Abstract:
The advancements in the VLSI regime at lower technology node necessitate robust circuit design. Schmitt trigger design using domino logic style exhibit better hysteresis, higher noise margin, and reduced power consumption while compared to static CMOS Schmitt trigger design. This paper proposes three different Schmitt trigger designs based on domino logic style which produces a stable output with increased robustness against noise. The evaluation of dynamic logic-based Schmitt trigger using only NMOS transistors makes high speed operation feasible with reduced power consumption and increased hysteresis. The design, simulation, and analysis of the circuits are performed using Cadence Virtuoso using GPDK 180 nm technology library.

Abstract:
PurposeThe major purpose of this paper is to answer the overarching questions of how multinational corporations (MNCs) address the multiple institutional logics of accountability and pressures of the field in which they operate and how the dominant logic changes and shifts in response to such pressures pre- and post-disaster situation.Design/methodology/approachIn-depth interpretive textual analyses of multiple longitudinal data sets are conducted to study the case of the Fundão dam disaster. The data sources include historical documents, academic articles and public institutional press releases from 2000 to 2016, covering the environment leading to the case study incident and its aftermath.FindingsThe findings reveal how MNCs' plurality of and, at times, conflicting institutional logics shape the organizational behaviors, actions and nonactions of actors pre-, peri- and post-disaster. More specifically, the predominance bureaucracy embedded in the state-corporatist logic of the host country before a disaster allows the strategic subunit of an MNC to continue operating while causing various forms of environmental damage until a globally visible disaster triggers a reversal in the dominant logic toward the embrace of wider, global, emergent social and environmental accountability.Originality/valueThis paper contributes to discussions regarding the need to explore in depth of how MNCs respond to multiple institutional pressures in practice. This study extends the literature concerning disaster accountability, state-corporatism and logic-shifting by exploring how MNCs respond to the plurality of institutional logics and pressures over time and showing how, in some cases, logics not only reinforce but also contrast with each other and how a globally exposed disaster may trigger a shift in the dominant logic governing MNCs' responses.

Abstract The Muon Spectrometer of the ATLAS detector will be substantially modified during the Phase-II Upgrade to cope with the higher particle rates and radiation levels of the High-Luminosity LHC. The entire trigger and readout electronics of the Resistive Plates Chambers will be replaced. The Resistive Plate Chambers’ hit data will be collected by on-detector Data Transmitter and Collector boards and will be sent off-detector to the Sector Logic boards, which will perform the Level-0 barrel muon trigger algorithm and the readout logic. This contribution presents the design of the Phase-II barrel muon trigger and data acquisition system and the development of the barrel Sector Logic board firmware and its challenges.

Abstract A new FPGA-based low-level trigger processor has been installed at the NA62 experiment. It is intended to extend the features of its predecessor due to a faster interconnection technology and additional logic resources available on the new platform. With the aim of improving trigger selectivity and exploring new architectures for complex trigger computation, a GPU system has been developed and a neural network on FPGA is in progress. They both process data streams from the ring imaging Cherenkov detector of the experiment to extract in real time high level features for the trigger logic. Description of the systems, latest developments and design flows are reported in this paper.

Abstract:
The SCADA system, which is widely used in the continuous monitoring and control of the physical process of modern critical infrastructure, relies on the feedback control loop. The remote state estimation system triggers the control algorithm or control condition of the controller according to the monitoring data returned by the sensor. The controller sends the control command to the actuator, and the actuator executes the command to control the physical process. Since SCADA system monitoring and control data are usually transmitted through unprotected wireless communication networks, attackers can use false sensor data to trigger control algorithms to make wrong decisions, disrupt the physical processing of the SCADA system, and cause huge economic losses, even casualties. We found an attack strategy based on the sequential logic of sensor data. This kind of attack changes the time logic or sequence logic of the response data, so that the false data detector can be successfully deceived. This would cause the remote state estimation system to trigger wrong control algorithms or control conditions, and eventually disrupt or destroy the physical process. This paper proposes a sequential signature scheme based on the one-time signature to secure the sequential logic and transmission of sensor data. The security analysis proves that the proposed scheme can effectively resist counterfeiting, forgery, denial, replay attacks, and selective forwarding attacks.

Abstract:
Drug encapsulation is a thriving area where potential therapeutic improvements are important. In this regard, the ability to control drug release using ultrasound is attractive because it helps to locate and manage drug delivery. In my thesis project, I studied the possibility of using low ultrasonic intensities to control drug release. To do this, I used emulsions to encapsulate two types of drugs: "paclitaxel", an anticancer drug, and "levofloxacin", an antibiotic. Paclitaxel was encapsulated in an emulsion composed of nanodroplets comprising a core composed of oil and perfluorooctyl bromide (PFOB) stabilized by a fluorinated and biocompatible surfactant called Dendritac. Levofloxacin was encapsulated in an emulsion composed only of oily nanodroplets; we were able to reduce the diffusion of levofloxacin out of the droplet by adding esters of triglycerides. We investigated the ultrasound-triggered delivery of paclitaxel in the presence of a colorectal carcinoma cell line and levofloxacin in the presence of Escherichia coli. We have shown that ultrasound triggers the delivery of drugs for low sound pressures (0.4 Mpa) when using ultrasound at a frequency of 1 MHz with a duty cycle of 5% and a pulse repetition frequency of 200 Hz

Abstract:

The trigger logic system of an experimental apparatus is responsible for the data acquisition of that system, i.e., this system decides when data is to be collected. the LAND/ R3B collaboration trigger logic system was updated for the 2010 campaign. In this update the several parts of the trigger system in the different modules were included in one FPGA. This new module so-called VULOM is now responsible for the hole trigger logic and for setting the overall dead time. The FPGA use now implies a 10 ns jitter in the trigger logic signals. This thesis contains the description of the trigger logic system, the old and also the one included in the VULOM. In order to completely understand a experimental setup and the role of the trigger logics, it is necessary to go from the detectors through the conversion of electrical signals to the storage of data. This insight of the electronic setup allowed to start a dead time measurement project. This measurement project main goal is to keep under surveillance the local dead time of the several subsystems. To perform this, it is necessary to keep in mind how the system works and how to synchronize CPU clocks. A plan was outlined and a simulation program was developed to check for its feasibility. Our results suggest that the time required to perform the measurement can be reduced by 30% if the CPU clocks are only corrected with the clocks offset, disregarding the frequency offset. However some simulation improvements are required to further conclusions.

In recent years, power consumption is important issue on System on Chip and Very Large Scale Integration design. Besides the portable electronic products are indispensable on our life so that low-power IC design technique becomes a major trend. The clock system consists clock distribution network and storage elements (Flip-Flops、Latches), in which, storage elements power consumption account total power about 20~45% power of clock system. Therefore if we would reduce the flip-flops power consumption, the overall system could gain huge efficient on power consumption. Proposed circuits use a Hybrid-Logic technique that merge the PTL Logic to flip-flop successfully reduce the transistor counts and speed up the data propagation time and we employ TSMC 90nm and UMC 90nm to verify the proposed design performance, in dynamic latch part proposed design improved the PDP 25.9% and 27.94% respectively, further, in static latch part improved the PDP 12.6% and 11.68% respectively.

This study uses a non-contact optical three-dimensional displacement system and is applied to the contact probe for trigger measurement, and the signal is obtained by wireless signal transmission. The measurement system uses laser displacement sensing technology, and the structure is simple and small. It is mainly composed of a laser diode and a light position sensor, and the laser is displaced on the light position sensor through the change of the mechanism, thereby obtaining Measurement value. This research has developed a new type of contact trigger probe, which has simple structure and low cost. The self-assembled laser measurement system, through the verification of displacement measurement of the reverse measurement by the machine tool, the minimum trigger displacement of the X-axis, Y-axis and Z-axis of the probe is 0.1 μm. The 10 origin return errors of the probe X-axis, Y-axis, and Z-axis are 0.3 μm, 0.3 μm, and 0.2 μm, respectively. The dimension of the standard gauge gauge on this probe is limited by the accuracy of the machine tool. The measurement result is error on the X-axis of the probe by 2 μm, and the error on the Y-axis of the probe is 4 μm.

Abstract:

Abstract:
Relevance theory offers a model of communication where utterances are constantly updated by the speaker, inviting the listener to engage in a corresponding activity of inferential adjustment. In the case of literature, the potential time-scale of this activity is expanded, whether by the length of the text, the passage of historical time, or the demands of close reading. How then do incremental effects operate within the virtual time of literary utterance? How does one effect become a platform or trigger for others? This chapter touches on issues such as the situated logic of collocation and the ‘echoic’ as a way of approaching literary allusiveness, and brings together the micro-analysis of a line of poetry with a broader-scope reflection on the principles that operate over extended fictions. Adapting to literary understanding Davidson’s notion of a ‘passing theory’, it tracks the time-bound, ephemeral passage of verbal events through the reader’s cognitive focus.

Abstract:
Why are ethnic movements more likely to turn violent in some multiethnic countries than in others? Focusing on the long-term legacies of European colonialism, this book presents two ideal-typical logics of ethnic group mobilization—one of violent competition and another of nonviolent emancipatory opposition. The book’s theory first explains why ethnic grievances are translated into either violent or nonviolent forms of conflict as a function of distinct ethnic cleavage types, resulting from different colonial experiences. Violent intergroup conflict is least likely where settler colonialism resulted in persistent stratification, with ethnic groups organized as ethnoclasses. Such stratified societies are characterized by an equilibrium of inequality, in which historically marginalized groups lack both the organizational strength and the opportunities for armed rebellion. In contrast, where colonialism and decolonization divided ethnic groups into segmented, unranked subsocieties that feature distinct socioeconomic and cultural institutions, ethnic mobilization is more likely to trigger violent conflict. Second, the theory links this structural explanation to the political actors at the heart of ethnic movements—in particular, ethnic organizations. It elucidates how these organizations fuel the risk of civil conflict in segmented unranked societies, but peacefully promote the empowerment of historically marginalized groups in stratified societies. The book draws on an innovative mixed-methods design that combines large-n statistical analyses—using new data on the linguistic and religious segmentation of ethnic groups, as well as on ethnic organizations—with case studies based on original field research in four different countries in sub-Saharan Africa and Latin America.

Abstract:
AbstractSubformula linking is an interactive theorem proving technique that was initially proposed for (classical) linear logic. It is based on truth and context preserving rewrites of a conjecture that are triggered by a user indicating links between subformulas, which can be done by direct manipulation, without the need of tactics or proof languages. The system guarantees that a true conjecture can always be rewritten to a known, usually trivial, theorem. In this work, we extend subformula linking to intuitionistic first-order logic with simply typed lambda-terms as the term language of this logic. We then use a well known embedding of intuitionistic type theory into this logic to demonstrate one way to extend linking to type theory.

Estrada, Jorge. Ruthless Desires of Living Together in Roberto Bolaño’s 2666: Conviviality between Potestas and Potentia. Maria Sibylla Merian Centre Conviviality-Inequality in Latin America, March 2022. http://dx.doi.org/10.46877/estrada.2022.42.

Abstract:
A desire to live together is perhaps a key idea in Roberto Bolaño’s narratives. His characters are constantly negotiating their involvement in diverse societies amid the historical catastrophes of the twentieth century, so this desire becomes highly differentiated. It undergoes perspectival shifts and creates “mirror games”, which express scepticism towards universalising forms and trigger reflections on history and modernity. In this working paper, I examine how, in 2666, the cosmopolitan desire of a self-legislating and self-authorizing individual is disassembled and superseded by a convivial framework and a relational subject that is crossed by diverse determining forces. This transition is correlated to Bolaño’s diagnosis of late capitalism, in which a matrix of domination that worked with the logic of potestas is replaced by the channelling of potentia, i.e. an apparatus for capturing a flow of lives whose features only come to light in forensic discourse and project the fictional city of Santa Teresa.

Full text
Abstract:
The rate of fatalities at signalized intersections involving heavy vehicles is nearly five times higher than for passenger vehicles in the US. Previous studies in the US have found that heavy vehicles are twice as likely to violate a red light compared with passenger vehicles. Current technologies leverage setback detection to extend green time for a particular phase and are based upon typical deceleration rates for passenger cars. Furthermore, dilemma zone detectors are not effective when the max out time expires and forces the onset of yellow. This study proposes the use of connected vehicle (CV) technology to trigger force gap out (FGO) before a vehicle is expected to arrive within the dilemma zone limit at max out time. The method leverages position data from basic safety messages (BSMs) to map-match virtual waypoints located up to 1,050 ft in advance of the stop bar. For a 55 mph approach, field tests determined that using a 6 ft waypoint radius at 50 ft spacings would be sufficient to match 95% of BSM data within a 5% lag threshold of 0.59 s. The study estimates that FGOs reduce dilemma zone incursions by 34% for one approach and had no impact for the other. For both approaches, the total dilemma zone incursions decreased from 310 to 225. Although virtual waypoints were used for evaluating FGO, the study concludes by recommending that trajectory-based processing logic be incorporated into controllers for more robust support of dilemma zone and other emerging CV applications.
