Abstract:
Motion estimation (ME) plays an important role in digital video compression. But it requires huge complexity to find an optimal motion vector. Multi-view video is obtained by capturing one three-dimensional scene with many cameras at different positions. The computational complexity for motion estimation in multi view video coding increases in proportion to the number of cameras. To reduce computational complexity and maintain the image quality, a modified TZ search method for motion estimation in multi-view video coding is proposed in this paper. The proposed search method exploits the characteristics of the distribution of motion vectors to place the search points. Experiment results show that the speedup improvement of the proposed method over Pel Block Search and TZ search method (JMVC) can be up to more than 77 times and 1.8 ~4.5 times faster respectively by reducing the computational complexity and the image quality degradation is about to 0.05 ~ 1(dB) and 0.010.24 (dB) respectively.

Abstract:
Context. TZ Fornacis (TZ For) is an evolved detached binary system that is difficult to model and interpret, but very useful for testing stellar evolution theory and physics. Aims. We aim to search for solutions that are self-consistent and to determine the necessary stellar physics input. We also check solutions found previously for their internal consistency and for reproducibility. Methods. We use both a single and a binary stellar evolution code, and take into account all known system properties. We determine the physical stellar parameters by imposing that the models match the known radii for identical stellar ages. The evolution has to be consistent with a binary system in classical Roche geometry. Results. We obtained two different solutions to model TZ For successfully. Both depend on avoiding a long evolution on the first giant branch and imply a sufficiently large convective core on the main sequence. TZ For can be modelled consistently as a detached binary system by invoking either a substantial amount of core overshooting or a tidally enhanced wind mass loss along the red giant branch. An evolution with Roche-lobe overflow can definitely be excluded. Conclusions. A comparison of our results with previous studies also reveals that in addition to uncertainties associated with the input physics, the modelling of overshooting by different algorithms can have a strong impact.

Abstract:
10747 Background: trastuzumab (Tz), a humanized anti-HER-2/neu antibody, has been shown to improve survival in patients with HER2-positive breast cancer. A high incidence of brain metastases (BM) has been noted in patients receiving trastuzumab. Here we report 4 cases of HER-2 positive advanced breast cancer patients who developed BM while on TZ therapy. Cases: all 4 patients were treated initially with a combination of taxane-trastuzumab followed by maintenance trastuzumab. Tumors were classified as HER-2 over expressing if they were scored 3+ by immunohistochemistry or showed amplification by fluorescence in situ hybridization. Mean age at diagnosis was 48. Mean duration of trastuzumab therapy prior to BM was 20 months. All patients had achieved a complete remission of extracranial disease at the time of BM diagnosis. Mean number of intracranial lesions as determined by magnetic resonance imaging was 4. Treatment included radiosurgery, surgical resection, whole brain radiation, temozolomide, high dose methotrexate, thalidomide and in one patient, intra-arterial chemotherapy. All 4 patients are alive at the date of last follow-up (median =3 years) after BM diagnosis. Conclusions: this report suggests that patients who develop BM after trastuzumab can have a relatively long survival rate. The importance of a multidisciplinary approach to these patients cannot be overemphasized. Development of BM on TZ therapy does not represent resistance to TZ, but instead likely reflects the inability of TZ to cross the brain-blood barrier. Further research in this area is needed to optimize management while minimizing late effects. In this regard, alternatives to whole brain radiation should continue to be studied. In addition, the role of prophylactic cranial irradiation and the search for drugs that target HER-2 and cross the blood-brain barrier should be investigated. Abstract:
High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC) is a video compression standard that offers 50% more efficiency at the expense of high encoding time contrasted with the H.264 Advanced Video Coding (AVC) standard. The encoding time must be reduced to satisfy the needs of real-time applications. This paper has proposed the Multi- Level Resolution Vertical Subsampling (MLRVS) algorithm to reduce the encoding time. The vertical subsampling minimizes the number of Sum of Absolute Difference (SAD) computations during the motion estimation process. The complexity reduction algorithm is also used for fast coding the coefficients of the quantised block using a flag decision. Two distinct search patterns are suggested: New Cross Diamond Diamond (NCDD) and New Cross Diamond Hexagonal (NCDH) search patterns, which reduce the time needed to locate the motion vectors. In this paper, the MLRVS algorithm with NCDD and MLRVS algorithm with NCDH search patterns are simulated separately and analyzed. The results show that the encoding time of the encoder is decreased by 55% with MLRVS algorithm using NCDD search pattern and 56% with MLRVS using NCDH search pattern compared to HM16.5 with Test Zone (TZ) search algorithm. These results are achieved with a slight increase in bit rate and negligible deterioration in output video quality.

Abstract:
Using advanced deep learning (DL) algorithms for forecasting significant wave height of coastal sea waves over a relatively short period can generate important information on its impact and behaviour. This is vital for prior planning and decision making for events such as search and rescue and wave surges along the coastal environment. Short-term 24 h forecasting could provide adequate time for relevant groups to take precautionary action. This study uses features of ocean waves such as zero up crossing wave period (Tz), peak energy wave period (Tp), sea surface temperature (SST) and significant lags for significant wave height (Hs) forecasting. The dataset was collected from 2014 to 2019 at 30 min intervals along the coastal regions of major cities in Queensland, Australia. The novelty of this study is the development and application of a highly accurate hybrid Boruta random forest (BRF)–ensemble empirical mode decomposition (EEMD)–bidirectional long short-term memory (BiLSTM) algorithm to predict significant wave height (Hs). The EEMD–BiLSTM model outperforms all other models with a higher Pearson’s correlation (R) value of 0.9961 (BiLSTM—0.991, EEMD-support vector regression (SVR)—0.9852, SVR—0.9801) and comparatively lower relative mean square error (RMSE) of 0.0214 (BiLSTM—0.0248, EEMD-SVR—0.043, SVR—0.0507) for Cairns and similarly a higher Pearson’s correlation (R) value of 0.9965 (BiLSTM—0.9903, EEMD–SVR—0.9953, SVR—0.9935) and comparatively lower RMSE of 0.0413 (BiLSTM—0.075, EEMD-SVR—0.0481, SVR—0.057) for Gold Coast.

We all know the Standard Model cannot describe all phenomena emerging from modern experiments. Apparently, it must exists a Beyond Standard Model which can satisfy some or all phenomena. In the beginning, we at- tempt to solve the Hierarchy problem which has disturbed at the physicist so far. In brief, that means we are able to find one new particle at least on TeV energy scale at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). Following the Minimal Composite Higgs Model (MCHM), it bases on a large symmetry SO(5)/SO(4) in strong dynamic sector above electroweak scale v. Therefore, it predicts heavy fermionic quarks (top partners) at the TeV energy order. We apply several analysis tools, such as Feynrule, Mad- graph 5, and MadAnalysis 5, doing simulations for those extra fermionic quarks at 14 TeV and luminosity equals to 300fb−1. For illumination, we use ”Singlet T Model”, which only remains a charge 2/3 top partner mixing with Standard Model by Yukawa interaction. Fur- thermore, we employ a model independent framework, which can apply in any models with extra vector-like quarks, as simplified model approach. For instance, you can use the model independent framework in Little Higgs Model (LHM) with T parity. As we know that the Singlet T Model is the most simplest case in MHCM. However, There are still a number of ways to assign the representation and the interaction between the different charge of vector-like quarks. It is totally beyond this work and others group have done a few researches. As a result, we will represent the probability to discover the new state in T → tZ channel.

Abstract:
Dissertação de mestrado em Física (área de especialização em Física Aplicada)
The subject of the present dissertation is the search for tZ event production by Flavour Changing Neutral Currents (FCNC) through the analysis of data collected by the ATLAS detector of the Large Hadron Collider located in CERN. The FCNC processes are very rare in the Standard Model of Particle Physics since they are not allowed at tree-level and extremely suppressed at loop-level. However, this processes have a higher probability to occur in several models beyond the Standard Model. In this thesis, a search for the production of a top quark and a boson Z via FCNC in a trileptonic topology is discussed. The final state of the tZ production consists in a pair of leptons with opposite sign and same flavour having a mass compatible with the decay of a Z boson, a charged lepton and a neutral lepton classified as coming from the decay of a top quark and finally a jet coming from a bottom quark (b-tagged jet). The analyzed data coming from proton-proton collisions at the centre-of-mass energy of √s = 13 TeV was collected in the data-taking period between July and November of 2015 corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3.21 fb−1. A complementary study of possible discriminant variables is presented. Through this study, expected upper limits at 95% confidence level on the cross-section of tZ production via FCNC were obtained. An interpretation of these limits in terms of branching ratios for t → qZ and the tZq coupling is also presented.

Abstract:
Introduction The implications of tumour location on mpMRI conspicuity are not fully understood. Identifying topographical correlates that influence conspicuity may improve outcomes. Here, we present the first systematic review and meta-analysis describing the effect of tumour location on prostate cancer conspicuity on mpMRI. Methods Medline, PubMed, EMBASE and Cochrane databases were systematically searched and results were assessed as per the PRISMA statement. Differential tumour conspicuity on mpMRI was compared between cancers in the peripheral zone (PZ), transitional zone (TZ), base, apex, anterior and posterior. Meta-analysis was conducted to compare diagnostic odds ratios (DOR) of mpMRI detection for tumours in the PZ and TZ. PROSPERO registration: CRD42021228087. Results Thematic synthesis showed apical and basal tumours had reduced conspicuity compared to mid-gland tumours. Cancer in the TZ demonstrated increased conspicuity on T2-weighted imaging, whilst PZ cancers had higher conspicuity on diffusion-weighted and dynamic contrast enhancement imaging. mpMRI had better diagnostic accuracy for PZ lesions, albeit higher specificity for TZ lesions. Meta-analysis showed an increased DOR for PZ tumours (OR: 7.206 [95% CI: 4.991;10.403], compared to TZ (OR: 5.310 [95% CI: 3.082; 9.151]). However, the test for subgroup differences was not significant (p = 0.2743). Conclusions Cancer in the apex or base of the prostate may be less conspicuous than mid-gland tumours. Similarly, TZ cancer appears to have reduced conspicuity compared to PZ cancer, however, meta-analysis did not show a significant difference between DOR. Future larger studies with prospective datasets are required to clarify the relationship between tumour position and conspicuity.
