Abstract:
Following a historical review of the tribe Typhlotricholigioidini, we define the tribe and the genera which, according to our view, are included in it. The genus Brackenphiloscia Ortiz, Garcia Debraz and Lalana, 1999 we interpret as part of this tribe. The examination of the holotype of the species Caucasonethes borutzkyi Verhoeff, 1932, the type species of the genus Caucasonethes, as well as individuals from the type series of several species attributed to the genus Amerigoniscus Vandel, 1950, allowed us to endorse the viability of the synonymy established by Vandel (1953a): Caucasonethes Verhoeff, 1932 syn. Amerigoniscus Vandel, 1950.

Abstract:
Beside 143 specialized (obligate) and other 85 non-obligate cave dwelling species of Coleoptera (also named troglobitic species), previously inventoried by us in the Romanian fauna, in this article we present a list of 156 of non-obligate cave dwelling species which occur in different associations in the Romanian caves, for the first time grouped on biospeleological provinces and zones. In the context of the new studies which showed that the “non-obligate” cave dwelling species do not occur randomly in the caves, but having a proved selectivity for caves, this study is focused on biogeographical aspects of non-specialized cave dwelling species.

Abstract:
In this paper we focus on some edaphic macroinvertebrates, Oniscidea, Diplopoda, Chilopoda and Symphyla, and their activity-density in relation with a short-term sampling protocol and a series of environmental factors. Our case study targeted the invertebrate community from Ivăneţu Massif near the Rupestral Assembly of Bozioru Mountains and tested the performance of direct sampling using tweezers, sifting leaf-litter with the Winkler sieve, extracting soil samples and using pitfall traps. In order to achieve a more realistic understanding of oniscidean and myriapod diversity patterns we recommend a combination of the abovementioned sampling methods.

Abstract:
The synonymy of Macedonethes Buturović, 1955, described as a subgenus of Alpioniscus and subsequently considered by Tabacaru as a distinct genus, with Alpioniscus Racovitza, 1908 is argued, while Macedonethes skopjensis Buturović, 1955, considered as the type species of the genus, belongs to the genus Alpioniscus, as Alpioniscus skopjensis Buturović, 1955. Moreover, the authors argue that Macedonethes Buturović, 1955 sensu Ivo Karaman, 2003 (partim) = Alpioniscus Racovitza, 1908 while Macedonethes castellonensis (CRUZ & DALENS, 1989) = Alpioniscus castellonensis (CRUZ & DALENS, 1989). The validity of the genus Karamanoniscus Tabacaru, 2021, with the type species Macedonethes stankoi Karaman, 2023, is again endorsed based on differential characters in comparison with the other genera of the Trichoniscidae. The structure of the tribe Spelaeonethini Schmölzer, 1965 is analyzed.

Abstract:
The taxa included in Subtribus Sphodrina (Tribus Sphodrini) were very rarely mentioned in articles or faunal catalogues published for the Romanian fauna, some of them being recorded in underground environments (natural or artificial cavities). Other taxa were erroneously recorded for the Romanian fauna (Laemostenus capitaus, L. janthinus coeruleus), and others were omitted to be cited for the Romanian fauna (Taphoxenus gigas) in recent faunal catalogues. The presence of other species, which must be confirmed for the Romanian fauna (Laemostenus janthinus), or recorded in new geographical regions (L. janthinus, L. euxinicus) is discussed. In this article we made a brief analysis of the Romanian Sphodrinae fauna in a zoogeographical context, trying to highlight the systematic, faunal and protection problems raised by this interesting taxonomic group.

Abstract:
Background: Tissue expanders are usually inflated with saline. We attempted to mitigate the side effects of the weight of the tissue expanders by replacing some of the saline with air. Methods: Of the 23 patients who were implanted with tissue expanders at our hospital, 7 complained of discomfort resulting from awareness of implant expansion and consciousness of implant weight, and 3 showed marked malposition. For these 10 patients, we replaced some of the saline with air to alleviate their symptoms. Results: Symptoms improved in all 10 patients without complications, and their tissue expanders were eventually replaced with permanent implants. Conclusions: No difference was observed between the 10 patients with tissue expanders inflated partially with air and the 13 for whom, only saline was used. Inflating tissue expanders with a mixture of air and saline is a good way to prevent side effects related to expander weight.

Abstract:
The phenolic compounds present in food cover a wide range of structures that have different biological properties. Highlighting its antioxidant properties and the presence mainly of spices, herbs and other foods. Some compounds present in spices can be listed for their antioxidant activity, such as: cloves have eugenol, pinene in their composition, cinnamon also has eugenol, limonene, pinene, catechins and other phenolic compounds in their composition, anise has pinene, rutin, apigenin, oregano has apigenin, quercecin, rosmarinic, caffeic, p-coumaric acids, and others. Rosemary presents the carnosic, rosmarinic, caffeic and hydroxycinnamic. The tissue inflammatory process normally starts with the presence of free radicals that are associated with the oxidative process activated by reactive oxygen species represented by peroxides, superoxide ion, presence of hydroxyl radical, singlet oxygen, among others. The highlighted phenolic compounds have in their structure one or more hydroxyls that have the property of donating a hydrogen atom to free radical structures, which can block the triggering of the oxidative process and thus inflammation.

Abstract:
Cervical mucus is a viscous fluid functioning as a cervix plug. Products of the endometrial and cervical glands can be detected in the cervical mucus. Cervical mucus is further enriched with transudate originating from the fallopian tubes and proteins originating from the ovaries, peritoneum and distant tissues. With increasing levels of ovarian estrogens, the properties of cervical mucus for possible collection and processing change appropriately. For these reasons, we chose a group of 10 patients treated in the center of assisted reproduction by controlled ovarian stimulation for in vitro fertilization. This study focuses on the proteomic characterization of cervical mucus and localizes the possible sources of the identified proteins. The most abundant proteins were extracellular proteins, mainly mucins; however, most of the identified proteins, present usually in lower quantities, were of intracellular origin. The tissue analysis revealed that proteins from female reproductive organs are also expressed in other tissues in addition to female reproductive organs, but also proteins specific to the testis, liver, placenta, retina, and cerebellum. This study confirms the suitability and high potential of cervical mucus as a source of proteomic bio markers not only for the diagnosis of the female reproductive tract. Key words: cervical mucus – proteomics – tissue expression

Abstract:
The article discusses the association between connective tissue dysplasia (CTD) and arrhythmias, particularly focusing on mitral valve prolapse as a potential risk factor for life-threatening ventricular arrhythmias and sudden cardiac death. Various studies emphasize the structural and mechanical abnormalities in the heart that contribute to arrhythmogenic phenotypes in CTD patients, such as fibrosis, mitral annular disjunction, and accessory chordae. Additionally, the text explores the role of autoantibodies, cardiac remodeling, and autoimmune processes in mediating rhythm disturbances and cardiac complications in CTD. The importance of ECG analysis, neural networks, and stress tests in detecting and monitoring arrhythmias in CTD patients is highlighted. The research underscores the significance of understanding the morphological basisand pathophysiological mechanisms of arrhythmias in CTD patients to improve therapeutic strategies and enhance patient outcomes.

Abstract:
Neurofibromatosis 1, also known as Von Recklinghausen disease, is the most common of the three neurofibromatoses. It is a multi-organ disease that is characterized by the development of cutaneous neurofibromas, plexiform neurofibromas, optic nerve gliomas, astrocytomas, Lisch nodules, and pheochromocytomas. We present a case of 66-year-old woman with NF-1. The disease presents with multiple cutaneous neurofibromas in both breasts. People living with NF-1 disease might have a different course of malignancy or other associated symptoms than the average individual without NF-1. It is essential that patients presenting with NF-1 symptoms are followed longitudinally to ensure that the progression of their symptoms are appropriately treated.
