Abstract:
Il saggio riporta alcune considerazioni scaturite nell’ambito del progetto “Teatro e Apprendimento”, svolto dalla Scuola Teatro Dimitri di Verscio in Canton Ticino con il sostegno del FNS. Il progetto ha introdotto delle pratiche di apprendimento “qualitativo”, ovvero informale, secondo un approccio olistico, per il quale è molto rilevante la dimensione socio-culturale. In questa prospettiva il teatro fornisce una chiave d’accesso privilegiata al patrimonio culturale. Il piano di ricerca ha incluso: un percorso formativo con gli insegnanti di 4 scuole elementari ticinesi; dei laboratori di movimento, canto e musica, lavoro sul testo d’autore, recitazione, drammatizzazione e improvvisazione; 4 messe in scena con protagonisti i soli bambini. La raccolta e analisi dei dati qualitativi da parte di un’équipe scientifica, ha seguito alcune ipotesi circa il rapporto tra teatro e apprendimento, messe a punto per meglio descrivere il procedimento riflessivo informale (apprendere dall’esperienza): Ipotesi della motivazione, della differenziazione, dell’affinamento tecnico, dell’integrazione, dell’interezza, dell’efficacia comunicativa o dell’emozione. Il materiale narrativo raccolto (schede personali, diari di bordo, interviste qualitative) mostra come gli apprendimenti più significativi sono riconducibili alla accresciuta capacità dei bambini di portare a termine un apprendistato formale nelle discipline artistiche. L’attività sperimentale ha favorito l’espressione emozionale e la creatività, l’integrazione dei partecipanti nel gruppo, tra originalità e ripetizione, tra razionalità e corporeità.

Abstract:
L’articolo descrive l’evoluzione della politica scolastica sull’insuccesso e il disadattamento scolastico nel Canton Ticino durante gli ultimi 50 anni. In questo lasso di tempo vi è stata una importante evoluzione demografica e una profonda trasformazione economica. Il sistema scolastico adottato è stato di tipo integrativo e ciò ha profondamente influenzato soprattutto l’organizzazione della scuola secondaria inferiore. Dapprima la democratizzazione degli studi ha modificato il rapporto della società ticinese con la scuola; in seguito la revisione dell’insegnamento speciale e la creazione del Servizio di sostegno pedagogico hanno introdotto una nuova visione delle differenze nell’apprendimento e dell’insuccesso scolastico. Negli ultimi 30 anni, i Servizi creati si sono assestati e le concezioni e le pratiche attorno al disadattamento hanno subito ulteriori evoluzioni, ma all’orizzonte già si stanno profilando nuove esigenze di cambiamento.

RIASSUNTOScopo – Verificare se la popolazione straniera residente nel Canton Ticino differisce nell'utilizzazione delle strutture psichiatriche pubbliche e nel tipo di disagio psichico presentato, rispetto alia popolazione svizzera. Disegno Indagine compiuta sui soggetti di nazionalità svizzera e straniera, con più di 19 anni d'età, residenti nel Cantone Ticino, che hanno avuto nel corso del 1995 almeno un giorno di ricovero presso l'ospedale psichiatrico o almeno un contatto con gli ambulatori. Setting I servizi pubblici dell'Organizzazione sociopsichiatrica cantonale del Canton Ticino. Principali misure utilizzate – Sono stati calcolati per gli svizzeri, gli italiani e gli stranieri non italiani i tassi annuali standardizzati di prevalenza ospedaliera e ambulatoriale e i tassi di prima ammissione e primo contatto ambulatoriale, totali e per categorie diagnostiche (ICD–10). Risultati – Il gruppo degli stranieri non italiani presenta tassi annuali standardizzati totali di prevalenza ospedaliera e, soprattutto, di prima ammissione più elevati rispetto agli svizzeri e agli italiani; inoltre presenta, rispetto agli altri due gruppi, tassi di prima ammissione più alti per le sindromi schizofreniche (F2), negli uomini e per i disturbi psichici dovuti all'uso di sostanze psicoattive (Fl), nelle donne. Mentre nei primi contatti ambulatoriali gli altri stranieri presentano tassi più alti di sindromi nevrotiche, legate a stress e somatoformi (F4), negli uomini e di sindromi affettive (F3), nelle donne. Conclusioni – I risultati ottenuti sembrano confermare la presenza di livelli più alti di disagio psichico tra gli stranieri non italiani, soprattutto per alcune nazionalità, rispetto agli svizzeri e agli italiani. E possibile che la presenza di una consistente offerta di servizi psichiatrici da parte del settore privato possa aver sottostimato l'effettivo disagio psichico, soprattutto nel gruppo degli svizzeri e, in modo minore, in quello degli italiani.

Abstract:
The six-hundredth anniversary of Dante Alighieri’s death was commemorated in 1921 with a rich programme of events. Three of these had as backdrops cities deeply connected to the life of the poet: Florence, Rome and Ravenna. In the latter city, one of the key figures involved in the Dante celebrations was Ambrogio Annoni, an architect and professor at the Regio Politecnico of Milan. It was Annoni, probably, who accompanied a group of student-architects to visit the monuments of Ravenna associated with the life of Dante. Bruno Bossi, a native of Canton Ticino and at the time enrolled in the first year at the Politecnico, would have been among them. The visit to Ravenna, and the celebrations of 1921 in general, could be correlated with an unpublished drawing – an “estempore” to be created in an hour – made by Bossi in May 1921. It is the graphic transposition of a passage from Canto IV of the Inferno, transcribed in the margin of the sheet, in which a large castle is described, surrounded by seven walls, overlooking a narrow river. Bossi translates the architectural image evoked by Dante’s words into a monumental and scenographic building, from which futurist and cinematic echoes emerge. In this way, the future architect paid tribute to the valuable fortified architecture of Canton Ticino, in particular to the castles of Bellinzona, and at the same time demonstrated his early interest in the arts, cinema and theatre, which would accompany him throughout his professional career.

The project Ticinensia disiecta, launched in 2020 and hosted by Fragmentarium, inventories, catalogues and studies medieval manuscript fragments in the Latin alphabet preserved in libraries in the canton of Ticino (Switzerland), with a focus on in situ fragments. The first part of the project concentrates on the library collection of the Capuchin convent of Madonna del Sasso in Orselina, which is fully catalogued in the library system (SBT) of the canton of Ticino. The study and online publication of these fragments helps sketch the circulation, use and perhaps production of medieval manuscripts in this area, as well as examine the practices of their reuse in the binding of books produced between the fifteenth and eighteenth centuries. Among the first results obtained is the discovery of a fragment of a laudario, one of the the oldest witnesses to the Lombard vernacular preserved in Ticino.

Nel contesto ticinese la propensione per la scelta di un percorso formativo con tirocinio in azienda è inferiore rispetto alla media nazionale, dove l’apprendistato duale risulta essere la via maggiormente praticata dai giovani in uscita dalle scuole dell’obbligo. Il presente contributo intende riferire di una ricerca pilota condotta nel Cantone Ticino in merito al passaggio dei giovani dal secondario I al secondario II, mirata alla comprensione delle modalità con cui questa transizione avviene e delle possibili problematicità insite in essa, relative soprattutto alla scelta di un percorso di formazione professionale con tirocinio in azienda.Sono state rilevate le scelte, le ragioni, i criteri e le difficoltà (per mezzo del Career Decision Difficulties Questionnaire) nel processo di scelta al termine della quarta media di circa 170 allievi del Cantone, allargando il rilevamento dei dati anche ai loro stessi genitori, agli orientatori scolastico-professionali, ai coordinatori di sede delle scuole coinvolte e ai docenti di classe. Dai due rilevamenti di dati condotti (a distanza di sei mesi) emergono alcune piste di intervento per quanto concerne l’educazione alla scelta dei giovani, sia nelle sue specificità di sistema (organizzativo-istituzionali), sia nelle sue declinazioni contenutistico-didattiche.

Forest conservation policies in the (Swiss) Canton of Ticino have undergone considerable change since the 1940s. In the 1960s and 1970s, the forest authorities found themselves under great pressure, due to a lack of planning and a construction boom. Mistakes were also made during this time. Afterwards, the situation returned to normal. Developments during this period and lessons learned at the time allow a review of current forest conservation policies to be carried out today. This also takes Swiss regional variations into consideration.

Prende l’avvio, con questo fascicolo, DIDIT. Didattica dell’italiano. Studi applicati di lingua e letteratura, una nuova rivista scientifica nata dalla collaborazione tra il Centro competenze didattica dell’italiano lingua di scolarizzazione del Dipartimento formazione e apprendimento della Scuola universitaria professionale della Svizzera italiana e l’Alta scuola pedagogica dei Grigioni. Alla rivista partecipano quindi due istituzioni universitarie che si occupano della formazione degli insegnanti del Ticino e dei Grigioni, i due cantoni svizzeri in cui l’italiano è lingua ufficiale (nei Grigioni accanto al tedesco e al romancio): un contesto del tutto particolare, che vede l’italiano insieme lingua di scolarizzazione e lingua prima (in Ticino e nel Grigioni italiano), lingua seconda (in Ticino) e lingua straniera nella scuola dell’obbligo (nella parte tedesca del Canton Grigioni). In una realtà così peculiare dal punto di vista linguistico e culturale, DIDIT intende offrire uno strumento di ricerca e aggiornamento rivolto a chi opera, per ragioni di studio o di lavoro, nell’ambito della didattica dell’italiano come lingua prima, come lingua seconda o come lingua straniera. Vista la particolare situazione linguistica del Canton Grigioni, del limitrofo Alto Adige e tenuto conto delle diverse altre lingue presenti sul territorio grigionese e ticinese accanto alle lingue ufficiali, la nuova rivista prende in considerazione anche la ricerca sulla didattica del plurilinguismo. In questo senso la rivista si presenta come luogo di scambio scientifico privilegiato e unico nel panorama delle pubblicazioni scientifiche presenti sul territorio nazionale svizzero e come uno dei pochi strumenti a livello internazionale che prendono in esame l’italiano nei diversi contesti di insegnamento; l’obiettivo sul medio-lungo termine è di configurarsi come un punto di riferimento nel campo degli studi sulla didattica dell’italiano e del plurilinguismo, caratterizzati dal costante connubio tra dimensione teorica e dimensione applicativa. DIDIT è divisa in tre sezioni: Studi e ricerche, Esperienze didattiche e Recensioni e segnalazioni. La prima, affidata alla penna di studiose e studiosi di chiara fama nel settore della didattica della lingua e della letteratura italiana (in questo primo numero Maria G. Lo Duca e Giuliana Fiorentino e, per la tematica del plurilinguismo, Ruth Videsott), accoglie approfondimenti teorici su temi afferenti agli ambiti didattici sopra ricordati. La seconda è dedicata a esempi di applicazioni e percorsi didattici, affidati a studiose e studiosi, ricercatrici e ricercatori, docenti attive e attivi nella scuola di ogni ordine e grado (in questo numero Livia Radici Tavernese, Daniele Dell’Agnola, Stefania Crameri e Daniela Kappler). La terza presenta, infine, recensioni di libri e studi che possono contribuire all’innovazione didattica nelle discipline di riferimento e a segnalazioni di opere – come albi illustrati, poesie, raccolte di racconti e romanzi – rivolte a lettori di diverse fasce di età. Tenuto conto dei contesti minoritari con cui si vede confrontato l’italiano in Svizzera, la rivista ambisce a diventare anche uno strumento per il sostegno e la promozione della lingua italiana in questo contesto nazionale, e non solo. In tal senso, si propone di estendere il proprio orizzonte agli studi sulla didattica dell’italiano in un’accezione ampia, che accolga prospettive plurali e sguardi capaci di spaziare dalla teoria all’applicazione pratica, avendo sempre come obiettivo di fondo un aggiornamento costante sulle strategie, sui metodi, sulle ricerche volte a migliorare e a innovare l’insegnamento dell’italiano. In tal modo la rivista garantisce lo scambio e la comunicazione tra il mondo della ricerca e quello della scuola, a livello nazionale e internazionale: attraverso la scelta dei temi, degli ambiti di ricerca e di riflessione, DIDIT vuole così rispondere alle sfide didattiche e teoriche poste alla disciplina e stimolare il dibattito scientifico e pubblico.

In Switzerland, voluntary termination of pregnancy (VTP) can be performed in all public and private hospitals with an obstetrics/gynaecology department. For various reasons, many Italian women use the Swiss healthcare system, in particular in Canton Ticino, a border region adjacent to Italy in the southern part of Switzerland, when they want to have a VTP. In this study, we aimed to illustrate trends in the VTPs in the Canton Ticino between 2008 and 2015 and demonstrate differences between the Swiss women resident in Switzerland (SSR), foreign women resident in Switzerland (FSR) and foreign women resident abroad (FAR), focusing in particular on the Italian women as during this period there were legal changes in Italy. The number of VTPs was constant on a national level (10,924 in 2008, 10,255 in 2015); in contrast, since 2012 the number has progressively decreased (41%) in Ticino, mainly because of the significant reduction in VTPs in women resident in Italy (decrease of 75.7%). In addition, we wanted to evaluate the impact of the pre-VTP counselling at a family planning centre (FPC) on the VTP decision. The high number of pre-VTP consultations suggests that this service is appreciated and helpful. We observed an encouraging trend in changing the decision to have a VTP after the consultation at the FPC, where 12% of the pregnant women decided to continue the pregnancy. Because of its location, the Canton Ticino is an example how availability of certain drugs, methods and laws can influence the cross-border flow of the patients.

Abstract:
This work deals with the classification and further study of Roman coarse and thin walled pottery from the Locarno region of Canton Ticino, a district of Switzerland on the southern side of Central Alps, in order to establish a reference typology and chronology which may have wider value in Ticino and the nearer regions of northern Italy. The considered pottery comes from the cemeteries and, to a lesser extent, the settlements of the Locarno region, which contains by far the largest number of burials with datable grave-goods in the Canton. The Roman graves from the region range from the beginning of the 1st century AD to the end of the 4th century AD, with a concentration during the 1st and 2nd centuries AD. The analysis of coarse and thin walled pottery has highlighted the potential of information of these materials, considering various aspects such as forms, fabrics, decoration, chronology, origin and distribution. The analysis of the coarse pottery in the grave-goods, in association with sigillata and glass wares, and with coins, seems to suggest centres with stronger Roman influence and centres with stronger native background linked to the settlement of Locarno-Muralto. Parallels with finds from the Verbano region ,and western Lombardy-eastern Piemonte, in particular the area between the rivers Sesia, Po and Adda were highlighted. Lakes Verbano and Lario lead to the alpine passes and linked the Verbano area to the Raetic and Rhine regions. The same area was easily linked to main centres of the eastern Po region as far as Aquileia and Ravenna by the river Po. The present work is not only intended to fulfil the requirement of a British doctoral thesis, but also to satisfy current approaches in Switzerland and complement the systematic studies of other Roman artefacts of the region.

Una prima parte del lavoro è dedicata alla formazione di Romeo Manzoni: la famiglia, gli studi, l'ingresso nella vita politica, l'attività di educatore nel collegio femminile da lui fondato a Maroggia. Una seconda parte prende in considerazione il ruolo di Romeo Manzoni all'interno del Partito Liberale Ticinese dapprima nel Cantone Ticino, con particolare riferimento alla Rivoluzione del 1890, e successivamente alla sua attività di Consigliere Nazionale a Berna. Un'ultima parte tratta le linee fondamentali del pensiero politico di Romeo Manzoni. La ricerca è inoltre corredata di una serie di Appendici che descrivono le fonti manoscritte e non, conservate nei diversi Archivi elvetici e italiani.

The last section of the work deals with the fundamental features of Romeo Manzoni's political thought. A series of appendixes describing manuscript and non-manuscript sources available in Italian and Swiss archives is provided.

La letteratura che si è occupata di scelte e orientamenti professionali e formativi, ha messo in evidenza che le variabili che intervengono in tale ambito sono molteplici. Il livello socio-economico della famiglia è uno degli aspetti più importanti e riconosciuti. Se si presume che tale fattore possa spiegare quasi il novanta per cento delle scelte o percorsi formativi intrapresi dai/le giovani, rimane circa un dieci per cento che richiede un’altra spiegazione. Questo lavoro di ricerca ha tentato di dare una risposta a questa domanda. Punto di partenza è la famiglia d’origine del ragazzo. La famiglia non è però vista solo in modo statico, vale a dire un sistema in cui i genitori influenzano in modo unilaterale il/la giovane attraverso una trasmissione culturale inter-generazionale, ma un sistema dinamico in cui i figli partecipano a tale dinamica, accettando o rifiutando tale trasmissione. Oltre a trasmettere cultura, sapere, stile di vita e comportamenti i genitori trasmettono anche i loro desideri e le loro aspettative. Questi ultimi sono presenti anche nei confronti della scelta formativa e professionale del/la giovane. I/le giovani possono però sia identificarsi con tali desideri o aspettative, sia non identificarsi. Si potrebbe quasi dire che alla base di tutto ci sia un contratto in cui il/la giovane accetta o non accetta di farsi portavoce dei desideri paterni o materni. Questo aspetto è stato il punto di partenza per comprendere come l’identificazione dei figli con i genitori possa giocare un ruolo importante in tale processo.

El objetivo de esta tesis doctoral titulada: "Restauradores en Canton Ticino entre Ottocento y Novecento. Catalogación y gestión de datos" es el de individualizar y clasificar los personajes más relevantes promotores de la revalorización del patrimonio histórico-artístico en su país, concretamente en el campo de la restauración de las pinturas murales, desde los pintores-restauradores más conocidos como Edoardo Berta, Emilio Ferrazzini y Tita Pozzi a otros menos distinguidos como Carlo Cotti, Ottorino Olgiati, Mario Moglia, Nino Facchinetti, Carlo Mazzi y Pompeo Maino. La información recogida entre la hetereogeneidad de documentos que componen archivos públicos, archivos privados y bibliotecas ha sido analizada y ordenada con la finalidad de caracterizar la praxis ejecutiva de cada uno de los personajes individualizados, así como para servir a futuras investigaciones, a restauradores profesionales, a historiadores y a conservadores entre otros. También por este último motivo han sido estudiados los más recientes programas de base de datos factibles a contener, relacionar y visualizar la documentación elaborada, atendiendo a requisitos indispensables como el uso de una terminología normalizada, permitir el libre acceso a los datos y la creación de una red amplia y "viva" que favorezca la difusión de la memoria.

After a long process, the reopening of Milanese canals has become one of the fundamental actions of the Town Plan approved in 2019. A strategic project that plans to reactivate the covered section of the Naviglio Martesana and the Cerchia Interna, reuniting Adda and Ticino rivers, and give new life to the great Renaissance project that Leonardo himself had worked on. In its methodological approach and in the specific outcome achieved, we can recognize elements of continuity with Leonardo’s thinking and contribute to a territorialist reflection on its current relevance.

Abstract The effect of climate on the evolution of tick populations remains difficult to disentangle from other possible causes and undoubtedly varies depending on the region concerned and local tick species. Large-scale, long-term monitoring is, therefore, necessary to accurately assess climatic impact on tick populations. Climate change can alter tick populations, either indirectly by affecting vertebrate host populations or directly by increasing or decreasing their numbers. These ectoparasites, and in particular hard ticks, spend almost their entire life cycle in the external environment, thus climatic conditions influence their activity, viability and distribution. This expert opinion aims to illustrate the impact of climate change, and its association with other variables, on the distribution and abundance of tick populations in Europe using Ixodes ricinus and Hyalomma marginatum as typical examples of endemic and invasive species, respectively.

AbstractTheSeprio is an ancient territory with a history of millennia in which we find five important Longobardcenters: Sibrium(Castelseprio), Pagus Artiaco (Arsago Seprio), Castrum Novate (Castelnovate), and, further north, Stabulum (presently Stabio in the Swiss Canton of Ticino) and Campiliorum (now Campione d’Italia, an Italian exclave in Switzerland). The elements present in the grave goods of the Seprio have allowed us to understand that the Longobardwarrior held a shield, brandished a spatha (sword), and carried a scramasax (short weapon to a single cut), a spear, and in some cases even an axor bow and arrows, while the most important warriors were equipped with mailor lamellar armorand helmet. From the type of accoutrements (harnesses, belt elements, personal objects, pottery, golden crosses), it is possible to trace the owner’s position in the hierarchy of nobility, in the same way, that the degree of sophistication of the weapons and the shield indicated the social position of the warrior who wore them. The spatha and the scramasax were status symbols of the Longobardwarrior; they brought to the fore and underlined his status as a nobleman and free man. The Seprio has always played a leading role in the geopolitical events that have affected ancient Insubria in all its historical phases. In the last fifty years, many relics of the Arimannia of the Seprio have been unearthed and studied, but much still lies buried which scientific research is only slowly bringing to the surface.

AbstractThe extant priority-purchasing literature has restricted attention to the case where the only epoch for customers to purchase priority is upon arrival, and if customers choose not to upgrade when they arrive, they cannot do so later during their wait. A natural alternative is to let customers pay and upgrade to priority at any time during their stay in the queue, even if they choose not to do so initially. For instance, visitors to the London Eye could purchase a fast-track ticket at any point in their waiting process. Likewise, USCIS could allow a petitioner to file a request of expedited processing at any time after submission, not just at the moment of submission. If in-queue priority purchase is enabled, an immediate follow-up design question is whether to let customers in the regular line upgrade all at once (i.e., simultaneously) or one at a time (i.e., sequentially). In light of these considerations, this chapter examines the following two questions regarding in-queue priority purchase: (1) how will customers behave if they can upgrade to priority at any time during their wait in the queue? (2) how will rules on the specific timing of priority upgrade (i.e., simultaneous vs. sequential) impact customer behavior? This chapter is primarily based on Wang et al. (Queueing Syst 97:343–381, 2021) where interested readers can find proofs of the findings shown in this chapter.

The San Gotthard railway base tunnel, located in Switzerland, connects the cities of Ersfeld with Bodio, has an extension of 57 km, and was inaugurated in June 2016. Its construction has generated an integral system, with the purpose of achieving efficient operation. These types of projects generate permanent transformations in urban environments and landscape. Without long-term articulated policies, directed only at economic competitiveness or national development, and leaving aside policies for protecting the environment and strengthening existing infrastructures and intermodal transport, run the risk of being political instruments that devastate the territories where they are implanted.The first project of the San Gotthard base tunnel dates back to 1961, since that date a number of variants have been made to the project in relation to the financing plan, routes, connections, commercial strategies, capacity for transporting people and merchandise, works compensation, among others. At the time the final project was finalized, the intervention of the confederation at different scales was fundamental, generating a set of actions and international agreements that are part of the so-called "Gothard System", adopting measures with a wide variety of areas and among them reveals that it is possible to execute an adequate policy of managing the waste generated by the construction of the tunnel and of transferring merchandise traffic from road to rail through the Swiss Alps.The Gotthard Base Tunnel is considered the longest in the world; it took 17 years to build and thousands of workers to complete. It is part of the European Rhine-Alps rail freight traffic corridor, which runs from the cities of Rotterdam and Zeebrugge in the Netherlands to the Italian city of Genoa. This transport and logistics infrastructure is essential for the correct development of this commercial and communication corridor, the complexity of its operation reaches different scales: transnational, national, multilateral, regional and subnational.The purpose of this study is to develop an approach that shows the experience in Switzerland and the effects of the construction of the San Gotthard base tunnel in the creation of complementary works, such as agricultural and environmental compensations, projects that enhance the intermodal system. Three levels of analysis were identified that involve the cities located in Switzerland and Italy. At the Milan-Zurich metropolitan level, Mendrisio-Stabio-Arcisate-Varese-Gallarate cross-border level, and at the local level the Swiss cantons of Ticino, Uri and Grigioni. Additionally, a brief comparative analysis is carried out with the future base tunnel that will link the French city of Lyon with the Italian city of Turin, in order to identify some of the effects produced by the construction of the San Gotthard base tunnel on the border between Switzerland and the north of Italy.
