Full textThe purpose of this master's thesis is to investigate the principals´ conceptions of how trust-based governance and management can improve the school's operations and work environment for the school's professionals and how confidence in the school's local chain of command can be increased. The study has a hermeneutic qualitative approach where a semi-structured interviews has been used as a method. The interviews were based on an interview guide which was founded in Bringselius (2017) seven guiding principles for governance, work organization and culture aimed at increasing confidence in the organization. The seven guiding principles are trust, citizen focus, holistic view, scope, support, knowledge and openness. The result shows that the principals´ conceptions of trust-based governance and management are that there are different ways of creating trust in the school's chain of command, both upwards and downwards, which favors the school's operations and the working environment for the school's professionals. My conclusions on the basis of this study of the principals´ conceptions of trust-based governance and management is that it can have many positive effects both in terms of the school's operations and the working environment for the school's professionals. According to the principals, more confidence in the school's chain of command can provide a greater scope for the staff, which means that they can influence their work situation. The core of trust-based governance and management is collaboration and a holistic view, which according to the principals, can have a positive impact on the activities of the school, as the knowledge and competence of staff are utilized and used directly in the organization. Under such circumstances decisions are made together with employees who work in the organization, closer to the pupils, which means that the decisions usually favor the pupils.

Full textSweden has had clear problems with its governance of the welfare sector because of incentives that can be obtained from NPM. This mainly in forms of performance management that has centralized the authority with recurring reporting requirements. To overcome these problems, measures were taken to promote a new governance. At present, the form of trust-based governance has seen the light of day. This includes a governance, culture and working method with focus on the purpose of the organisation and the needs of the user. The following study was intended to provide a thorough picture of experiences regarding governance within a municipal healthcare administration, in relation to an ideal of trust-based governance. This with an intention to produce knowledge about how governance is experienced within a municipal healthcare administration and to contribute to the development of governance within it. The study was based on qualitative interviews with four first line managers, whose experiences where compared to an ideal of trust-based governance. The results show that the combined experiences of governance largely correspond to an ideal of trust-based governance. Under those terms the study indicates that there are experiences which can be deduced from an ideal of trust-based governance. Furthermore, there are incentives which can be deduced from NPM. The interviewees responses indicate that the administration is regarded as value-driven with perceptions of good leadership, which creates conditions for developing the trust-based governance within it. Finally, the study, based on the responses, has resulted in several experienced aspects for the continued development of the trust-based governance within the administration. The results should only be indications of how governance is experienced and how the form of governance can be developed. All because the responses in many sentences differ and not reflects an overall perceived image.

Full textThis paper is about governance and management in the municipality of Karlstad. The study aims to explore how New Public Management and Trust based governance and management can contribute to an understanding of the centrally communicated governance and management. The main question that is to be answered in this paper is What dominant elements of Trust based governance and management as well as New Public Management can be found in the centrally communicated governance and management of the municipality of Karlstad? The question is answered by an idea analysis. Two management trends are being used to explore the empirical material that consists of steering documents and interviews with representatives of the municipal management. The two trends that are used as theoretical base and ideal types for this study are New Public Management and Trust based governance and management. The relevance of the study lies in the fact that the Swedish government has a work in progress on changing the course of the governance throughout the public sector, from New Public Management to Trust based governance and leadership. The overall problem scenario is based on the assumption that some of the central elements of New Public Management has led to an disproportionate increase in administration, which in the end has led to a non- efficient usage of the public resources. By examining the existing governance and management in a Swedish municipality today we get a better situation image of which areas that are, more or less explicitly stated, characterized by the two trends. Thus both trends can be said to represent the old and the new as the government's ambition is to replace parts of one with the other. The result of the study shows that by looking at different areas you are able to locate the two trends in varying extent. The trends by themselves are not enough to get a clear image of the governance and management in Karlstad, yet together they form what is best described as a hybrid model.

Full textIn this document analysis, public sector employees and management policies have been analyzed in order to investigate how trust and leadership are expressed in policy through a qualitative content analysis. Based on the purpose, two research questions were raised: 1) If and if so, in what way is thrustbased leadership visible in these policies? 2) Who is the manager and who is the co-worker in these documents? To answer the purpose, 15 different policies from municipalities, regions and government agencies were analyzed. The result shows that trust is visible through the fact that the operations are based on the core operations and the co-workers skills are highlighted as important tools for reaching satisfied customers and delivering good welfare. In accordance with the policies, the co-workers are professional by being a responsible co-creator who is straightforward and clear with their coworkers and has the customer at the center. The leaders are responsive in the operations and clear in their communication, they are goal fulfillers and enablers while at the same time acting as role models for their employees and having confidence in their abilities.

Full textThe public sector has, for a long time, been a subject of review and research. Different publicmanagement reform ideas have replaced each other according to how the public administrationcan best be managed. A commonality between reform ideas is that they all have answers forprevious reform ideas' deficiencies and weaknesses. The purpose of this study was to examinehow municipalities take on different reform ideas, and how they have translated and adaptedthese reform ideas for their local requirements. The study has, in particular, investigated howHalmstad Municipality has interpreted and translated the latest governing ideal and the reformidea trust-based management and leadership. The focus has been to look at how themunicipality describes its new governing model in various internal documents. To accomplishthis, a qualitative document study was chosen; more specifically, a qualitative content analysiswith an inductive approach. The document study was conducted on Halmstad Municipality'snew governing model, which was passed in November of 2019. The study shows that thegoverning model has aspects of Public Administration, New Public Management, New PublicGovernance, and Post NPM. The municipality has picked up new reform ideas, and therebyalso trust as a phenomenon, but has additionally kept old reform ideas and their principles ofmanagement. The municipality also shows ambition to deepen horizontal cooperation throughthe principle of trust. Furthermore, this study shows that the municipality has made its owntranslation and interpretation of the concept of trust, which is adapted to the municipality'scontext and its model of management. Leadership is missing in this model of management. Asa whole, the study contributes to a nuanced picture of the concept of trust and can thereby alsocontribute to a critical approach that exists when working towards change. The study alsocontributes to a debate in society and academia regarding deeper analysis of underlying forcesand the appearance of new waves of reform in public management.

Full textThe purpose of this study was to investigate whether a trust-based governance had animpact on the prerequisites for work as a learning organization. This was investigatedthrough qualitative semi-structured interviews. The sample group was limited to theSwedish National Board of Student Aid, based on the organizations prior work withtrust-based governance and the fact that the director general of the Swedish NationalBoard of Student Aid was a member of the Delegation for Trust-Based Public Managementwhen this study was performed. From the gathered data a large number of descriptionswas identified, detailing how the afore-mentioned impact manifested itself. The mostfrequently occurring descriptions was how the employees of the organization had to takeresponsibility for their own learning by creating learning opportunities for themselves,individually or together with co-workers, and how governance through directives createdincentive for learning. Thus, the conclusion is that a trust-based governance has an impacton the prerequisites for work as a learning organization.

Full textThe purpose of this thesis has been to examine the presence of trust-based controland management (tillitsbaserad styrning och ledning) and whether, and in that caseto what degree, the swedish trust reform (tillitsreformen) has affected the level oftrust-based control and management being practiced in the highest municipalmanagement groups. The theoretical assumption has been that a committedleadership (engagerat ledarskap) is essential to achieve success in qualityimprovement projects and that the actions of the most senior managementrepresentatives serve as an important role-model that can create trust, but just aswell disbelief, among those who are to carry out the work in practice. An onlinesurvey study has been directed to the most senior professional and politicallyappointed officials in all swedish municipalities. The question asked was to whichdegree those leaders rate each other’s practice of trust-based control andmanagement and how they view the practice of trust-based control and managementin the government’s and state authorities’ relations with the municipalities. Thequestion was also what change in that practice the trust reform has brought. Theresponse frequency has not been sufficient to make the findings generalizable on anational level. The results that have been achieved show that the municipalityleaders rate each other’s practice of trust-based control and management to a higherdegree than the government and state authorities’ dito. The results indicate that it isthe trust-based leadership of the professional municipal officials who overall havebenefited the most from the trust-reform, the professional municipality leaders arealso the most criticising of the state’s practice of trust-based control andmanagement. The state is also where the change in leadership practice based on thetrust reform is considered to have been the least prominent. The principle ofcitizen-focus (medborgarfokus) is the most prominent principle among thepolitically appointed leaders in the municipalities whereas the principle openness(öppenhet) is the primary principe among the professional leaders. The principles ofknowledge (kunskap), citizen-focus, and openness are the primary principles in thegovernment’s and state authorities’ practice of trust-based control and management.The principle of trust (tillit) is the principe with the lowest degree of practise both inthe relationship between professional and politically appointed officials withinmunicipalities and between the municipalities and the state but at the same timetrust is the principle that has seen the most positive change in it’s practice as a resultof the trust reform. The analysis has not been able to determine any correlationbetween the practice of trust-based control and management from the governmentand state authorities and the practice of the same among the municipal leaders.Instead the analytical conclusion is made that the committed leadership from thegovernment and the state in regards to the the trust reform so far has been regardedas relatively shallow by the municipal leaders and that could have had a negativeimpact on the implementation of trust-based control and management in themunicipal management groups as well.

Full textTrust-based governance and management has recently emerged as a possible governance philosophy in Sweden. Trust-based governance is about organizations improving the quality of their work by increasing trust in the governance chain. When organizations interact with other organizations, they are affected in different ways. But how, and to what extent, are relations between actors in the governance chain affected when the authority's governance changes? And how should relationships be built to contribute to the expected outcomes of trust-based governance? The purpose of the study was to contribute to the knowledge of trust-based governance, by examining sources of trust in relations between authorities and civil society organizations, in a context where the authority operates through the civil society organization. To answer the purpose, five authority employees and one civil society representative were interviewed. Governing documents from the authorities are also included in the basis for the empirical data. The empirical data was analyzed based on Mayer et al.:s model of trust and its factors for trust, and reflects current research on how the model can be broken down and understood in specific contexts. A current research report on trust in relations in the area of international development aid has been the background and inspiration for breaking down the trust factors into smaller components - sources of trust. The results of the study point out five possible sources of trust that exist in the relationship between authorities and civil society organizations: control systems, external expertise, interpersonal relationships, communication, and clarity and expectations. The sources of trust contribute to the building of trust in that they interact and are dependent on each other - as individual aspects of the relationship, they do not necessarily contribute to building a trust-based relationship. The study also shows that if an authority wants to use trust building in these relationships, this also has consequences for governance. Such as, reasonable room for manoeuvre for granting officers or other professionals in grant processes, and that there is clear managerial support due to the fact that the granting officers have the task of managing a certain amount of risk on behalf of the authority.

Full textThe purpose of this study is to explore initiatives that increase customer satisfaction within a municipality. One municipality, Helsingborg, which has succeeded in increasing customer satisfaction in the area of building permits in the national survey Satisfied Customer Index, SCI, has been studied. Three research questions have informed the study: (1) What initiatives have been introduced to increase customer satisfaction in the SCI survey, with the intention of improving results both in the overall survey and in the underlying assessment areas? (2) Based on the initiatives introduced, which cornerstones for offensive quality development have been most widely used?; (3) What other outcomes can an organisation achieve through development work aimed at increasing customer satisfaction in the SCI survey?The study applies a qualitative method with in-depth interviews conducted in Helsingborg, as well as in another municipality, Borås, which serves here as a point of comparison.The study’s result indicates a number of initiatives that can be introduced to increase customer satisfaction. The study also confirms previous evidence of what drives results and shows a number of positive effects that development work can have on organisations. The study also demonstrates that the values for Total Quality Management are compatible with Trust Based Governance and Management, and that previous results for the latter on the national level are also valid at municipal levels.

Full textSince the 1980’s, the New Public Management (NPM) has been the dominating management control philosophy in the Swedish public sector organizations. NPM has predominantly been associated with management by objective and has been expected to increase efficiency within public sector organizations. Today the control system in Swedish public sector organizations is undergoing reform with a new system called trust-based control. The foremost purpose of this new control system is to increase trust within the professions and to the citizens. This study is a qualitative case study of the Swedish Tax Agency’s implementation of the trust-based control system and the challenges that this implementation entails. The study was conducted at the Swedish Tax Agency’s office in Luleå, where managers and employees were interviewed in two stages. A thematic analysis was applied to process the data, in which four main themes appeared; team-based mode of operation, employee responsibility, customer perspective and performance evaluation. The main conclusions of the study are that the Swedish Tax Agency’s interpretation of trust-based control is a team-based mode of operation. The implementation process has been primarily decentralized, with some aid from Susan A. Wheelan’s four-stage model. Furthermore, it is concluded that the foremost challenge with implementing trust-based control is to adjust the performance evaluation to fit the new mode of operation.

Full textThe Swedish Government’s reform to ensure trust based governance aims to create an environment that makes use of employees’ experience and knowledge and balances the need for control against trust. Steering that does not control in detail, but rather allows those conducting operations room for manoeuvre, has much in common with the theory of total quality management. In an organization that delegates responsibility and authority, employees will feel motivated, results will improve and management’s trust in employees will increase. Still, control systems are important since they provide management with information to ensure that employees act and perform in accordance with organizational goals. The aim of the thesis has been to create knowledge about first line managers’ view on the relationship between trust and control, and if that balance can either contribute to, or impede, quality development within governmental authorities. The study involves an exploration of theoretical similarities between trust based governance and total quality management. The research method has been qualitative and the method for data collection has been semi-structured, narrative interviews. The result of the study indicates that the interviewed managers believe that trust contributes to quality development, that a clear framework can promote trust and that trust not is equivalent to absence of steering. The managers emphasize the importance of being available when needed and believe that it is easier for both them and their employees to perform within a clearly defined room for action. The study contributes to a better understanding for government employed first line managers’ views on trust and control.

Full textThe purpose of this thesis is to add knowledge about the headteacher´s governance and management when organizing the collaboration between Leisure-time Centre and compulsory school. Questions asked focused on how Scope for Action and conflicting pressure is met by headteachers. Previous studies show that the headteacher's governance and management, as well as the quality of teaching, need improvement. Collaboration between staff in Leisure-time Centre and the school takes place to a low degree and the connection between learning opportunities is weak. This qualitative study used the Scope for Action Theory as a theoretical starting point and analysis tool. The theory is based on the conflict between formal and informal mechanisms of governance and management. Data was gathered from observations and questionnaires. Analysis was made on basis of the criteria for the continuum uniprofessional - multiprofessional within the Professional Sphere and the continuum differentiated - integrated within the Bureaucratic/administrative sphere. The result shows that Scope for Action was limited by external events and an increase of dependence on external support. Conflicting pressure increased. The culture in the management groups is described as integrated and mostly multiprofessional. Regarding the influence of the Corona pandemic, elements of uniprofessionalism are shown. One conclusion is that a holistic approach is more successful for headteachers to succeed in organizing for collaboration and complementary teaching. In the face of change, an integrated culture characterized by multi-professionalism is likely to be most favorable. The study draws attention to the governance and management perspective; the headteacher's role for attainment of goals in Leisure-time Center as well as testing a mapping method with a conceptual framework, which is theoretically and scientifically anchored in the Scope for Action Theory.

Full textI samband med exporten av flygplan 39 Gripen har sektionen FATPA på Saab AB vuxit och utvecklats kraftigt. För att tydligt definiera och beskriva verksamheten och dess nya arbetsförfarande samt rutiner efter årsskiftet 2005/2006 vill sektionen utveckla en ledningsmodell. Denna skall beskriva hur sektionen FATPA då vill arbeta, framförallt med avseende på sektionens verksamhet skall ledas och styras. Syftet med detta examensarbete är att ta fram och beskriva samt dokumentera denna ledningsmodell som syftar till att säkerställa att verksamheten är välfungerande och kontrollerad. Den i examensarbetet utförda forskningsstudien utfördes genom att först undersöka teori inom ämnet för studien. Utredarna genomförde den empiriska undersökningen genom att deltaga i och observera verksamheten samt genom intervjuer med anställda. Under den empiriska undersökningen utvecklades en generell ledningsmodell vilken är tillämpbar på olika verksamheter. Därefter utfördes en analys av verksamheten genom att ställa den studerade teorin mot empirin. För att analysera studiens empiri användes analysmetoden SWOT. Nästa steg utgjordes av att utveckla samt anpassa den generella ledningsmodellen efter de behov som erhållits utifrån analysen. Den ledningsmodell som utvecklats skall i sin tur säkerställa en verksamhet i vilken man har större kontroll och styrförmåga. Ett viktigt moment, vilket verksamheten saknar, är uppföljning. De områden vilka rekommenderas av utredarna att följa upp är: tidhållning, kvalitet och kostnadseffektivitet. En annan viktig nyckel i sektionens framtid är relationerna till leverantörer vilka levererar underlag som sedan skall förädlas. Om kvaliteten på dessa underlag inte förbättras samtidigt som leveranstiderna för dessa inte möts, genom att exempelvis tydliggöra och formalisera gränssnittet blir all intern verksamhetsutveckling till suboptimering. Det är även av största vikt att bibehålla den verksamhetsutvecklingsgrupp som fanns vid tiden för studien, antingen i dess nuvarande form eller i någon ny konstellation. Detta då verksamheten är i konstant behov av utveckling.

Full textOlika styrtrender har kommit och gått i den offentliga sektorn under de senaste decennierna. Vi fann det därmed intressant och relevant att undersöka den nuvarande styrningen inom den kommunala sektorn under slutet av 2010-talet. För att undersöka detta utgick vi från Växjö kommuns implementering av deras nya processbaserade styrning. Under studien användes institutionell teori för att skapa förståelse för hur den nya styrningen hade implementerats och vilka konsekvenser detta förändringsarbete medförde för ett utvalt antal medarbetare. Studien utgick även från att undersöka om styrtrenderna New Public Management och tillitsbaserad styrning har haft någon inverkan på Växjö kommuns nya styrning. Studien genomfördes genom tio stycken intervjuer med chefer och politiker inom Växjö kommun, för att öka förståelsen för ett kommunalt implementeringsarbete genom att få ta del av deras uppfattningar om hur implementeringen av en ny styrning har gått till. Utifrån vår tolkning av de tio respondenterna tyder det på att det som drev Växjö kommun att genomföra förändringsarbetet var att den nya kommunchefen uppmärksammade problem med den tidigare målstyrningen. Intervjuerna med respondenterna tyder även på att det nya processorienterade arbetssättet har haft stöd från majoriteten av de tio respondenterna. Vidare framhöll respondenterna även att de har haft inflytande och har varit delaktiga i förändrings- och implementeringsarbetet. Vår tolkning utifrån respondenternas berättelser är dock att det har varit svårare att implementera den nya styrningen än att initiera den då förändrings- och implementeringsarbetet har gått för fort fram och har haft vaga och otydligt definierade planer. Genom vår tolkning av respondenternas berättelser fann vi även att trender ej behöver vara flyktiga, utan att trender har implementerats djupgående i Växjö kommun. Avslutningsvis tyder studiens resultat på att Växjö kommuns styrning har influerats mer av tillitsbaserad styrning än av New Public Management.

Full textThe aim of this study is to investigate whether there is a connection between midwives' perception of their work situation and the type of control that the obstetric ward intends. Based on the aim of the study, three research questions were formulated; is there a relationship between leadership and the midwifes trust for their nearest chief? Is there a connection between midwives' experience about their current work situation and work environment? Which is influenced by the way in which the device is managed and if the midwives consider that quality is influenced by the way the obstetric ward is controlled? Our hypothesis is that there is a relationship between control and the variables of trust, work situation and work environment as well as quality. The method used is a quantitative survey. The surveys were awarded to the midwives at the obstetric wards at two different hospitals in western Sweden. To interpret the results, previous research and theoretical starting points are used, which were the structural, political and human relations perspectives. The result showed that the hypothesis could be accepted; there was a connection between the variables. The obstetric wards that used a political or human relations-inspired governance based on the ability of employees to have a high degree of well-being in their midwives. Those who assumed the structural perspective, whose starting point is a hierarchical direction, did not have the same level of well-being among the employees. Furthermore, the study found that the majority of midwives who participated in the survey were pleased with their work situation overall.

Full textThis qualitative interview study focuses on establishing shared management in the public sector. The objective is to shed light on the reason why shared management emerges as an alternative form of management. As well as the conscious choices and motives of decision makers, the study also attempts to capture underlying reasons and to identify any other factors that may influence the emergence of this form of management. A complex picture of factors where the actual situation and the organisation’s standards, conditions and surroundings together with the individuals who populate it, are what influence the emergence of this form of management. There is great confidence in the potential of this form of management and misgivings are downplayed. This form of management is thought to be able to bring synergy effects and symbolic added value to the organisation and is seen as a solution to various problems where it offers an alternative. An open attitude to trying new forms of management, pragmatic attitudes and the vested work-related interests of individuals also influence the emergence of this form of management.

Full textIn 2014, the municipality of Söderhamn initiated a new control and management philosophy, characterized by core values such as increased citizen focus, employee commitment and trust in all operative aspects. These values are the same as the core values of Total Quality Management and leadership for change. The purpose of this qualitative case study was to gain more knowledge about the work involved in implementing the management philosophy as well as the experiences of senior management. Eight managers were interviewed. These semi-structured interviews were then transcribed and collected, after which the empiricism has been interpreted from a hermeneutic perspective based on the theoretical framework of the study. The results indicate that the change process is complex and the leaders have interpreted the guiding values differently, leading to the conclusion that there are differences in the degree of matureness between individuals as well as within the organisation. Moreover, the financial steering in the municipality is not yet accustomed to the new philosophy/ management. The authors conclude that the concepts characterizing the values of the municipality easily become abstract and are hard to implement in practise and, furthermore, there is capacity for improvement in the implementation work.

Full textPurpose and research question: The aim of this thesis is to research how places work with branding in a competitive environment. With this purpose as a background, the following three research questions are formulated with a focus on placebrand: 1. How does leadership and controlling effect the brand for a place? 2. How does cooperation and partnership effect the brand for a place? 3. What factors distinguish the managing of a coherent brand for a place? Method:Our thesis is based on a qualitative research method with a deduction approach with inductive elements. The empirical data comes from twelve semi- structured interviews. The selection of the respondents is based on their experience and knowledge about the research subjects, which also helps us answering the purpose of the study. Conclusion:During the course of the thesis we have been able to state that leadership, controlling, collaboration and partnerships are of great importance for a competitive place brand. Furthermore, the study shows that place brands should strive to be heterogeneous as places can show a rich multifaceted image.

Full textBackground: The trends of globalization and digitalization have led to huge changes in the global market. Companies do not compete only on a regional or national level but also on an international level. The dynamic and volatile market place have led to the fact that companies do not only have to use their existing resources but they also have to be flexible, fast pace and innovative in order to identify new market opportunities. To succeed companies must be strategically entrepreneurial. The increased competitive situation has also forced companies to deliver high capacity and efficiency in all of its activities. Hence, it has become common that companies choose to perform those activities where they have their internal strengths while outsourcing the other activities to organizations by operating in network environments. Purpose: The purpose of the case study is to provide a greater understanding for the concept of strategic entrepreneurship and evaluate the how the network organizations can balance the entrepreneurship and strategy in its business operations. Method: The study is represented of a qualitative research strategy which has been shaped as a case study of the Smiling Group company. The empirical material has been collected through several personal interviews, various experiences and a review of written documentation. Conclusion: We conclude out of this case study that firms in network organizations can balance strategic management and entrepreneurship in their operations by utilizing the strategic advantages provided by the network. We claim that network organizations contribute by giving the individual firm the opportunity to take entrepreneurial action and still creating sustainable competitive advantage.

Full textIntern kontroll handlar om att ha verksamhetens riskområden under kontroll. Brister i intern kontroll kan leda till ett ineffektivt arbete och riskera att utsätta verksamheten och därmed dess aktieägare för risk. När Svensk Kod för Bolagsstyrning (Koden) infördes i juli 2005 var syftet delvis att ge börsnoterade bolag ett ramverk för hur de ska arbeta med och redovisa sitt arbete med dessa frågor som ett led i att åstadkomma god bolagsstyrning.
Uppsatsen undersöker huruvida Koden har förändrat svenska börsnoterade bolags arbete med intern kontroll samt den betydelse förändringen, ur ett investeringsperspektiv, har för aktieägarna.
Agentteorin utgör en grundläggande del av uppsatsens teoretiska ram genom att beskriva relationerna mellan och drivkrafterna bakom de studerade aktörerna, aktieägarna och styrelsen. En täckande schematisk modell av agentteorin saknas i befintlig akademisk litteratur. Uppsatsens författare har därför utformat en sådan modell, som presenteras och utgör stommen i uppsatsens analysmodell.
Nio stycken intervjuer med revisorer och ansvariga för intern kontroll på svenska börsnoterade bolag genomfördes. Vidare utfördes en enkätundersökning bland investerare på svenska fondbolag som ett led i den empiriska datainsamlingen.
Studien visar att införandet av Koden har lett till en förändring i hur svenska börsnoterade bolag idag arbetar med intern kontroll. Förändringen har varit störst i de små och medelstora bolagen, som inte arbetat med dessa frågor tidigare i samma utsträckning som de stora bolagen. Investerarna, och tillika aktieägarna, är inte medvetna om den förändring som skett avseende bolagens arbete med intern kontroll. Investerarna anser dock att intern kontroll är viktigt vid ett investeringsbeslut, men samtidigt inte en av de tre avgörande faktorerna.
Bolagen har i och med sitt ökade arbete med intern kontroll mer börjat identifiera de långsiktiga överlevnadsriskerna. Utfallet av denna förändring i styrelsens arbete har möjligen ännu inte kommit aktieägarna till godo något som kan förklara varför de inte ser intern kontroll som ett avgörande investeringskriterium.
