This study compared job stressors between female and male Tour Leaders (TLs) operating in South America, mainly Peru and Bolivia. In 2017, 82 TLs were surveyed about their level of stress on 30 items representing four sources of job stress: job roles, nature of the job, tourists’ attitudes and behaviors, and external factors. Statistical tests determined that female TLs perceive higher levels of stress from sexual harassment, natural disasters, facilitating the tourists-locals interaction, having limited free time during trips and constant packing/unpacking. Male TLs reported higher levels of stress when tourists supersede their authority. These results indicate the need to amend policy and managerial guidelines to increase gender equity in the tour leading profession.

Abstract:
It is expected that tourism industry is one of the fields that can boost female employment and therefore, can help redress the balance and empower women in Iran. Equal opportunities in employment assist them for empowerment. Being a tour guide is one of these opportunities, although most jobs are created elsewhere, e.g. hotels and restaurants. But for this thesis, tour guides are important from two aspects: first, it is a challenging condition that you find out what you are capable of and second; it is not an extension of traditional domestic roles, and it is a new role for women in a male-dominated job market. This study aims to investigate how female tour guides perceive their roles in the tourism industry and the elements of these perceptions among their family, colleagues, and tourists who could serve empowering or disempowering.

A two meter rise in sea levels projected by the end of this century threatens the sovereignty of the Maldivian nation state. While flight from the Maldives to establish a new homeland elsewhere has been proposed, the culture and economy of this country is inextricably entrenched in its geophysical environment. Although the Maldives is known for super luxury resorts, the nation's government is poorly positioned to defend a population of 400,000 people spread across 1200 islands. This thesis proposes a strategy by which the international resort operator, an autonomous and independently funded entity, can be mobilized as an agent of coastal defense. Also investigated are issues of artificial reef ecology, defensive coastal infrastructures, and prefabricated composite construction and modularity.

Abstract:
Context-awareness can be used in tour guide applications in order to provide users with information and services. The majority of tour guide applications are usually developed for educational or historical review purposes. This paper presents a proof-of-concept of the unpublished audio tour guide application, “SoundTracker”, with the aim of improving it. The new “SoundTracker” prototype does not aim for educational or historical review purposes, instead it is aimed for recording, listening and sharing personal audio tour guides with friends and family. The proof-of-concept is limited by the defined research questions found in this paper. In summary, the accuracy of the read-in GPS coordinates of a user’s position is enhanced with Kalman filter, to give an enjoyable user experience. Additionally, the graphical user interface of the original prototype is improved and tested through web-surveys. As for the sharing functionality, a test application is created in order to find what necessary aspects need to be considered in the new "SoundTracker" prototype when a user wants to share a sound-walk with friends and family. The test application is tested based on responses obtained through a semi-structured interview from people in the age of 20-30 years. The obtained results indicate that, with use of Kalman filter, the location accuracy of the user is enhanced, which results in a sound-walk with less deviations compared to location accuracy of only GPS-sensor. Regarding the improved graphical user interface, users found the new "SoundTracker" prototype easier to understand, as well as to navigate through it, than the case in the original prototype. Users also find it interesting when a sharing function is implemented with the design that is discussed in this work.

Abstract:
Tourism is a booming economic sector that tends to incorporate the sustainable sites into its strategies. Sustainable development, which in the strategy to improve the quality of life for all without causing adverse environmental and socio-cultural outcome, gradually come into sight. However, the tour guide plays a key role in the tourism industry. As a person who assures the contact between supply and demand, it has an essential function for the advancement of tourism in a sustainable direction. Given the absence of research in this area, we chose to focus ours on this issue based on a case study in China. Three research objectives were then identified: Understanding Sustainable Development and the relationships with tourism; exploring the roles and responsibilities of tour guides and their involvement in promoting sustainability; examining why the tour guides actually exercise their functions in order to support the development of sustainable tourism. After the literature review and application of triangulation methods in this thesis - interviews, participant observation and questionnaire survey -, we recommend to orient the practices in the tourism industry towards a healthy and sustainable development in a hierarchical structure: (1) Ameliorate the certification, optimize the training program, strengthen the control of tourist guides; (2) Promote the functions of the Guild of tour guides; (3) Improve the working conditions of guides and reinforce the education for sustainable development in this industry

Among the world's green industries, the tourism industry is the one of the most rapidly developed and the most profitable. After cross-strait flights were allowed between Taiwan and China, the tourist numbers from the mainland rapidly increased, boosting Taiwan's economy and also boosting related local businesses. Over the past few years, more and more people get licensed to become tour guides. However, the tour prices has been going down each year. The purpose of this study is to discuss: 1. The current status of the tourism industry and tour guide grading system 2 .The tourist guides’ opinions toward the grading system 3 .The grading methods and categorization 4 .The post-grading, the job responsibilities This study uses quantitative research using data from a survey conducted among the tour guides in Taiwan. It not only looks for the guide’s background, but also their views of the current Taiwan tourism industry conditions. It also covers the methods and types of the guide, and the reasons on their agreement or disagreement of the grading system. The objective of the study is to improve the quality of the Taiwanese guides as well as enhancing the tourists’ travel experience. 420 questionnaires were sent out to Taiwanese tour guides and the response rate was 73.8% The overall statistical analysis was conducted to study the views of the tour guides toward the current conditions of the industry, the job market in Taiwan tourism, comparison of the grading system and level of support for the grading system. The results of the analysis: the guide grading system is divided into three types, junior, senior and the professional guide. The statics shows significant differences among the guides in gender, education, yearly average workload, and views toward the tourism industry. The top 5 factors that affect the Taiwanese tour guide's supports of the grading system are "maintaining enthusiasm over the long term", “different length of work experiences brings in different degrees of knowledge, abilities and skills”,” the longer the working years, the more different expertise the tour guides should have”, “the training and workshop hosted by the tourism bureau is unable to meet the professional needs”, and ”if there is a grading system, the work should be different for the guide in different grades” in the views toward the current tourism industry. The more of the above 5 factors the tour guides were agreed, the more they support the grading system. The last item in the survey is asking if the tour guides are in favor of the grading. On average, it falls at 5.03 and shows that a majority of guides are in favor of the grading system. The research recommends: Establishing a fair and impartial grading system of evaluation by the related organizations, establishing a tourism inspection system in the major tourist destinations, and setting up the Tourism Human Resources Association to manage the grading system.

During the past one year, there are several serious travel disputes, the so called “bulling of tour guide”, leading to tourists dissatisfaction and complaints as well as damaging the destination images. Tour guide, as a first line of tourism service industry, should be paid more attention on his/her professional ethics and behaviors. According to Techniques of Neutralization, the research aims to understand how tour guide rationalizes his/her deviant behavior enabling drifts between legal and illegal. Moreover, exploring and analyzing the process of neutralization would make it possible to confirm the relationships among ethical emotions, cognitions and behavioral intentions. This research discovers Techniques of Neutralization used by the tour guide mainly thanks to video transcripts of tour guides abusing tourists. Through case study approach, a qualitative research design is adopted to gather typical and representative information related to bulling incidents of tour guides. Data are analyzed in Template Analysis Style by identifying techniques according to Neutralization Theory. The information collected makes it easier for researchers interesting in issues of professional ethics and deviant behaviors to have better understandings how neutralization works. In addition, it gives government officials in the tourism-related sector some advices to deal with and avoid deviant behaviors of tour guides by emphasizing that there is no excuse for service code of conduct non-compliance. The value of this research lies in its analysis and results. The research focuses on the professional ethics and discovers two new techniques in the case. These help us realizing the role-conflict results in ethic dilemma and furthermore the deviant behaviors.

In 2008, the Republic of China signed the Travel Agreement for Mainland Residents Traveling to Taiwan with China, opening tourism to the people of Mainland China to travel directly to Taiwan. As of now, eight years have passed and there has been a recorded total number of 15,762,203 people having visited Taiwan as at the end of 2015. As a response to Mainland tourists traveling to Taiwan, the number of Mandarin-speaking tour guides has increased from 4,951 since 2008 to 59,768 as of now. The training department engaged by the Tourism Bureau of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications of the ROC has carried out relevant training courses for mandarin-speaking tour guides, which offers two weeks of professional pre-employment training for a total of 98 hours to teach basic knowledge relating to tour guiding. After receiving certification upon qualifying an oral examination at the end of the course, professional practice may then be conducted. However, it has been found after actual practice that other than introducing travel destinations, other various knowledge and skills are also required to successfully lead a tour group. Therefore, the problem in the lack of training is evident as a result of such competency gap between pre-employment training and beginning actual practice. This study adopts a qualitative approach to interview a total of ten subjects, including the heads of travel agencies in the industry still receiving Chinese tour groups as well as experienced tour guides engaged in the business online. This study attempts to understand the competency gap between pre-employment training offered by the Tourism Bureau and practical demands for tour guides, and solutions are also proposed as reference for relevant units. This study has found that tour guides require other relevant skills in addition to receiving pre-employment training courses on the basic introduction to travel destinations and the culture and customs in Taiwan: 1.Including outdoor training courses in addition to indoor lectures mainly to simulate actual practice. Trainees can also conduct study groups to interact and learn from each other. 2.Inviting practicing tour guides or tour guides engaged in the business online to give lectures, allowing for the students to gain practical experience. 3.Sales involved in tour guiding is inevitable, appropriate inclusion of training courses to sales in tour guiding may create four-win situations (customer satisfaction, tour guide earning, company profit, increase in national tourism output value). 4.Tour guiding is a business of providing service to people, problems will arise as long as there is human interaction, therefore, improving the tour guides’ EQ and for them to learn to deal with different unexpected events will facilitate completing the whole itinerary successfully. 5.In order to provide comprehensive services to tourists visiting Taiwan and improving tourist satisfaction levels, tour guides should build and cultivate professional skills with a healthy attitude, seek the right experienced mentor to act as guidance, as well as learning and progressing at all times.

In this thesis, the proposed system based on image retrieval and camera calibration is used to provide the indoor painting exhibition guide and tour tracking. The system consists of two parts. The first part aims at user’s searching for images of paintings. Users can get the information about paintings of interest by simply inputting a picture of them. The system provides the inquiry service about the input query image. Once the query image identity is verified and the camera pose is estimated, the system returns the pertinent information of the query painting image. The second part is about constructing the location of the exhibited painting through the pose estimation and the recoding of the tour path. This service not only can be an indoor positioning system but also provides useful suggestions for viewing the missing painting exhibition. The proposed system provides a brand new experience in visiting galleries and museums.

Abstract:
Portugal has had a flourishing tourism sector for the past few years. In fact, Portugal’s tourism boom has made the industry one of the biggest contributors to the national economy and the largest employer. In the year 2019, Portugal had a total of 27 million tourists, surpassing once again the record established in the previous year. However, tourism also brings a series of unintended negative side effects, such as overcrowding. The Santa Maria Maior historic district in Lisbon is being particularly affected by this problem. The work undertaken in this dissertation is part of the Sustainable Tourism Crowding project, that aims to mitigate the overcrowding phenomenon in this district, by fostering a balanced distribution of visitors while promoting the visitation of sustainable points of interest. This dissertation focuses on developing a mobile app prototype targeted at tourists, through which these sustainable walking tour recommendations can be delivered. To validate the functional requirements of the prototype, more specifically the trip creation process, a series of unit tests, integration tests, and manual tests were developed. To evaluate the usability of the prototype, a user-centered approach was adopted during the design stage, in which two usability techniques were conducted with members of ISCTE’s research center ISTAR and partners from the Junta de Freguesia de Santa Maria Maior, that guided and validated the decisions made. The achieved prototype contains mechanisms for measuring tourists’ adherence to the recommended tours using the Dynamic Time Warping algorithm, which raises new research opportunities on tourists’ behaviour.

Nowadays, people usually have more free time to leave their permanent living places for travelling around leading to the development of tourism. Considered as a smokeless industry, tourism has received the extraordinary attraction of numerous countries in the world for sustainable development. In the tourism industry, tour guides play a vital role in developing the tour activities. Therefore, guiding tours is a special career with a high demand in the quality of tour guides in order to not only complete the assigned tasks and train their professional skills but also eliminate the negative phenomena arose during the trips. Due to the great potential contributions of the tourism to the national economic growth, Vietnam has been paying a huge effort and investment to develop the tourism industry; as a result, the labor demand in the industry has recently been soared up. This is both a good opportunity and a big challenge to those who are interested in tourism as well as trying to experience a lovely ordeal in the newly formed industry in Vietnam. However, recently, the fact that more and more Vietnamese people lacking of fundamental knowledge, skills, capabilities, etc., are working as tour guides has totally defeated the national great attempt in creating attractive tourism products. Therefore, in this thesis, basic qualities of a good tour guide is necessarily addressed in order to offer certain contribution in the recruitment, training, fostering and developing well-qualified tour guides in terms of career quality, conducts and manners in the process of building a good image, popularizing the country and Vietnamese people to the world as well as unceasingly developing the “smokeless industry” in Vietnam. By using the survey questionnaire method, seven important qualities are found, including intellectual qualities, ability to communicate, personality qualities, political quality, professional ethics, professional reputation, qualities capacity and quality will. Abstract:
This study examines the phenomenon of wilderness tour guiding in order to identify how natural tourism guides recognize, understand, and utilize the opportunity to deliver interpretation to clients. The study utilized personal interviews, participant field observations, and an industry survey. Interviews explored the perspectives of four veteran sea kayak guides, one raft and one mountain guide. Following the interviews a survey was administered to a British Columba based sea kayak guiding professional body. Lastly, the results from both the interviews and survey were further explored through participant field observations of sea kayak guides leading commercial tours. Results demonstrate that sea kayak guides believe themselves to be facilitating opportunities for environmental and cultural learning and behavioral change within their clients; however, the field observations did not completely support the survey results, highlighting a difference between what sea kayak guides self reported compared to actual guides in the field.

The Hamasen community in Kaohsiung was the political and economic center, as well as the origin of Takao’s urban modernization during Japanese rule of Taiwan. The community has rich value and characteristics in culture and history. In order to deepen the root of Hamasen’s culture and history, and also cultivate more tour guides for promoting local culture, “Takao Renaissance Association”, the local cultural and historical organization, started a training course to cultivate tour guides dedicated to Hamasen’s culture and history in 2013. After the completion of the training courses, however, there were not too many trainees who chose to stay in the community and serve as tour guides. Therefore, I cooperated with the association by using an action research approach, and aimed to intervene in the planning and implementation of the training course during the second training course in 2015, and evaluate the result. The “action” phase of this study included the course design, preparation and implementation; the “research” stage was mainly done through in-depth interviews with the 25 trainees, and the “effectiveness” of the course was evaluated accordingly. Trainees’ suggestions were then collected and compiled, and discussed among the organizers of the course and I. Possible directions and corrections of future training courses were discussed. Up until now, one year after the training course, no trainee has passed the evaluation to become a certified cultural tour guide yet. But the course has made some impacts: for example, many trainees bring their family and friends to visit Hamasen again; willing and active trainees later participate in book clubs, dinners, and advanced training. In addition, the current networks and cohesion among trainees, as well as participation in community activities, are stronger, compared to trainees in the course of 2013. These findings suggest that perhaps in terms of the orientation of the training courses, we should not only focus on the number of trainees who eventually become certified tour guides, but also consider positive values and potential impacts of other works on community work, local culture and history. As for how to increase the number of certified cultural and historical tour guides, several suggestions can be made. First, in order to build trainees’ recognition and identity to the role they are assuming, the role of “volunteer service” should be emphasized on the recruitment advertisement. Second, advanced courses should be offered to help the trainees pass the certification and promoted to tour guides. Third, the association should actively encourage trainees to build networks and communicate with and motivate one another, so that trainees could be more active in promoting local culture and history.

The applications of GPS satellite navigation in recent years have been more and more popular. It has already been the indispensable important technology used in the fields of national defense, geographical information and architecture work etc... Although most GPS satellite navigation systems can be applied to the automobile, but general road maps information only open to public in some common road information, private area and specific road of district have no road map information. In order to enable the access to specific area with electronic road maps through convenient way, we have developed a guiding software applied to PDA with the satellite navigation. We also use RFID tags embedded in destination place, and the mobile terminal with RFID interrogator will receive the location identifiers from RFID tags embedded into the concrete blocks of destination building or sight spot. When user select a favorite tour course, the mobile terminal guides the user to the place by using pedestrian navigation systems, then the system trigger by RFID tag shows the multimedia introductions and relevant informations of the place on the screen. This API electronic map information system can be applied to navigate in the school campus or scenic spot tour guidance services.

This thesis is mainly intended to develop an indoor positioning calculation system for intelligent tour guide robots. A VILS module produced by SMIMS is applied for processing and calculation in development of an indoor positioning system. Ultra-wide band (UWB) is the principal technology, VILS module contains DWM1000 wafer produced by DecaWave adopted due to its strong anti-interference performance, high positioning accuracy, low cost, safety and low energy consumption. Time difference of arrival (TDOA), Chan and Taylor are adopted in calculation to increase positioning accuracy. The system is mainly composed of one tag, three sensors and a central processing unit (CPU). Each sensor is connected to the CPU and fixated at known coordinates. The tag sends positioning signals to the sensors and each sensor transmits the signals to be calculated by the CPU to establish the tag location. The average error of this positioning system is 25-50cm. This indoor positioning system can be operated in diverse approaches and is also highly transplantable. It can be applied for military, commercial and public security purposes.

This thesis develops methodologies and techniques for navigation and human-robot interaction of a tour-guide robot with improved system configuration. The designed navigation system includes automatic mapping, global localization, dynamic path planning, local goal-seeking, safe obstacle-avoidance, behavior fusion, and autonomous robot control. The RFID module for global pose initialization is presented based on the RSSI measurements, the proposed calibration method and least square method. With the gross initial robot pose, accurate robot localization and automatic mapping are achieved by fusing the RFID data and laser scanning measurements utilizing an extended Kalman filter. The global path planning algorithm is generated by dynamic programming method. The Petri-net model is employed to construct the event-driven logic control sequence from the present states of the robot and assigned tour missions, thus achieving autonomous navigation and high-level control. An operational scenario for human-robot interaction is stipulated for the robot; the scenario can be accomplished by combining teleoperation, facial expression, dual-arm swing, static exploration mode and dynamic tour-guide mode. The human-robot interaction system is designed to attract attention of visitors, and further increase funny interactions between the robot and the visitors. Several experimental results are conducted to confirm the efficacy of the proposed methods and techniques. These techniques are expected useful and effective in designing a pragmatic tour-guide robot.

In Taiwan, people are getting more aware of their time spent on holidays. In addition to outdoor activities, indoor activities such as visits to museums and galleries are getting more popular. But people usually have only a little background knowledge on exhibitions and they can hardly reach exhibit information beyond the illustration tags. Therefore most museums provide tour guide services with expositors to give further explanations and answer visitor questions. However, expositor services are for group visitors and also the tour routes are fixed. Individual visitors are usually helpless during their museum visits such that lost chances to meet the treasure hidden in each exhibits. A museum tour guide system that is used not only for individual visitors but also to facilitate collaborative activities is proposed in the thesis. Using a mobile device as personal museum expert such that people may visit exhibits freely while exposing himself or herself to a rich knowledge base at the same time. The introduction of Computer Supported Collaborative Learning brings more potential learning supplements to the guide system such that users may share their knowledge to others and teachers in an educational excursion can monitor the learning effects of students. After the implementation, we have held an experiment to see how the proposed system helps a class of students visit a dinosaur exhibition. During the experiment, a competition was held to encourage the use of proposed system. Results after the experiment show that users were found of the system and averagely over 60% users were satisfied by the supplied functions.

The Chinese visitors are majority of the Taiwanese in bound tourism resource. In Taiwanese tourism industry, the travel agencies and the visitors are still insufficient. This research will discuss the market, facilities, tour guides' satisfaction, and their acceptance of the current laws and regulations from the point of view as tour guides. By using the Delphi's method, a survey was made to 30 candidates, who were either carefully chosen or randomly sampled by professional tour guides, with at least 2 years of experience and have led 20 groups regularly per year. Study shows, the service quality is poor for Chinese tour guides while guiding their visitors in Taiwan. Therefore, we recommend our Tourism Bureau to request China officials to open the market to all agencies and to punish those who conducting low price competetion inorder to maintain our reputation. Furthermore, the official exam system for the tour guides need to be improved because there are many unqualified tour guides who are not able to meet the needs of their consumers. We suggest our Toursim Bureau to raise the exam standard so that the tour guides can have better service and standard.

The growth of service industry impacts the economic development nowadays. However, service heterogeneity is still one of the complex problems to maintain superior service quality. Existing researches attempted to discuss and solve the problem of unstable service quality caused by human beings, such as the appropriateness of job for service providers and education training of staff to standardize the process and control service quality. In addition, some literature investigated the role of customer in service delivering process and the gap between their expectation and perception. Nevertheless, a few researches emphasized on the effect of interaction between service providers and customers that may result in different level of service quality. This research proposes a new service process by utilizing self-organizing maps and collaborative filtering to form a hybrid approach (including choosing the service providers and the amounts of given tips) based on customer perception. Through the unsupervised learning network, self-organizing maps can cluster and discover the similar segments of customers. Next, we use collaborative filtering approach to predict new customer’s preference based on similar segments. The proposed approach can effectively forecast customer’s preferences among service providers and assign appropriate employee to serve. Based on customer service experience and the local culture for tips, we can calculate the appropriate amount of tips as recommendation for customers. To blend customer-oriented spirit into service process, the proposed method also can effectively improve the level of satisfaction of customers. The result shows average value of MAP (mean average value) is 81% and the maximum value of MAP is 85%, which is good for the experiment. The attributes of recommending employees can fit to customer preference more. In other words, our approach can effectively bridge the gap between customer expectation and perception. Finally, the result also reflects on the amount of suggesting tips (i.e., the more the employee can match to the preference, the more tips customer may give).

Virtual reality is a computer technology that makes users feel the immersive experience. From the early, some machine and equipment were able to stimulate sight, sound, touch, and even smell. Owing to the fast growing technology of virtual reality in recent years, there have been holographic head-mounted displays that are easy to wear. However, due to its weight, high price and hardware requirements, related products are difficult for some users to fetch and use. In response to this problem, Google announces Cardboard, a new concept of virtual reality headset that is lightweight and low-priced for the smartphone platform, providing free resources for developers. This paper is based on the concept of cardboard, using Unity3D as the development environment to build a virtual reality tour guide application for the smartphone platform. The whole research method, development process and system architecture are described in detail first. After that, there is also analysis of user study for the evaluation of the overall system operation and design.

Tourism industry is also known as no smokestack, the more the number of tourists, the longer the tourist residence time, the amount of energy in local consumption will be higher, and therefore can be driven by local economic benefits will be relatively higher, furthermore not to do factories still can be able to provide local employment opportunities to enhance the national GDP, and therefore the world tourism industry is scrambling to develop the industry, the importance of which is self-evident. This study will investigate the relationship between the tour guide and leader in group travel packages, understanding the impression management strategies among tour guide leader used complementary or is contradictory? And try to clarify what kind of the relationship between the tour guide and tour leader? Understanding the kind of relationship to tour guide and tour leader, could know what way to do their job content better. For a creation of high-value industries, the same type (tour leader and service quality) complaint cases accounted for all the complaints to the industrial quarter of the amount of compensation cases, is a very serious and urgent need to improve the situation. However, past research groups on package travel, the more the situation between the guide or leader and members, the addition is member satisfaction with the entire group travel packages, rarely study the relationship between the tour leader and tour guide of reference. This study will use depth interviews with an open question interview. Depth interview is defined by the respondent and surveying knowledge and ability required by the work, job duties, working conditions and so on ... a way to communicate face to face discussions, in order to collect a wide range of information needed. The results of this study found to either tour guides or tour leaders, for their own and each other's work content are very understanding, thereby tour guide and tour leader that clear what to do with each other should to do. Impression management policy for the selection of the first impression, as tour guides, tour belong to personnel services industry and have their whole customer view along the two in the next, and therefore found that the guide and leader of the parties of first impression in an interview impression management choices are all more peaceful and a more tactful manner, and therefore the choice of only impression management "model" and "begged" management options for the main impression, in the first impression will not giving more negative or strong approach. This study via interviews guides, tour leader will summarize the results of the analysis of the following four relations, namely cooperation patterns, confrontation, hostility patterns, one of the dominant patterns, patterns separate the two sides. Tour guide and leader in most of the situation appears to be mutually assist, or want to maintain good relations with each other. The main cause of differences there are two, one for the tour guide and leader of the interests involved, and pay and pay. Two of the tour's purpose and philosophy or not, in the case of both philosophies will result in a lack of good communication differences and conflicts.

The paper point out that the work value effects on the job satis-faction of tour guides and tour leaders. Because of the current eco-nomic depression, tour guides and tour leaders often force themselves to continue working in order to keep their jobs though they feel physically uncomfortable. This phenomenon of the presenteeism is worthy of tourism industry's attentions and discussions. In this study, the questionnaires answered by tour guides and tour leaders show the relationship between the presenteeism and the work value as well as between the presenteeism and the job satisfaction. After data analysis is done, the results of the study show that the work value and the job satisfaction have a positive relationship, and so do the work value and the presenteeism. Conversely, the job satisfaction and the presenteeism have a negative relationship. The discussions in this study are based on the results of researches, giving recommendations on future researches.

Due to the boost of the smart handheld device market, demanding for tour Apps has also been substantially increased. As the indoor positioning technology is still under development and rarely deployed, tour Apps have been majorly focusing on outdoor usage. Presently, most of indoor tour Apps can only offer fixed-location tour guide, and an ubiquitous indoor tour guide system always needs pre-installed indoor postioning equipments. This research thus developed an indoor tour guide system, which combines the dead-reckoning technology and augmented reality technology to support a new touring experience. For the dead-reckoning, this work uses a simple method to count steps and obtain stride-length. After comparing with previous three algorithms, this research proposes an improved stride-length estimation algorithm for the applications of low-cost indoor positioning systems. To develop the augmented reality touring system, we utilized an Open GL ES-based Min3d API to construct the virtual space. Then, we mapped the virtual space onto the real space, and determined the position on virtual space by user’s perception. Finally, the indoor augmented reality touring effects show on user’s handheld. According to the algorithm tests, we can find that a precision of 0.4 meters can be achieved in a 14 meters test case by using the improved stride-length estimation algorithm. Meanwhile, the touring length can be arbitrarily expanded by using adjusting cards. Finally, the proposed algorithm is applied to an indoor ubiquitous tour guide system. The results also show that the guidance effects can accurately demonstrate at pre-specific locations.

According to “relationship marketing”, “organization field” and “quality research results”, this study bring up important tour guide attributes. I also use social mediating mechanisms and psychological mediating mechanisms (“tourist’s satisfaction toward tour guide” and “tourist’s identification toward tour guide”) to strengthen “tourist’s loyalty toward travel agency”. I also refer to extant research to design my questionnaire and distribute it to Taiwanese to verify the model that I purposed. I tested structure model by means of LISREL. My research discovered that tour guide’s attribute may affect “tourist’s loyalty toward travel agency” through “tourist’s satisfaction toward tour guide” and “tourist’s identification toward tour guide”. The research discovered that the significance of tour guide is as follows:” individual consideration”, “similarity”, and “expertise”. Although customer identified and satisfied with their tour guide, they still have no repurchasing behavior such as WOM. Thus, I use “customer orientation’’ as moderator to verify the moderate effect between mediating mechanisms and dependent variable.
