Abstract:
The article is aimed at presenting piano and chamber music written by the forgotten composer of the period of the Young Poland. Born in Cracow to a family with rich music traditions, Jerzy Gablenz learned to play the piano, flute, cello and organ. But his main interest was to write music himself. As early as in his youthful years, he wrote songs and piano miniatures mainly dedicated to Małgorzaa Schoen, his future wife. He graduated from law school, but he also studied composition and theory of music with Władysław Żeleński, Feliks Nowowiejski and Zdzisław Jachimecki. His main occupation was managing the vinegar and mustard factory. Despite that, he found time for writing symphonic, opera, chamber, piano and vocal pieces. His piano works – due to their tunefulness, diversified texture, mysteriousness and ballroom elegance – are unquestionably worth promoting. They include: 4 Small Bagatelles op. 1 no. 1, 4 Improvisations op. 1 no. 3, 3 Improvisations op. 1 no. 4, Intermezzo a la mazurka op. 2, 2 Morceaux op. 3, Two Small Bagatelles op. 8, 2 Skizzen op. 24 Es war niemal…, or Suite op. 35. Gablenz’s chamber works cover: Canzona op. 1 no. 2 for flute and piano, Sonata op. 15 for cello and piano, 5 Waltzes op. 28 for piano 4 hands, Arabesque op. 28 no. 6 for oboe and piano, Trios for three female voices and piano to lyrics by Leopold Staff op. 4 and op. 19. Unfortunately, Gablenz’s tragic death on 11 November 1937 in a plane crash near Piaseczno made the further development of his great talent impossible. I believe that his creative output deserves promoting among music lovers not only in the Dominican Republic and Canada, but first of all in Poland, where some of his works still have not had their premiere performances, despite numerous efforts of Tomasz Gablenz, the composer’s son.

Abstract:
Based on the reflection on the traditional teaching model of English majors, this paper points out that language teaching has long been divorced from the cultivation of cultural literacy and social needs; therefore, students’ learning initiative has seriously deteriorated. On this basis, this study focuses on the “student-centered” notion and tries to integrate the four functions of language, which include “instrumental,” “cognitive,” “emotional,” and “literacy,” to establish a “four-three-two” teaching model, so as to explore an effective scheme for the teaching reform of English majors.

Abstract:
The concept of international security has numerous dimensions and interpretations, because of a wide scope of threats and challenges, which have various roots and reasons and depend on the region of the development of a particular security issue. This accounts for the choice of the form: the best way to discuss international security is to use particular cases while conducting the research. This method allows us to perceive the issue as a complex notion in particular circumstances while avoiding unnecessary generalization of the researched object. Current research is devoted to the issue of security assets in Central Asian republics (Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, and Kirgizstan). Moreover, the research does not only take into consideration security threats purely as a notion but also brings in another variable to the discussion: a factor of the Chinese "One Belt, One Road" initiative. This fact allows the research to obtain geopolitical meaning and depth. For China realization of the OBOR initiative means far more than the creation of a mechanism of international logistics, investments, and cooperation. Using the OBOR China tries to promote a scale of values, which is different from the Western one. Moreover, building the OBOR grants China the role of an international superpower as well as a new pole of gravity in international relations. The research also addresses the question of the importance of Central Asia as a geopolitical bridge. The control over it has been a debatable issue among international players since the early 19th century, and it still has not lost its importance because the region has its borders close to the borders of the Russian Federation from the south and China from the west. Central Asia is also a region with numerous internal problems: on one hand, they are very similar for all the five republics of the region, but, on the other hand, they have their peculiarities differing from country to country. First of all, these concerns are related to the newly emerged unconventional security threat like religious radicalism and extremism: particular features of this phenomenon are different from country to country, and it does not have a unified solution. The last fact endangers not only national states of the region, but also countries of the neighboring region of Central Asia. In general, the research discusses the correlation of the OBOR as an international phenomenon with possible security risks for this project in the region of Central Asia.

Abstract:

Abstract:
To construct a scientific and effective curriculum assessment system of higher education is an effective measure to improve classroom teaching quality, a powerful guarantee to enhance students’ classroom participation and enthusiasm, and an important way to achieve fair learning evaluation. Based on a brief introduction of OBE and a comprehensive review of the current research situation of formative assessment, this paper analyzes the existing problems in the curriculum evaluation of higher education, constructs an OBE-based multiple formative evaluation system, and tries to apply it in the “micro-lecture + PAD class”. Finally, the author carries out a controlled experiment and makes a quantitative analysis of the relevant data obtained in the experiment. The results of the study show that the OBE-based multiple formative assessment system plays a positive role in promoting students’ academic performance, improving their autonomous learning ability, and enhancing their self-confidence.

Abstract:
This paper conducts an in-depth study and analysis of the optimization mechanism of the Civic OBE concept through the basic programming course of computational thinking. The connotation, implementation principles, and key points of the OBE concept are thoroughly studied and analyzed, and the new requirements of knowledge, ability, and quality of applied talents are specifically analyzed with the characteristics of applied talents in local undergraduate institutions and demand-oriented; the “top-down” idea is fully considered, and the top-down design is based on the middle school IT learning objectives. The reverse design focuses on the cultivation of skills and emotional goals, satisfies students’ individual needs, and enhances students’ ability to analyze and solve problems, and, second, to adapt to the rapid information society, the development of online open platforms, the use of information technology, the integration of modern learning resources, changing the traditional classroom teaching, and stimulating students’ learning enthusiasm and autonomy, to truly achieve efficient classroom. Based on this, this study tries to provide some new ideas and contribute some strengths to the design and practice research of information technology education in junior high school. In the process of effect analysis, data analysis was conducted on the achievement of the competency index points and related achievements of the research subjects. Oral interviews were also conducted with the teachers and students who participated in the experiment to explore the effectiveness of the project-based learning teaching model based on the OBE concept and to summarize the shortcomings of the model in teaching.

Full text
Abstract:
(Computer-Notensatz (SIBELIUS): August 2020)

Abstract:
Study about compositional and performance aspects yielded by the transposition from the popular to erudite musical styles in the trio arrangement for oboe, horn and piano by Hermínio Carlos de Almeida of the song Viver de Amor (1980) by Brazilian composers Toninho Horta and Ronaldo Bastos. It discusses the legitimacy of this procedure, its importance to the development of the repertory integrating both erudite and popular musical traits and to the development of the repertory for non conventional instrumentations. It also discusses structural elements of the original version and the idiomatic writing employed in the arrangement. The methodological procedures encompass: 1- Historical context of the composers, the work and its recordings; 2- Theoretical considerations about the practice of musical arrangements; 3- The electronic edition of Viver de Amor´s leadsheet, based on the authors manuscript; 4- Formal, harmonic, melodic and rhythmic analysis of the original composition; 5- Comparative analysis between the original work and the trio arrangement, with regard to compositional and performance practices akin to the popular and erudite languages.

"Oboe Trios: An Annotated Bibliography." Doctoral diss., 2014. http://hdl.handle.net/2286/R.I.26889.

Full text
Abstract:
abstract: This project is a practical annotated bibliography of original works for oboe trio with the specific instrumentation of two oboes and English horn. Presenting descriptions of 116 readily available oboe trios, this project is intended to promote awareness, accessibility, and performance of compositions within this genre. The annotated bibliography focuses exclusively on original, published works for two oboes and English horn. Unpublished works, arrangements, works that are out of print and not available through interlibrary loan, or works that feature slightly altered instrumentation are not included. Entries in this annotated bibliography are listed alphabetically by the last name of the composer. Each entry includes the dates of the composer and a brief biography, followed by the title of the work, composition date, commission, and dedication of the piece. Also included are the names of publishers, the length of the entire piece in minutes and seconds, and an incipit of the first one to eight measures for each movement of the work. In addition to providing a comprehensive and detailed bibliography of oboe trios, this document traces the history of the oboe trio and includes biographical sketches of each composer cited, allowing readers to place the genre of oboe trios and each individual composition into its historical context. Four appendices at the end include a list of trios arranged alphabetically by composer's last name, chronologically by the date of composition, and by country of origin and a list of publications of Ludwig van Beethoven's oboe trios from the 1940s and earlier.

Abstract:
This chapter looks at the triumph of Francis Poulenc's Les Biches, in which he took some time to fully absorb it and what it meant for him as a composer. It clarifies the significance of triumphs for composers and how they pose the problem of acting as markers against which anything a composer writes thereafter will be judged. The chapter looks into Poulenc's two new works in the whole of 1924 that was given the title of a piano concerto: Trio for oboe in May and Poèmes de Ronsard in December. It mentions Poulenc's work on the third movement of Napoli and revision of the Impromptus. It also describes the Violin Sonata for Jelly d'Aranyi that ultimately met the familiar fate of most of Poulenc's works for strings.

Abstract:
The letters sent to American composer and pianist Eugene Hemmer allow Dring to speak in her own voice for the first time since the early diaries, documents that allow a glimpse into her musical as well as her personal life. There is a brief discussion of The Florida International Music Festival, which featured the US premiere of her most popular instrumental composition, the Trio for Flute, Oboe, and Piano, a work which provides a splendid example of her later musical style. Other works that are discussed include The Real Princess, a ballet written for Mari Bicknell’s Cambridge Ballet Workshop, and four song cycles: Dedications, Love and Time, Five Betjeman Songs, and Four Night Songs. Also documented are the first professional recordings of her compositions and the spiritual journey she undertook in her last years, the latter illustrated by talks that she gave at the Centre for Spiritual and Psychological Studies. Finally, her sudden death from a brain aneurysm is related through letters of Roger Lord and other documents, followed by her memorial service and concerts in her honor at the RCM.

Abstract:
Austrian part of the Austrian-Slovak cross-border region in the hinterland of Bratislava is attractive for life to many Slovaks who have decided to move in here in recent years. The aim of the paper is to present the issue of cross-border residential suburbanization and transnational migration on the example of the Slovak population living in the Austrian border municipality of Kittsee. Through a questionnaire survey, we were trying to find out in which of the two countries (Slovakia and Austria) the respondents most often perform selected activities of everyday life, and what the reasons for and intensity of their trips to Slovakia are. The results of the survey showed that the majority of respondents carry out work activities and participate in cultural and sporting events mainly in Slovakia. On the contrary, in the municipality of residence or other Austrian municipalities, they mainly purchase daily consumer goods and their children attend pre-school and school facilities. The most common reason for traveling to Slovakia among the respondents is visiting family, friends and acquaintances. Based on the results, it is possible to state that in the Austrian-Slovak cross-border region there are tendencies of the phenomenon of transnational migration, in which the inhabitants enjoy the benefits of living in the area near the border.
