Abstract:
Purpose This paper aims to evaluate a virtual training environment for testing UK gas pipeline emergency response plans. Design/methodology/approach Interviews, observations and desk research were used to identify current methods for testing plans. A virtual training environment was developed and evaluated with industry experts by using participatory design techniques. Key themes relating to both the current methods for testing plans and for a virtual training environment were identified using thematic analysis. Findings Improved training performance, remote participation and evidence of decision testing are benefits a virtual training environment can bring to current practice. It is suggested that a virtual training environment can enhance, rather than replace, the current process of testing emergency response plans. Research limitations/implications Analysis of the virtual training environment being used to test plans in a live context would give further ecological validity to the findings. A study of the prototype used to test plans for incidents involving sectors outside the gas industry would further validate the findings. Originality/value The application of a virtual training environment to facilitate testing plans and the decision-making processes for major incidents involving high-pressure gas pipelines and storage sites is yet to be documented. This paper contributes to the literature by documenting the decision-making process and evaluation of a virtual training environment for testing plans in this context.

This study aims to analyze and evaluate the context, input, process, and product of a substantive technical training program for preparing lesson plans for Madrasah Ibtidaiyah teachers. The study used a qualitative approach with the CIPP evaluation model (context, input, process, and product). The results showed that; first, the context dimension states that the implementation of education and training is by the legal basis for working; second, the input dimension includes the availability of reliable resources, adequate facilities, and infrastructure and financing borne by the government, so that its implementation can be carried out properly; third, the dimension of the process which includes the implementation of programs that are by the predetermined plans and designs; fourth, the product dimension where the teacher already understands the specified competencies.

Abstract:
Non-Linear Periodization for General Fitness & AthletesPeriodization of resistance training or planned changes in training volume and intensity are used to maximize strength and fitness gains. Several types of periodized resistance training plans have been developed. The most common of these plans is linear also termed classic or strength/power periodization and nonlinear periodization. The biggest difference between these two types of training plans is with nonlinear periodization changes in training volume and intensity are made more frequently. The most common type of nonlinear periodization is daily nonlinear periodization where substantial changes in training intensity and volume are made from one training session to the next training session. Periodized resistance training does result in greater strength gains than non-periodized programs. While both linear and nonlinear periodization plans result in significant strength and fitness gains some research indicates greater strength gains with daily nonlinear periodization.

Abstract:
It has long been recognized that users can have complex preferences on plans. Non-intrusive learning of such preferences by observing the plans executed by the user is an attractive idea. Unfortunately, the executed plans are often not a true representation of user preferences, as they result from the interaction between user preferences and feasibility constraints. In the travel planning scenario, a user whose true preference is to travel by a plane may well be frequently observed traveling by car because of feasibility constraints (perhaps the user is a poor graduate student). In this work, we describe a novel method for learning true user preferences obfuscated by such feasibility constraints. Our base learner induces probabilistic hierarchical task networks (pHTNs) from sets of training plans. Our approach is to rescale the input so that it represents the user's preference distribution on plans rather than the observed distribution on plans.

Abstract:
Major catastrophes appear to be inevitable given the current demographic transition, the growth of mega-cities in disaster hotspots, the predicted effects of global climate change, and the crucial relationship between natural disasters and complex political emergencies. Disaster prevention, preparedness and contingency planning will be effective only if trained personnel are available to develop these plans and implement them in a timely manner. Workforce migration, driven by poverty, insecurity and lack of opportunity, creates a leadership and skills vacuum that further increases the vulnerability of those who remain. Sustainable solutions to the problems of disasters and development will only be achieved when poor people have local access to Fair Training.

Abstract:
For K-12 teachers to improve effective teaching skills, cognitive presence (CP) integration into teaching and learning process is of utmost value. CP strategy training can serve as a facilitating component in supporting K-12 teachers’ instructional capacity. This study presents findings of a teacher professional development training aiming CP strategy implementation at K-12 level. Following a mixed-method methodology, the present research was carried out with 53 teachers from four different campuses and grade levels, who were guided to implement CP strategies in their teaching context. The data sources were CP-integrated lesson plans, trainers’ feedback on these lesson plans, teacher responses on a questionnaire. The data collection methods were utilizing an end-of-the-training questionnaire directed to teachers, lesson plan evaluation through a CP rubric, content analysis of trainer feedback on lesson plans and revised lesson plans. Results unveiled that this professional development training designed and implemented for K-12 teachers led to significantly positive changes in teachers’ CP strategy integration into lesson plans regardless of levels, subjects or topics. This study could also provide important contributions to designing teacher professional development training for researchers, practitioners and teacher trainers, particularly in CP dimension.

Abstract:
<p>Indonesia is intensively innovating in the world of education. Freedom to learn has become an innovation that has been hotly discussed since 2019. One of the updated policies in the independence of learning is the teacher's lesson plan. Through independent learning the lesson plans which previously consisted of hundreds of pages were made slimmer, namely one sheet. This curriculum is very effective and efficient, Some elementary schools in the Baso Agam sub-district are not ready to implement this curriculum and most teachers do not understand the form of one-sheet lesson plans applied explicitly to elementary schools. The purpose of this activity is to optimize the strengthening of teacher pedagogic competencies in implementing the independent learning curriculum at the Baso PAI KKG. The action was carried out using the training method. This training activity positively impacts Baso PAI KKG teachers, teachers are more ready to implement the free learning curriculum and teachers' academic competence in the lesson plands for free learning is more optimal. Because 28.6% chose very well, 55.4% chose a good level of understanding of the training on preparing 1 sheet lesson plans, and 58.9% said they were able to, and 26.8% said they were very able to explain it back to other teachers.</p>

Abstract:
With a growing population of culturally and academically diverse student populations in K -12 education, Universal Design for Learning (UDL) has the potential to improve the quality of teaching and learning for all students. However, there is a lack of research on UDL teacher in-service training to determine whether teachers are more effective at implementing UDL once they receive adequate training. The purpose of this quantitative study was to examine changes in teachers' lesson plans following UDL professional training. Seventeen teachers from 5 school districts in the state of Mississippi participated in the study. Teachers' lesson plans were evaluated at 3 time points using a valid UDL lesson plan rubric from a previous study. Data were collected before the intervention, immediately after the intervention, and 2 months after the intervention was administered. A within-subjects MANOVA with repeated measurement was conducted comparing pretreatment and post-treatment scores for each of the 4 dependent variables (total score and representation, expression, and engagement scores) to examine the changes in lesson planning following UDL professional training. The results showed a significant difference in teachers' lesson plans between conditions for each of the 4 dependent variables. The social change objective for this study was to improve the quality of teaching and learning in mixed-ability classrooms.

Porter, Laurel M. "Assessing Teacher Preference for Training Modalities for Behavior Intervention Plans." Scholar Commons, 2019. https://scholarcommons.usf.edu/etd/7890.

Full text
Abstract:
Within public schools, teachers and instructors may require training to implement procedures listed in a behavior intervention plan (BIP) to support students with disabilities. It is crucial that teachers receive training that is both effective and efficient. Behavioral skills training (BST) and video modeling are two training modalities that are proven to be effective for a wide range of skills and learners. Written instructions, although they are not supported as an effective training method in the literature, can be used as task analysis for the steps that are needed to be performed for a procedure. At present, there is no standard for training teachers to implement BIP procedures and potentially effective training methods may be impacted by the amount of time training or the intensity of the training procedure. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to assess teacher preference for training modalities and to assess the feasibility of each modality in terms of training time and intensity. The participants in this study overwhelmingly selected self-assessments for both pre- and post-assessment evaluations as well as written instructions for their training modality.

The economic value of tourism makes it an attractive sector for commerce. Ethiopia has experienced rapid changes during the last decade and can be regarded the leading economic stimulator of the Horn of Africa. The challenge is therefore not only to develop tourism in a sustainable way so that a growing population can be fed, but simultaneously to create better livelihoods for millions of people. The primary objective is to develop an overall education, training and multi-disciplinary research plan for Ethiopian universities with an integrated gender perspective in the field of (eco) tourism, taking into account the professional and/or educational needs of the labour market and the demand-driven research needs of relevant external stakeholders in Ethiopia. Specific plans for universities with regard to training courses, study programmes and demand-driven research programmes will be developed, while explicitly avoiding overlap and overprovision of the afore-mentioned courses and programmes at national level.

Evans, Gwynnen Stokes. "Programs on Paper: An Examination of Virginia's Service Delivery Area Job Training Partnership Act Title II-A Job Training Plans." Thesis, Virginia Tech, 1997. http://hdl.handle.net/10919/36528.

Abstract:
A key purpose of federal job training policy is to ensure that the workforce has the skills necessary to obtain and retain gainful employment. The purpose of this study was to describe and compare key elements of Virginia’s fourteen service delivery area (SDA) plans in order to determine how they would deliver programs to achieve the stated purpose of JTPA Title II-A, which targets disadvantaged adults. In addition, the plans were evaluated as to their potential to guide successful program implementation. The plans were reviewed to describe and analyze who is trained, how they are trained, and what objectives the plans establish. The plans were ranked as to their fulfillment of eight criteria drawn from JTPA studies on successful program strategies and from education program planning literature. Though the plans provided basic descriptions of SDA efforts to train disadvantaged adults, they did not reflect full use of successful strategies or education program planning techniques, especially in the areas of linking training to the local labor market and using overall evaluation. The SDAs did not use the plans to distinguish their local level activities, opting most often to meet minimal compliance with plan guidelines as to the information provided. The individual being trained is underrepresented in most of the plans. A few plans did meet many of the criteria and demonstrated how these strategies and planning tools can be reflected at this early stage of program implementation. The plan preparation guidelines themselves were found to be a factor in the limitations of the plans. Changes in policy requiring plans to better detail their programs could enhance their effectiveness as planning tools.

Abstract:
Training represents a unique opportunity to engage employees and mold their behavior to that desired by the organization and required by regulation. It is also an opportunity to reduce human factor causes of accidents through the proper application of training best practices. Underscoring the importance of comprehensive training programs, in 49 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Part 243, the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) has established training requirements for safety-sensitive railroad employees. These include the requirement that railroads and railroad contractors submit to the Federal Railroad Administration a training program for review and approval. In addition to meeting regulatory requirements, comprehensive training programs can usher in broad safety improvements, reduce delays, as well as improve operational and organizational efficiency. Related to employee safety and training, this paper also discusses the importance of crew resource and fatigue management plans.

Abstract:
Nuclear accident and nuclear terrorism are of great threats to international security. The countermeasures against nuclear emergency situation should be deliberately considered before it happened. In accordance with experience from Fukushima Daiichi Accident, various kinds of complex situations must be considered at the phase of emergency preparedness. And all related schedules, including national laws and regulations, allocation of responsibility and authority, emergency plans and procedures, facilities, instruments, trainings and exercises must be examined. The appropriateness of the emergency preparedness and the emergency response capability need to be verified through emergency exercises. However, exercises are usually costly and labor-intensive. So, it is necessary to design a software system to help conduct emergency exercises simulation. A Nuclear Emergency Decision Deduction and Training Platform (NEDDTP) is designed in China Nuclear Security Center of Excellence, which aims at performing the simulation of nuclear emergency process and providing a training platform for emergency workers. 3D models, the environment of nuclear power plant (NPP), some physical numerical models for simulating and several typical nuclear emergency scenarios for training are included in the platform. NEDDTP realizes the function of digitization of scenario, emergency simulation, resource management, command and dispatch, process record and evaluation in exercise, and it also provide VR display for emergency workers.

Abstract:
This report aims to identify a selection of programmes and projects undertaken by countries under their respective National Action Plans. It focuses on discrete, large-scale initiatives that specifically target aspects of the WPS agenda and aim to influence change outside the implementing agencies, rather than changing agencies’ own policies and practices. Common themes that appear frequently across these programmes and projects include: supporting global pools of technical capacity on WPS and on peacebuilding generally; training military, police, and other personnel from partner countries, including building women’s professional capacities as well as training personnel in WPS-related good practices; supporting WPS networks and forums to share experience and expertise; extensive use of multilateral mechanisms for channelling funding and for sharing technical capacity; extensive support to and collaboration with civil society organisations; initiatives focusing on combating violent extremism and counter-terrorism; initiatives focusing on preventing sexual exploitation and abuse in peacekeeping and humanitarian contexts; a wide range of commitments to stopping gender-based violence; and support for sexual and reproductive health initiatives. All of the countries discussed in this report also undertake considerable efforts to change policies and practices within their own agencies. In addition, all of the countries discussed in this report undertake a range of initiatives focused on individual countries; smaller donors, in particular, often focus many of their own programmes on single countries while using multilateral mechanisms to engage at the regional and global scales. However, in accordance with the terms of reference for this report, these types of activities are not discussed below. In the time available for this report, it was possible to review six countries’ activities. These countries were selected for inclusion because they had sufficient documentation readily accessible in the form of action plans, implementation plans, and progress reports; they are donor countries with significant international activities that may be considered peers to the UK; and/or they have been cited in the literature as being leaders in promoting the WPS agenda.
