Full textThe retail world, from large retailers to retail, is now experiencing a digital transformation that has completely revolutionized the ways of supply and purchase, as well as the expectations and habits of customers. Companies no longer sell just one product, but a complete experience (customer experience), engaging, personalized, able to adapt to customer needs and respond to their wishes. This experience unfolds through a complex path of interactions between the customer and the brand on different channels, from social media, to websites, physical and online stores, to large marketplaces. The competitiveness of companies will be based on their ability to integrate and exploit digital tools throughout the brand-customer interaction process. The physical stores will not disappear, but the experiences that will be lived there will change. They will become osmotic, fluid, multifunctional spaces. Sensors and multimedia devices will be integrated, which will make them responsive and sensitive. All these technologies will allow companies to learn more about their customers and what they prefer or do at any time during the purchase process. In this way they will be able to align the purchasing experiences in the physical world with the digital ones, offering a unique and coherent image of their brands. This research project is born and developed within this framework, which aims to provide an innovative contribution to the world of Customer Experience (CX) and Retail, through the definition of a holistic approach to the whole CX project and the development of a new tool for analyzing consumers' behaviors and emotions in the different touchpoints of the digital and physical experience and then adapting it to optimize the conversion rate and increase sales.

Full textStarting from a critical ecological approach, following the trend of feminist studies, the purpose of the research were to unmask the forms of gender oppression in educational contexts (transformative purpose) and to implemente transformative pedagogical practice in P.E. for gender equality (emancipatory purpose). Given the complexity of the school educational context and of the topic itself that intersects various domains of knowledge, a mixed methodological approach was adopted. First to build a configuration of the phenomenon object of interest through quantitative tools and then deepen it using qualitative techniques. The tools used were the questionnaire, structured interview, observations in situ, professional biographies and focus groups. In summary, the evidence that emerged in the literature and empirical, highlights the presence of gender stereotypes in P.E. lessons, taken in the form of unconscious practices that teachers reproduce following a habitus socialized in binary gender form and hierarchized. The sports world, where gender stereotypes are present for historical-cultural reasons and from which teachers often draw part of their professional knowledge, makes them unconscious participants of reinforcement of the stereotypes through the practices know as “hidden curriculum”. The term hidden underlines the lack of awareness of such practices. The possibility of revealing them requires specific training for teachers on the habit of reflection on teaching practices.

Full textThe contribution is inserted within that broad family of studies that wants to analyze and thematize the increasingly presence of ethnic and cultural differences within contemporary societies starting from the processes, the dynamics, and the meanings of those who are called to produce and reproduce them on a daily basis. In fact, it is a consolidated data that, under the pressure of migratory flows, multiethnicity has become a structurally incorporated factor in the cultural, social, and economic life of communities. At the local level, the empirical studies that deal with the transformations taking place in urban spaces with a high multiethnic rate return complex and often contradictory scenarios. Reference is made to those contributions that describe dense forms of life in which different perspectives, representations, norms, routines, and practices meet and collide. In this scenario, some places in particular are characterized by specific properties in terms of relational and learning potential. Thus, commercial establishments, are characterized as spaces in which the experience of direct encounter with differences can be detected generating sharing opportunities between different, sometimes unprecedented, ways of structuring life and work practices. Contact within daily trade practices can be structured as a source of informal learning significant or not that by calling into question the transformative perspective can generate both openness and dialogue as well as closure and distancing. The interpretative key offered by the transformative theory allows us to read commercial pluralism, understood as the set of different practices, routines, rules, commercial representations that unite a territory with a high multiethnic rate, as a device capable of stimulating learning through contact. Therefore, through commercial practice it may be possible to shape opportunities for the knowledge of new and different points of view through which individuals can give meaning to their experience, reflect on the ways in which they interpret cultural differences and consequently direct actions. What kinds of learning occur in cities that are transitioning towards experiences of cultural pluralism? What are the meanings attributed to differences by individuals who share spaces and activities? What role do commercial practices play? How do the relationships between traders with different ethnic and cultural backgrounds take shape? These are the questions that have formed the background of an in progress qualitative research that aims to bring together the reflections on the phenomenon of multiculturalization in the commercial sector, on the new urban scenarios that derive from it and on the different learning trajectories linked to these dynamics. The study’s object are the forms of learning encouraged by contact practices that shape relationships, behaviors, and interactions between traders with diversified ethnic and cultural backgrounds, their customers and the organizational actors of the trade associations. Starting from the assumption that fostering opportunities for contact between individuals with different ethnic and cultural backgrounds facilitates the development of a positive climate of pluralism and the acquisition of new meaning perspectives, we conducted ethnographic observations in a highly multiethnic neighborhood of a town in Central Italy and clinical interviews with traders with diversified ethnocultural backgrounds and with organizational actors of representative associations. The informal aggregations of traders, in this case, can be interpreted as systems of experts carrying explicit and implicit knowledge, thus representing a privileged field of detection of the knowledge produced.

Full textTomato is one of the most important crops of Italian agri-food sector and it is one of the main ingredient in the national culinary tradition. Fresh tomatoes can be processed by Food Industry into different categories (peeled tomatoes, tomato puree, chopped pulp, concentrate), which differ mainly for the production method used and the main features of finished product. The proportion of food expenditures going to the Food-away-from-home (FAFH) market is increasing globally. Food industry is then looking with higher interest for new business opportunities into this market channel. There is a large literature on consumers’ purchase behavior, but there are no evidences of studies on customers preferences in the Food Service market. This study analyses preferences of Food Service market customers for different types of processed tomato, according to some relevant product attributes and customer's characteristics. Data were collected through a hypothetical discrete choice experiment conducted in Italy and in some foreign markets. Results show that peeled tomatoes are the processed tomato type preferred by Food Service customers (35% of the preferences), followed by chopped pulp (25%) , tomato puree (20%) and tomato concentrate (15%). Econometric results, obtained through the estimation of a Random Parameter Logit model, indicate that customers’ preferences can be influenced by credence attributes of food products. Such kind of product characteristics are frequently used by Food Industry for market differentiation and positioning strategies in the Retail market; nonetheless, evidences from this survey suggest that they may play an important role also in influencing purchase decisions in the Food Service market. The findings of this study might be interesting for further researches on this market channel, using hypothetical and non-hypothetical methods jointly to test the robustness of these preliminary results.

Full textThe present research work concerned the environmental impact analysis of processed horticultural products through LCA tool (ISO 14040 ISO 14044) and some Product Category Rules. For the companies, Ambruosi & Viscardi and Promarche, were analysed respectively the following themes: the production of seedlings in polystyrene trays for four species of salads in greenhouse and the same after industry processing, including mitigation measures (A&V); the production of frozen string bean and spinach, considering alternative field and treatment management of production and residues treatment scenarios. The SimaPro software was used to draw up and rework the inventories and calculate the impacts. All the data entered were collected with interviews with field technicians and responsible for the various activities or with the consultation of the company management information systems. In the A&V case, substitutions have been proposed for the mitigation measures for salads production: the current substrate with compost; the sowing system with trays with compressed peat cubes; EPS cone trays with pyramid trays. Regarding fresh products, two scenarios were compared: base, in which the processing residues are sent to anaerobic digestion and the energy comes from photovoltaic systems; ex-ante, which provides for landfilling and energy purchased from the network. For Promarche, the impact of green bean production was analysed by comparing two scenarios of phytosanitary and herbicide treatment. For spinach, two fertilization scenarios were compared and a process of bio-treatment of residues was introduced through H. illucens, verifying the ability of the insect to degrade the waste. Regarding the results: the production of greenhouse seedlings shows impacts in line with what can be found in literature and the proposed mitigations are effective; the same is valid for salad production. The comparison between scenarios shows a saving in terms of average impact of 52% in favour of the current system; for green beans and spinach, comparisons between phytosanitary treatment and fertilization treatment systems show how alternative scenarios are less impactful; the production of compost obtained from the breeding of H. illucens on spinach residues shows impacts comparable to those of the current disposal system.

Full textThe research is part of a workplace doctorate. It explores the relationship between the experience of crisis and transformational processes in the field of social work in disability services. The research is connected with theoretical studies that, in the field of adult education, have investigated the topic of transformative learning within a systemic and complexity framework. The research activity began in March 2020 and ended in June 2022. It involved a system of services for adults with disabilities in the province of Lecco (Lombardy) in an exploratory enquiry (interviews, focus-groups) aimed at understanding what was happening in the services following the arrival of the pandemic emergency. Following this investigation, training needs emerged in the field which led to the realisation of three different research-training courses involving coordinators, social workers, volunteers and family members of persons with intellectual disabilities. The research used a cooperative methodology. At the end of the data collection phase (July 2021) there followed a meta-reflection on the entire research pathway based on the performative research methodology. It led to the realisation of a dance video-performance that was disseminated in different academic and non-academic contexts.
BERNI, VERONICA. "Il teatro in carcere come esperienza trasformativa. Un caso di studio etnografico sul dispositivo educativo in atto all’interno del laboratorio teatrale dell’I.P.M. “C. Beccaria” di Milano." Doctoral thesis, Università degli Studi di Milano-Bicocca, 2022. http://hdl.handle.net/10281/375878.
Full textFrom a pedagogical perspective, the research investigates the educational dispositive within the theatre laboratory of the Juvenile Penal Institute 'C. Beccaria' in Milan. Through an ethnographic research methodology (Bove, 2009) framed in the research strategy of the intrinsic case study (Stake, 1994), the participant observation phase took place from November 2019 to February 2020. The theoretical framework that made it possible to analyze the research data is Riccardo Massa's pedagogical theory, which identifies the methodological, pragmatic and structural dimensions of the educational dispositive as the object of pedagogical research (Massa, 1986, 1987). This theoretical framework has guided field observation and has been used for the analysis of the data, which have been read and systematized through this theory. The analysis traced the educational dispositive within the theatre laboratory and qualified the structure of the experience as a community and transitional dispositive that works like a game. The research has therefore opened to a final interpretation of the theatre experience in prison in the light of the theories on playing (Fink, 2008; Huizinga, 1946; Winnicott, 1971) and of the theoretical constructs of "heterotopic space" (Foucault, 2002), and "liminoid phenomenon" (Turner, 1986). In the light of these theories, theatre in prison has been interpreted as a transformative and educational experience by virtue of its fictional, liminal and transitional dimension: a potential area (Mottana, 1993) that establish, within a total institution like the prison, a generative discontinuity and an intermediate and mediative zone, of threshold, contact and symbolic and material passage between outside and inside, between reality and possibility. The case study has been framed by an analysis of national and international literature on the state of the art of the phenomenon of theatre in prison and placed among the studies that, within this panorama, interpret it from a peculiar pedagogical perspective.

Full textThe existing research in leadership has explored which style of leadership that generates the best results for the organization and has the most positive effect for the follower. This study looked at some of the most common leadership styles, Transformative, Transactional and Leader-Member Exchange (LMX), and how they were rated by the followers. A form containing four fictitious manager descriptions were used. The result showed that transformative leadership and low level of LMX were rated highest. The fact that low level of LMX was rated higher than high level contradicts existing research claims. Cultural differences are suggested to account for the different rating of LMX in this research.

Maina, Juliet Wangui. "Exploring key elements for e-trasformation in commercial banks in Kenya." Thesis, 2016. http://hdl.handle.net/10539/22597.
Full textDigital transformation on a national level is a framework that has been applied to a number of different contexts. Studies in both developed and developing countries have exhibited digital transformation in a manner that reflects its applicability across contexts and scenarios. However, this research explored what happens when the same is applied to organizational contexts in a developing country. The research did not divert too far from the national application of a digital transformation framework, but merely sought to incorporate the organizational perspective, and the different considerations that arise in commercial banks in Kenya; an area which was previously under-explored. A conceptual framework was developed to study only particular elements of digital transformation from qualitative analysis and different sources of data. The findings of this study illustrated that there is a huge uptake of technologies in these commercial banks, but also notes a significant number of limitations that currently exist. The report concludes with proposals as to how these limitations can be addressed through various recommendations, and also considers other avenues for improvement, and future research that can later be applied other contexts.

In this thesis, we introduce an efficient algorithm for pricing discrete Asian options with fixed strike price. Our algorithm does not rely on the Black-Scholes assumption and is flexible for many kinds of underlying densities. Our algorithm can be applied to capturing many empirical phenomena, such as fat-tail effect. Based on the Fast Fourier Transform (FFT), our algorithm using Simpson’s rule and the 3rd-order polynomial interpolation is an enhanced version of the algorithms of Carverhill and Clewlow (1992) and Benhamou (2002). The contribution of this thesis is an improved convergence rate to the order of 4.

Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway has been mentioned that plays an important role in cell-proliferation and cell-differentiation, which has been widely implicated and documented in associated with carcinogenesis. Within this pathway, another protein, Chibby, is located at chromosome 22q12-q13 and consisted of 126 amino acids, is discovered to antagonist the Wnt/β-catenin signaling. Recently, Chibby has been suggested as a putative tumor suppressor gene, and it is usually down-regulated in different types of cancer or cell lines which may be associated with tumorigenesis. Therefore, we had collected the paraffin-embedded sections of cervix (2005-2010) with different pathological features (Normal cervix, CIN 1, CIN 2, CIN 3, Invasive squamous cell carcinoma). These samples were subject to detect mRNA expression levels of Chibby and β-catenin by real-time PCR technique, and measured for protein expression and cellular localization of Chibby and β-catenin using immunohistochemistry. The expression of Chibby and β-catenin were analyzed for possible association with disease progression of cervical cancer, as well as patients’ prognosis. In this study, the cytoplasmic and nuclear expressions of chibby were not correlated with the cytoplasmic and nuclear localization of β-catenin. Both nuclear and cytoplasmic expressions of chibby were reduced in cervical cancers, and down-regulation of Chibby was associated with advanced disease of cervical cancer, indicating it may be a putative tumor suppressor in cervical cancer. β-catenin mRNA expression is also a biomarker for evaluating the disease progression of cervical cancer.

This thesis explores the impact of democratization impact on Taiwanese welfare institution and argues that democratic transition results in the state disability on the National Pension Insurance. Before 1980s, the authoritarian state with strong capacity and will to lead economic development and social policy. It was thus explained as one typical case of so-called productivist welfare regime. After 1990s, democratization and economic liberalization limited state capabilities to lead economic development. However, due to electoral competition, the ruler must gain public support by social policy. Thus, Taiwan''s welfare system was gradually transformed into developmental welfare regime. After 2000, The new government faced the consequences of economic liberalization, political conflict, and the challenges of different interest groups. All these factors constrained the state capacity to sustain the developmental welfare regime. In this thesis, the author discusses the failure of the integration of the National Pension Insurance after 2000. Due to democratization, state capacity for welfare developmentalism has been weakens during in 2000-2008. In conclusion, the East Asian developmental welfare regime has changed in the case of Taiwan.

Reviewed the early Taiwan economic development model, which has just started to accept the outsourcing orders and OEM (original equipment manufacturing) business from advanced countries like Europe and America , then gradually developed unique advantages in Taiwan"s foundry industry. By the 1980s, Taiwan production cost and environmental protection consciousness rise, adjacent to the emerging countries, such as Southeast Asia and Mainland China also began to imitate Taiwan"s OEM development mode, resulting in Taiwan original production advantages and profits cannot be sustained, some manufacturers had to move the factories to other places with low production cost to continue its OEM business, some manufacturers transfer to do R & D design ODM (original design manufacture) or develop their own brand OBM (own brand manufacture) business. This research mainly interviewed the case company founded in 1988 - Home Resource Industrial Co Ltd, which has mainly engaged in manufacture and exported lighting products to over 50 countries across the world in last 2 decades. The results showed that transformational leadership was correlated positively to age and correlated negatively to training years. Positive correlations were also among the intrinsic motivation, age, and transformational leadership. Male athletes perceived more transactional leadership than female athletes.
