used to model the beam-column members thus incorporating the nonlinearity of the parent steel frame in the design process. The optimum height-wise distribution of the damping coefficients of NVDs satisfying given performance requirements is identified via a uniform damage distribution (UDD) design philosophy. The efficiency of the proposed multi-level performance-based design optimisation is illustrated through nonlinear time-history analysis of 3-, 7- and 12-storey steel frames under both artificial and natural spectrum-compatible earthquakes. Sensitivity analysis is performed to investigate the effects of initial height-wise damping distribution, convergence factor and uncertainty in design ground-motion prediction on the optimisation strategy. The efficiency of the final optimum design solution is also investigated by using drift-based, velocity-based, and energy-based UDD approaches to identify the most efficient performance index parameter for optimisation purposes. It is found that regardless of the selected performance parameter, the optimum damping distribution identified by the proposed methodology leads to frames exhibiting lower maximum inter-storey drift, local damage (maximum plastic rotation) and global damage index compared to an equal-cost uniform damping distribution. However, using drift-based UDD approach generally results in a better seismic performance. It is shown that the proposed UDD optimisation method can be efficiently used to satisfy multiple performance objectives at different intensity levels of the earthquake excitation, in line with performance-based design recommendations of current seismic codes. The proposed method is easy to implement for practical design purposes and represents a simple yet efficient tool for optimum seismic retrofit of steel frames with NVDs.

Abstract:
Silicon wafer is machined by diamond cutting tools to certain extent, the cutting tool currently used is polycrystalline diamond (PCD). However, as its cutting edges are not leveled to the same height, it will produce different depth of cut and the stress distribution is uneven on wafer surfaces, in the process of wafer thinning, both the workpiece and the cutting tool are probably damaged, this will increase the production cost accordingly. In this paper, a strategy is described to improve the ability of cutting tool for wafer thinning, a cutting tool named Ultimate Diamond Disk (UDD) designed by Taiwan Wheel Company is recommended, which can reduce both the crack of workpiece and the wear speed of cutting tool. Moreover, an experiment on base of different machining parameters including rotation speed of spindle, feed rate and depth of cut was tested and discussed. As a result, the removal mode of workpiece material and the wafer thinning characteristics of UDD are obtained.

Abstract:
Abstract The standard treatment of nonmuscle invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC) is transurethral resection of the tumors, followed by intravesical therapy (IT), which comprises a direct instillation of a solution of Bacillus Calmette-Guérin vaccine or chemotherapy into the bladder. However, the recurrence rate in this disease remains unacceptably high. IT is a local treatment that fails to reach tumors developed in the upper urinary tract (ureter and renal pelvis). The catheterization procedure required for IT is invasive, painful, and poses an increased infection risk, resulting in poor patient quality of life and compliance. There is an unmet need for a potent, comprehensive, and noninvasive option. Without chemical modifications, peptides are rapidly removed by renal clearance. This “shortcoming” can be advantageous when used as a drug carrier for directing therapy to NMIBC. Here we develop a urinary drug-disposing (UDD) approach to improve NMIBC treatment. A 12-amino acid bio-inert peptide (Bdd) that can be exclusively eliminated via renal filtration was generated for delivering the microtubule inhibitor DM1 to NMIBC with minimal nonspecific accumulation in other organs. The UDD approach prolonged survival of mice bearing human bladder tumors. Unlike IT, the treatment was given noninvasively (intravenously). Furthermore, it was more effective at suppressing tumor growth than clinically used IT (mitomycin) and safer than free DM1. The application of this UDD approach to treat kidney tumors and deliver other drugs such as doxorubicin was also demonstrated. Overall, the rapid renal clearance of peptides can be exploited to direct cancer therapies to the urinary system. Significance: A noninvasive drug delivery approach that targets the urinary system overcomes the current barriers facing effective treatment of bladder cancer.

Abstract:
Anodizing of aluminum and its alloys is widely used in various fields of science and technology. The process of modifying porous anodic aluminum oxide with ultradispersed diamond (UDD) particles to improve the mechanical characteristics of coatings requires additional study. UDD was modified by consistent heat treatment at 40 °C and 120 °C. The results of the UDD surface modification were controlled by IR spectroscopy. The surface state analysis was carried out using the PMT-3 microhardnessmeter, the SolverPro P47 atomic-force microscope (AFM), and the experimental probe-electrometry device. One of the ways to improve the mechanical characteristics of such coatings is the use of ultradispersed diamonds with respective pretreatment of their surface. The article presents the results of a study of the influence of additives of ultradispersed diamonds with different functional surface composition in an acid electrolyte to form coatings of porous anodic alumina on the surface of AMg-2 aluminum alloy substrates by electrochemical oxidation. An increase in the microhardness and wear resistance of anodic oxide coatings formed on aluminum alloy substrates after various post-growth heat treatments is noted. It is shown that using a combined method based on doping anodic alumina in the process of synthesis with modified ultradispersed diamonds and post-growth annealing of the coatings obtained in vacuum at T = 500 °C, it is possible to obtain a composite material that is 2 times higher in hardness and 3 times higher in wear resistance compared to the initial coating. The research results can be used to create a new generation of radiation-resistant heat-removing bases, nano and micromechanical devices, elements of passive and active electronics, high-quality parts for spacecraft and satellites on modern composite materials.

Abstract:
Background: The rampant use of antimicrobials in poultry farms is creating a global public health threat as antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in humans may arise from such practice. This study was conducted with the objective of quantification and hence assessment of the level of antimicrobial use in Pakistani poultry farms so that appropriate utilization of such agents can be assured. Methods: Six randomly selected poultry farms of Pakistan with ten production cycles with 20,000- 30,000 birds in every production cycle were selected for the study from 2018 to 2019. The average dosage utilized on-farm was described by the defined daily dose (DDD) and used daily dose (UDD). Results: It was found that enrofloxacin, amoxicillin, doxycycline, tylocin, and lincomycin were the antimicrobials commonly used by all poultry farms. However, only Enrofloxacin (UDD/DDD = 0.95) was being used within the rational therapeutic range. All the antimicrobials were used irrationally without proper indication and suggestion by the veterinarian. No records on antimicrobials use were found on any farm. Conclusion: The irrational use of antimicrobials in poultry farms may lead to antimicrobial resistance which has been a global public health threat. The speedy action should be implemented to discourage such rampant use of drugs in poultry farms in Pakistan and countries with similar farming practices for the effective use of antimicrobials in the proper indication.

Abstract:
Syphilis is a disease caused by Treponema pallidum. Syphilis could transmit through sexual intercourse, and can also occur in the vertical direction from the mother to the fetus, through blood products and, in some cases, through medical equipment. Among those, blood transfusions are the main way to spread the disease. WHO estimates that more than 1 million people worldwide are diagnosed with 4,444 sexually transmitted diseases daily. This study was using total 51351 blood sample obtained from blood donor in 2020 and 2021 in Blood Donor Unit (UDD PMI) Bojonegoro. The aim in this study was to find the prevalence of syphilis cases occurred in Blood Donor Unit (UDD PMI) Bojonegoro. This finding may have implication to increase people awareness in syphilis. This study was used descriptive study with cross sectional design and conducted by using cross tabulation as statistical analysis. The data showed that there was slight increase with 0.12% and 0.16% cases of confirmed syphilis in 2020 and 2021 respectively (P = 0,174). Total cases from 51351 blood samples, 71 (0,14%) blood samples were positive for syphilis. The highest cases in 2020 was occurred in January (7 cases) and highest cases in 2021 was occurred in October (13 cases). The conclusion of this study showed that the prevalence of syphilis was low in this study. Even though the percentage might be below 1% in this study, it is still a significant transfusion problem in blood donation quality purpose to be overcomed.

The utilization and decomposition of chlorinated wastes without formation of dioxins are challenges of great environmental importance. In this work, the catalytic reductive methods of chlorinated organics processing are described, focusing on catalyst development. Pd-containing catalysts are improved by modification of supports [use of ultra dispersed diamond (UDD) or double oxides] or by dilution of Pd by not-noble metals (Fe, Ni, Cu). Both ways are effective for the processing of 1,3,5-trichlorobenzene (TCB) as a model of polychlorinated organics. The reasons for improvement of catalysts are discussed. The best catalysts were effectively used for hydrodechlorination (HDC) of hexachlorobenzene (HCB).

Abstract:
The article presents the results of kinetic investigates of electrodeposition of a composite electrochemical coating based on a nickel-boron alloy. Current efficiency, polarization potentiodynamic researches had shown the joint participation in the electrodeposition process of finely dispersed compounds of nickel hydroxides, poorly soluble nickel and boron compounds present in the electrolyte or formed during electrolysis, and ultradispersed diamond introduced into the electrolyte. Comparison of 2D and 3D scans of the surfaces of the formed coatings confirmed the leveling effect of additives, as well as sparingly soluble nickel and boron compounds on the structure of coatings. The proposed composite electrochemical coatings can be used instead of chrome coatings when restoring parts and units of agricultural machinery.

Abstract:
Blood transfusion is one of the critical requirements of many medical treatments. To ensure timely blood availability, the Indonesian Red Cross (Palang Merah Indonesia/PMI) has to tackle the blood supply challenges of stockouts and overdates. This research aims to develop a simulation model to determine the blood supply policy to reduce stockouts and overdates. The simulation model was developed according to the existing system at UDD PMI Padang. Simulation experiments were then attempted with some sequential scenarios and carried out on variables that affect the blood supply. The simulation result recommends the blood supply policy to reduce blood stockout and overdate at a higher service level, at conditions of the blood demand is assumed to be constant or increased.

Abstract:
The purpose of the study is to show how the activities of the Mennonite closed cooperative “Union of the Descendants of the Dutch” (UDD) were refl ected in the offi cial reports of Soviet offi cials; to analyze the importance of the organization for the consolidation of the ethno-confessional community of Mennonites in Ukraine. The research methodology: the general scientifi c (method of system analysis) and special historical (historical-comparative, historical-genetic, problem-chronological) methods are used. Scientifi c novelty: the study notes the importance of the “Union of the Descendants of the Dutch” in reviving and preserving the moral and ethical principles of the ethno-confessional group, and shows the organization’s infl uence on protecting the rights of national minorities in the Soviet state. Conclusions. In the conditions of the early Soviet rule, the economic decline of the region, the location of the Mennonite colonies, and the demoralization of the ethno-confessional community, the “Union” served to coordinate the life and preserve the traditions of the Mennonite communities. The fact that the organization was built on ethnic principles, existed with the help of foreign Mennonite centres (Germany, the Netherlands, the United States, Canada), and abandoned atheistic principles, caused great concern on the part of party, and administrative authorities. Feeling unable to adapt to new political conditions, the UDD led the Mennonite emigration movement of 1923–1926, which gained international notoriety and created a negative image of the Soviet state. The activities of the “Union” were under the supervision of the authorities since 1924. As the totalitarian systemin the USSR and increasing pressure on dissent, the authorities found an offi cial reason for the dissolution of the organization, which took place even in the policy of indigenization. As a result of the liquidation of the organization, the Mennonite population of the USSR found itself vulnerable to pressure from the authorities and shared the fate of the entire Ukrainian peasantry.

Abstract:
The electronic structure of the CuO chain and the CuO 2 plane in the superconductor YBa 2 Cu 3 O 7−δ doped with 3dn transition-metal (TM) atoms are investigated. The calculations were performed through the semiempirical INDO/S technique, where the correlation effects are taken into account by the Configuration Interaction (CI) procedure. We also calculated, for all 3dn impurities, the Hubbard parameters Udd corresponding to a narrow band. The results obtained demonstrate clear chemical trends in the electronic structure of the 3d's, from Ti to Ni, when they substitute Cu(1) and Cu(2) sites; the hybridization decreases when the atomic number Z decreases. Our work provides a picture which is important to understand the change in T c when the host is doped with TM atom.

Abstract:

Abstract:
ABSTRACT Oil terminals maintain and assess their oil spill response readiness by conducting drills and exercises in general accordance with the Preparedness for Response Exercise Program (PREP) guidelines; however, they often do not realize the full benefits of the time and effort they invest in their exercise programs. Specifically, the way many terminals conduct and evaluate their drill and exercise programs does not provide an in-depth understanding of the capabilities and competencies of their personnel and their response contractors. URS Corporation (URS) recently performed a meta-analysis of tabletop exercises (TTX), equipment deployment exercises (EDX), and unannounced spill equipment deployment drills (UDD) that we facilitated at terminals around the United States. The meta-analysis was performed as a combined review of the after action reports from the various exercises to identify common lessons learned and areas for improvement. Specifically, the objective of the meta-analysis was to develop recommendations, based on an in-depth understanding of the identified common lessons learned and insights from our exercise facilitators, to enhance or improve terminals' oil spill response performance when implemented in the design of future drills and exercises. Based on our study, URS identified and developed recommendations to address the following areas for improvement: training/exercises did not build on previous efforts; TTX were “walk through” or discussion type of exercises and not conducted in “real time”; UDD were conducted in similar ways each time and did not “stress the system”; exercises and drills did not involve upper level (e.g., regional or corporate) personnel who may have significant roles in the response; terminal personnel did not have relationships with staff of industries, contractors, and/or agencies in their area; terminal personnel were not familiar with the Geographic Response Plans or Area Contingency Plans for their area; and exercise programs and post-exercise reviews and critiques did not effectively assess all 15 response plan components. By implementing the recommendations from our meta-analysis, terminals can expect to obtain significantly greater benefits in terms of competence and confidence to respond to oil spills for a modest investment in additional time, cost, and effort.

Abstract:
Abstract Friction between metal surfaces in various mechanisms is an actual problem in modern engineering. Friction causes wearing of the rubbing parts. For reducing the coefficient of friction, it is proposed to treat the surfaces of rubbing parts with a suspension having a high (more than 20%) content of ultradispersed detonation diamond (UDD). In the course of treatment, nanodiamond particles penetrate into the substance being treated and create a thin surface layer (up to 1000 nm, depending on the degree of part processing), which leads to smoothing the effect of microsliding, due to which the reduction of the friction coefficient. The resulting surface layer consists of a metal matrix with diamond nanoparticles embedded in it. The paper shows the study of the steel part surface with the use of the optical and X-ray methods, and provides information on the change in the coefficient of friction of steel parts.
