Abstract:
The article suggests a way to solve the issues of art studies related to the development of a methodology for the study of the processes of artistic culture based on the identification of the inner deep traditions of Russian art. The expediency of using the cyclic methodology of cultural studies, which examines the object in the process of its formation on the basis of the system of procedures for collecting and generalizing experimental material, is substantiated. The analysis of the author's concepts of cyclism in related fields of knowledge of philosophy, psychology, design studies is carried out. From the standpoint of artistic practice, the disparate methods of the artist's visual activity are systematized into cycles and a cultural and historical typology of the self-movement of three branches of Russian art of the XX century is constructed: academic, integral and formalistic.

Abstract:
The objective of the work is to study the specifics of aesthetic and artistic consciousness in their interaction in terms of literary comprehension of philosophical concepts; to highlight the levels of interaction between aesthetics and literature as a factor in the formation of aesthetic dominants of the literary trend and artistic method. The focus of the work determines the use of cultural-historical, historicalliterary, philosophical and aesthetic research methods. Aesthetic consciousness is understood as a mode of intellectual-sensory perception (and assessment) of empirical reality, which determines the type of artistic consciousness and is reflected in a work of fiction. Three levels of correlation between aesthetic consciousness and reality are distinguished: the syncretic, at which the aesthetic consciousness merges with the empirical, dissolving into reality, and the ideal of beauty corresponds to scientific ideas about the surrounding world and man; the discrete level emphasises a certain autonomy of aesthetic consciousness from empirical one, its orientation towards the expression of some ideological or ideal essence; the synthetic, representing dialectical interaction and mutual influence, giving rise to harmony and aesthetic value of the unity of content and form. The specificity of the relationship between aesthetic and artistic consciousness is determined. The process of interaction between aesthetic and artistic consciousness as the interaction between aesthetics and literature takes place at two levels. The first level represents the transformation of the system of aesthetic-philosophical theories and characterises the state of aesthetic consciousness as a set of aesthetic views of the epoch. The second level is characterised by the process of “the transition of the artistic to the general cultural”, involving a change in worldview stereotypes when literature, producing its own spiritual values and anti-values, turns out to be able to reorient public consciousness (in some instances, even scientific) and public psychology, to shape the mindset, tastes, and specifics of everyday culture. The findings note that the convergence of aesthetic consciousness and literature, along with the actualisation of the principle of possibilities that began in the Romantic era, largely predetermined the development of aesthetic consciousness at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, when their interaction became so intertwined that it formed a unity. The distinction between aesthetics and literature practically disappeared, ushering in a new stage of cultural reorientation for aesthetics and art.

Miroshnychenko, M. "Director’s theme in the film adaptation of a literary work." Culture of Ukraine, no. 82 (December 13, 2023): 77–85. http://dx.doi.org/10.31516/2410-5325.082.09.

Abstract:
The purpose of the article. The article focuses on the process of film adaptation as a transformation of a literary text into a cinematic one. This phenomenon is mostly considered from the point of view of literary studies: the construction of dramatic structure, typology, comparative studies, screenwriter’s creativity, etc. However, the role of the director in film adaptation remains beyond the attention of scholars. This study examines the specifics of the film adaptation process in terms of the influence of the director’s theme, which is a manifestation of his or her personality. The methodology. We have used the analysis (of theoretical works on screenwriting and directing, research in the field of art history, psychology, etc.), typology (of structural elements and expressive means), systematization (of directorial techniques for transforming a literary basis into a screen work), observation (of the creative process in cinema), induction (based on practical experience) and modeling of the principles of the director’s work. The results can be used in training programs and practical activities of directors, screenwriters, film critics, art historians, and cultural critics. The paper provides examples on the basis of which practical principles are formed that can help in the creation of film adaptations. The scientific novelty lies in the fact that for the first time a comprehensive analysis of the transformation of a literary work into a screen work from the perspective of a director, its comprehension and systematization of directorial techniques in the process of film adaptation will be carried out.

Abstract:
The article discusses the problem of “great border” between the newest art of the latter part of the 20th century and the early 21st century and traditional art as it has been existed throughout millennia. A zone of major differences between these two types of art reflected in radically new features of language, richness and perception of the latest art, in emergence of new forms of artwork (art-objects, installations, performances, digital art, contemporary dance, post-drama theater) is expressed. At the same time the illustrative evolution of the very traditional art of today which brings it and the latest art together is emphasized. The article proposes a hypothesis of a central foundation-reason for transformative changes in art. The foundation of any artistic activity and artistic creation rests on a certain type of artistic attitude-towards-the world. Through alterations it has maintained the features of its basic paradigm unchanged. The author defines its essence as nature-centeredness. The radical evolution of modern civilization overshadows nature, places culture at the heart of people existence and results in the birth of a culture-centered paradigm of artistic consciousness. The article outlines its general characteristics defining the radical novelty of the present-day art. The key feature of such art is dominance in culture texts and some of its phenomena as a specific distinct and intrinsically valuable reality and a quest for the representation and internalization of its own diverse features of culture per se starting with its manmade (“artificial”), semiotic, activity-based, creative, communication, particular informative, tradition-driven nature and many others. Culture-centered art walks away from representing routine life events, telling “true stories”, reconstructing psychology and psychological relationships of people in every detail. Instead, it is turning towards accentuation and typology of ways and people life’ products, their cataloguing, towards analysis of culture memory, language and text structures, towards problemotization of the relationship between the cultural and the natural. Insufficient awareness of culture-centeredness expressed by theoreticians and practitioners of the latest art alongside with experiences of such awareness is mentioned.

Abstract:
Peter Newmark was a famous British translator and translation theorist. According to the type of text, he divided texts into expressive text, informative text, and vocative text in his first book Approaches to Translation, published in 1981 and formed the core concept of his translation thought, “semantic translation” and “communicative translation”. Based on semantic translation, communicative translation, and text typology, this paper tries to analyze the Chinese translation of the source text, The Art Of Loving(excerpts), written by Eric Fromm, a famous German-American psychologist, psychoanalyst and philosopher. Due to the psychology and critical thinking of the source text, the translator prefers to communicative translation and uses various translation methods and skills to reduce reading difficulties. This paper finds that any translation is a mixture of many theories, strategies, or methods. To some extent, in the process of translation, it inspires us to pay more attention to the use of translation theory, so that intuition and rationality can be combined, and closer to the essence of translation than the subconscious translation behaviors.

Abstract:
What is persona? Is there a single definition that all Persona scholars agree on? Are Persona scholars all using it in the same way? These are questions that I set out to answer in this paper, exploring both the contemporary persona studies literature and the Jungian concept of persona that is frequently cited as the intellectual root of the discipline. I begin by looking at the definition of persona in core persona studies texts, move on to Jung’s writings on the topic, and then examining the definition and construction of persona in the early volumes of the Persona Studies journal. On the basis of this literature I draw together a typology of persona that reflects the interests and perspectives of authors who have contributed to the development of this discipline. It comprises four categories: 1) persona in the Jungian tradition, a continuous performance pertaining to an individual; 2) generic persona that relates to a particular group of individuals, such as professional personas; 3) fictitious persona that is created in order to serve a specific purpose as art or entertainment, or to inform product design and marketing; and 4) attributed persona, where the characteristics of human persona are applied to a nonhuman entity such as a product or institution. I conclude with a number of suggested directions for research that builds on the Jungian foundations of persona but that draws on other relevant theory from psychology.

Abstract:
AbstractThe rapid but disproportionate growth of the cognitive science of religion in some areas, coupled with the desire to meaningfully connect with more traditional, function-inspired classifications, has left the field with an incomplete and sometimes inconsistent typology of religious and related actions. We address this shortcoming by proposing a systematic typology of counterintuitive actions based on their cognitive representational structures. This typology may serve as the framework of a research program that seeks to establish (1) psychologically, whether each class of events receives different cognitive treatment within a given context and similar representation across contexts; and (2) anthropologically, whether the different classes are characterized by different performance frequencies, social functions, and kinds of interpretations, making them useful explanatory and predictive distinctions.

Abstract:
“Agency” or active transformative behavior of individuals in relation to the social world remains one of the central concepts of discussion and research for both the social and the political sciences, and for practice in the field of education, economics, culture, and social policy. The current state of societal processes, de-structuration, makes individual agency especially important for both individual and collective well-being. The contribution of art to understanding and promoting agency remains little known in the scholarly world. The purpose of this research is to study the vision of agency issues by representatives of the contemporary European artistic process in the context of social and cultural trends relevant to Europe and to compare this vision with interpretations in other spheres of public life. The authors try to show how initiatives aimed at developing agency originate in the institutional and noninstitutional art fields in Europe; how they manifest themselves and with what effects. The article puts forward a typology of agency in the contemporary cultural process: 1) social transformation; 2) escapism; 3) crisis adaptation; 4) transformation of actor; quantitative characteristics and concrete examples for each type are provided. Particular attention is paid to the concrete forms of agency that the field of art generates, and how discovered cases reflect broader processes in the social life of Europe.

Abstract:
Abstract. Sexual scientists have recognized for over a century that biologic males who seek sex reassignment – male-to-female (MtF) transsexuals – are not a homogeneous clinical population but comprise two or more distinct subtypes with different symptoms and developmental trajectories. The most widely used typologies of MtF transsexualism have been based on sexual orientation and have distinguished between persons who are androphilic (exclusively sexually attracted to males) and those who are nonandrophilic (sexually attracted to females, both males and females, or neither gender). In 1989, psychologist Ray Blanchard proposed that most nonandrophilic MtF transsexuals display a paraphilic sexual orientation called autogynephilia, defined as the propensity to be sexually aroused by the thought or image of oneself as a woman. Studies conducted by Blanchard and colleagues provided empirical support for this proposal, leading to the hypothesis that almost all nonandrophilic MtF transsexuals are autogynephilic, whereas almost all androphilic MtF transsexuals are not. Blanchard’s ideas received increased attention in 2003 after they were discussed in a book by psychologist J. Michael Bailey. The concept of autogynephilia subsequently became intensely controversial among researchers, clinicians, and MtF transsexuals themselves, causing widespread repercussions. This article reviews the theory of autogynephilia, the evidence supporting it, the objections raised by its critics, and the implications of the resulting controversy for research and clinical care.

Abstract:
Aim. The research aim is to find out the correlation between the comprehension of read texts in German and the different cognitive linking levels such as the propositional, the epistemic and the speech of act level. Methods. In the first phase of the research, we used qualitative content analysis to identify the different cognitive levels in the texts. After that we used a didactic test to determine the text comprehension in German at the A2 language proficiency level. Results. A statistically significant positive relationship was found between reading comprehension performance in German and the propositional level. This means, higher performance in reading comprehension of German texts is manifested if the read texts contain indicators such as indicative sentences and adverbial tenses. Subsequently, we find a tendency correlation between the comprehension of German texts and the level of speech acts. No statistically significant relationship was found in the variable of epistemic level and German text comprehension. Conclusion. Our research showed that the epistemic level indicators and the speech act level indicators made it difficult for the learners to comprehend German texts, for this reason it would be necessary that after mastering the simpler phenomena such as the indicative mood, they should fluently start to deal with the indicators of the above levels. In the educational process, it is necessary to focus on the training of word types, on explaining the meanings of these words or expressions in order to develop and broaden the vocabulary of learners.

Abstract:
This paper presents Pavlov's contribution to the development of biological-oriented personality theories. Taking a short description of Pavlov's typology of central nervous system (CNS) properties as a point of departure, it shows how, and to what extent, this typology influenced further research in the former Soviet Union as well as in the West. Of special significance for the development of biologically oriented personality dimensions was the conditioned reflex paradigm introduced by Pavlov for studying individual differences in dogs. This paradigm was used by Russian psychologists in research on types of nervous systems conducted in different animal species as well as for assessing temperament in children and adults. Also, personality psychologists in the West, such as Eysenck, Spence, and Gray, incorporated the CR paradigm into their theories. Among the basic properties of excitation and inhibition on which Pavlov's typology was based, strength of excitation and the basic indicator of this property, protective inhibition, gained the highest popularity in arousaloriented personality theories. Many studies have been conducted in which the Pavlovian constructs of CNS properties have been related to different personality dimensions. In current research the behavioral expressions of the Pavlovian constructs of strength of excitation, strength of inhibition, and mobility of nervous processes as measured by the Pavlovian Temperament Survey (PTS) have been related to over a dozen of personality dimensions, mostly referring to temperament.

Abstract. We aimed to determine (1) the attributes of multiple stigmatized populations, (2) whether Kurzban and Leary’s (2001) functional typology of stigma emerges and identifies the dimensions upon which each stigma type differs, and (3) the emotional responses toward emergent stigma types. Participants ( N = 2,674) were assigned to 1/52 stigma target conditions and their attitudes surveyed. Data were analyzed by multilevel factor analysis with stigma targets at Level 2. There were five within-factors at Level 1 (social competence, interpersonal access, social inclusion, immorality, perceived permanence) and three between-factors at Level 2 (interpersonal stigmatization, morality-based stigmatization, chronic stigmatization). Interpersonal stigmatization was predicted by disgust and pity, and morality-based stigmatization was predicted by disgust and [-]happiness, with no predictors for chronic stigmatization. These results support a functional typology of stigma.

Abstract:
Sound in space. Featherless dinosaurs. Physics-defying stunts. Unrealistic science in narrative fiction is often a subject of commentary and critique. However, there is limited research investigating the significance, risks and benefits of this discourse for audiences. This article analyses interviews and focus group discussions to develop a typology of functions that are served by audience discourse about the perceived realism of science in fiction. This typology illustrates how discourse about the realism of science in fiction can serve diverse functions for diverse audiences. Practitioners who use fictional examples in science communication may benefit from an awareness of the multifaceted nature of the discourse in which they are participating.

Abstract:
The purpose of this article was to develop an Spanish psychometric typology of sexual offenders taking into account dynamic risk factors. The sample comprised 94 sex offenders imprisoned in Spain (52 rapists and 42 child molesters). The analysis yielded two different offender categories based on the subjects’ criminogenic needs level (high and low). The results also showed that social desirability has a strong influence on the developed typologies, whereas the offence type, sociodemographic characteristics, and criminal history do not. A dynamic risk factors typology, such as the one proposed here, could help criminal and correctional facilities to fulfill their remit. It could also be useful for linking treatment intensity to offenders’ criminogenic needs, as well as providing a platform for recidivism risk assessments.

Abstract:
"Death is a concept studied from ancient times by all major areas, from literature and art, to philosophy and psychology. In this research, we analyze the way Socrates, the famous Greek philosopher, negotiates the idea of death, through his own death. We approached this, because the ancient philosopher was put in this situation when he was sentenced to death, unjustly, following a democratic decision. His way of seeing death reveals a formula that does not match the expectation of his contemporaries, nor the classical typology of the imminence of his own death, belonging to psychiatrist Elizabeth Kübler-Ross. And the explanation of this non-coincidence is based on the philosophical idea of man and world and the specifics of his philosophical practice. It is precisely this philosophical conception and practice that will make Socrates’ attitude become repeatable and not unrepeatable, as one might expect, since this attitude appears so conditioned by specific elements. In fact, the rational research on the grounds of beliefs and personal knowledge that stands at the basis of his philosophical practice, is deeply rooted in the foundations of Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT). Therefore, what lays at the basis of Socrates’ view on death goes far beyond the ancient cultural framework. To fill in the phenomenal dimension with the one of organic layer, the analysis will also include an interpretation of Socrates’ behavior, from the dopamine mechanism approach. Keywords: death, Socrates, method, concept, analysis, beliefs. "

Abstract:
ABSTRACTThis article tests the fit of a social support network typology developed for collectivist cultures to six migrant populations living in England and Wales. We examine the predictive utility of the typology to identify networks most vulnerable to poor quality of life and loneliness. Variables representing network size, and the proportion of the network classified by gender, age, kin and proximity, were used in confirmatory and exploratory latent profile analysis to fit models to the data (N = 815; Black African, Black Caribbean, Indian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi and Chinese). Multinomial logistic regression examined associations between demographic variables and network types. Linear regression examined associations between network types and wellbeing outcomes. A four-profile model was selected.Multigenerational Household: Younger Familynetworks were most robust with lowest levels of loneliness and greatest quality of life.Restricted Non-kinnetworks were least robust.Multigenerational Household: Younger Familynetworks were most prevalent for all but the Black Caribbean migrants. The typology is able to differentiate between networks with multigenerational households and can help identify vulnerable networks. There are implications for forecasting formal services and variation in networks between cultures. The use of a culturally appropriate typology could impact on the credibility of gerontological research.
