Abstract:
Abstract A new class of immunoglobulin (IgX) has been found in the South African frog, Xenopus laevis, and other related species. IgX can be immunoprecipitated by monoclonal antibodies directed against determinants found on Xenopus light chain, or on variable regions of heavy chains. Reagents specific for the heavy chain of IgM or the amphibian IgG equivalent, IgY, failed to react with IgX. IgX, which exists in serum as a polymer, is composed of subunits of disulfide-bonded heavy chains of 80,000 daltons and light chains of 25,000 to 29,000 daltons. Like mu, the heavy chain of IgX carries a large amount of asparagine-linked carbohydrate, but the partial peptide maps of the two are different. Although the concentration of IgX varies greatly in the serum of individual frogs, it is always secreted in cultures of cells from the spleen and intestinal mucosae.

Abstract:
In this paper we consider some of the ways that the third age can be thought about and studied. Taking the work of Peter Laslett as our key source, we explore his ‘aspirational’ approach toward redefining post-working life and look at some of its limitations as both definition and explanation. There is a need for a more sociologically informed approach to the third age, and we outline three potentially important structures that might better explain it – class, birth cohort, and generation. Whilst it might seem attractive to see the third age as a class-determined status, based on the material and social advantages accruing to people who have retired from well-paid positions in society, the historical period in which the third age has emerged makes this explanation less than adequate. Equally a cohort-based explanation, locating the third age in the ‘ageing’ of the birth cohort known as the baby boom generation, fails fully to capture the pervasiveness and irreversibility of the cultural change that has shaped not just one but a sequence of cohorts beginning with those born in the years just before World War II. Instead, we argue for a generational framework in understanding the third age, drawing upon Mannheim rather than Marx as the more promising guide in this area.

Abstract:
Researchers have long debated whether entrepreneurship policy should focus on place or people. In this paper, we extend the place-based versus people-based theories using contemporaneous and geographically granular web-user online activity data to predict a region’s proclivity for entrepreneurship. We compare two theoretical hypotheses: the urban third places—informal gathering locations—that facilitate social interaction and entrepreneurship, in contrast to the creative class which fosters entrepreneurial energy and opportunity in a region. Specifically, we assess whether business formation has a stronger statistical relationship with the browsing behavior of individuals visiting websites associated with third place locations—e.g., restaurants or bars—or the concentration of web browsing behavior associated with “the creative class”. Using U.S. county-level data, we find that both urban third places and the creative class can predict about 70% of the variations in regional business formation, with the creative class having a slight competitive edge.

Abstract:
AbstractChinburg's third invariant Ω(N/K, 3) ∊ C1(Z[Γ]) of a Galois extension N/K of number fields with group Γ is closely related to the Galois structure of unit groups and ideal class groups, and deep unsolved problems such as Stark's conjecture. We give a formula for Ω(N/K, 3) modulo D(ZΓ) in the factorisability defect class group, reminiscent of analytic class number formulas. Specialising to the case of an absolutely abelian, real field N, we give a natural conjecture in terms of Hecke factorisations which implies the vanishing of the invariant in the defect class group. We prove this conjecture when N has prime-power conductor using Euler systems of cyclotomic units, Ramachandra units and Hecke factorisation. This supports a general conjecture of Chinburg, which in our situation specialises to the statement that Ω(N/K, 3) = 0 for such extensions. We also develop a slightly extended version of Euler systems of units for general abelian extensions, which will be applied to abelian extensions of imaginary quadratic fields elsewhere

We present some new results on third Engel groups which are motivated by computer calculations but are not dependent on them. They include:• for n > 2 every n-generator third Engel group is nilpotent of class at most 2n – 1;• the fifth term of the lower central series of a third Engel group has exponent dividing 20;• the subgroup generated by fifth powers of elements in a third Engel group is nearly centre-by-metabeliami;and a normal form theorem for freest third Engel groups without elements of order 2.

Abstract:
UDC 517.9 One-dimensional mixed problem for one class of third order partial differential equation with nonlinear right-hand side is considered. The concept of generalized solution for this problem is introduced. By the Fourier method, the problem of existence and uniqueness of generalized solution for this problem is reduced to the problem of solvability of the countable system of nonlinear integro-differential equations. Using Bellman's inequality, the uniqueness of generalized solution is proved. Under some conditions on initial functions and the right-hand side of the equation, the existence theorem for the generalized solution is proved using the method of successive approximations.

This paper discusses the approximation of weak solutions for a class of incompressible third grade fluids equations. We first introduce a family of perturbed slightly compressible third grade fluids equations (depending on a positive parameterϵ) which approximate the incompressible equations asϵ→0+. Then we prove the existence and uniqueness of weak solutions for the slightly compressible equations and establish that the solutions of the slightly compressible equations converge to the solutions of the incompressible equations.

This affects the ability of students to think critically to solve material problems of change of form. This study aims to develop an inquiry-based e-module of transformation for grade 3 elementary school students. The subjects of the study were 10 grade 3 elementary school students. Development research methods using 4D models include Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate. Intrument used in this study is questionnaire sheets. The data analysis used quantitative and qualitative techniques through media and material expert validators and teacher and student response questionnaires. The results showed that the inquiry-based phase change e-module was declared feasible or valid with an average score of 94.16% (Media Expert) and 82.36% (Material Expert). The use of e-modules through a questionnaire response of 92.75% of teachers and 84.79% of students was efficient. Therefore, it influences students' understanding of phase change material with an average value of 81.
