Abstract:
Determining the most convenient plant location is one of the commonly encountered problems in engineering applications. This paper presents an Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) model, which is developed for selecting the optimum plant location for marble/travertine factories in natural stones processing industry. The whole criteria which affect the decision making process in marble industry were determined to solve plant location problem in the AHP model. To determine optimum marble plant location for a new marble factory, which is planned to install by a mining firm located in the Eskisehir region in Turkey, an analysis was carried out by introducing the AHP method which is one of the well-known classical Multiple Attribute Decision Making (MADM) methods. This analysis shows that the AHP method can successfully be applied for the selection of plant location as well as any decision making process in natural stone industry.

Abstract:
Clever decision making in the selection of building materials is a topic that focuses on important aspects of the building industry.‏ The materials used in the facade of the building not only affect the appearance of the building and the city but also affect the environmental, social, economic, energy efficiency and other kinds of aspects. Considering the importance of this issue, in this research, the city of Tehran‏ was studied in terms of building materials and tried to solve the problems of Tehran by identifying and analyzing the current situation. Statistical analysis was performed using R software packages version 3.5.0 and Microsoft Excel. The most important result of the data is that travertine has been identified as the most commonly used material in Tehran since the past 10 years. In this research, after examining the various types of materials used in the facade of the buildings in Tehran, we seek to discover the relationship between the type of building materials and the building age. In addition, after examining sample buildings, several common types of combinations of materials have been presented in the facades of Tehran's buildings. Abstract:
Globally, buildings are responsible for a significant share in energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions profiles. Various attempts are undertaken to increase the energy efficiency of buildings and reduce their environmental impact. In semi-continental climate conditions with very hot summers and extremely cold winters, buildings should be carefully designed to ensure efficient harnessing of solar energy and reducing energy loss due to poor insulation and inappropriate use of materials. Amidst the fast development of the construction industry, different façade systems are used in Kazakhstan. In several cases, the choice of the façade materials is defined not by performance but rather by economic aspects and physical appearance. This project aimed to investigate various types of façades adopted in the construction of residential buildings and assess their performance in terms of their impact on buildings’ energy consumption. The preliminary results indicate that there are five main types of façades widely used. Five different models were therefore built using energy simulation software and the respective energy consumption data were estimated. The results testify that buildings with brickwork (clay bricks) and stonework (travertine) façades were more energy efficient than those with brickwork (silica bricks), aluminum composite panels and decorated plaster façades.

"SAFEGUARDING OF MINERAL RAW MATERIALS DEPOSITS – A CONCEPT OF VALORIZATION AND SELECTION OF MINERAL DEPOSITS OF PUBLIC IMPORTANCE." Abstract:
The article presents a proposal for the new rules for the selection of deposits, which due to their value should be protected as Mineral Deposits of Public Importance (MDoPI) on national level. It was assumed that safeguarding should cover only the largest recognized deposits in terms of resources located in areas not excluding exploitation, which meet jointly two criteria: the total resources of the largest deposits should cover at least 50% of national geological resources and simultaneously they should meet the criterion of security of supply minerals for at least 50 years, with average demand calculated based on data from the last 10 years. Using the above criteria, analysis of the following deposits was performed: gypsum and anhydrite, basalt, granite, granodiorite, erratic boulder and syenite, dolomite, marl, travertine, limestone and dolomitic limestone, quartzite, greywacke, sandstone, quartzite sandstone, marl and limestone for the cement industry as well as limestone and marl for the lime industry. In total, 828 deposits were analyzed, and the assumed criteria were fulfilled in this group of deposits by a total number of 82 deposits. Among them, 6 deposits are very conflict, 71 – conflict, and 5 – partly conflict. In the case of several very conflict deposits, there is a high probability that their exploitation will not be possible, so meeting the criteria will require extending the list of deposits by 6 other ones. It was proposed that the verification of valorisation of deposits classified as MDoPI should be carried out periodically – not more often than every 5, but not less than every 10 years. This task should belong to the duties of the geological survey.
