Full textThe textile industry is highly relevant, particularly in developing countries such as Peru, as it ranks second place with respect to the sector that contributes the most to GDP in the manufacturing field. In 2019, textile sector problems represented 19% of the manufacturing sector, of which 25.4% were problems of Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSD), this due to bad practices and an inadequate design of workstations. The importance of working in a suitable work environment is directly related to the prevention of Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSD) and Work Absences. Several studies point out the importance of an adequate design, as well as the correct use of ergonomic methodologies, to be able to evaluate and validate them; however, these focus on the validation of the methodology and not on the process that ranges from formulating proposals to validating it. For this reason, this study focuses on a model of redesign of the workstation that ranges from design proposals to validation of the same; using observational ergonomic techniques such as REBA, RULA, NIOSH and SNOOK AND CIRIELLO, and engineering tools such as Materials Handling System (MHS), Method Study, Systematic Interrogation Technique (SIT) and Movement Economics. As a result, a 51.68% reduction of the MSD was obtained in the jobs of “Tendido”, “Remalle” and in the process of “Abastecimiento de Rollo”; likewise, a reduction of 364 hours of absenteeism and a saving of 6,000 soles per year approximately.

Full textLippalatine clefts are congenital malformations that occur due to lack of coalescence in the embryonic facial tissues in formation. There is an incidence of 1 for every 700 live births in the world. The aim of this investigation is to determine the musculoskeletal characteristics and speech production of patients with cleft lip and palate. The type of study is simple descriptive, where literature was reviewed and an evaluation protocol was created, it was applied to 9 subjects, female and male, between the ages of 5 and 12 years. As a result, a higher percentage of children with transforamen fissure, oronasal breathing and with compensatory articulation of stop glotal and fricative-pharyngeal beat and with frequent articulatory errors in the sounds / s / and / r / vibrant were obtained.

Full textObjective To determine the association between sleep quality and other factors with musculoskeletal pain in faculty of the School of Health Sciences in a Peruvian private University Material and methods A cross-sectional study was carried out with a total of 115 faculty belonging to the School of Health Sciences who answered a questionnaire with 81 musculoskeletal pain identification questions, a self-report provided by the PhD Edgar Vieira (7), the Pittsburg sleep quality questionnaire, and the Beck Anxiety Inventory. In relation to the analysis of multiple variables, Poisson regression with robust variance was used, where crude PR were calculated and adjusted with 95% CI. Results A total of 115 faculty were surveyed, with an average age of 41.44 + 10.46 years. 94% of the total sample showed pain in one or more parts of the body, while 90.4% of the mentioned percentage presented pain in the neck or upper back or lower back. In relation to the quality of sleep, those who presented disturbances of sleep of minimum level were 72.6%. It was observed that the presence of skeletal muscle pain was not associated with age, sex or with any level of quality of sleep (p> 0.05) Conclusions Although our study found no association of skeletal muscle pain with sleep quality, a high prevalence of musculoskeletal pain was found specifically in the cervical area and lower back for Faculty of all careers. In addition, there is no significant association between anxiety and skeletal muscle pain.

Full textCurrently, work related diseases have acquired great importance in the health field, as shown by the increase of this kind of attentions and changes at a legal level. In this context, SD N°595 is modified, manifesting the necessity to describe the risks factors present at a workplace in order to prevent the development of musculoskeletal disorders by intervening on physical load biomechanical factors (PLBF). In consequence, this study describes the presence of PLBF in a sample obtained in 3 health centers of Santiago’s north zone. Type of study consists of a descriptive, transversal method, and non experimental design. Data recording took place between October and December of 2011. The sample is non probabilistic and convenient, consisting of 30 individuals. MSD Risk Factor Screening checklist was applied during a rough time of 10 minutes prior to the medical consultation at each center, to every consecutive individual who met the inclusive/exclusive criteria. Results are expressed as relative mean to the correspondent score after 8 hours of exposure. The results, on exposure were: Held or forced positions62,7%, repetitive movements 52,4%, and manual load manipulation 50%. The exposure in shoulder cases was 69,59%, in elbow cases 67,65%, in wrist/hand cases 53,41%. Rotator cuff tendinitis was 30% prevalent. From the present study comes off that the physical load biomechanical factor of most exposure of the sample was held of forced positions, followed by repetitive movements and by manual load manipulation. Rotator cuff tendinitis was the most prevalent musculoskeletal disorder at the sample, and on each body segment the held or forced positions was the most exposure.
