Full textThe author presents conflict resolution as a problem in ministry for the 10 churches within the G. R.A.C.E. INC. organization that are scattered in various parts of the country. He created an intervention, which consists of pre and post evaluation after Leadership Building Blocks Seminar has been taught and implemented. The author recruited 20 participants from the churches. He used qualitative method to measure the pre and post interviews. He interviewed the 20 participants and searched for indicators of effective conflict resolution based on the Leadership Building Blocks Seminar criteria of Quality A, B, and C. The author discovered that after the training, the participants were more equipped to resolve conflict peacefully.
McGeever, Mark. "Effective Equipping of Sent Network Church Planters and Leaders Using Blended Learning with Active Training." Thesis, Lancaster Bible College, 2018. http://pqdtopen.proquest.com/#viewpdf?dispub=10979336.
Full textLiterature has argued that starting new churches is biblical and strategic, requiring the effective equipping of church planters and leaders through adult learning methods (Acts 13:1–4 and 14:20–23; Keller, 2003, p. 1; Reimer, 2016, p. 74). The sobering reality is that about one-third of church plants do not survive (Stetzer & Bird, 2007, p. 5). In partnering with churches and leaders to plant more churches, SENT Network (SENT) has identified a need to provide more effective and timely training, so its church leaders improve the skills required to start and lead thriving churches. With the unique challenge of being geographically dispersed, leaders in SENT need blended learning with active training during the face-to-face component, according to existing literature (Mark 3:13–19; Luke 5:1–11; Acts 2:14, 41–47; Hyun, Ediger, & Lee, 2017; Lee, 2010; Silberman, 2006). For this research, nine leaders from eight local churches were divided into two six-week cohorts to learn to lead others to center on Jesus and the gospel through blended learning with active training. The hypotheses were that blended learning is a viable method for SENT to use and that active training during the face-to-face component results in improved skills in church leaders. Data were collected through these instruments: Artifacts Submission Tracking, Online Engagement Survey (OSE), Training Evaluation Survey, Observation Checklist, and the Community of Inquiry Survey (CoI). After the data were collected, disaggregated, and analyzed, the hypothesis was confirmed that blended learning with active training is an effective strategy to equip church planters and leaders within SENT. The implication for SENT includes offering additional training topics, which also has implications for other organizations seeking to advance God’s kingdom through starting new churches.

Full textThe author presents the problem of a lack of emotional and spiritual well-being in pastors and Christian leaders who minister in the Metropolitan District and The Christian and Missionary Alliance. In this study, he evaluated the intervention: Leader Life (SDI) Training, first recruiting 100 participants who completed the training, then using the Leader Life Evaluation Survey to measure whether Leader Life increased the self-understanding, strengthened the soul identity, and improved the relational management of participants. He interviewed nine participants and searched for indicators of emotional and spiritual development. The author discovered Leader Life (SDI) Training is an effective tool to develop Christian leaders, and offered ministry recommendations.

Full textA common plea in missions is the need to train pastors and church leaders for the rapidly multiplying churches in the Majority World, resulting in numerous formal and nonformal theological education training programs. In spite of these efforts, many rural churches remain without pastors.
Using appreciative inquiry and participatory action-reflection research methods, together with 49 participants consisting of church elders and representatives of women, youth, illiterate members, and church ministers from 6 churches in the Northwest Region of the Ethiopian Kale Heywet Church, this study examines the factors limiting rural churches from having their desired pastor, describes the ideal minister desired by rural churches, and initiates a training program to train the type of pastors the stakeholders desire.
The study reveals that rural churches struggle to have pastors because their most desired individuals migrate to urban centers, high numbers of non-wage-earning youth as members limit the economic capabilities of rural churches, and inflexible theological education programs do not take into account or seek to address economic constraints, community education standards, or the size of rural churches.
The study reveals that rural churches situated in communities that place a high value upon Western-styled education and high levels of certification desire an educated pastor trained through formal theological education using literate communication techniques. This emphasis upon certification frequently results in rural churches selecting individuals to become pastors who do not embody the rural churches' ideal personality or spirituality character traits, commitment to ministry, or age. After receiving theological training, these educated young ministers frequently seek salaries considered inappropriate or not available in rural communities, resulting in their migration out of the rural community to seek higher wages or better educational opportunities, leaving rural churches without trained pastors.
To fulfill their desire for pastors who embody the characteristics honored in rural communities and who will remain in the rural communities, rural churches must train bivocational semiliterate pastors using nonformal theological education training approaches that combine oral and literate communication techniques.
