Abstract:
Nine samples of corals collected from seven locations in the Saurashtra Coastal region of India were dated by 238U series disequilibrium methods. Of the three age groups (6000, 30,000, and 120,000 yr) reported for this region by the earlier studies of S. K. Gupta and B. S. Amin (1974, Marine Geology 16, 79–83), we could confirm only the 6000-yr group. Instead of a 120,000-yr group, we found a scatter of ages between 118,000 and 176,000 yr. There appears to be no evidence for 30,000-yr-old corals from this region.

Abstract:
An experiment was conducted in micro-plots filled with sandy loam soil having 14% clay and 0.33% organic carbon to see the responses of halophytic grasses Sporobolus marginatus and Urochondra setulosa collected from the extreme saline-sodic Kachchh plains, Bhuj, Gujarat, India under alkalinity/salinity. Maximum photosynthetic rate was recorded in control treatment. Photosynthetic rate decreased at pH 9.0 + EC 20 dS/m (11.25 and 17.8 μmol CO2/m2/s) in S. marginatus and U. setulosa respectively, along with reduction in stomatal conductance and transpiration rate. In comparison to control, increased accumulation of total soluble sugars and proline may be due to increased osmotic adjustment for both halophytes. Similarly, at mixed stress of pH 9.0 with EC 20 dS/m, the epicuticular wax load increased in both S. marginatus and U. setulosa (24.0 and 40.0 mg/g). A positive correlation of stress was seen with Na+ and Cl‑ content while negative correlation with K+ content. Na+ content increased to about 3-7 fold at salinity level, EC 35 dS/m. Similarly, with treatment of mixed stress of pH 9.0 with saline level EC 20dS/m, 3-6 times increase in Na+ with decrease in K+ was observed in S. marginatus and U. setulosa respectively. These grass species maintained better gas exchange properties with higher osmolytes accumulations and balanced ionic relations under high stress conditions of salinity and alkalinity. These attributes might be providing physiological adaptable mechanisms for growth under salt affected environments.

Abstract:
The Golden–Thompson trace inequality, which states that Tr e H+ K ≤ Tr e H e K, has proved to be very useful in quantum statistical mechanics. Golden used it to show that the classical free energy is less than the quantum one. Here, we make this G–T inequality more explicit by proving that for some operators, notably the operators of interest in quantum mechanics, H = Δ or [Formula: see text] and K = potential, Tr e H+(1− u) K e uK is a monotone increasing function of the parameter u for 0 ≤ u ≤ 1. Our proof utilizes an inequality of Ando, Hiai, and Okubo (AHO): Tr X s Y t X1− s Y1− t ≤ Tr XY for positive operators X, Y and for [Formula: see text], and [Formula: see text]. The obvious conjecture that this inequality should hold up to s + t ≤ 1 was proved false by Plevnik [Indian J. Pure Appl. Math. 47, 491–500 (2016)]. We give a different proof of AHO and also give more counterexamples in the [Formula: see text] range. More importantly, we show that the inequality conjectured in AHO does indeed hold in the full range if X, Y have a certain positivity property—one that does hold for quantum mechanical operators, thus enabling us to prove our G–T monotonicity theorem.

Abstract:
Defining Level of Service (LOS) criteria of U-turns is important for proper planning, design of transportation projects and also allocating resources. The present study attempts to establish a framework to define LOS criteria of U-turns keeping in mind the peculiar behavior of drivers and heterogeneity in urban Indian context. The U-turns at uncontrolled (no traffic sign, no signal, no traffic personnel) median openings are very risky. Upon arrival at the median opening, the U-turning vehicle looks for a suitable gap in the approaching traffic stream before initiating the merging process. While waiting for a suitable gap the U-turning vehicle experiences service delay. This service delay has been studied to quantify the delay ranges for different LOS categories. In this study, service delay data were collected from 7 different sections and microscopic analysis procedure was adopted to extract data from the recorded video. Subsequently, clustering technique has been utilized to defining delay ranges of different level of service categories. Four clustering methods, namely; K-mean, K-medoid, Affinity Propagation (AP), and Fuzzy C-means (FCM) are used. Four validation parameters are applied to determine most suitable clustering algorithm for the study and to determine the optimal number of cluster. AP was found to be the most suitable clustering method and 6 was found to be the optimal number and accordingly the collected delay data were clustered into 6 categories using AP. The delay range is found to be less than 4 s for LOS A is greater than 35 s for LOS F.

There has been a tremendous increase in the fog formation over northern parts of India in recent years. An attempt has been made to study the adverse impact of fog on aeronautical operations at Indira Gandhi International (I.G.I.) airport as total number of flights diverted during 1997-98, 1998-99, 1999-2000, 2000-01, 2001-02, 2002-03 and 2003-04 were about 900. I.G.I. airport is provided with a very efficient Instrument Landing System (ILS) for Cat-I, Cat-II and Cat-III operations. The utility of Runway Visual Ranges (RVRs) required for low visibility operations, calculated from skopographs, for the last fifteen years, has been discussed. Satellite observations on fog have been found to be in fair agreement with the surface observations. Most catastrophic fog formations, which occurred over north India during 1998-99, were found to be due to the enormous amount moisture flow from a severe cyclone formed in the Arabian Sea as evidenced in satellite imagery. An attempt has also been made to establish a relation of maximum temperature and Relative Humidity anomaly with the duration of fog at I.G.I. airport, Lucknow airport, Varanasi airport and Amritsar airport.

Abstract:
Water is the most important source of minerals for both human beings and animals. But at the same time, water is also a source of disease due to the contamination of various elements. Therefore, knowledge of the elemental content of water is important. In this work, water samples were collected from areas around Chandigarh and Bathinda district, Panjab, India. Proton-induced X-ray emission (PIXE) and proton-induced gamma-ray emission (PIGE) techniques were used for the determination of heavy and light trace elements, respectively, in wide varieties of water samples. A large number of elements, namely F, Na, S, Cl, K, Ca, Ti, Cr, Mn, Fe, Cu, Zn, As, Pb , and U were detected in the samples and results are discussed.

Abstract:
In this paper, two multielement analysis techniques, Neutron Activation Analysis (NAA) and Total Reflection X-ray Fluorescence (TXRF), are combined to detect elemental concentrations in Barbula indica moss collected at Dalat, Vietnam. Combining these two techniques has improved the qualitative detection of elements due to atmospheric deposition on moss samples. The concentrations of 40 elements, including Na, Mg, Al, Si, P, S, Cl, K, Ar, Sc, Ti, V, Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn, As, Se, Br, Kr, Rb, Y, Sb, I, Cs, Ba, La, Ce, Sm, Eu, Tb, Dy, Yb, Hf, Ta, Pb, Th, and U in the Barbula indicamoss samples collected at 19 locations at Dalat have been determined. It is shown that the air in Dalat is suspected of contamination by Na, Mg, Si, P, S, V, Mn, Cu, Se, Br, and U; slightly contaminated by Mg, Cl, K, Cr, Ni, S, and Ni; moderately contaminated by Sc, Fe, Co, Zn, As, Kr, Rb, Y, Sb, Cs, Ba, La, Ce, Sm, Eu, Dy, Yb, Ta, Pb, and Th; and seriously contaminated by Tb. Factor analysis has been used to explain the contamination sources of these elements, including V, As, Fe, Zn, Se, Rb, Sb, Cs, Al, Cu, and Pb in the investigated area. Four factors have been extracted that can explain 86% of the total variance, and the results suggest that the main sources of atmospheric pollution in Dalat originate from traffic and windblown dust.

The correlation between the global solar radiation calculated by using date wise average sunshine hour data with constants as = 0.25 and bs = 0.5, from Angstrom Prescott formula with the observed global solar radiation data was studied. The assertion that the Angstrom Prescott formula gives nearly accurate estimation of global solar radiation has been found to be correct. Correlation between the global solar radiation calculated by using date wise average of Tmax and Tmin (sourced from IMD located at Alipore, Kolkata, District - South 24 parganas) from Hargreaves Radiation formula (taking KRS = 0.19 ) with the observed global solar radiation data was also studied. Date wise corrected KRS by Hargreaves Radiation formula was computed using the observed data of global solar radiation, date wise average of maximum temperature Tmax and minimum temperature Tmin. The date wise corrected KRS can be used for better prediction of Tmax and Tmin. Also it can be used for estimation of global solar radiation for reference evapo-transpiration of the neighbourhood areas by utilizing the date wise KRS with the Tmax and Tmin of the station.

Ozone density in the vertical column of the atmosphere is computed with weekly ozone soundings taken throughout the year. During the month of September- October more frequent soundings were taken to study vertical profile of atmospheric ozone and features of ozone hole. The mean monthly and yearly variation of ozone and temperature from surface to 10 hPa has been computed and analyzed from the ozonesonde ascents for the period 1999 to 2007. The study has shown profound depletion in October and lesser but substantial depletion in September, in association with the ozone hole. Depletion is most pronounced between about 250 and 20 hPa in October, with maximum local ozone losses near 70 hPa & 100 hPa levels and in September at 70 hPa. Ozone correlations with temperature for several pressure levels have revealed new insights into the causes and extent of ozone change. Lowest annual mean temperature varies from -55 to -63 °C between 300 to 50 hPa in all the year. The temperature less than -80 °C in months of August & September at 70 hPa & 100 hPa levels and about -70 °C in month of October at 70 hPa & 100 hPa levels can be attributed as an indicator of ozone depletion in months of October

Abstract:

Abstract:
Abstract To minimize the negative impact on the health of its citizens, ‘India chose to sacrifice its economy and save lives’— ‘जान हैं तो जहान हैं’. A nationwide lockdown beginning 25 March 2020 was announced. The downside of any Lockdown is that economic activity and production come to an abrupt standstill and the economy gets halted in its track of economic growth. Subsequently, in June 2020, the Indian Government with a viewpoint of ‘जान भी जहान भी’— ‘Lives as well as livelihoods’ had decided to open the Lockdown in a phased manner and restart the economy. The chapter discusses in depth the macroeconomic impact of the virus on India and its effect on GDP growth and other key macroeconomic indicators. It explores the possibility of a V, U, K etc. shaped recovery and also looks into the demand and supply-side disruption that the pandemic had led to.

Abstract:
Chápanie tohto pojmu u kresťanských autorov vychádza predovšetkým z Biblie a súvisí s longanimitas Dei, čiže so zhovievavosťou Boha, ktorý nezatracuje hriešneho človeka.

Abstract There are in Ancient Greek a few hints of a ruki-development (that is, the change of [s] to [š]—in Sanskrit, to [ş]—when preceded by k, r, i, and u). Till now, the change has been thought to have been limited to a few other indo-European language families. The evidence presented here has chiefly to do with otherwise unaccountable switchings of Greek σ σ with ξ and the fact that the examples occur in ruki-environments.

Abstract:
Definitions and formulae used at various points in the text to manipulate vectors are listed below. Additional useful formulae, including geometrical and physical interpretations complementary to those provided in this text, can be found in standard texts on vector analysis and in mathematical handbooks. The Standard Mathematical Tables published by CRC Press (Boca Raton, Florida) is a particularly handy resource, and most college-level calculus texts cover introductory vector analysis as part of the material intended for a third-semester course. Appendix A in Bird, Stewart, and Lightfoot (1960) is a very good summary of vector and tensor notation presented in the context of fluid mechanics. Section 17.1.1 begins with several basic definitions of vector quantities that generally apply to any orthogonal coordinate system. The notation for unit vectors in Cartesian coordinates, i, j, and k, are used in this section, but it is understood that this notation may be directly replaced with symbols for unit vectors associated with other orthogonal coordinates. Section 17.1.2 then covers differential operations for Cartesian coordinates. Although the notation used for these differential operations in Cartesian coordinates is the same as that for other coordinate systems, the actual operations connoted by the notation are different, and must be defined separately (Appendix 17.2). Let S and T denote scalar functions, and let U, V, and W denote vectors. If U = 〈U1, U2, U3〉, then . . . U = U1i + U2j + U3k . . . . . . (17.1) . . .

Abstract:
Abstract The parameters c = ( c1, c2, · · · , ck) are called control parameters. They are parameters that typically appear in the dynamical systems equations. For example, for the Lorenz equations (2.1) the three control parameters are c = ( c1 , c2, c3) = (R, u, b) and for the Rossler equations (5.7) they are c = ( c1, c2, c3) = ( a, b, c). The control parameters are points in a k-dimensional manifold whose global topology is less important than that of the phase space. The dynamical systems equations (10.1) are typically coupled nonlinear equations. They are deterministic under mild conditions on the source functions f(x; c). Trajectories exist through any point at which a Lipschitz condition is satisfied. Such trajectories are locally extendable and unique. Specifically, the theorem is as follows [S].

Abstract:
The haemostatic system was investigated in 26 women taking cyclically administered triphasic combined oral contraceptives for the first time during their first six cycles. Fourteen women received Logynon (mean dose 32.4μg ethinyloestradiol, 92pg progestagen) and 12 received SHD 415G (Schering) which contains a mean dosage of 32.4μg ethinyloestradiol and 78pg gestodene, a recently developed progesterone. The Logynon group showed a significant increase (p<0.005) in fibrinogen (pre-mean 284.4 g/1; after 1 cycle 347.3 g/1, after 6 cycles 318.6 g/1) , factor VII (65.8 u/1 to 73.9 u/1 to 83.2 u/1), factor XII (1.74 u/1 to 2.41 u/1, to 2.25 u/1), plasminogen (100.9 u/1 to 135.1 u/1 to 126.3 u/1); decrease in ATIII (115.9 u/1 to 103.1 u/1 to 93.4 u/1) but no significant change in factor X (98.4 u/1 to 108.9 u/1 to 102.4) or protein C (0.85 u/1 to 0.88 u/1 to 0.94 u/1) activity. The SHD 415G group showed similar changes with an increase in fibrinogen (247.9 g/1 to 330.8 g/1 to 373 .1 g/1), factor VII (63.1 u/1 to 73.1 u/1 to 90.3 u/1, factor X (98.3 u/1 to 112.0 u/1 to 124.4 u/1), factor XII (1.46 u/1, to 1.93 u/1, to 2.03 u/1), plasminogen (110.8 u/1 to 125.4 u/1 to 136.7 u/1); decrease in ATIII (113.1 u/1 to 96.3 u/1 to 89.7 u/1), but no change in protein C (0.84 u/1 to - 0.78 u/1 to 0.85 u/1) activity. These changes were apparent after the first cycle of therapy and the differences were maintained over the six cycle period. There was no increase in protein C activity despite changes in the other vitamin K dependent proteins factors VII and X. Both low oestrogen dose triphasic pills caused similar prothrombotic changes which were not modified by the new progesterone, gestodene.

Abstract:
Previous and recent reports have suggested a fibrinolysis-enhancing property of standard heparin (SH) and low molecular weight heparin (LMWH) but these observations have never been confirmed in a clinical study fulfilling appropriate methodological criteria.Aim of this study was to evaluate in a cross-over double blind placebo-controlled study the effect of SH and LMWH (K 2165) on fibrinolysis. Six healthy volunteers (age 22-30) received a bolus dose of the following treatments: l)Placebo, 2)Kabi SH,5000 I.U., 3) Kabi 2165,5000 anti Xa U, 4)Kabi 2165, 10000 anti Xa U. A 4 day wash-out period was adopted. The volunteers had been fasting for at least 12 hours before the infusion and were sitting during the experiment. Before starting the infusion and at 1,2,5,10,15,30,60,120 minutes thereafter, blood samples were collected for the assay of t-PA activity, PA inhibitor activity, plasminogen, alfa2-antiplasmin, fibrinplate lysis area (FPLA), fibrinogen, aPTT, antithrombin III and anti-Xa activity. Placebo and Kabi 2165,5000 U had no effect on t-PA plasma level, however both SH and Kabi 2165,10000 U produced a statistically significant increase of t-PA level at 1 hour after the infusion. The t-PA increase lasted for at least 2 hours after the infusion; at that time the average t-PA activity was 0.14 U/ml for SH and 0.09 U/ml for Kabi 2165,10000 U (p<0.05, AN0VA,average pre-infusion level and placebo at 2 hours:0.01 U/ml).At that time plasma anti-Xa was 0.11 U/ml for SH and 1.05 U/ml for Kabi 2165,10000 U. SH and Kabi,10000 produced no effect on PA inhibitor. No effect of any treatment on fibrinogen,alfa2-antiplasmin,plasminogen, FPLA and antithrombin III was observed. We conclude that in this study both SH and Kabi 2165 produced a delayed and sustained increase of t-PA. The relevance of this effect remains to be established.

Abstract:
A female patient is presented, who developed thrombotic and hemorrhagic skin necrosis of the feet and toes during an acute episode of severe vitamin K deficiency due to cholestasis in the absence of coumarin treatment. Painful blue toes and feet progressed to erythematous swelling and bluish discoloration with blister formations and immanent gangrene. The histo-pathology of skin excisions from the erythematous skin lesions showed extravasation of erythrocytes and extensive fibrin thrombus formations in capillaries and venules as has been described in patients with coumarin skin necrosis. At the time of painful acrocyanosis the results of coagulation investigations (platelets 109 × 109/1, APTT 56/35 sec., PT 61/15 sec., ThrombotestR (TT) less than 3%, NormotestR (NT) less than 10%, fibrinogen 1,6 g/l, absence of fibrin monomers and degradation products, factor V 1.00 u/ml, antithrombin lil 1.03 u/ml and alfa2 antiplasmin 0.97 u/ml were consistent with severe vitamin K deficiency. Measurements of vitamin K dependent factors revealed very low levels for procoagulant factor VII (16%) and protein C (22%) antigen concentration and normal levels for procoagulant factor II (97%) and procoagulant factor X (87%) antigen concentration. After substitution of 5 mg vitamin K1 both the TT and NT normalized. These data confirm the hypothesis that an imbalance within procoagulant and anticoagulant vitamin K dependent factors (severe protein C and factor VII deficiency as compared to the procoagulant factors IX, X and II due to rapid development of vitamin K deficiency) contributes to the pathogenesis of thrombo-hemorrhagic skin necrosis and that the so-called coumarin necrosis is not due to drug toxicity.

Abstract:
Najčešća kardiovaskularna bolest i u rekreacijski tjelesno aktivnih osoba jest arterijska hipertenzija, u čijem sprječavanju i liječenju znatno mjesto imaju promjena načina života, prehrana i tjelesna aktivnost. Klinička evaluacija ovisit će o intenzitetu uključene tjelovježbe, simptomima, znakovima i čimbenicima opasnosti. Prije uključivanja u tjelesnu aktivnost, posebnu pozornost i procjenu treba usmjeriti k osobama niske kardiorespiratorne sposobnosti s pridruženim kroničnim bolestima, koronarnom bolesti, šećernom bolesti i kardio-metaboličkim sindromom.

Abstract:
Uma rotulação L(3,2,1) de um grafo G é uma função f de V(G) em S = {0,1,...,k} tal que |f(u)-f(v)| >= 4 - d(u,v) para quaisquer dois vértices u, v em V(G), em que d(u,v) é a distância entre u e v em G. O span de uma rotulação L(3,2,1) f é o maior rótulo k em S. O menor span que uma rotulação L(3,2,1) pode atribuir a um grafo G é denotado por lambda_{3,2,1}(G). Neste trabalho, provamos que lambda_{3,2,1}(G) = 25 para todo grafo subcúbico G sem vértices adjacentes de grau máximo. Além disso, provamos que lambda_{3,2,1}(G) <= 16 para grafos subcúbicos G com vértices de grau 3 à distância pelo menos 4.

Miekka, Shirley I. "USE OF ALBUMIN AND TWEEN AS STABILIZERS TO PREVENT ACTIVITY LOSS DURING CLOTTING ASSAYS OF COAGULATION FACTOR IX AND X CONCENTRATES." In XIth International Congress on Thrombosis and Haemostasis. Schattauer GmbH, 1987. http://dx.doi.org/10.1055/s-0038-1644065.

Abstract:
Assays for clotting activities of Vitamin K-dependent coagulation factors in Factor IX complex concentrates are IcnovTn to give variable results depending on the composition of the sample diluent. Higher potency values are obtained when deficient plasma is used for sample pre-dilution compared with dilution in buffer. This discrepancy is more pronounced in assays of higher purity Factor IX (FIX) or Factor X (FX) concentrates. We have found that addition of a mixture of bovine albumin (0.1% w/v) and Tween 20 (0.01% v/v) (BAT) to the dilution buffer can eliminate the discrepancy, giving clotting times and plot slopes equal to chose obtained upon dilution in deficient plasma. Less protection was obtained with either albumin or Tween added separately. Polyethylene glycol 8000 (0.1% w/v), commonly used to stabilize thrombin solutions, gave variable results. BAT had no effect on clotting times of whole plasma or of FIX or FX samples pre-diluted in deficient plasma. Neither deficient plasma nor BAT had any effect when added after sample dilutions were prepared: activity of a FIX concentrate was 137 U/ml when pre-diluted in Factor IX-deficient plasma and 1312 U/ml diluted in BAT, compared with 49 U/ml diluted in buffer alcne; addition of deficient plasma or BAT to the dilutions of sample in buffer gave activities of only 36 a).id 34 U/ml, respectively. Similar results were obtained with FX samples. Furthermore, when a solution of FX (pre-diluted to 1 U/ml in buffer without stabilizer) was merely transferred from one test tube to another without further dilution, clotting times increased progressively and activity decreased by 85% after 8 transfers. By contrast, an identical sample diluted to 1 U/ml with BAT remained essentially unchanged after 8 serial transfers. These results indicate that Vitamin K-dependent coagulation factors are very susceptible to surface adsorption or inactivation after dilution of concentrates, and that either BAT or deficient plasma will prevent this loss. The use of albumin and Tween as stabilizers provides a simpler, .less expensive alternative to prevent nonspecific surface adsorption and achieve more accurate measurement of clotting activities.

Blais-Stevens, A., A. Castagner, A. Grenier, and K D Brewer. Preliminary results from a subbottom profiling survey of Seton Lake, British Columbia. Natural Resources Canada/CMSS/Information Management, 2023. http://dx.doi.org/10.4095/332277.

Abstract:
Seton Lake is a freshwater fiord located in southwestern British Columbia, roughly 4 km west of Lillooet and 250 km north-northeast of Vancouver. Located in the Coast Mountains, it is an alpine lake about 22-km long and roughly 1-1.5 km wide. It is separated from nearby Anderson Lake, located to the west, by a large pre-historic rock avalanche deposit at Seton Portage. The lake stands at about 243 m above sea level and is up to about 150 m deep (BC gov., 1953). Water level is controlled by a hydroelectric dam (i.e., Seton dam) located at the eastern end of the lake. Here, the lake drains east into Seton Canal, a 5 km diversion of the flow of the Seton River, which begins at the Seton dam. The Seton Canal pushes water to the Seton Powerhouse, a hydroelectric generating station at the Fraser River, just south of the community of Sekw'el'was and confluence of the Seton River, which drains into the Fraser River at Lillooet. Seton Portage, Shalatlh, South Shalatlh, Tsal'alh (Shalath), Sekw'el'was (Cayoosh Creek), and T'it'q'et (Lillooet) are communities that surround the lake. Surrounded by mountainous terrain, the lake is flanked at mid-slope by glacial and colluvial sediments deposited during the last glacial and deglacial periods (Clague, 1989; Jakob, 2018). The bedrock consists mainly of mafic to ultramafic volcanic rocks with minor carbonate and argillite from the Carboniferous to Middle Jurassic periods (Journeay and Monger, 1994). As part of the Public Safety Geoscience Program at the Geological Survey of Canada (Natural Resources Canada), our goal is to provide baseline geoscience information to nearby communities, stakeholders and decision-makers. Our objective was to see what kind of sediments were deposited and specifically if we could identify underwater landslide deposits. Thus, we surveyed the lake using a Pinger SBP sub bottom profiler made by Knudsen Engineering Ltd., with dual 3.5 / 200 kHz transducers mounted to a small boat (see photo). This instrument transmits sound energy down through the water column that reflects off the lake bottom surface and underlying sediment layers. At the lake surface, the reflected sound energy is received by the profiler, recorded on a laptop computer, and integrated with GPS data. These data are processed to generate a two-dimensional image (or profile) showing the character of the lake bottom and underlying sediments along the route that the boat passed over. Our survey in 2022 recorded 98 profiles along Seton Lake. The red transect lines show the locations of the 20 profiles displayed on the poster. The types of sediments observed are mostly fine-grained glaciolacustrine sediments that are horizontally bedded with a subtle transition between glaciolacustrine to lacustrine (e.g., profiles A-A'; C-C'; F-F'; S-S'). Profile S-S' displays this transition zone. The glaciolacustrine sediments probably were deposited as the Cordilleran Ice Sheet retreated from the local area (~13,000-11,000 years ago; Clague, 2017) and the lacustrine sediments, after the ice receded to present-day conditions. Some of the parallel reflections are interrupted, suggesting abrupt sedimentation by deposits that are not horizontally bedded; these are interpreted as landslide deposits (see pink or blue deposits on profiles). The deposits that show disturbance in the sedimentation found within the horizontal beds are thought to be older landslides (e.g., blue arrows/deposits in profiles C-C'; E-E'; F-F'; G-G'; I-I'; J-J'; K-K'; N-N'; P-P'; Q-Q'; R-R'; T-T'; U-U'), but the ones that are found on top of the horizontally laminated sediments (red arrows/pink deposits), and close to the lake wall, are interpreted to be younger (e.g., profiles B-B'; C-C'; H-H'; K-K'; M-M'; O-O'; P-P'; Q-Q'). At the fan delta just west of Seton dam, where there was no acoustic signal penetration, it is interpreted that the delta failed and brought down coarser deposits at the bottom of the lake (e.g., profiles H-H'; M-M'; and perhaps K-K'). However, these could be glacial deposits, bedrock, or other coarser deposits. Some of the deposits that reflect poor penetration of the acoustic signal, below the glaciolacustrine sediments, could represent glacial deposits, old landslide deposits, or perhaps the presence of gas (orange arrows; e.g, B-B'; D-D'; J-J'; O-O', T-T'). The preliminary results from sub bottom profiling reveal that there are underwater landslides deposits of widely varying ages buried in the bottom of the lake. However, the exact timing of these is not known. Hence our preliminary survey gives an overview of the distribution of landslides where there seems to be a larger number of landslides recorded in the narrower eastern portion of the lake.
