Abstract:
This research focuses on problem identification due to faults in power transformers during operation by using dissolved gas analysis such as key gas, IEC ratio, Duval triangle techniques, and fuzzy logic approaches. Then, the condition of the power transformer is evaluated in terms of the percentage of failure index and internal fault determination. Fuzzy logic with the key gas approach was used to calculate the failure index and identify problems inside the power transformer. At the same time, the IEC three-gas ratio and Duval triangle are subsequently applied to confirm the problems in different failure types covering all possibilities inside the power transformer. After that, the fuzzy logic system was applied and validated with DGA results of 244 transformers as reference cases with satisfactory accuracy. Two transformers were evaluated and practically confirmed by the investigation results of an un-tanked power transformer. Finally, the DGA results of a total of 224 transformers were further evaluated by the fuzzy logic system. This fuzzy logic is a smart, accurate tool for automatically identifying faults occurring within transformers. Finally, the recommendation of maintenance strategy and time interval is proposed for effective planning to minimize the catastrophic damage, which could occur with the power transformer and its network.

Abstract:
In this paper, the micro-phasor measurement system is developed to support phasor identification of distribution transformers for the distribution mapping management system (DMMS) of Taiwan Power Company (TPC). The one pulse per second signal (1PPS) from the global positioning system (GPS) is used to synchronize the voltage sampling between reference and measurement sides. By receiving 1PPS from GPS, the phasor measurement of three-phase voltage at the reference site of the substation is stored in the master station with a time-stamp. This paper proposes a timing synchronous module with an embedded temperature compensated crystal oscillator (TCXO) to generate highly accurate timing for field measurement of underground distribution facilities. Mobile communication network is used to compare measurement results between reference and field sides of voltage angle that define distribution transformer phasor. This paper also designs and develops an application for mobile devices by importing DMMS database, which is used to search the attributes of the distribution transformers for measurement at the field. After the transformer phasor is identified, the results are stored in the mobile device to update the attributes of distribution transformers in DMMS.

Abstract:
On-chip transformers are considered to be the primary components in many RF wireless applications. This paper provides an in-depth review of on-chip transformers, starting with a presentation on the various equivalent circuit models to represent transformer behavior and characterize their performance. Next, a comparative study on the different design and layout strategies is provided, and the fabrication techniques for on-chip implementation of transformers are discussed. The critical performance parameters to characterize on-chip transformers, such as the Q-factor, coupling factor (k), resonance frequency (fSR), and others, are discussed with reference to trade-offs in silicon chip real-estate. The performance parameters and area requirements for different types of on-chip transformers are summarized in tabular form and compared. Several techniques for performance enhancement of on-chip transformers, including the different types of micromachining and integration approaches stemming from MEMS (microelectromechanical systems) technologies are also analyzed. Lastly, the different uses and applications of on-chip transformers are discussed to highlight the evolution of on-chip transformer technology over the recent years and provide directions for future work in this field.

Abstract:
The transformer is very expensive and bulky power system equipment. It runs and feed the load for 24 hours a day. Sometimes the load on the transformer unexpectedly rises above its rated capacity in that situation the load on the transformer increases and it will be overloaded and current will increase and cause overheating which in results damage the insulation of transformer. That insulation failure resulting in interruption of power supply. The common problems which transformer face is overloading voltage fluctuations and heating effect. It takes lot of time to fix the transformer so that a device need to be introduced a device which would help in automatically sharing of these over voltages. We will try to build an automated transformer sharing system in this project where the transformer current is confined to auxiliary transformer and automatically enters system. There are three transformers working as sources in this project, initially when the main switched ON the load that time load will be shared through the first transformer but when the load on first transformer suddenly increase above its reference value then immediately second transformer connected parallel with first transformer automatically through PLC by busing relay circuit.

Abstract:
In recent years, the proliferation of distributed renewable energy sources and the application of new rules for the exploitation of electrical networks imposed by the markets have dictated increasingly demanding operating conditions for electric power transformers, creating new challenges in their exploration and conservation. Transformers that, in addition to the transmission lines, are certainly the most important and critical element of any electrical energy system. Adequate models are necessary to accurately describe transformer behavior and internal response when submitted to different external requests imposed by the network, particularly during transient phenomena, as well as, to properly assess system vulnerabilities and network optimization. This effort is being carried out today by several research groups in the world, namely from Cigré and IEEE. In this work, a transformer model to be integrated into a timedomain equivalent circuit is developed and discussed. Results obtained with this model are compared with measurements obtained by the Cigré JWG A2/C4.52 in a power transformer used as a reference for the working group.

Abstract:
Abstract Traditionally, instrument transformers are calibrated using bridges. By definition, bridges use the null method of measurement. The traditional calibration programme for instrument transformer bridges characterise namely this null measurement. Many new commercial comparators for instrument transformer use a very different method. They sample the secondary signals of reference and device under test (dut) transformer independently. Based on the samples, magnitude and phase of both signals are determined. Ratio error and phase displacement are calculated. Consequently, the significance of their calibration using the traditional calibration programme is limited. Moreover, the operating range of modern comparators is much larger than that of bridges. The additional versatility cannot be used without an adapted calibration programme. This article analyses the calibration programmes for both technologies. An experimental study confirms both the suitability of the new calibration programme and the need to chose the calibration programme depending on the technology of the device to be calibrated. The conclusion is very general and applies to all measurement problems where an operating principle is replaced by another – when changing the operating principle, it is important to check the calibration programme and adapt it if necessary.

Tiež prezentujem metódu získavania dokumentov v rôznych jazykoch pomocou algoritmu BM25 a porovnávam ju s anglickým retrievalom. Holmberg, Pär. "Modelling the transient response of windings, laminated steel coresand electromagnetic power devices by means of lumped circuits : With special reference to windings with a coaxial insulation system." Doctoral thesis, Uppsala University, Department of High Voltage Research, 2000. http://urn.kb.se/resolve?urn=urn:nbn:se:uu:diva-548.

Full text
Abstract:

Electromagnetic transients impinging on electromagnetic power devices - such as electric machines, transformers and reactors - can stress the design severely. Thus the magnitudes of the transients are often decisive for the design of the devices. Further, the operation of a device can be transient in itself. This is the case for the explosive magnetic flux compression generator (EMG) and a ferromagnetic actuator.

Models are presented that are mainly intended for transients in the millisecond range and faster. Hence, eddy currents and the related skin and proximity effect become significant in windings, magnetic cores and in the armatures of the devices. These effects are important for, e.g., the damping of the transients. Further, the displacement current in the insulation of the winding is significant. It changes the response of the windings dramatically, as it manifests the finite velocity of propagation of the electromagnetic fields. Under such circumstances, reflections and excited resonances can make the transient voltage and current distribution highly irregular.

Induced voltages are modelled with self and mutual inductances or reluctances combined with winding templates. The displacement currents are modelled with capacitances or coefficients of potential. Cauer circuits and their dual form are used to model eddy currents in laminated cores and in conductors. The Cauer circuit enables one to consider hysteresis and the non-linear response of a magnetic core. It is also used to model the eddy currents in the moving armature of an EMG.

A set-up is presented that can be used to study the transient voltage and the current distribution along a coil.

The transient response of coaxially insulated windings is analysed and modelled in detail. A lumped circuit model is developed for a coil, DryformerTM - the new high-voltage transformer - and PowerformerTM, the new high-voltage generator. An alternative model, a combined lumped circuit and FEM model, is presented for a coaxially insulated winding in two slot cores.

Abstract:
In this thesis a formulation for incorporating general magnetic equivalent circuits in electromagnetic transient programs is presented. The formulation is applied to create new single-phase, and the first three-limb three-phase PSCAD-EMTDC program transformer models. The new models proposed are validated with laboratory, factory, and field data. Problems associated with magnetically independent phase representations of three-limb three-phase transformers are discussed. Considerable differences are shown in the behaviour of three-phase bank and three-limb three-phase transformers, particularly for the case of in-rush studies. The new transformer models arc applied to: the first intervalidation of the Harmonic Domain Analysis program with the widely accepted PSCAD-EMTDC program, investigating the division of magnetising current harmonics between transformer windings, and the development of a new means to reduce HVdc converter dc side harmonics; the smoothing transformer. The first set of field measurements from a group connected generator HVdc converter station are presented. A PSCAD-EMTDC model for the group connection is validated with the field data and used to investigate the transient behaviour of three-phase bank and three-limb three-phase converter transformers. Considerable differences are shown in the case of a single-phase ground fault.

Full text
Abstract:
The research aims to identify ways to enhance the supplier selection process for large transformers at Eskom. The research was based on the hypothesis that there are significant opportunities to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of transformer purchases at Eskom. Large transformers are a strategic commodity for Eskom, due to the criticality and impact of the commodity on Eskorn's business. Eskom plans to spend R2.2 billion on transformers over the next five years. This indicates a substantial financial spend on the commodity. The opportunities that could be derived from transformer purchases are not only quantitative but also qualitative. The commodity, therefore, requires strategic effort in order to maximise the opportunities. The key findings of the research were as follows: • Transformer purchases and the organisational entity is complex, as it entails numerous stakeholders, complex systems, people and processes. • Eskom has not progressed from 'procurement management' to 'supply management'. • Eskom has a decentralised approach to transformer procurement, despite the strategic nature of the commodity and the fact that it purchases across the three main Eskorn Divisions. Procurement requirements are not consolidated. • There is a lack of communication and collaboration across and within Divisions. • There are no purchasing strategies, methodologies or tools to enhance the procurement process. • Procurement Officers lack knowledge on many well known methodologies, commodity knowledge, market knowledge, and supplier knowledge. • There is no focus on supplier relationship management. • Suppliers have indicated substantial opportunities for transformer procurement at Eskom. Implementing 8 World-Class SourcingProcess at Eskom with specificreference to the SupplifJr Selection Process for Large Transformers Pagei . The key recommendations based on the findings of the research are as follows: • Supply management personnel should be trained in world-class methodologies like total cost of ownership (TeO), strategic sourcing, supplier economics, supplier analysis, market research, etc. • A centralised approach to the procurement of strategic items must be instituted. This should result in a single person being responsible and accountable for Eskom's Supply management. • A collaborative approach must be encouraged by means of cross-functional teams. • Opportunities identified in the research must be implemented by a cross-functional team whom should be responsible and accountable for the implementation of the opportunities identified. • Supplier relationships must be initiated and effectively managed by the cross-functional team leaders. • The implementation must be monitored and tracked by the project sponsor. If the above recommendations are implemented Eskom would realise significant opportunities in large transformer purchases at Eskom. Should the recommendations be implemented on other commodities Eskom would achieve quantum leap improvements to Supply Management.

Generally the on-load tap-changer transformers of Taiwan Power Company’s conventional power distribution system only detect and gather the low-voltage side single-phase voltage for reference values. Because the unbalance of distribution system will cause the different three phase voltage that will make the on-load tap-changer transformers inappropriate adjustment of the voltage. The thesis is using DSP collocated wavelet transformation filtering the noise, then calculated the positive voltage accurately as the reference voltage of three-phase voltage transformer to avoid the voltage at the end points of the consumer feeder is too high or too low. The thesis adopts Simulink release 13 to simulate a five bus distribution system. The results of simulation are the comparison between the distribution system voltages that the reference voltages of on-load tap-changer transformer is adopted the single phase voltage and the reference voltages of on-load tap-changer transformer is adopted the positive sequence voltage. According to the results of simulation, using the positive sequence voltage as the reference value of the on-load tap-changer transformer can avoid the inappropriate adjustment of the voltage that was used the single phase as the reference value and the lifetime of tap-changer increase because of the less position shift. Therefore using the positive sequence voltage as the reference value of the on-load tap-changer transformer is the better choice.

Abstract:
Memories of Tiananmen: Politics and Processes of Collective Remembering in Hong Kong, 1989-2019 analyzes how collective memory regarding the 1989 Beijing student movement and the Tiananmen crackdown was produced, contested, sustained, and transformed in Hong Kong between 1989 and 2019. Drawing on data gathered through multiple sources such as news reports, digital media content, on-site vigil surveys, population surveys, and in-depth interviews with activists, rally participants, and other stakeholders, it identifies six key processes in the dynamics of social remembering: memory formation, memory mobilization, memory institutionalization, intergenerational transfer, memory repair, and memory balkanization. The book demonstrates how a socially dominant collective memory, even one the state finds politically irritable, can be generated and maintained through constant negotiation and efforts by a wide range of actors. While Memories of Tiananmen mainly focuses on the interplay between political changes and the Tiananmen commemoration in the historical period within which the society enjoyed a significant degree of civil liberties, it also discusses how the trajectory of the collective memory may take a drastic turn as Hong Kong’s autonomy is abridged. The book promises to be a key reference for anyone interested in collective memory studies, social movement research, political communication, and China and Hong Kong studies.

This chapter describes the use of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) by Kenyan courts. The chapter analyses fourteen cases in which Kenyan courts have made reference to the CRPD and finds that there is a steady increase in the usage of CRPD provisions by Kenyan courts, particularly since the coming into force of the Constitution of Kenya in 2010 which transformed Kenya into a monist state. The most widespread use of the CRPD is to support a decision that would have been reached anyway, based on other sources; however, in a few cases, the CRPD has significantly impacted on court judgments. The vast majority of references to the CRPD in court cases were references to specific CRPD articles including Articles 2, 4, 5, 12, 26, 27, 28 and 29. Kenyan courts are not currently engaging in a transnational dialogue regarding the CRPD.
