Abstract:
This paper describes a standard cell-based new approach of comparator design for flash ADC. Conventional flash ADC comparator consumes up to 60% of the power due to resistive ladder network and analog comparators. Threshold inverter quantized (TIQ) comparators reported earlier have improved speed and provide low-power, low-voltage operation. But they need feature size variation and have non-linearity issues. Here, a new standard cell comparator is proposed which retains all advantages of TIQ comparator and provides improved linearity with reduced hardware complexity. A 4-bit ADC designed using the proposed comparator requires 206 minimum-sized transistors and provides large area saving compared to previously proposed designs. Thermometer code is partitioned using algebraic division theorem. This conversion is used for mathematical modeling and complexity reduction of decoder circuit using semi-parallel organization of comparators. Circuit is designed using 90 nm technology which exhibits satisfactory performance even in process variation.

Abstract:
This paper presents a low-area 8-bit flash ADC that consumes low power. The flash ADC includes four main blocks—an analog multiplexer (MUX), a comparator, an encoder, and an SPI (Serial Peripheral Interface) block. The MUX allows the selection between eight analog inputs. The comparator block contains a TIQ (Threshold Inverter Quantization) comparator, a control circuit, and a proposed architecture of a Double-Tail (DT) comparator. The advantage of using the DT comparator is to reduce the number of comparators by half, which helps reduce the design area. The SPI block can provide a simple way for the ADC to interface with microcontrollers. This mixed-signal circuitry is designed and simulated using 180 nm CMOS technology. The 8-bit flash ADC only employs 128 comparators. The applied input clock is 80 MHz, with the input voltage ranging from 0.6 V to 1.8 V. The comparator block outputs 127 bits of thermometer code and sends them to the encoder, which exports the seven least significant bits (LSB) of the binary code. The most significant bit (MSB) is decided by only one DT comparator. The design consumes 2.81 mW of power on average. The total area of the layout is 0.088 mm2. The figure of merit (FOM) is about 877 fJ/step. The research ends up with a fabricated chip with the design inserted into it.

Abstract:
The continuous scaling down of metal-oxide-semiconductor field effect transistors (MOSFETs) led to the considerable impact in the analog-digital mixed signal integrated circuit design for system-on-chips (SoCs) application. SoCs trends force ADCs to be integrated on the chip with other digital circuits. These trends present new challenges in ADC circuit design based on existing CMOS technology. In this paper, we have designed and analyzed a 3-bit high speed, low-voltage and low-power flash ADC at 32nm CNFET technology for SoC applications. The proposed ADC utilizes the Threshold Inverter Quantization (TIQ) technique that uses two cascaded carbon nanotube field effect transistor (CNFET) inverters as a comparator. The TIQ technique proposed has been developed for better implementation in SoC applications. The performance of the proposed ADC is studied using two different types of encoders such as ROM and Fat tree encoders. The proposed ADCs circuits are simulated using Synopsys HSPICE with standard 32nm CNFET model at 0.9 input supply voltage. The simulation results show that the proposed 3 bit TIQ technique based flash ADC with fat tree encoder operates up to 8 giga samples per second (GSPS) with 35.88µW power consumption. From the simulation results, we observed that the proposed TIQ flash ADC achieves high speed, small size, low power consumption, and low voltage operation compared to other low power CMOS technology based flash ADCs. The proposed method is sensitive to process, temperature and power supply voltage variations and their impact on the ADC performance is also investigated.

This paper presents the design of linear ramp generator and digital BIST for an on-chip ADC testing. It replaces the costly and time-consuming traditional mixed signal test methods like DSP-based testing, ATE, etc. The proposed on-chip analog ramp generator uses only a few transistors to generate linear ramp signal. A TIQ comparator based 8-bit flash ADC is taken under test. The output response of the ADC is analyzed in the digital BIST to measure the primary nonidealities affecting the linearity and accuracy of the data conversion. In testing, ADC generates the digital data sequence as a test pattern in response to the ramp input while digital BIST estimates the conversion error. This method does not require DAC and any additional components which increase the area overhead of ADC test. The complete design of ramp generator is integrated with TIQ flash ADC and verified in 0.18[Formula: see text][Formula: see text]m CMOS technology with 1.8[Formula: see text]V of the power supply and 100[Formula: see text]kHz of the input frequency. Measurement of nonidealities shows that the design of an 8-bit flash ADC has good accuracy in data conversion with the differential nonlinearity of [Formula: see text]0.24/[Formula: see text]0.17[Formula: see text]LSB and integral nonlinearity of [Formula: see text]0.44/[Formula: see text]0.04[Formula: see text]LSB.

Abstract:
Multi-valued logic using multi-state spatial wavefunction switched (SWS)-FETs offers overall reduction in size and power as compared to conventional FET based circuits. This paper presents the design of compact 3-bit Analog-to-Digital Converters (ADC) implemented with SWS-FETs. A novel multi-valued Threshold Inverter Quantization (TIQ) based voltage comparator using SWS FET transistors has been proposed. Unlike conventional FETs, SWS-FETs are comprised of two or more vertically stacked coupled quantum well or quantum dot channels, and the spatial location of carriers within these channels is used to encode the logic states (00), (01), (10) and (11). The SWS-FET logic and circuit models for complementary (n- and p-channel) using 20 nm technology are presented. The digital logic circuit in the ADC is developed using SWS-FET based quaternary logic circuits. The accuracy of the SWS-FET circuits is verified by SWS-FET models in Cadence. The simulations for the SWS FET are based on integration of the Berkeley Short-channel IGFET Model (BSIM4.6) and the Analog Behavioral Model (ABM). The ADC circuit design using SWS-FETs reduce the number of transistors by 55% compared with CMOS counterpart.

Este estudo apresenta análises e evidências sobre o uso e o impacto das Tecnologias de Informação e Comunicação (TIC) no contexto das administrações locais. O trabalho tem como base as informações geradas por uma pesquisa de campo desenvolvida com administrações locais brasileiras nos anos de 2008 e 2009. Os dados e informações são provenientes da avaliação da gestão de municípios segundo várias dimensões (estratégia, cidadão e sociedade, processos, pessoas, sistemas de informações), complementados por informações coletadas em fontes adicionais e bases de dados estatísticos municipais existentes. Assim, o estudo esboça a arena em que as administrações locais gerenciam seus ambientes e soluções de TIC, apontando relevante contribuição para as iniciativas de gestão, bem como o impacto (efetividade) gerado na perspectiva abrangente de desempenho municipal. A investigação baseia-se nas teorias e experiências sobre as TIC, sobre a qualidade gestão e o desempenho de governos locais, levantando e analisando dados detalhados de cinco municípios para verificar a associação entre os resultados (outcomes) das prefeituras e os esforços de modernização de seus recursos tecnológicos e de sua gestão. Os resultados indicam que as estratégias de TIC implantadas e suas relações com o modelo de gestão possuem associações positivas com o desempenho municipal. Além disso, como contribuição, a pesquisa propõe um modelo analítico de avaliação de TIC e um da gestão, ambos adequados a qualquer tipo de administração local e propõe ainda um construto multidimensional com a finalidade de integrar as TIC à gestão. Os modelos de avaliação (TIC e gestão) e o construto multidimensional poderão ajudar o processo de definição, mensuração, avaliação dos modelos de gestão organizacionais.

Abstract:
A Ti-35Nb-7Zr é uma liga Ti-ß desenvolvida pelo Grupo de Biomateriais da Escola de Engenharia de Lorena da Universidade de São Paulo, que demonstrou, em estudos anteriores, propriedades mecânicas favoráveis para ser usada como biomaterial, tais como, limite de resistência (~800 Mpa), resistência à corrosão e baixo módulo de elasticidade (33 GPa). Uma vez que o implante dentário traz melhores resultados no tocante à função mastigatória, fonação, conforto e estética, melhorando a qualidade de vida das pessoas, o presente estudo descreve a avaliação da biofuncionalidade dos implantes dentários da liga Ti-35Nb-7Zr comparados aos implantes comerciais de Ti-Cp da marca Titaniumfix. A biofuncionalidade foi avaliada por meio de testes in vitro e in vivo. A avaliação in vitro foi realizada com células mesenquimais indiferenciadas retiradas da medula óssea de fêmures de ratos, que foram cultivadas em meio de cultura osteogênico e posteriormente realizados os testes de citotoxicidade, quantificação de proteína total e avaliação da atividade da fosfatase alcalina. A avaliação in vivo compreendeu a realização de implantes de Ti-Cp Titaniumfix e da liga Ti-35Nb-7Zr em tíbias de coelhos para avaliação histológica, histomorfométrica por meio do cálculo da Fração da área óssea ocupada (BAFO) e aposição óssea, e de remoção ao torque com intuito de avaliar a osteointegração. Considerando os resultados obtidos nesta pesquisa, com relação aos testes in vitro, é possível concluir que a liga possui maior hidrofilicidade que o Ti-Cp; apresenta espraiamento celular similar ao Ti-Cp o que corrobora para o resultado de viabilidade celular classificando-a como não citotóxica. Nos testes de quantificação de proteína total e atividade da fosfatase alcalina a liga apresenta resultados similares ao Ti-Cp, favorecendo a ocorrência de diferenciação e proliferação das células osteoblásticas. Desta forma, pode-se concluir que a liga possui boa compatibilidade in vitro. Os resultados obtidos nas avaliações in vivo, por meio da fração de área óssea ocupada (BAFO), comprovam a semelhança entre a liga e o Ti-Cp pois tiveram o valor percentual de osso neoformado similar. A análise de fluorescência, após a administração dos marcadores tetraciclina e alizarina, mostra que a aposição óssea também foi semelhante entre a liga e o Ti-Cp nos períodos estudados. Com relação a força de interação avaliada pelo torque de remoção é possível afirmar que a liga apresenta osteointegração comparável aos implantes comerciais Ti-Cp. Esses resultados demonstraram que os implantes da liga Ti-35Nb-7Zr apresentaram biocompatibilidade e biofuncionalidade semelhantes ao dos implantes de Ti-Cp. Além de possuir um baixo módulo de elasticidade, a liga apresentou uma osteointegração bem similar ao Ti-Cp, reunindo características que demonstram seu potencial para ser usada como biomaterial intraósseo.
Ti-35Nb-7Zr is a Ti-ß alloy developed by the Biomaterials Group of the Lorena School of Engineering of the University of São Paulo, which demonstrated, in previous studies, favorable mechanical properties to be used as biomaterial, such as resistance (~800 Mpa), corrosion resistance and low modulus of elasticity (33 GPa). Since the dental implant brings better results regarding masticatory function, phonation, comfort and aesthetics, improving the quality of life of the people, the present study describes the evaluation of the biofunctionality of the Ti-35Nb-7Zr ally dental implants compared to the Titaniumfix implants of Ti-Cp. The biofunctionality was evaluated by means of in vitro and in vivo tests. The in vitro evaluation was perfomed with undifferentiated mesenchymal cells removed from the bone marrow of rat femurs, which were cultured in osteogenic culture medium and subsequently perfomed cytotoxicity tests, total protein quantification and evaluation of alkaline phosphatase activity. The in vivo evaluation included the implantation of Ti-Cp Titaniumfix and Ti-35Nb-7Zr alloy implants in rabbit tibiae for histological, histomorphometric evaluation by calculating the Bone Area Fractional Occupied (BAFO) and bone apposition, and torque removal in order to evaluate the osseointegration. Considering the results obtained in this research, related to in vitro tests, it is possible to conclude that the alloy has a higher hydrophilicity than Ti-Cp; Show cellular spreading similar to Ti-Cp, which corroborates the result of cell viability classifying it as non-cytotoxic. In the tests of total protein quantification and alkaline phosphatase activity the alloy presents results similar to Ti-Cp, favoring the occurrence of differentiation and proliferation of osteoblastic cells. In this way, it can be concluded that the alloy has good compatiblity in vitro. The results obtained in the in vivo evaluations, through the BAFO, confirm the similarity between the alloy and Ti-Cp, since they had the percentage value similar to neoformed bone. Fluorescence analysis, after administration of the tetracycline and alisarin markers, show that bone apposition was also similar between the alloy and Ti-Cp in the periods studied. Regarding the interaction force evaluated by the removal torque, it is possible to affirm that the alloy show osseointegration comparable to commercial Ti-Cp implants. These results demonstrated that Ti-35Nb-7Zr alloy implants had similar biocompatibility and biofunctionality to Ti-Cp implants. In addition to having a low modulus of elasticity, the alloy presented an osseointegration very similar to Ti-Cp, bringing together characteristics that demonstrate its potential to be used as an intraosseous biomaterial.

Le premier chapitre fait le point sur les méthodes comparatives. Le chapitre deux nous permettra de revenir sur les évolutions des matériels, sur les choix politiques successifs qui ont façonné le paysage actuel des TIC en milieu scolaire. Au chapitre trois, commence l'exploration à un niveau microscopique de quelques-unes des transformations, certes imperceptibles, mais néanmoins bien réelles, dès lors que certains modèles sont convoqués et que des mesures strictement contrôlées sont réalisées. Le quatrième chapitre est consacré à l'analyse critique des procédés de description des situations observées, et pour ce qui nous concerne de la vision technicisée des situations d'enseignement-apprentissage. Dans le chapitre cinq, nous passons alors d'une vision technicisée des situations d'enseignement-apprentissage à une vision médiatisée. Le chapitre six est l'illustration de la pertinence de cette façon de concevoir les situations d'enseignement-apprentissage. Il s'agit dès lors de mettre au jour les phénomènes de genèse instrumentale et de montrer comment les procédés pédagogiques dominants s'accommodent des instruments informatisés et, réciproquement, comment ces derniers sont détournés au profit de scénarios scolaires bien établis. In this thesis, we design a new 6-Bit flash analog to digital converter. It uses the Threshold Invert Quantization (TIQ) technology to replace traditional OPAMP comparator architecture to design a new TIQ comparator architecture, and it limits the current of the TIQ comparator when it is under transition. It could effectively reduce the overall circuit power consumption. The function and performance of the circuit was simulated by HSPICE utilizing TSMC 0.35 μm CMOS HSPICE model, and the power supply voltage is 3.3V. The 6-Bit TIQ flash analog to digital converter simulation results are as follows: DNL is +0.13 LSB to -0.07 LSB, INL is +0.15 LSB to -0.07 LSB. And the results show that when the sampling frequency is at 400 MHz, and the input frequency varies from 1 MHz to 100 MHz, the power consumption varies from 24 mW to 37 mW, while the power consumption of traditional TIQ flash-ADC are 41 mW to 644 mW. When input is a 1MHz sine wave signal, SNDR is 35.21dB and ENOB is 5.55 Bit. TIQ comparator Flash-ADC has many advantages: simple comparator circuit architecture, relatively fast, the circuit does not require resistor string, TIQ comparator does not require a clock signal or the coupling capacitor, suitable for standard CMOS technology and SOC integration

Abstract:
An internal reference comparator array consisting of complementary metal oxide semiconductor inverters replaces the Vref generator, resistor voltage divider circuit, as well as arrays of differential comparators in a standard flash ADC. The aforementioned design also promises significant improvements in chip space, power dissipation, and speed control because the inverters' threshold voltage acts as the reference voltage. Because the inverter threshold voltage is sensitive to operating temperature/process variations, perturbations in these ADC systems are challenging, necessitating a compensation mechanism. A TIQ-dependent flash ADC with inverter threshold voltage control is presented in this study.The 5-bit flash ADC is developed and evaluated in 180nm technology using TANNER EDA via modifying the TIQ comparator as well as using Power gated, as well as a multiplexer-oriented encoder using transmission gate logic as well as the lector technique. TIQ comparator as well as Multiplexer-based encoder are used in the architecture. The 2:1 multiplexer are used in this Mux-based encoder. The Multiplexer could be built in a variety of topology, including CMOS, PTL, TGL, as well as Gate Diffusion-Input. The transistor counts in CMOS technology, which is referred to as Area in electronics, is greater, resulting in increased energy usage and latency. Although there are fewer transistors in PTL as well as GDI logics than in CMOS, output stability also isn't maintained. In order to preserve output stability, buffers must be included to the PTL setup. However, the outcomes are insufficient. In order to retain output stability, GDI technologies should use the same algorithm or make certain essential tweaks. The purpose of this report is on Transmission Gate Logic, as well as the Multiplexer was designed using a lector method. Lector is a low-power technology. Inside the 2:1 multiplexing construction, this method is used with Transmission Gate Logic. The power gating method is used to create a TIQ comparator in this research. Another low-power option is power gating technique. Power gating is done in xi a variety of ways. The injection of an extra transistors at the Vdd connector (known as header switching energy gating) or the earth (GND) connections are used in power gating technology (which is named as footer switch power gating). The second transistor is positioned at the Vdd connector to minimize power dissipation when compared to the traditional technique.

Abstract:
En el presente trabajo se llevó a cabo la caracterización de tres electrolizadores tipo PEM en monocelda con distintos campos de flujo: pines cuadrados, pines circulares y circulares en zigzag. Asimismo, se determinó la cantidad de hidrógeno producido para cada diseño a diferentes potenciales, tiempos y temperaturas. A partir de estas mediciones y con la finalidad de observar la influencia de los diferentes campos de flujo, se compararon curvas de polarización y gráficos de producción de hidrógeno contra el tiempo. Asimismo, se construyó un sistema de suministro de agua con el cual se lograron almacenar y cuantificar el hidrógeno y el oxígeno producido. Los resultados demostraron que tanto el potencial como el tiempo son las variables con mayor impacto en la producción de hidrógeno; el campo de flujo con pines cuadrados generó más hidrógeno que los diseños con pines circulares y el diseño en zig-zag generó más hidrógeno que el convencional.

Abstract:
Los procesos de oxidación avanzada; en particular la fotocatálisis son tratamientos eficientes en la remoción de moléculas orgánicas como los fármacos y los disruptores endócrinos como el acetaminofén (ACET) y el nonilfenol (NPEG). Recientemente ciertas moléculas orgánicas fueron clasificados como contaminantes emergentes por los riesgos potenciales que representan para la salud humana y al medio ambiente; algunas de estas sustancias como los fármacos en especial los disruptores endocrinos, píldoras contraceptivas entre otras; pasan por procesos de tratamientos biológicos en plantas de tratamiento, sin embargo parte de sus características como la capacidad estrogénica o sus productos de descomposición secundaria persisten o suelen ser más tóxicos que la molécula original. En este trabajo se comparan las eficiencias del catalizador comercial Oxido de titanio Degussa P-25 (CAT1) y el óxido de titanio sintetizado con un precursor alcóxido (CAT2) para la remoción de ambas moléculas orgánicas (ACET y NPEG), por procesos de fotocatalísis. Para aumentar la eficiencia de los catalizadores y la capacidad de absorber energía en el rango de la luz visible ambos sólidos fueron dopados con partículas de plata con el método de foto-depositación, bajo las mismas condiciones. Los catalizadores CAT1 y CAT2 fueron caracterizados por difracción de rayos X (DRX), fisisorción de nitrógeno (BET); y por Reflactancia Difusa (RD). Se realizaron diferentes pruebas de degradación con concentraciones variables de ambas moléculas, los resultados se evaluaron mediante cromatografía de líquidos de alta resolución (HPLC) y por Espectroscopía de UV (UV-Vis); con los resultados se pudo establecer el perfil de degradación de ambas moléculas y comparar los porcentajes de conversión; estos resultados indican que ambos catalizadores son eficientes para degradar al ACET y al NPEG.

Abstract:
O estudo da oxidação anódica de um efluente simulado diuron comercial foi realizado com o ânodo Ti/(Ru0,36Ti0,64)O2 variando os seguintes parâmetros de sistema: densidade de corrente (10, 20 e 30 mA cm-²), suporte eletrolítico (NaCl - 0,15M e Na2SO4 - 0,05M), pH (3,0, 7,0 e 11,0) e a influência da luz solar. Posteriormente, foi realizada a oxidação anódica de soluções modelo de diuron padrão a fim de comparar os processos de degradação. Para tanto, analisou-se a eficiência de degradação do Carbono Orgânico Total (TOC) e o consumo de energia elétrica. A oxidação anódica do efluente simulado de diuron comercial mostrou baixa eficiência de degradação (20%) quando o eletrólito Na2SO4 - 0,05 M foi utilizado aplicando densidade de corrente de 30 mA cm-² em soluções ácidas, mas a sua substituição por NaCl - 0,15 M aumentou a eficiência de degradação para 58%. Para todos os processos, as soluções ácidas apresentaram melhores eficiências de tratamento. A sinergia com a luz solar aumentou a velocidade de degradação. Os decaimentos do diuron e do TOC tanto para o efluente de diuron comercial quanto para o de diuron padrão seguiram o comportamento de pseudo primeira ordem sendo o valor de kapp 0.102 e 0.391 min-1 para os efluentes de diuron comercial e padrão, respectivamente. Foram detectados componentes desconhecidos no produto comercial que parecem competir com o processo de degradação da molécula do diuron. Embora a degradação do efluente simulado de diuron comercial tenha apresentado mais subprodutos que a solução modelo de diuron padrão, a oxidação anódica de ambos os efluentes foram semelhantes.

Um inversor é um conversor de potência capaz de transformar sinais de corrente contínua em sinais de corrente alternada. Os inversores que operam nos sistemas de geração distribuída conectados à rede elétrica são comumente chamados de on-grid ou grid-tie. Neste trabalho são abordadas as etapas de projeto e implementação da bancada experimental de um inversor monofásico grid-tie de 900VA, utilizando o driver FNA41560 de baixo custo da Fairchild Semiconductor. A partir de ensaios práticos foi possível comparar resultados reais e simulados. Para o sincronismo com a rede elétrica foi utilizado um PLL (Phase-Locked Loop). O sistema foi controlado em malha fechada a partir de um controlador PIR (Proporcional-Integral-Ressonante), além disso, o projeto conta também com um algoritmo MPPT (Busca do Ponto de Máxima Potência) aplicado ao arranjo de painéis fotovoltaicos.

Sažetak: U ovome radu obrađena je tema CAF (common assessment framework) modela izvrsnosti u javnoj upravi. U radu je definiran pojam CAF-a, te je objašnjena njegova struktura, koja se sastoji od dva glavna dijela: omogućitelja i rezultata. Svaki od tih dijelova, odnosno skupina ima svoje kriterije i podkriterije koji su također u radu razjašnjeni. Nadalje je obrađena tema koncepta ovog modela, primjenom kojeg ovaj model spada u skupinu total quality managementa, a taj koncept se sastoji od osam načela. Postupak implementacije CAF modela u određenu organizaciju sastoji se od tri faze i ukupno 10 koraka, koji su sadržani u tim fazama, te tri faze su: početak CAF putovanja, samoocjenjivanje i plan unapređenja. Prošlo je već 20 godina od nastanka ovog modela, te je isti doživio nekoliko revizija. U radu su nabrojane sve revizije te je napravljena analiza, odnosno usporedba istih. Na kraju rada prikazana je relevantna statistika. Abstract: The subject of this paper is the CAF (common assessment framework) method, i. e. model of excellence in public administration. The paper defines the concept of CAF, and explains its structure, which consists of two main parts: enablers and results. Each of these parts has its own criteria and sub-criteria which are also clarified in this paper. Furthermore, the concept which is used by the method is elaborated, the application of this concept puts this method/tool in the group of total quality management, and this concept consists of a total of eight principles. The implementation process of the CAF method consists of three phases and a total of 10 steps which are contained of three phases: the beginning of the CAF journey, self-assessment and the improvement plan. It has been 20 years since the creation of this method/tool, and it has undergone several revisions, the paper lists all of the revisions and makes an analysis, i. e. comparation of them. At the end of the paper, relevant statistics are presented.

El proyecto “Storytelling: contar historias desde la educación” se desarrolló con el objetivo de potenciar e involucrar a estudiantes y docentes en la construcción de recursos educativos innovadores a través del uso del storytelling, y fomentar la creatividad y trabajar en distintos procesos cognitivos de los estudiantes. Se implementó con el apoyo de 7 docentes y 137 estudiantes de la carrera de Educación Básica, 55 de Comunicación y 99 de la maestría en Educación, mención en Gestión del Aprendizaje mediado por TIC, el contar con estudiantes de grado y posgrado permitió comparar resultados en relación a los estilos de aprendizaje, conocer qué grupo logró plasmar mejor las características del storytelling, etc. Los resultados apuntan a que los estudiantes no han utilizado anteriormente esta técnica en su proceso de aprendizaje; sin embargo, luego de su aplicación manifiestan que es importante porque a través de la combinación de gráficos, sonidos y música les permitió representar contenidos de las diferentes asignaturas y ello abrió la posibilidad de apropiarse del conocimiento de manera eficaz y directa.
