The present study focuses on the promotion of intangible cultural heritage and the prospect of resulting economic and touristic development generated in Sardinia, based on the example of traditional games. In various parts of the world, its current transformation in local development resources and / or instrumentalisation in favour of identity fall under a general trend of heritagisation, accelerated by the UNESCO Convention in 2003.The study of games played in Sardinia analyses the games themselves but even more so the multiplicity of the players and projects, dynamics that involve them and motives that support them: enjoyment, consolidation of identity, development. Games are thus detectors of origin, of land disputes, indicators of undergoing social and cultural change. The thesis examines the positioning of a peripheral region heavily affected by the economic crisis through its cultural heritage, in a resolutely glocal perspective

The objective of this thesis is to start from the observation of the sega dance to study the stakes of the memory and artistic appropriations of the colonial past in the Mauritian post-slavery society. The entry through dance was then heuristic to apprehend the popular culture of sega as a process. At different times in its history the requalification of the sega allowed to register this object in a culture sometimes considered as black, African, creole, multicultural, to attribute to it roots, and to direct the debates on the circulations and connections that surround this object, or to legitimize certain borrowings while accusing cultural appropriations. Absent from the global music or leisure market, it is in the form of the choreographic show that the sega circulates as a national standard, mainly on the tourist markets. The recent inscription of the traditional sega on the representative list of the ICH at UNESCO is part of these hegemonic forms of spectacularization and commercialization. The innovative nature of this research work was to examine the place of dancers – and especially women – which crystallizes the ambivalent reputation of sega, both denigrated and admired, and to show the challenges of requalification that focus on the spectacularization of this popular culture, revealing different power relations
Delfino, Max. "Le tourisme en Méditerranée : situations et perspectives." Aix-Marseille 3, 1994. http://www.theses.fr/1994AIX32045.
The purpose of this thesis is on the one hand to provide something to lean on so that the whole incidence of tourist activity upon the mediterranean space may be better estimated, and on the other hand to draw attention to the new part which can be played by the tourist industry as regards a policy preserving the physical environment and the blooming of man with a joint and soustainable development in mind. The fisrt part points out what the present situation of the general environment in the mediterranean area is. This general environment which is considered from three points of view i. E. Physical, demographic, socioeconomic draw attention to the differences between the northern side and the southern side of the area. The second part specifies the factors of the demand and measures the tourist activity in mediterranean countries. The third part makes an inventory of the incidences of tourism upon the economy, the physical and sociocultural environments of the accomodating countries in the mediterranean. The fourth part together with a prospective study suggests two necessary methods to a better approach to tourism and its various effects as well as a new idea of tourism
Bouteloup, Eric. "Tourisme, patrimoine et disneylisation de la Chine contemporaine : le cas de Lijiang." Thesis, Lyon 3, 2011. http://www.theses.fr/2011LYO30009.
Since the 1970s, the expansion of tourism in China has been exponential. While previously a marginal activity, tourism now has an important role in today’s Chinese society. The purpose of this thesis is to try to understand the complex interactions between tourism, national heritage, and cultural identities through the example of the Lijiang village, county town of the Naxi autonomous region, in the Yunnan Province. Lijiang is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and has become, in a matter of a few years, one of the main destinations of inner Chinese tourism. In this thesis, we will also try to address the following question: does the use of national heritage by the touristic industry contribute to the « Disneylandisation » of China or to the emergence of an alternative Chinese modernity?
Khelifi, Lilia. "Surf et surfeurs des Suds ou dans les Suds ? Enquête multi-située à Madagascar et au Maroc sur les circulations et les espaces d’une pratique culturelle et sportive." Electronic Thesis or Diss., Sorbonne université, 2023. http://www.theses.fr/2023SORUL108.
The aim of this doctoral research is to analyse the issues raised by the emergence of surfing in Madagascar (Tananarive, Mahambo, Ambatomalama, Fort-Dauphin and Tulear) and Morocco (Rabat, Safi and Imsouane), based on a field study in several localities. The circulation of cultural models, in particular the transformation of a localised cultural physical practice into a globalised sport during the second half of the 20th century, reinforces the imaginaries and representations of the surf and the surfer both by the practitioners themselves and by non-practitioners. Since the beginning of the 2000s, the relationship with the coastline, and more precisely with the beach and the ocean, has changed through surfing in the above-mentioned localities, as this space of uncontrollable immensity exerts a repulsive and fearful effect on most Malagasy people, whether they live near the coast or not. In Morocco, however, public policies promote the development of coastal sports tourism. Various formal and informal organisational arrangements are established by surfers in order to transform their areas into a new outlet for (sport) tourism. The crossing of levels (from the body level to the global level), the issues raised in the fields of cultural geography and social geography, the implementation of a qualitative survey lasting several months in Madagascar and Morocco, as well as the lack of scientific literature on the Malagasy and the Moroccan coastal life, contribute to the originality of this research subject

Parallel to the traditionnal seaside or relaxation tourism, more active and enriching holidays practised since many years by a minority, constitue nowadays the ideologic and cultural model which a large number of holidaymakers aspire to and on which many touristic products are created. This research tries to analyse the special interest markets (including cultural and educative, sporting, health, religious, diverse tourism) in france (the two first parts) and in the bouches-du-rhone (the two last parts), pilot department. From a diagnosis of the special interest markets established in accordance with the production and marketting network, elements for a departmental development policy are proposed

Mao, Pascal.
