Abstract:
Abstract As the real common generalisations of both orthodox transversals and adequate transversals in the abundant case, the concept of refined generalised quasi-adequate transversal, for short, RGQA transversal was introduced by Kong and Wang. In this paper, an interesting characterization for a generalised quasi-adequate transversal to be refined is acquired. It is shown that the product of every two quasi-ideal RGQA transversals of the abundant semigroup S satisfying the regularity condition is a quasi-ideal RGQA transversal of S and that all quasi-ideal RGQA transversals of S compose a rectangular band. The related results concerning adequate transversals are generalised and enriched.

OBJETIVO: Avaliação de exames radiográficos de portadores de megacólon chagásico, estabelecendo parâmetros que possibilitem uma classificação prática da evolução da doença. MÉTODO: Foram analisados 76 enemas opacos de pacientes com megacólon chagásico e 59 de pacientes normais de acordo com a sorologia. Nestas radiografias foi medido o diâmetro transverso do sigmóide à altura de uma linha imaginária que passa pelas espinhas ilíacas ântero-superiores. Estas medidas foram submetidas à análise de distribuição de freqüência, a partir da qual se construíram tabelas e se estabeleceu uma classificação de 1 a 3. RESULTADOS: Cinquenta e dois pacientes, todos normais, apresentaram diâmetros transversos de sigmóide entre 2 e 5 cm; 29 entre 5 e 9 cm (22 chagásicos e sete normais); 38, todos chagásicos, entre 9 e 13 cm e 16, todos também chagásicos, acima de 13 cm CONCLUSÕES: Propomos uma divisão do megacólon chagásico em Graus, com as seguintes características: no Grau 1, o eixo transversal mede entre 5 cm e 9 cm (inclusive); no Grau 2, o eixo transversal mede entre 9 cm e 13 cm (inclusive) e no Grau 3, agruparam-se todos os eixos transversais com medidas superiores a 13 cm.

Wang (Filomat 29(5), 985-1005, 2015) introduced and investigated quasi-Ehresmann transversals of semi-abundant semigroups satisfy conditions (CR) and (CL) as the generalizations of orthodox transversals of regular semigroups in the semi-abundant case. In this paper, we give two characterizations for a generalized quasi-Ehresmann transversal to be a quasi-Ehresmann transversal. These results further demonstrate that quasi-Ehresmann transversals are the ?real? generalizations of orthodox transversals in the semi-abundant case. Moreover, we obtain the main result that the product of any two quasi-ideal quasi-Ehresmann transversals of a semi-abundant semigroup S which satisfy the certain conditions is a quasi-ideal quasi-Ehresmann transversal of S.

Abstract:
Multiplicative inverse transversals of regular semigroups were introduced by Blyth and McFadden in 1982. Since then, regular semigroups with an inverse transversal and their generalizations, such as regular semigroups with an orthodox transversal and abundant semigroups with an ample transversal, are investigated extensively in literature. On the other hand, restriction semigroups are generalizations of inverse semigroups in the class of non-regular semigroups. In this paper we initiate the investigations of E-semiabundant semigroups by using the ideal of "transversals". More precisely, we first introduce multiplicative restriction transversals for E-semiabundant semigroups and obtain some basic properties of E-semiabundant semigroups containing a multiplicative restriction transver- sal. Then we provide a construction method for E-semiabundant semigroups containing a multiplicative restriction transversal by using the Munn semigroup of an admissible quadruple and a restriction semigroup under some natural conditions. Our construction is similar to Hall's spined product construction of an orthodox semigroup. As a corollary, we obtain a new construction of a regular semigroup with a multiplicative inverse transversal and an abundant semigroup having a multiplicative ample transversal, which enriches the corresponding results obtained by Blyth-McFadden and El-Qallali, respectively.

INTRODUCTION: Desde o advento da osseointegração descrita por Branemark nos anos 60, muitas novas técnicas têm sido propostas dentro das fixações rígidas de fraturas ósseas. OBJECTIVE: O objetivo deste estudo foi determinar se uma nova técnica de inserção de pinos transversais reversos poderia aumentar a estabilidade dos fixadores esqueléticos externos do tipo II (ESF) em cães em comparação com um ESF alternativo do mesmo lado. METHODOLOGY: A técnica de pino transversal reverso e a ESF do tipo II da mesma técnica de pino transversal lateral foram aplicadas e comparadas entre os animais. RESULTS: Dois dos 42 ESFs (4,8%) aplicados com a técnica de pino transversal transversal reverso e 39 dos 47 ESFs (83%) aplicados com a mesma técnica de pino transversal lateral eram subjetivamente instáveis ​​no momento da remoção do fixador ( P <0,001). Os ESF pino transversal mesma laterais tinham significativamente mais pino tracto nova formação de osso do que os ESF reversa-transversais ( P= 0,038). AbstractIn this paper, another relationship between the quasi-ideal adequate transversals of an abundant semigroup is given. We introduce the concept of a weakly multiplicative adequate transversal and the classic result that an adequate transversal is multiplicative if and only if it is weakly multiplicative and a quasi-ideal is obtained. Also, we give two equivalent conditions for an adequate transversal to be weakly multiplicative. We then consider the case when I and Λ (defined below) are bands. This is analogous to the inverse transversal if the regularity condition is adjoined.

We consider the lift of a foliation to its conormal bundle and some transverse geometrical structures associated with this foliation are studied. We introduce a good vertical connection on the conormal bundle and, moreover, if the conormal bundle is endowed with a transversal Cartan metric, we obtain that the lifted foliation to its conormal bundle is a Riemannian one. Also, some transversally framedf(3, ε)-structures of corank 2 on the normal bundle of lifted foliation to its conormal bundle are introduced and an almost (para)contact structure on a transverse Liouville distribution is obtained.

Abstract:
The work that we are presenting in this document has its origins in IBEROTEC´s model of tutoring. It evolved from an educational proposal about working with transverse competences that made tutoring a tool for the development of these competences. Tutoring is very important, but secondary, in light of the objectives of the formation that intends to reach a particular graduate profile. In this sense, we saw the necessity of generating four principles to orient academic administration and the actions of tutors and teachers. Thus, what this document proposes is a model of academic administration oriented by the following four ideas: the student is autonomous and Iberotec´s principal idea is to contribute to that; the teachers are “learning provocateurs”, they provoke student´s learning; the work is formative; the institution is facilitating. These principles are more than a declaration of intention; they are a series of criteria for daily decision making and for the design of courses and the action plan for tutoring.
El trabajo que presentamos en este documento tiene su origen en el modelo de tutorías de IBEROTEC. Este devino en una propuesta educativa para el trabajo de competencias transversales, dejando a la tutoría como una herramienta para el desarrollo de competencias. Esta última es una herramienta muy importante pero secundaria frente a los objetivos de formación. En este sentido nos vimos en la necesidad de generar 4 principios que orientan la gestión académica, administrativa y la acción de los tutores y profesores. Así, lo que se propone en este documento es un modelo de gestión académica orientado desde las 4 ideas siguientes: El alumno es autónomo y la principal tarea de Iberotec es contribuir a ello; los profesores y tutores son “provocadores de aprendizaje”; el trabajo es formativo; la institución es facilitadora. Estos principios son, más que una declaración de intención, una serie de criterios para la toma de decisiones cotidianas, el diseño de unidades didácticas y del plan de acción tutorial.

Neste trabalho é proposta uma abordagem analítica para o cálculo modal de diversas configurações de vigas de Euler-Bernoulli com propriedades da seção transversal contínuas sujeitas a condições de contorno clássicas e não clássicas. A metodologia proposta está baseada em condições de normalização para as soluções da equação modal, originando uma fórmula modal associada com propriedades físicas e matemáticas da viga. Para o caso de vigas monossegmentadas não é requerido o uso do computador no cálculo dos modos. As formas modais dos diversos tipos de vigas consideradas podem ser expressas em termos das funções de Bessel, funções triangulares e funções hiperbólicas. Para fins de ilustração. é apresentado um caso de rigidez fiexural e massa linear do tipo polinomial de quarta ordem.
In this work, it is proposed an analytical approach for the modal determination of various configurations of Euler-Bernoulli bearns with continuous crosssection properties constrained with classical and non-classical boundary conditions. The proposed approach is based on normal conditions for the solutions of the modal equation, yielding a modal formula associated with mathematical and physical properties of the beam. For the mono-segmented case it is not required tbe use of computer for the modal determination. The modes of the various types of beam considered can be expressed in terms of Bessel, triangular and hyperbolic functions. For illustration, it is presented a case of fourth-order polynomial-type flexural stiffness and linear mass.

O presente trabalho resulta de estudos das políticas nacionais para a educação na década de 1990 e discute sua relação com as orientações emanadas de agências multilaterais - como Banco Mundial, CEPAL, UNESCO - e o modo pelo qual tais políticas foram desencadeadas e consolidadas no Brasil. Indica a importância, entre as diretrizes do MEC, da definição dos Parâmetros Curriculares Nacionais - PCNs e investiga mais detalhadamente a inclusão da sexualidade como um dos Temas Transversais, assim como as concepções de orientação sexual e educação sexual. A primeira aparece envolta em ambigüidades, podendo ser interpretada como a orientação do desejo que cada pessoa imprime à sua vivência sexual, ou como prática educativa da sexualidade. A segunda é abordada como uma investigação histórico-crítica da sexualidade. Destaca os conteúdos definidos para a orientação sexual, nos PCNs, em três blocos: corpo, relações de gênero e prevenção das doenças sexualmente transmissíveis/Aids. Estes conteúdos não constituem objeto de estudo de uma disciplina, mas, ao contrário, responsabiliza-se todas as disciplinas pela sua abordagem. O texto expõe as bases para o trabalho pedagógico com a sexualidade em transversalidade e extraprogramação, apresentando a conceituação de transversalidade presente nos Parâmetros, assim como outras dimensões escolares da transversalidade.

Abstract:
Sandwich structures made up by foam core and carbon fiber face-sheets are now seen as a promising technical solution for the design of railway carbodies by many railway manufacturers. Despite their numerous advantages over the classical metallic structures, transversal load introduction usually result in high stresses in the core of a sandwich structure. Hence, the fastening of equipment on a sandwich carbody must be studied carefully. The focus of this thesis has been put on the seat fastenings. Several technical solutions were compared. A metallic part, called a C-rail, adhesively bonded on the top of the sandwich panel represents the best solution according to the requirements. The aim of the C-rail is to spread the load and therefore lower the stress concentration in the core. The reaction loads at the seat fastenings, when the seats are loaded according to the European norms, where calculated using finite element (FE) analysis. Guidelines for the design of the C-rail were developed, based on 2D FE models. The focus was put on the reduction of stress concentration in the core. It was shown that an optimal C-rail cross section can be found for a specific sandwich panel. An analytical solution of the residual shear stresses induced by thermal expansion was developed to facilitate the choice of adhesive. It was shown that thick adhesive layers with low shear stiffness have the best strength with respect to temperature changes. Based on the 2D FE model, efficient techniques were derived for the modeling of adhesive layers. The influence of the face-sheet and adhesive modelisation on the stress distribution in the adhesive was studied. For that purpose, several combinations of material properties for the face-sheet and adhesive were investigated. In particular a spring based model of the adhesive was derived in order to include the face-sheet out of plane stiffness. It was shown that the stiffness of the adhesive have a high influence on the stress distribution in the adhesive layer. A 3D model was built up in order to investigate the load cases derived at the fastenings and to validate the qualitative studies based on the 2D models. The choice of the final sandwich panel depends on numerous issues such as sound insulation, dynamic properties or weight.Various sandwich configurations were investigated in order to determine the influence of issues related to equipment fastening on the final choice of sandwich panel. The face-sheet bending stiffness as well as the core stiffness were identified as the key parameters regarding the sandwich panel out of plane strength. The panel configuration obtained by weight optimization of the carbody represents the weakest configuration with respect to out of plane load introduction. Note that the solution proposed fulfilled the requirements for that configuration.

In 2007 Babaioff, Immorlica, and Kleinberg formulated the matroid secretary problem, elegantly tying together the field of matroid theory with generalizations of the secretary problem. In this thesis, we introduce the reader to matroids and the secretary problem, before diving into Babaioff et al's definition and a survey of recent results. We then focus on the important special case of the transversal matroid secretary problem. We formulate a previously undefined class of transversal matroids and give a constant competitive algorithm for them. We also provide the tightest known analysis of Plaxton and Dimitrov's recent 2008 algorithm for the transversal matroid secretary problem and thereby give the tightest known competitive ratio for this problem.
En 2007, Babaioff, Immorlica, et Kleinberg formulèrent la version matroïdale du problème du secrétaire (matroid secretary problem), liant de façon élégante la théorie des matroïdes à des généralisations du problème du secrétaire. Dans cette thèse, nous introduisons le lecteur aux matroïdes et au problème du secrétaire, avant de nous lancer dans la définition de Babaioff et al. et dans une étude de résultats récents. En suite nous nous concentrons sur l'important cas spécial du transversal matroid secretary problem. Nous formulons une classe de matroïdes transversales qui n'a pas été defini auparavant, et présentons un algorithme c-compétitif (c une constante) pour cette classe. Nous fournissons aussi l'analyse la plus rigoureuse que l'on connaisse de l'algorithme récent (2008) de Plaxton et Dimitrov pour le transversal matroid secretary problem, ainsi donnant le meilleur rapport de compétitivité que l'on connaisse pour ce problème.

Consider the following fundamental geometric problem: given a family of convex sets in the plane, does there exist a line that intersects every member of the family? Such a line is known as a line transversal for the family. The problem has been considered for many different families of objects. In general, $ Omega(n log n)$ time is required to compute a line transversal of a family of n objects. In this thesis, it is shown that several line transversal problems can be solved in $O(n)$ time. The problem of computing a shortest line segment that intersects every member of a family of objects is also considered. In particular, $O(n log n)$ time algorithms are proposed for computing a shortest transversal of a family of n lines and of a family of n line segments. As well, an $O(n log sp2 n)$ time algorithm for computing a shortest transversal of a family of convex polygons with a total of n vertices is presented. Our algorithm for the line segment version of the shortest transversal problem is optimal.

Abstract:
This thesis analyses conflict dynamics in West Africa and assesses the role of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) as a security organisation in its response to armed conflict. In so doing, it argues that conventional approaches misinterpret key feature of the civil wars in the “Greater Mano River Area” which includes Liberia, Sierra Leone and C??te d’Ivoire. It demonstrates that the progression and spread of conflict is engendered primarily by transversal political structures. The thesis utilises a critical international society approach to consider patterns of security and insecurity across the sub-region of West Africa. However, rather than accepting that West African politics operates within a single, comprehensive international society, it argues instead that it should be understood at two levels. One level is state-centric international society, where West African inter-state relations can largely be explained according to existing constructivist paradigms. At the second level is “transversal” society that cuts across state borders, generating a regional, normative structure that prescribes and constrains behaviour within and between communities outside of the international society framework. The thesis proceeds in two parts. In the first section it works towards an understanding of the transversal politics of regional conflict in the Greater Mano River Area. Conflict is nominally internal, and centralised state authority is the object of both attack and transformation. However, a close examination of civil violence in Liberia, Sierra Leone and C??te d’Ivoire reveals that it cannot be completely understood without recognising the non-state structures of authority and domination that disrupt the traditional domestic/international divide. The transversal communities generated by conflict create a regional cycle of violence that is resistant to efforts made to resolve it. The second section of the thesis is concerned with the ability of ECOWAS to foster durable peace. As West Africa’s key regional organisation, ECOWAS would seem well-placed to respond to regional conflict. It is well-integrated, has significant normative legitimacy and has developed sophisticated security mechanisms. Critically however, as it was created within inter-state international society, ECOWAS is limited by its assumption that states are and should remain unitary actors. Its failure ultimately lies in its inability to respond to the alternative political contours of transversal communities.

Estas actividades se refieren tanto a la dimensión oral como a la escrita. En el primer caso se utilizan fundamentalmente presentaciones y también vídeos. En el segundo caso abundan los proyectos y las memorias realizadas sobre los trabajos de laboratorio. En todos los casos, la evaluación se realiza mediante el uso de una rúbrica elemental, creada ex profeso, que identifica aquellos aspectos en los que se desea incidir.

En este artículo se describen las diferentes maneras en que se evalúa la competencia transversal “Pensamiento crítico” en la Facultad de Administración y Dirección de Empresas de la UPV. Existe un proyecto institucional de competencias transversales en la universidad que enmarca este proceso. Mostramos que se dan diferentes formas de evaluación de la competencia transversal, incluso con cambios entre cursos dentro de una misma asignatura. Esta situación se debe a dificultades encontradas en relación al tiempo disponible, a la actitud de los alumnos hacia las competencias transversales y al tamaño de grupo. Además, es difícil evaluar aisladamente la adquisición de esta competencia transversal de otras como por ejemplo resolución de problemas. La diversidad de formas de evalua r esta competencia contribuye a cierta confusión acerca de las consecuencias de la evaluación particular en cada asignatura, y por tanto, se concluye proponiendo una simplificación.

El sistema europeo de educación superior ha pasado de un contenido de aprendizaje a una orientación basada en los resultados de aprendizaje y el desarrollo de competencias. La Facultad de Administración y Dirección de Empresas (FADE) desarrolla las 13 competencias relacionadas con el aprendizaje de los contenidos. En esta comunicación, desarrollaremos la competencia "CT-12 Planificación y Gestión del Tiempo" que fue elegida como punto de control en las siguientes asignaturas: en un 1er nivel en las asignaturas "Dirección de producción y operaciones" y "Matemáticas financieras" y en un 2º nivel en las asignaturas "Banca y Bolsa", "Dirección de Recursos Humanos" y "Valoración de Empresas". Explicaremos las metodologías de evaluación aplicadas en cada una de las asignaturas, así como el desarrollo de las ventajas y desventajas observadas en el desarrollo de la competencia TC-12. Bajo la visión metodológica de acción-investigación y la observación crítica de la enseñanza en las asignaturas “Dirección de producción y Operaciones", "Matemáticas Financieras", "Banca y Bolsa", "Dirección de Recursos Humanos" y "Valoración de Empresas". En este trabajo presentamos una metodología que ha sido empleada para la evaluación (por pares y autoevaluación) de la Competencia Transversal de Trabajo en equipo y Liderazgo en la asignatura Gestión de Recursos Humanos del Grado en Gestión y Administración Püblica de la Universitat Politècnica de València. A partir de la recogida de datos, hemos calculado un coeficiente de adecuación para comprobar el grado de ajuste de la evaluación por pares y la autoevaluación con el nivel definido por las profesoras. Así mismo, hemos comprobado si el trabajo en equipo y el trabajo individual del estudiante a lo largo del semester se han apoyado o uno de ellos ha favorecido su calificación final. Este método se puede extrapolar a nuevas asignaturas del Grado o de cualquier otro título dada su implementación a medida para cada caso.

Autonomous vehicles (AVs) utilize multiple devices, like high-resolution cameras and radar sensors, to interpret the driving environment and achieve full autonomy. One of these instruments—the light detection and ranging (LiDAR) sensor—utilizes pulsed infrared (IR) light, typically at wavelengths of 905 nm or 1,550 nm, to calculate object distance and position. Exterior automotive paint covers an area larger than any other exterior material. Therefore, understanding how LiDAR wavelengths interact with vehicle coatings is extremely important for the safety of future automated driving technologies. Sensing technologies and materials are two different industries that have not directly interacted in the perception and system sense. With the new applications in the AV industry, multidisciplinary approaches need to be taken to ensure reliability and safety in the future. Unsettled Topics Concerning Coating Detection by LiDAR in Autonomous Vehicles provides a transversal view of different industry segments, from pigment and coating manufacturers to LiDAR components and vehicle system development and integration. The report includes a structured decomposition of the different variables and technologies involved.
