Abstract:
This chapter discusses the technique and use of radionuclide angiography with planar and tomographic imaging. Planar techniques have given way to tomographic imaging in recent years. An overview of RNA is given, including technical issues such as radiopharmaceutical administration, and performance aspects including image acquisition and data interpretation. First-pass RNA (FPRNA), gated planar equilibrium RNA (ERNA) and gated tomographic equilibrium blood pool imaging (GBP-SPECT) are discussed in detail. The use of RNA in select patient populations, including coronary artery disease, valvular disease and for monitoring chemotherapy is discussed. In addition, the use of RNA for the assessment of dyssynchrony is discussed.

Abstract:
The superior hypogastric block (SHB) is an effective treatment for chronic or cancer-related pelvic pain. The CT-guided block offers the advantage of being able to visualize the target structure, soft tissue, disc, and bony structures to minimize complications. But CT has its own limitations such as being unable to visualize the needle at off angle, higher level of exposure to ionizing radiation, and longer procedure time compared to the fluoroscopy-guided procedure. Several variations to CT-guided techniques have been published. Each has its own advantages and disadvantages, but depending on the anatomical variations in spinal structure, any one of the techniques may be used. Fluoroscopy is used in the majority of superior hypogastric blocks because of the ease of use, availability, and quicker procedure times. The anterior approach to SHB using ultrasound guidance is useful technique in relieving pelvic pain in gynecological malignancies.

Abstract:
Neuroscience research has clearly demonstrated neurological correlates of psychological disorders. We believe that neuroscience, particularly neuroimaging, has great potential to increase our understanding of these disorders, leading to more effective treatments, prevention, and perhaps even cure. Nevertheless, the popular media is replete with misinformation and exaggerated claims. The present chapter is intended to give the reader the necessary knowledge to critically evaluate neuroimaging studies of psychological disorders. We provide an overview of all the major neuroimaging techniques, example studies relevant to psychological disorders (with a particular emphasis on depression), particular pitfalls and caveats associated with each technique, and the promise of each technique. We first cover the nuclear imaging techniques, single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) and positron emission tomography (PET). We then explore several magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) techniques, both structural and functional. Finally, we give an overview of the electrophysiological techniques, electroencephalography (EEG) and magnetoencephalography (MEG). Each of these techniques has particular strengths, and particular weaknesses. At this point, none of these tools are diagnostic, but each one provides a unique window into psychological disorders. When applied in a methodologically rigorous and statistically rigorous manner, neuroimaging has great promise for achieving greater understanding of psychological disorders, and relieving the great burdens they cause.
