Abstract:

The heritage can be considered like everything what the man has and who has been bequeathed him by its ancestors. All this wealth has extreme importance for the development of the tourism. But as well as the heritage allows the development of the tourism also can be seen negatively affected by this activity. Therefore it is necessary that a sustainable development of the tourism considers; a development model that obtains economic benefits of the heritage but that it allows that this it is revitalized and it revalues as well. Abstract:
In recent years, the Region of Murcia has promoted new tourism models related to heritage and the sea. However, despite the richness of its maritime history and heritage, it has not done so in a complementary manner. The Mar Menor-La Manga area has only boosted the maritime aspect in relation to nautical activities, leaving their heritage relegated to a second place. This paper seeks to vindicate the importance of the Maritime Heritage, History, and Culture associated with this area and to show the opportunities offered by its proper enhancement through a case study: the implementation of an underwater heritage trail in the Phoenician wreck of the “Bajo de la Campana” as part of the “Isla Grosa” Project.

This article seeks to promote a theoretical reflection on the prison heritage. Thereby, it is our intention to analyze critically the realities that surround the preservation and protection of this type of heritage and the possible new uses for the prison heritage in the city of Juiz de Fora [State of Minas Gerais, Brazil]. The methodological procedures were based on the analysis of academic production on this theme. Libraries and historical collections of the city were consulted, as well as Internet pages that contained relevant news and information about prison heritage. The analysis of the material shows that some buildings in the municipality were demolished, seeking to highlight the importance of public prison memory and the disregard that the prison heritage suffers in the contemporary context.

Abstract:
Despite the innumerable heritage of Chile, based on its natural attractions, in its history and important archaeological resources, and in a culture with thousands-year-old indigenous roots, the tangible and intangible heritage linked to water, the hydraulic heritage, has been scarcely studied, hardly considered culturally as an element of interest and poorly promoted by state tourism agencies. Incomprehensible situation in a space in which the control and the use of water through infrastructures and inventions, has been, since historical times, a matter of enormous importance, both in the territories of hydric scarce, and even zero rainfall, as in those in which the values of precipitation are very high.

The requirement of a sustainable management of the historical heritage sites demands the design of management control models that contemplate the particularities of those sites, beyond the architectural ones. The goal of this paper is the design of a holistic, contingent and integrator model to be used by the public and/or private managers for the sustainable management. To achieve this, a thorough bibliographic review of the specialized literature has been carried out. This model does not pretend to be universal but rather a point of reference for its adaptation to the particularities of each site.

Abstract:
The promotion of wine tourism is becoming an increasingly frequent strategy in the Douro wine regions. They have consolidated their productivity around quality wines and now highlight the heritage elements of landscapes linked to production. However, at the same time, in the least transformed areas with fragile environments but a high concentration of heritage assets -that position them as tourist destinations-, this wine sector is acting as a stimulus in the revival and competitive conservation of vineyards, more and more valued and recognised in the landscape as a tourism generator. To illustrate this process, this paper analyses the dynamics of vineyards cultivated in environments with a high density of heritage elements such as the Sierra de Salamanca (Spain).

This work includes a tour of disused industrial remains transformed into hotels, It is evident that the reuse of these old containers in order to new tourist uses has helped on the one hand to recover heritage, while on the other hand a sustainable action is achieved and it avoids the waste that implies the new construction. However, the paradox of rehabilitation actions is also highlighted, where reuse can lead to environmental deterioration, despite the recovery of heritage that initially it means.

Abstract:
In many major cities, the ‘first’ nineteenth-century cemetery is increasingly the focus of cemetery tourism. This paper recognises ‘funerary heritage’ as an associated but separate development. It indicates that there can be an uneasy relationship between cemetery tourism and funerary heritage, in part resting on unwillingness directly to associate cemetery visits with death. Poorly framed cemetery tourism can actively undermine both the tangible and intangible heritage of cemeteries. Many cemeteries are still in use, and this paper regards these sites as ‘living heritage’. In these circumstances, interpretation should acknowledge the bereaved as relevant stakeholders; interpretation needs to be more confident in the ways in which it talks about the various aspects of mortality; foregrounding how the cemetery ‘works’ presents an under-explored narrative frame; and there is a need to be aware of the ways that interpretation can skew conservation effort. Ethical issues also pertain. Here it is suggested that, at the very least, that interpretation should demonstrate how –across all times and cultures– humanity has striven to come to terms with mortality.

Abstract:
The article explores the potential of the symbolism of cocoa (Theobroma cacao) as a unique element of the intangible cultural heritage that forms part the tourist offer of the indigenous Bribri people of Talamanca (Costa Rica). An analysis of the existing tourism products of the Bribri people – whose social structure is matrilineal – reveals that a strategy for using cocoa cultivation (based around its symbolism) in their tourism offer could help diversify the income of indigenous families. At the same time, without neglecting the risks of patrimonialising the indigenous cultural heritage, it would make known unique signs of identity by recovering and conserving traditions.

The recovery of the cultural, natural and landscape heritage of the city of Cartagena is a key element in the local development of this city, as well as a change in the model of economic development traditionally dedicated mainly to the industrial, military and port sectors. At present, the preponderance of tourism as a dynamic activity is generating the creation of many jobs both in the direct attention to visitors and the need to recover and show a cultural heritage in many cases hidden for centuries. The present work offers, from the statistical use of basic indicators and the own analysis of the survey, clarifying data about the current tourist activity in Cartagena.

Abstract:
Tourism is an eminently visual sector, which encourages destinations to work on generating seductive representations to attract potential visitors. This paper analyses how heritage has been incorporated into the construction of the Andalusian induced image in recent decades, developing a semiotic analysis of the representations projected in the promotional material. Through this, it emerges that this image is the inheritance of the universal identity of the region built during Romanticism, in which the elements of its Arab past prevail. Finally, the study provides that territories that have a consolidated universal image, in which heritage plays a fundamental role, they use it to form their induced image due to its easy international recognition.

Abstract:
The territorial transformation being undergone by the Rural Department of Iglesia in San Juan‑ ‑Argentina opens up “opportunities” for development that may represent threats to its sustainability. The con‑ solidation of the Central Bio‑Oceanic corridor foresees new scenarios such as the construction of the Paso de Agua Negra International Tunnel, aimed at promoting integration and demanding, as a result, provision of utilities and amenities that broaden the horizon for regional planning, to compensate for previous partial projects. The aim of this research is to give a critical review of previous conceptual and methodological approaches to Heritage, Landscape and Tourism, as addressed in “The Plan of land use and territorial development for the rural area of Iglesia “. The aim is to provide a theoretical‑methodological approach that allows for an understanding of the systemic reality and of how landscape and heritage can be classified in a functional manner to structure tourism. Essential rural planning criteria are considered within the framework of the nascent heritage tourism vocation. The discussion and conclusions underline the systemic importance of these concepts as an input for all planning and territorial organisation. The broaching of alternative contextualised situations of development poses inter‑ disciplinary challenges to heritage conservation and possible alienation of the location from its territory.

Abstract:
We present a bibliometric and social network analysis of the Brazilian field of tourism, taken as the articles of 16 Brazilian tourism journals. Utilizing keywords, we describe and evaluate its trajectory (1990‑2018), with focus on the cultural tourism cluster. We study the authorship (authors, institutions and geographic distribution), journals (dispersal of publication), impact and intellectual structure of the cluster. It is clearly delimited, and includes “expected” keywords that orbit around cultural tourism, culture and heritage. Authorship is relatively fragmented; there is an overrepresentation of the Northeast Region of Brazil. In the references, there is a distinct social sciences orientation; there are relatively few authors and texts concerned with cultural tourism as a market segment. Margarita Barretto’s dominance and centrality in the intellectual structure is clear. Concerning the impact, the cluster has an average of actual citations per article just below that verified for the field.

Abstract:
This article discusses the tourist refunctionalization of the Old Town of Old Havana was marked by two fundamental events: the declaration of the Center and the city's defensive system to Cultural Heritage of Humanity (UNESCO), in 1982, a fact that conferred international visibility to the group and the governmental decision to develop cultural tourism in this area. Since 1993, making the historic area attractive for commercialization, a fact that aggravated the socio-spatial contradictions. Through bibliographic review, documentary research and analysis of empirical results, we evaluate the renewal of the urban landscape, the displacement of a part of the low-income population, the arrival of the Cuban middle classes and the revaluation, even if informal, of the houses. These facts point to the existence of an emerging gentrification process in the Historic Center of Old Havana. The paper deals with the recent processes that have transformed Salta into an important tourist destination in Argentina. In the last decades, provincial government (together with entrepreneurial actors and cultural and scientific experts) has launched an urban renewal program to revitalize the historic district and improve infrastructures to stimulate tourism. This reinforced the heritage aspects of Salta but also sought to show it as a cosmopolitan city. As part of this process historic district has become a space of consumption for tourist and privileged local society.

The geological‑paleontological heritage of a region represents a component on which tourist activ‑ ity can be based. The objective of this study is to show how the policies created at all levels of government directly or indirectly affect the sustainable development of tourist activity in natural protected areas (ANP) with paleontological heritage. The area under analysis in this case is the Dinosaur Park contained within the Geological Park Sanagasta (PGS), La Rioja, Argentina, ANP with tourism based on paleontological findings. By way of method, we used analytical, critical review of policies devoted to conservation, protection, and subsequent tourism development around these sites. Some of the main results are: norms lacking regulation for stakeholder participation to be operational for tourism in conservation units. It is believed necessary to achieve shared management (public‑private community‑State) in pursuit of adequate tourism management.

In the last few decades, branding is an important part of marketing tourism destinations. Tour‑ ist destinations started to be seen as companies and started to use the brand as a way to attract and retain visitors. The brand is based on a perspective of value creation acting as a differentiation strategy in an increasingly competitive market. In this context, this study presented here sought to understand how the regional entity of Tourism in Porto and Northern Portugal has developed its marketing through branding. In methodological terms, in a first part, there is an analysis of the literature on the concept of brands, and in a second part, the strategies adopted by the target entity of our study were analysed. As main conclusions, it was found that this entity sought to create its own brand, aggregating all anchor strategic products and complementary products, from its sub‑regions with a view to promoting its natural and heritage resources, and to convey the idea of a glam‑ orousa cosmopolitan destination with history and tradition.

Abstract:
Abstract Culinary tourism based on visiting restaurants and tasting dishes where a strong link and identity exist with the destination is increasingly becoming an opportunity to attract tourists. Visiting a fine-dining restaurant is one of the features of culinary tourism and it also leads to greater dissemination of the historical and cultural heritage of the region. Therefore, this paper seeks to learn more about the so-called gastronomic tourist who visits a prestigious restaurant attracted by the information in gastronomic guides or ratings of the chef working there. The field work was conducted at the ReComiendo Restaurant in Cordoba, when the motivations and satisfaction of the customers who visit this type of establishment were studied. The analysis shows that developing culinary tourism based on visiting a well-known establishment influences the perception of the culture of the area. Therefore, increasing and enhancing the number of visitors at a culinary destination will, to a large extent, depend on the local culinary heritage being featured at its restaurants, the updating of its offer, a tasting menu based on a common thread, together with the updating of traditional gastronomy using cutting-edge techniques. Key words: culinary tourism, gastronomy, gastronomic guides, gastronomic experiences, Cordoba (Spain). Abstract:
Since the end of the last century, the development of new trends and tourism consumption models has allowed the proliferation of tourist equipment in Extremadura, exploiting the heritage resources, both natural and cultural. Abstract:
Based on the breeding of Iberian hog in the Province of Salamanca, the relations between the territory and cultural heritage are analysed. Breeding conditions are well-adapted to the local ecosystem of pastureland with holm oaks, known as monte hueco or dehesa. Meat processing, for example the production of Iberian chorizo, is based on folk knowledge. The long historical past of pig rearing is embedded in a sustainable agro-sylvo-pastoral landscape and in a local culture related to the production of ham and sausages. This way of life is reflected in paintings, photographs, folklore and literary texts, which show the intense relationship of the people of Salamanca with their territory, landscape and traditions, as well as its asset as a touristic -gastronomic resource.

Abstract:

Here, Dr. Cornelius Holtorf, archaeologist, Professor of Archaeology, Director of the Graduate School in Contract Archaeology (GRASCA) and UNESCO Chair on Heritage Futures at Linnaeus University talks about his ongoing projects/ideas and comments on the impact of tourism and covid-19 on cultural heritage, heritage futures and future literacy.

Abstract:
The Andean world is underexploited for tourism due to both the lack of infrastructure and the lack of its development as a product. Still, tourism exists and is, in some places, overwhelming. As such, it establishes itself in a double market game: 1) it offers hotel infrastructures and tours that are clearly a product for foreign tourists, and 2) it recreates a whole discourse on heritage. The Andean tourism market has three self-contained aspects, which address 1) the indigenous world, either the historical or the present, although without confusing them or making a connection between them, 2) the colonial world, and 3) a high quality natural environment. This work, based on a critical decolonial view and ethnography developed from field work, analyzes the game between discourse and social practice from the point of view of both visitors and locals, thereby recreating some of its paradoxes and contradictions. This analysis, obviously from a decolonial and political view, attempts to recover the epistemology of the south.
