Full textData annotation is a major problem in all machine learning tasks. In the field of NLP, this problem is multiplied by the number of existing languages. Many languages do not have any annotations, and are therefore excluded from NLP systems. One possible solution to integrate these languages into the systems is to try to leverage the languages having many annotations, and to try to learn information aboutthese resource-rich languages, and to transfer this knowledge to the low-resources languages. It is possible to rely on initiatives such as Universal Dependencies, which propose a universal annotation scheme between languages. The use of multilingual word embeddings and typological features from resources such as the WALS are solutions allowing knowledge sharing between languages. These tracks are studied in the framework of this thesis, through the prediction of parsing, morphology and parts of speech on 41 languages in total. We show that theimpact of the WALS can be positive in a multilingual setting, but that its usefulness is not systematic in a zero-shot learning setting. Other language representations can be learned from the data, and perform better than the WALS, but have the downside of not working in a zero-shot setting. We also highlight the importance of the presence of a nearby language when learning patterns, as well as the problems associated with using a character pattern for isolated languages

Full textThe purpose of this research is the comparative study of Russian and French legal terminology which tries to give a more precise definition of the types of legal discourse in both languages. This study will attempt to determine the structural and semantic specificities of the terms and collocations in both languages, the specific aspects of their functioning in different genres of discourse and the specific requirements for their translation connected to these two factors. We are dealing with the following genres of the legal discourse: normative discourse, jurisdictional discourse, doctrinal discourse and discourse of treaties. The existence of the latter as a self-standing genre constitutes the hypothesis of this thesis. The typologies of French and Russian discourse genres have similar features because of their pragmatic and communicational characteristics imposed by the law system. The differences between the typologies are due to socio-cultural and linguistic factors. The rest of the work addresses the following issues: legal term and concept in discourse, process of simplification of the formal structure of the legal term in discourse, and more specifically legal abbreviations, antonymic and synonymic relations in legal discourse and in legal collocations. This research aims at improving legal language teaching and professional practice of French-Russian legal translation
