Abstract:
Overview After a Preamble that discusses a transitional justice outreach guide and discourses related to time and space, Chapter 1, “Progression,” considers two earlier transitions obscured by the discourses of the transitional justice imaginary. The first comprised a series of initiatives, including a tribunal, undertaken by the People’s Republic of Kampuchea (PRK) immediately after Democratic Kampuchea (DK) (1979 to late 1980s). Cambodia’s second post-DK transition involved the transitional democratization and human rights efforts undertaken related to the United Nations Transitional Authority in Cambodia (UNTAC) in the early 1990s.More detailed discussionDrawing on the experience of Thun Saray and Kassie Neou, two leading Cambodian human rights advocates, “Progression” explores how the transitional justice imaginary involve temporal erasures, masking other important historical post-DK “currents” that inform the current transitional justice moment. These include a first post-DK “transition” undertaken by the PRK regime in the 1980s and a second transition: UN democratization and peacebuilding efforts during the early 1990s, which helped catalyze a proliferation of Cambodian human rights NGOs. The current “transition,” in other words, follows two other important transitional moments that are largely obscured even as they mediate the current moment in different ways. In making this point, the chapter also discusses Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia (ECCC) defense arguments highlighting temporal erasures, including the pre- and post- DK (the period of Khmer Rouge rule) events that, they contended, undermined a standardized “Manichean” historical narrative about DK—one that, if taken-for-granted, was highly politicized and thereby raised questions about the impartiality and credibility of the court.

Abstract:
Chapter 8, Transitions, provides an inside look at how AIIB’s governing bodies were created in the transition from negotiations to establishment and operation. First, the context and considerations for the transitional arrangements are explained, for the Prospective Founding Members and for AIIB as an international organization. The legal requirements for AIIB’s actual establishment are summarized and the development of basic documents and policies is noted. Particular attention is given to the transitional arrangements for AIIB’s governing bodies (President-designate and the Boards), and the Inaugural Meetings of the Board of Governors and Board of Directors. Innovative options were developed for leadership selection, inaugural Board of Directors and prospective member representation. Tables show attendance at meetings of the Board of Governors, and how the make-up of the Board of Directors has changed.

Abstract:
Formidable challenges confront Australia and its human settlements: the mega-metro regions, major and provincial cities, coastal, rural and remote towns. The key drivers of change and major urban vulnerabilities have been identified and principal among them are resource-constraints, such as oil, water, food, skilled labour and materials, and carbon-constraints, linked to climate change and a need to transition to renewable energy, both of which will strongly shape urban development this century. Transitions identifies 21st century challenges to the resilience of Australia’s cities and regions that flow from a range of global and local influences, and offers a portfolio of solutions to these critical problems and vulnerabilities. The solutions will require fundamental transitions in many instances: to our urban infrastructures, to our institutions and how they plan for the future, and perhaps most of all to ourselves in terms of our lifestyles and consumption patterns. With contributions from 92 researchers - all leaders in their respective fields - this book offers the expertise to chart pathways for a sustainability transition.

Abstract:
Chapter 2 examines political factors and social influences that contributed to the construction of the Legend of Living Buddhas, a benchmark for the institutional and artistic shift from Chinese Chan to Japanese Zen. It aims to answer the question of how the Zen monastic institution managed to gain a wide following of religious leaders and their disciples as well as lay followers, especially Song-dynasty literati, after struggling for centuries to grow in China beginning with the historical background of the Tang dynasty. Stressing the commercial network of maritime routes linking China and Japan, along with cultural as well as commercial connections that inspired monks to make the daring trip across the waters, the chapter shows how transnational relationships formed between creative priests from both countries, particularly in regard to the mythology of Living Buddhas.

Abstract:
This chapter investigates the rituals of transition in the lives of Venetian nuns: the clothing ceremony (or vestizione), the profession, and the consecration, as well as those for the election of an abbess and funerals. Music, often quite elaborate, was an essential part of these ceremonies, which made them very attractive to Venetians and visitors. The chapter identifies and discusses the rare surviving examples of large-scale music for these ceremonies, and also the fairly extensive eighteenth-century repertory, perhaps unique to Venice, of settings of the versetti, the dialogues between novice and celebrant, which may have been performed by the young nun herself, composed by well-known composers such as Galuppi, Furlanetto, and Grazioli. Although none of her music for such occasions is extant, there is evidence that Barbara Strozzi composed settings for at least one convent.

Abstract:
This chapter provides instructions for conducting the eighth session of meaning-centered group psychotherapy. The reader is instructed to help members to reflect on their group experience in light of the last seven sessions. Facilitators will facilitate dialogue and reflection around members’ thoughts and feeling surrounding the finality of their group experience in light of facing important transitions and facing their own mortality due to their cancer illness. They will also guide the group in exploring what it has been like to share their cancer experiences and life stories with others in the group and to witness others’ stories in return. Time should be given to share and explore members’ final ‘Legacy Projects,’ as well as meaningful experiences within the group process. Time should also be allotted for patients to offer feedback regarding their group experience and hopes for the future.
