Mamatov, Gleb M. "Motive of the music of the moon in the poetry by K. D. Balmont." Izvestiya of Saratov University. Philology. Journalism 22, no. 1 (February 21, 2022): 78–83. http://dx.doi.org/10.18500/1817-7115-2022-22-1-78-83.

Abstract:
In the article the motive of the music of the moon in K. D. Balmont’s poetry is researched on the material of his poems, prose and aesthetic articles. Its symbolic value and evolution in books of the early, mature and late periods are explored. The following conclusions are drawn. In the early lyric poetry of Balmont the moon is associated with the oxymoronic motive of the ‘sounding silence’. This motive is determined by the principal role of psychologism in the early poems of the symbolist, the ‘sounding silence’ emphasizes the state of the inner world of the hero, who is always detached from reality and is reflecting on the essence of life and death. The connection of the motive of the ‘sounding silence’ with gothic symbolic range is considered, which is characteristic for the first books by Balmont. In his mature lyrical poetry, the moon is associated with the theme of music, which has a lot of connotations. Firstly, the music of the moon correlates with the traditional motives of poetry and art. In the book Let’s be Like the Sun the world is on the line between lunar silence and melody of strings, which the poet uses to play his odes to the orb of the night. But in mature poetry in the books Only Love. Seven-color Flower, Liturgy of the Beauty. Hymns of the Elements and Sonnets of Sun, Honey and Moon. The song of worlds lunar music is connected with themes of fairy tale, magic, love, dream and phantasy, but at the same time with motives of the illusion, unfeasible reveries, death, specularity and ghostliness. Particular attention is paid to the connection between the motive of lunar music and the philosophy of music of the senior symbolist and his spontaneous mythology. No less important is the functioning of this motive in the poem The Moon, dedicated to the cosmogonic myth of the creation of the world, where moon music is related to the themes of archaic mythology and the motives of initiation, death, rebirth and transformation into a deity.

Abstract:
Since the outbreak of the Novel Coronavirus Pneumonia in 2019, several cities have been blocked to prevent the expansion of the infection. This qualitative study aimed to determine the motives of urban residents for visiting urban green spaces during the epidemic (especially within the context of the city blockade), and what might weaken these motives. In total, 47 residents (17 men and 30 women) were recruited from Chengdu, in China, to participate in interviews. A thematic analysis was used to analyze the interview data. According to the results, the motives of the respondents were divided into strong motives and weak motives. These strong motives for visiting UGS can be divided into four themes: “A place for health”, “Escape”, “Social support”, and “A safe and important place for outdoor activities”. Residents classified as the weak motive primarily considered the reasons of “Keep distance with others”, “Potential infection risk” and “Seek compensation”. The results of this study are significant for current and future urban management, green space planning, and social well-being.

Abstract:
Purpose The purpose of this study was to develop a measurement scale to assess work motives for hospitality employees utilizing McClelland’s theory of needs as the theoretical underpinning. Design/methodology/approach Both qualitative and quantitative methods were applied to achieve the study purpose. First, individual interviews were conducted to explore employee work motives and develop work motive scale items. Second, data from a self-administered paper questionnaire, completed by 388 respondents, were used to validate the developed scale. Findings Four themes were identified which reflect employees’ perspectives of hospitality jobs and culture: the job itself, need for affiliation, need for achievement and need for power. The developed scale, consisting of 22 items, was found to be reliable and valid in assessing work motives. Research limitations/implications The majority of participants were entry-level employees; therefore, the developed scale may not be useful when assessing work motives of individuals not in front-line positions. Future research could extend the measurement model to investigate work motives of individuals in managerial positions. In addition, future research could assess work motives as antecedents of employee organizational behaviors and attitudes. Practical implications The developed scale could be used as a selection tool to assess applicants’ work motives, thereby assisting employers in making effective hiring decisions. Originality/value This study contributes a new reliable and valid measurement scale developed specifically to address the unique work motives desirable for individuals seeking employment in the hospitality industry.

Abstract:
The article considers the possibility to interpret motive and concept as two parallel ways of pre-predicative matter of internal speech incarnation. Lev Vygotsky’s doctrine about thought and word, which arose in the philosophical context of neo-Kantianism and dialectics peculiar to the beginning of the 20th century, creates the possibility of such interpretation. The primacy and substantiality of art’s content before its incarnation was recognized and declared by such thinkers and poets of The Silver Age as Andrey Bely and Boris Pasternak. The word “matter” itself was a working concept in the aesthetic reflections of Pasternak. In his own work, invariant themes were embodied in both narrative and lyrical modality, and in the form of reasoning. Generic boundaries, thus, shown their permeability and, therefore, a conventionality. On the other hand, the adjacent status of artistic and theoretical ways of speech was realized in the search of the formal school of poetics in 1920s. Boris Tomashevsky in his classical textbook of poetics interpreted the “theme” as an atom of “matter”. In the status of thematic units, that is, units of “matter” division, the scientist considered both the plot and the motive. With this, he stated the possibility of two paths to dispose thematic elements: fabulous story based on causal- temporal relationships, and without fable. On the second way, according to Tomashevsky, lyrical works emerge, and it also generates dialectics of theoretical reasoning. This allows to consider theoretical reasoning as a parallel method of organizing thematic material – “matter”. Concepts are joined in the propositions exactly the same as the motives are combined in the plots. Additional similarity of concepts and motives is created by the only systemic way of their existence, established by such researchers as, on the one hand, Lev Vygotsky, on the other, Vladimir Propp. So there is a prospect of parallel systematization of categories: motive, concept, plot, proposition, and others related to them. Reference to the experience of literature shows that the thematic elements of the matter can be embodied both as concepts and as motives even within one work. The example is the “Word of Law and Grace”, in which the themes of Law and Grace, first, are revealed in the conceptual comparison, and secondly, are embodied in the images of Hagar and Sarah from the Old Testament. So clearly appears concurrency of concepts and motives as ways of realization of thematic “matter”.

Abstract:
The article reviewed the main cinematic techniques, themes and motives used by J. Val del Omar for the lyrical conceptualization of the image of the city in the film “Vibrations of Granada” (1935) and analyzed their semantics. It demonstrates how the documentary narrative splits into pure representation and an area of allegorical tension, supported by key metaphors as sources of expanded motives. The metaphor of the Garden of Eden represents Granada as an image of Paradise; the use of the motive of water as the main element of drama contributes to the actualization of philosophical semantics and in combination with the green filter through which the film is projected, forms the fabulous-onyric character of the narrative; the visual motive of verticality created by camera angles, editing, etc, acquires the axiological meaning of the city's spiritual aspiration upward. It is revealed that the film’s style was influenced by the optics of cinematic impressionism, the R. Flaherty’s documental aesthetics and the poetic images of F. Garcia Lorca. This artistic program permits consideration of the film as an ethnographically and existentially accentuated version of the films of the “city symphony” of the 1920s and 1930s.

Cherkasova, E. A. "The uncompleted cycle about poetry as theurgy in Vl. Solovyov’s lyrical poetry of the second half of the 1890s." Solov’evskie issledovaniya, no. 4 (December 15, 2020): 20–33. http://dx.doi.org/10.17588/2076-9210.2020.4.020-033.

Abstract:
The author examines the inter-connections of subjects and motives in ten poems which Solovyov wrote in the second half of the 1890s. The method of motive analysis shows that those works bear the mark of a verse unity making an uncompleted cycle. It appears that Solovyov’s poems during that period can be related not only to his aesthetic and philosophical works but also to the lyrical pieces of earlier poets. Thus, it is shown that ten poems belong to the tradition of A.A. Fet, K.K. Sluchevsky, A.N. Maykov, V.A. Zhukovsky and Ya.P. Polonsky. It is suggested to call this uncompleted cycle “Poetry as theurgy”. A brief review is proposed of the aesthetic and philosophical ideas which are important to understand the general theme canvass of the cycle. The common theme and cross-cutting motives of twelve poems forming that cycle are defined. It is suggested to consider that the lyrical mystery theme is common to all the poems of that cycle. It is shown that the prophetic motive and images/symbols of nature and of the poet as prophet can be traced throughout the whole of the cycle. The conclusion is that Solovyov has created a series of poems which, through their themes and motives, prolong and complete each other, thus offering an uncompleted cycle of poetry as theurgy. From the point of view of its structure and content, that cycle is typical of the literary epoch when it was composed, being a continuation of the classical tradition while at the same time creating a new tradition, that of the symbolists.

Niemczyk, Jerzy, Aleksandra Sus, Kamil Borowski, Bartosz Jasiński, and Katarzyna Jasińska. "The Dominant Motives of Mergers and Acquisitions in the Energy Sector in Western Europe from the Perspective of Green Economy." Abstract:
The aim of the research, the results of which are used in this publication, was to identify the motives for mergers and acquisitions in the energy sector after the introduction of green economy elements in Western Europe. The mentioned region is the group of countries where changes related to the move to green energy are most visible (in addition to some countries from other regions, such as Singapore, New Zealand, or countries of the Arabian Peninsula). The research assumed the hypothesis that over the years since the Paris Conference the themes of mergers and acquisitions have changed from motives close to the views related to energy generation in traditional systems (black energy in large, monopolistic systems) to motives close to green energy (the research hypothesis). This was confirmed in the research, as business risk diversification (defined as diversification of the power sources from black to green) was the most popular M&A motive. In addition to emphasizing the direction of changes in the M&A motives, the authors of this study decided to check whether since 2015 (when the Paris Conference was organized) the motives behind the M&A transactions conducted by companies operating in the electrical energy generation sector have changed, making their motives close to the green energy dominant in Western Europe. Apart from verification of the abovementioned hypothesis, the aim of the research was to check whether there are any characteristic directions of changes in M&A motives across companies from particular Western European countries. The motives are changing from positional approaches to motives closer to resource approaches (green economy). The research used a critical analysis of the literature on the subject, a study that used desk research based on openly available sources and our own analytical tool developed for the needs of this analysis, which is the transformation of the concept of analysis of the M&A motives proposed in K. Borowski’s research: “The strategic development of the technology companies. The mergers and acquisitions perspective”.

Abstract:
The manuscript presents a thematic analysis of a U.S. adult sample’s self-reported motives and perception of environmental activists’ motives to engage in pro-environmental behavior via a qualitative online survey. I identified themes using a two-stage coding procedure. First, undergraduate research assistants coded all content into 1 or more of 17 inductive content categories. Second, I examined the categories and created five themes based on both inductive and theoretical considerations: (a) harm and care, (b) purity, (c) waste and efficiency, (d) spreading awareness, and (e) self-interest (mostly non-financial). Some themes (harm and care; preserving purity; and self-interest) were consistent with previous research and theory, but themes of waste and efficiency and spreading awareness have been less explored by previous work as key motivators of pro-environmental behavior, suggesting ripe avenues for future research. Conversely, some factors that have been proposed by previous research as key possible motives of pro-environmental behavior were not described by participants in the present work. The endorsement of themes was qualitatively similar across individuals’ descriptions of their own vs. environmental activists’ motives. Collectively, these findings suggest that individuals’ descriptions of common motives for pro-environmental behavior partially aligns with factors commonly proposed in environmental psychology literature, but key discrepancies warrant further investigation.

Abstract:
Women represent the fastest growing demographic for the fantasy sports industry, making up approximately 38% of fantasy football participants. To help understand this growth, this study was an attempt to explore why women play fantasy football. Themes and statements derived from qualitative data collected through open-ended survey responses and face-to-face interviews were tested on two samples of female fantasy football participants. In all, 450 unique individuals were studied, and five distinct motive factors were uncovered: Challenge, Enjoy, Enhance, Socialize, and Connect. The first three dimensions mirror the motives of male participants, and the other two are unique to women. While the factors were correlated, the results provide evidence that the factors impact different outcomes associated with the activity.

Abstract:
Gapura Karomah is a loan program run by the Bank Pengkreditan Rakyat (BPR) with zero percent (0%) Tanah Laut interest for people who have difficulties in terms of capital. This research focuses on debtors of the Gapura Karomah program who make smooth payments of credit return obligations even though there is no collateral provided. The purpose of this research is to find out the motives for the reasons and the motives for the benefits of the debtor to make smooth payment of loan repayments even without collateral and to analyze how the debtor maintains the trust of the BPR and the Tanah Laut Regency Government. This study is qualitative research that explores and describes in detail a situation or phenomenon of the research object studied by developing concepts and gathering existing facts using the Schutz Phenomenology approach. This phenomenology analyzes research findings through themes originating from the presentation of data that can provide an overview of the motives for the causes and benefits of the debtor. The results of the study show that BPRs provide a program, namely Gapura Karomah, by providing credit without interest and without collateral but through a long process. The causal motives are the intention to make payments on time, have other income from other business sources, and have good financial management. The benefit motive is to help develop a business with capital obtained from credit and maintain the good name of the debtor for ease of applying for credit in the future. The way the debtor maintains the trust of the BPR is by setting aside any income from the main operating results as well as from other sources of business income.

Abstract:
The article is focused on the aspects of the lyrical motive theory connected with the project of the motives’ index of Gabdulla Tuqay’s lyric poetry. The conceptual provisions for the index are formulated on the basis of systematized works on the lyrical motive problem. The lyrical motif is considered as a theme-rematic unity based on the functional identity of the motif and the theme. When analyzing lyrical motifs, it is important to establish the contexts that determine their semantics: biographical, cultural-historical, literary (components of literary tradition (traditional images, motives, themes) and modern artistic and non-artistic texts). These theoretical and methodological provisions are demonstrated by the example of the motivational analysis of Gabdulla Tuqay’s poems, united by the theme of hope and hopelessness. It is established that poems in which the lyrical personage experiences a value crisis prevail among the works of this thematic group: “Omid” (“Hope”, 1910), “Ozelgan Omid” (“Broken Hope”, 1908), “Omidsezlek” (“Hopelessness”, 1910). Semantic representations of the motive of hope and hopelessness in these poems by G. Tuqay are revealed. The factors influencing the semantics of this motif of his poetry are determined, the intertextual connections of the analyzed poems, biographical, cultural and historical contexts determining the semantics of the studied motif are analyzed. The article raises the question of the influence of the Eastern poetic tradition and the principles of meaning formation typical for the Arab-Muslim culture on the semantics of G. Tuqay’s lyrical motifs. In accordance with the special nature of the connection between word and meaning in Arab-Muslim Philology (“indication of meaning”), the analysis of G. Tuqay’s poem “Ber Man” (1910) demonstrates the possibility of transition from the explicit content of the poem to the hidden meaning. The analysis let us determine the role of reminiscences for the meaning of the poem interpreted as a work about a transcendental event (G. Tuqay’s poem “Poet and Khatif”, Quranic reminiscence-quote from 107th ayat of the 21st Surah of the Quran). In “Ber Man” there is an actualization of the internal form of the word, in accordance with the etymological meaning of the word “man” (from Arabic “ma’na” – meaning), which gives reason to consider the change in the mental condition of the lyrical personage as a process of acquiring the once lost meaning. At the same time, considering that G. Tuqay’s poetic talent developed at the intersection of Tatar, Russian, and European literatures, it should be mentioned that it is inadmissible to absolutize the Eastern origin as the only one which determines the motives’ semantics in the lyrics of the Tatar poet.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to explore the motives of online sellers of counterfeit products in online social networking sites. Design/methodology/approach The study uses a sample of 22 in-depth interviews with counterfeit sellers. Findings Based on the findings, the authors have developed a framework called “Dark motives-counterfeit selling.” The framework includes ten motives for selling online counterfeit products organized into four main themes. Personal characteristics include self-interest priority and sense of adventure. Moral justifications consist of denial of responsibility, and inequality hypothesis of self-deception process, and social acceptance. Operational aspects include: low-cost investment, free riding on luxury brands’ marketing effort, and invisibility from regulators. Finally, relationship management involves projecting image using volitional cues and interpersonal relationship with buyers. The themes regarding personal characteristics and morality are associated with their choice of counterfeit business. The other two themes are associated with the use of social networking sites for counterfeit business. Finally, some outcomes of online counterfeit retailing were revealed as value creation for the counterfeit buyers and value destruction for genuine brands’ customers. Originality/value This study investigates different rationalization strategies and motives behind selling counterfeit products with a special focus on online platforms. This is among the first to investigate the perspectives of counterfeit retailers in social network sites.

Abstract:
Why do some fans travel to follow professional sport teams? In order to answer that question, participant observation and ethnographic interviews were used to examine the motives and behaviors of a group that undertakes a 5-day bus trip to watch its team play in a distant city. Nostalgia was identified as a key element of the experience. In particular, nostalgic recollections of past trips were found to be a vital basis for repeated travel by the group and for socializing new members. Five themes having to do with nostalgia were identified: nostalgia as motive, norms and rituals as objects of nostalgia, best experience as object of nostalgia, nostalgia as a basis for trip suggestions, and nostalgia through socialization. It is suggested that group-based nostalgia can play a more significant role in fan travel behavior than has heretofore been recognized and that nostalgic appeals can foster repeat purchase.

Abstract:
The philosophical views of German romantics, as well as images, motives, chronotopes characteristic of German romanticism, embodied in the domestic urban fantasy are analyzed. Special attention is paid to the techniques of the comparative method. The scientific novelty of the research lies in the almost complete absence of works devoted to the study of urban fantasy. It is noted that this fantasy subgenre has not been considered in detail in the context of the continuation of the traditions of romantic German literature. The theoretical basis of the research is presented by the works of M. M. Bakhtin, N. Ya. Berkovsky, V. M. Zhirmunsky, Yu. M. Lotman, S. S. Levochsky, etc. It was revealed that urban fantasy inherits the main images, themes, motives, symbols that dominated in German romanticism: the motive of a double, the image of a doll, an artist, etc. It was established that the authors of urban fantasy not only reproduce the image of a romantic artist-creator, but depict a character-demiurge. It has been proven that urban fantasy deepens and transforms the romantic “night beginning”: the images of the dead and vampires become plot-forming characters in independent series of works. It is concluded that the authors of urban fantasy, like German romantics, activate the readers’ attention to mythology and folklore, creating new fantastic worlds with their help.

Abstract:
The main aim of the paper is to highlight the relationship between Christianity and homosexuality based on selected fiction texts by Czech writers and poets (Zeyer, Fuks, Kuběna, Georgiev). The selected authors represent different historical periods and different currents of opinion. We are convinced that the theoretical part provides a suitable methodological basis for the part of the paper in which we discuss homosexual motives in selected works of the mentioned authors. To sum up, we can state that the explicit expression of homoerotic and other motives is only relevant today; in artistic narratives dating back to the 19th and 20th centuries, these symbols are expressed in a hidden way, and it is up to each recipient to decide whether and to what extent they see them in these narratives. Zeyer could not fully express himself; he was forced to use hidden symbols to be who he felt he was, at least in his works. Kuběna, in the context of the 1970s, treats the topic of homosexuality very openly, he is not afraid of being condemned by society. Fuks´ works are characterized by a considerable degree of autobiography. Despite Georgiev´s clear rejection of faith, a believing homosexual appears more than once in his work. In this paper we try to fill a certain gap in the field of comparative research in works of art and poems by authors who in some way tended to homosexuality because within the Czech context, we have encountered this area of scholarly articles sporadically.

Abstract:
Contemporary crafts are experiencing a vigorous revival not only as bearers of cultural heritage and meaningful leisure activity, but increasingly as a career choice. According to UNESCO, the creative economy is now one of the world’s most rapidly growing sectors. Recent statistics show that this is apparent in the Icelandic economy. With the rise in precarity of work and challenges in career development, people are seeking meaningful and sustainable careers, as is evidenced by an increase in self-employment and micro-entrepreneurship. The main research question of this study was: How do contemporary craft makers in Iceland make sense of taking up and maintaining financially risky self-employment? Data collection and analysis was therefore focused on motives and shared meaning. The primary empirical data consists of fifteen semi-standardized interviews. Reflexive thematic analysis was conducted. The constant comparison method was also applied. Needs for authenticity, autonomy, and self-determination, along with passion for creating, were important motives. Negative career shocks were an unexpectedly common motive. Three main themes were developed to describe how participants reasoned their career choice: a second chance, a natural choice, and an act of agency. The analysis revealed craft knowledge as a valuable resource for participants seeking personal sustainability through self-employment. The study adds to an understanding of the value of crafts and craft knowledge in contemporary society. Keywords: craft knowledge, self-employment, personal sustainability, career sustainability, career shocks

Abstract:
This study examined whether perceived barriers, benefits, and motives for physical activity differed based on allocation to 2 different types of primary-care activity-prescription programs (pedometer-based vs. time-based Green Prescription). Eighty participants from the Healthy Steps study completed a questionnaire that assessed their perceived barriers, benefits, and motives for physical activity. Factor analysis was carried out to identify common themes of barriers, benefits, and motives for physical activity. Factor scores were then used to explore between-groups differences for perceived barriers, benefits, and motives based on group allocation and demographic variables. No significant differences were found in factor scores based on allocation. Demographic variables relating to the existence of chronic health conditions, weight status, and older age were found to significantly influence perceived barriers, benefits, and motives for physical activity. Findings suggest that the addition of a pedometer to the standard Green Prescription does not appear to increase perceived motives or benefits or decrease perceived barriers for physical activity in low-active older adults.

Abstract:
The purpose of this paper is to identify the evolving themes in dark tourism research. The increase in death-related incidents in the last few years has increased the consumption of dark tourism, igniting a resurgence of dark tourism literature. This study retrieves 363 articles published in Scopus-indexed journals from 1996 to 2021, using the SPAR-4 SLR technique to identify the themes using Sci2 and Gephi software. Keyword co-occurrence network, Bibliographic coupling network, and Collaboration networks were used to identify the knowledge clusters in dark tourism literature. The study reveals that existing studies have largely focused on the scope of dark tourism, destination identification and management, marketing aspects, motives, experiences, and engagement, and mitigating moral and ethical dilemmas. As the themes have remained consistent since the past studies, the study concludes that the research on DT has become stagnated, and there is a need for a novel approach. For that, it recommends that the scope of dark tourism should be enhanced beyond heritage tourism and promoted as a tool for global peace. Further, several gaps in marketing and visit and emotional engagement aspects are identified that could become the research agendas in future studies.

Abstract:
People with anxiety disorders tend to make decisions on the basis of avoiding threat rather than obtaining rewards. Despite a robust literature examining approach-avoidance motivation, less is known about goal pursuit. The present study examined the content, motives, consequences, and daily correlates of strivings among adults diagnosed with social anxiety disorder and healthy controls. Participants generated six strivings along with the motives and consequences of their pursuit. Compared with controls, people with social anxiety disorder were less strongly driven by autonomous motives and reported greater difficulty pursuing strivings. Coders analyzed strivings for the presence of 10 themes: achievement, affiliation, avoidance, emotion regulation, generativity, interpersonal, intimacy, power, self-presentation, and self-sufficiency. People with social anxiety disorder constructed more emotion regulation strivings than did controls, but they did not differ across other themes. This research illustrates how studying personality at different levels of analysis (traits, strivings) can yield novel information for understanding anxiety disorders.

Although there is no direct relationship between both texts, I show that they share a common traditional narrative form, and that they both belong to the humorous and joking literature. In this context, one can assume an indirect relationship between the texts, probably based on the oral or written knowledge of a number of motives, both in the case of the author of Finkenritter and the writer of Peregrynacja Maćkowa. The motives in question are highly characteristic of the Cocagne (Schlaraffenland) themes. These Cocagne themes constantly acquire a local and therefore different characteristic or quality.

Abstract:
Purpose The purpose of this study is to examine the stages involved in occupational dream pursuit (ODP). In this study, dreams are studied in the context of life-changing, occupational endeavors. The judgment and decision-making that fuels the process and the consumption motives that appear throughout the various stages of the journey are examined through the narratives of individuals living out their career-related dreams. Design/methodology/approach Open-ended interviews were conducted with individuals who were embarking on a life-changing career attainment experience. The narratives of these informants uncovered psychological, social and behavioral aspects of the dream pursuit process. Findings Through the informants’ narratives, common themes emerged with respect to the ODP journey, and these themes offered a fluid interpretation of the stages involved in the dream pursuit process: revelation, inciting action, development, maintenance and evolution. At each stage, specific consumption motives and behaviors predominate. These themes, including the consumption, psychological and developmental processes that take place at each stage, are discussed through the narratives of the informants. Research limitations/implications This study highlights the role of positive emotions, personal growth, consumption motives and behaviors in ODP. Originality/value Dreams give individuals a sense of purpose and being. Although conventional wisdom acknowledges the importance of dream actualization, limited behavioral research has explored the nuances of ODP with regard to decision-making and consumption.

Abstract:
Studies have shown that the circumstances and motivation for becoming a caregiver are closely related to the caregiver’s well-being and the quality of care provided, which, in turn, affects the quality of life of the person receiving the care. This article aimed to reveal the motives behind decisions related to an aging relative’s care – motives to assume the caregiving duties and motives to remain in the caregiving role. In total, seven family caregivers participated in semi-structured interviews. Two main themes related to caregiving motivation were revealed: (1) motives to assume the caregiver role, and (2) motives to continue with family care. The results of the research were interpreted using the perspective of self-determination theory (Ryan & Deci, 2000; 2017). This study revealed that key motivational drivers of caregiving decisions were associated with the satisfaction of the three basic psychological needs – autonomy, competence, and relatedness. Meeting these needs in the context of caregiving not only strengthened the caregivers’ motivation to take on the caregiving role but also motivated them to continue with family care, even after the autonomy of care recipients had increased significantly.

Abstract:
The results of a comparative analysis of the story “Notes from the Underground” by F. M. Dostoevsky and the works of S. Beckett are presented in the article. It is shown how Beckett critically interprets the main novels of the Russian writer. The novelty of the work is seen in the fact that the problem of Beckett as the “heir” of Dostoevsky and his “Notes from the Underground” is considered in Russian literary criticism for almost the fi time. Based on the plays “Waiting for Godot”, “All that Fall”, the novel “Molloy” and the story “First Love”, the author demonstrates how Dostoevsky’s themes, motives and images are refracted in Beckett’s work. Particular attention is paid to the motive of “underground” love. A similarity was found between Dostoevsky’s story and Beckett’s works in spatial and temporal characteristics (uncertainty of the scene, nonlinearity of time, repetition of situations). It has been proven that these characteristics serve to designate a world without God, in which landmarks and goals are lost, positive and rational foundations are broken. It has been established that for Dostoevsky the Underground remains a “dark corner” behind which there is a “big world”, while for Beckett it fi the whole world.

Abstract:
This article presents a conceptualization of the main themes of Merab Mamardashvili’s philosophy: the phenomenon of thinking and consciousness, the role of philosophy in the formation of a person’s personality, the problem of “effort”, and the philosophical concept of time. The hypothesis of the article is that this issue is based on an implicit “religious soteriology”, which is manifested by Mamardashvili in his special understanding of the role and tasks of philosophy in culture. In this context, the traditional themes of Mamardashvili’s work receive a new, original reading. The topic of “effort” is approaching the understanding of faith as a religious act, and philosophy itself becomes a secular version of the Christian religion, called upon through thinking to realize the “salvation” of man and the highest justification of culture. This view also makes it possible to explain Mamardashvili’s rejection of any “national” traditions of philosophizing, since, apparently, in his criticism of nationalism he relies precisely on Christian ideas about the unity of Christian humanity and European culture. Attention to these aspects of Mamardashvili’s philosophy clarifies and gives additional meaning to many of the classic plots of his philosophy and allows redefining the basic concepts anew.

Abstract:
Motives of social media usage vary and mostly depend on users’ background, interests, profession, and lifestyle. While the usage of social media has grown rapidly, it has caused numerous concerns. The literature on the motivations for women to use social media is edifying, but the results may not reveal the holistic continuum of social media usage motives among Malaysian housewives due to several distinctive and dynamic circumstances of this marginalised group. This study delves into housewives’ motives for social media usage and its effects on their well-being and flourishing based on the uses and gratification theory. Five motives have been proposed, namely escapism, information seeking, friendship maintenance, relationship initiation, and nostalgia, which were then tested for well-being and flourishing. In Study 1, a total of 268 housewives in Malaysia, who are active users of social media in their daily lives were involved in the survey. Data were analysed using SPSS v.23 and Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM) using SmartPLS 3.1 applications. Meanwhile Study 2 was conducted by using focus group discussions with ten housewives. The findings of Study 1 revealed that motives of social media usage among housewives have a significant and positive impact on both well-being and flourishing. In contrast, Study 2 found five themes that emerged from the thematic analysis, strengthening relationships, emotional support, encouraging thoughts and characters, side income and support system, and acknowledgement of enrichment. This study provides insight into social media usage motives on women’s well-being and flourishing. Keywords: Motives, social media, well-being, flourishing, housewives.

Abstract:
Corporate divestiture represents an important component of a firm’s strategy. Divestment takes different forms and is usually undertaken for a variety of general and firm-specific reasons. The objective of this article is to provide an overview and assessment of the current consensus on the empirical evidence on underlying divestiture motives. What is the direction of the literature on the antecedents of divestment? Are there important lessons to be learned from dominant and underexplored themes? We embark on the answers to these questions by analysing the existing empirical literature and providing an informative and instructive synopsis. Our synopsis contributes to the literature by integrating antecedents of divestiture from the multiple strands and synthesizing potentially rich areas of further exploration in the literature. Performance remains the dominant factor in divestiture but there is strong evidence that divestment is the result of a multitude of interacting dynamics among various factors. There remain considerable opportunities in the literature on the economics of divestiture, emerging environmental, social and governance (ESG) and its theoretical underpinnings and the general divestment theory. Malykh, Viacheslav. "“How terrible everything is!” The idea of reincarnation in N. Gumilyov’s and A. Blok’s literary interpretation." St. Tikhons' University Review. Series III. Philology 75 (June 30, 2023): 29–42. http://dx.doi.org/10.15382/sturiii202375.29-42.

Abstract:
The idea of Reincarnation is analyzed as a core motive, by the example of which the similarities and differences of poetic universes of Blok and Gumilyov are interpreted. Gumilyov’s opposition to Blok can be characterized as “fear of influence”, since a lot of Gumilyov’s themes, externally opposed to Blok, turn out to be internally connected with the work of the latter, and even in Gumilyov’s later works reminiscences from Blok’s poetry could be found. These reminiscences are placed in a new context and thus they acquired a different meaning. Blok represents the idea of reincarnation in a pessimistic vein, intertwining with elements of Christian eschatology, Platonism and the teaching of Vl. Solovyov. Blok’s heroes are immersed in the “elements” of time and space, they experience influences from multiple worlds and do not have the ability and desire to escape from the infinity of rebirths. Blok’s and Gumilyov’s initial understanding of metempsychosis and anamnesis reveals striking similarities. Like Blok’s hero, Gumilyov’s hero “wanders” “in the blind transitions of spaces and times”. Even Gumilyov’s understanding of the metaphysics of history is close to Blok. The difference between two poets is the hero’s attitude to the tragedy of eternal repetitions. In accordance with “manly” attitude, Gumilyov’s hero promotes an active attitude to his own destiny and hopes for a final “awakening”, which is a way out of the circle of reincarnations. Combining themes of metempsychosis and anamnesis with Christian motives, Gumilev, unlike Blok, gradually strengthens the latter, introducing into his texts the Christian concept of the Resurrection from the dead, which contradicts with the doctrine of reincarnation. Gumilyov’s reflections on metempsychosis and Resurrection lead to the religious and philosophical dialogism of his later works such as “The Lost Tram” and “The Memory”. In both texts, the apocalyptic image of Christ is encrypted, and this image is opposed to “Isus” from Blok’s poem “The Twelve”. The strengthening of Christian motives in Gumilyov’s work also leads to a disagreement with Blok in understanding of the Platonic dual world, which was transformed by Blok into the concept of multiple “worlds of art”; Gumilyov, on the other hand, reinterprets the dual world in the context of the doctrine of “two cities”, so at the end of his career Gumilyov gives preference to the Christian mystical tradition.

Abstract:
The object of this study is the Kumyk literature of the Middle Ages, which, along with the enlightenment, is dominated by the ideas of religious unity. As a result of the adoption of Islam by the peoples of Dagestan, including the Kumyks, their written literature, which was based on the Koran, acquires a pronounced general Muslim character. The spiritual literature of the Kumyks had the forms of religiouspreachings, reflections, philosophizing and instructions, which are popularly known as "Turki". The concept of "Turki", which includes numerous spiritual poems of various contents and forms, is a single system of genres, namely religious poems. The authors of this study also revealed that along with the strengthening of the position of Islam in Dagestan in the XVI century, religious themes were increasingly introduced into literature, occupying an important place in the works of Kumyk poets and theologians. The authors of the article consider the koranic motifs in the spiritual literature of the Kumyks in the works included in the collection "Majmu ul-manzumat al-ajamiya". The eschatological motives in this work can be divided into two parts: edifying, prescribing how to behave, and descriptive - a description of the horrors that await people in the event of non-compliance with these instructions.

Abstract:
The paper highlights the history of emergence and development of Christian motives in Soviet cinema, from the times of persecution against the Church in 1920–1930 up to the era of Perestroika. There is a difference in the perception of Christianity as the basis of traditional ethno-cultural identity and as the basis of universal moral values, which in both cases contributed to the gradual legitimization of Christian subjects in Soviet culture in spite of the multilevel system of ideological censorship. This paper analyzes the deep ideological trends in the evolution of Soviet culture, which allowed, on the one hand, the atheistic authorities themselves and, on the other hand, the experimenting filmmakers to address the topic of religion in general, Christianity in particular and specifically the Russian Orthodox Church in different ways in different periods of Soviet history. The illustrative examples of using various Christian symbols, Biblical quotations, events of religious history, the representation of the image of a Christian priest and a believer as such in Soviet films, as well as the increasingly noticeable appeal of Soviet filmmakers to Christian associations and allusions are also shown here. The author pays special attention to contradictory ideological trends during the three basic periods of Soviet history in the second half of the twentieth century: The Khrushchev Thaw, the Era of Stagnation and Perestroika. All three contributed to the legitimization of religious themes in Soviet cinema and determined the specifics of the attitude to religion in the late Soviet period. The films by such directors as Mikhail Romm, Marlen Khutsiev, Andrei Tarkovsky, Michael Kalik, Andrei Konchalovsky, Nikita Mikhalkov, Gleb Panfilov and others are considered in the paper as the most significant precedents. Hypotheses are put forward about further ideological strategies of the Soviet state regarding Orthodox Christianity, if the Communist Party had been able to retain its power.
