Abstract:
AbstractThis article compares the epistemic roles of theoretical models and model organisms in science, and specifically the role of non-human animal models in biomedicine. Much of the previous literature on this topic shares an assumption that animal models and theoretical models have a broadly similar epistemic role—that of indirect representation of a target through the study of a surrogate system. Recently, Levy and Currie (2015) have argued that model organism research and theoretical modelling differ in the justification of model-to-target inferences, such that a unified account based on the widely accepted idea of modelling as indirect representation does not similarly apply to both. I defend a similar conclusion, but argue that the distinction between animal models and theoretical models does not always track a difference in the justification of model-to-target inferences. Case studies of the use of animal models in biomedicine are presented to illustrate this. However, Levy and Currie’s point can be argued for in a different way. I argue for the following distinction. Model organisms (and other concrete models) function as surrogate sources of evidence, from which results are transferred to their targets by empirical extrapolation. By contrast, theoretical modelling does not involve such an inductive step. Rather, theoretical models are used for drawing conclusions from what is already known or assumed about the target system. Codifying assumptions about the causal structure of the target in external representational media (e.g. equations, graphs) allows one to apply explicit inferential rules to reach conclusions that could not be reached with unaided cognition alone (cf. Kuorikoski and Ylikoski 2015).

Abstract:
A theoretical model of the formation of gravity and such dialectical categories as time, speed of light and intranuclear superdense matter, directly related to it, are presented. Categories are forms of knowledge reflection about the universal laws of the objective world, its unity, interaction and development of its components. Gravity is the main creative derivative of the potential energy of the Universe. This is a product of the process of interference of quantum wave fluctuations of potential energy and coherent wave oscillations of the quark-gluon energy mechanism of atomic nuclei. The consequence of the most complex microwave interaction between the potential energy consumed by nuclei and the internal energy of atomic nuclei are ultrashort waves, representing electromagnetic γ-radiation (γ-quantum, photon, corpuscle). In areas of increased concentration of wave energy, when the anomalous threshold oscillation frequency of 734 Hz is reached, the interaction of locally manifested wave processes of quantum fluctuation and interference can form elementary particles with a dense mass, increased energy charge and other characteristics characteristic of baryonic matter. The frequency of 734 Hz, indistinguishable by man, corresponds to the time interval of 0.00136 seconds and the supposed boundary of the pulsating material Universe. Electromagnetic and gravitational radiations are actively formed on it, entropy and products of other energy processes corresponding to the bifurcation boundary of evolution decrease or increase. The relevance of the research lies in the expediency of systematics, structuring, systematization of fundamental knowledge about matter, its "origins" to clarify the methodological principles and the significance of the "original" energy evolution in natural science. The object of the research is gravity - one of the most important methodological categories in the form of fundamental time. The subject of the research is the fundamental properties of gravity, which ensure the existence and evolution of the matter of the Metagalaxy. The purpose of the research is virtual forms of the existence and evolution of gravity, and the main task to be solved is to clarify the significance of the wave quantum fluctuation of energy. The methodological tool for solving the problem is the numerous fundamental structural levels of the organization of the matter of the Universe, indicating its polygenic energy essence and evolutionary nature. The concept of a system of scientifically based, interconnected and logically linked scientific views based on many years of experience in small-medium-scale predictive studies in the oldest mining region of Russia - Eastern Transbaikalia. Encyclopedic natural-science knowledge of the matter of the Universe, fundamental hierarchical structures of its matter, cause-and-effect relationships of the functioning of energy systems, theoretical and practical models of the Earth's matter, as well as knowledge of the objective perception of the world, its laws and phenomena by collecting, computer processing of empirical data to solve the problem are used. . It is taken into account that dialectical materialism beyond the "visibility" (length) of light (optical) and electron waves is gradually being replaced by theoretical (philosophical) materialism based on the laws of logic and fractal. Gravity combines space and time into a single energy category called the Universe

Abstract:
Given the global climate emergency and the complex financing problems facing developing countries, some economists are advocating the introduction of payments for environmental services. The question is whether payments for environmental services will enable developing countries to make the ecological transition compatible with the economic growth they need to develop. This study presents a theoretical analysis of the economic and ecological efficiency of such a mechanism, and aims to determine whether it has any recessionary or disincentive effects. In other words, it determines whether, from a theoretical point of view, the environmental services provided by developing countries are compatible with continued growth. The study introduces a “payments for environmental services” procedure into a general equilibrium model (with involuntary unemployment) composed of multinational firms in developed and developing economies. This theoretical model yields the following results. Firstly, higher ecological taxes can directly increase environmental services without any recessionary effect. The system of payments for environmental services means that green investment is not necessarily incompatible with growth and development in developing countries. On the other hand, services in return for environmental payments can lead to a rebound effect from polluting activities, which is why such programs need to be accompanied by more radical environmental policies. In conclusion, while payments for environmental services can promote both ecological transition and growth in developing countries, it is necessary to control the rebound effect arising from the development of economic activity.

Abstract:
The article examines how the correct use of management decision-making tools helps enterprises achieve their short- and long-term goals. This will allow managers to make balanced decisions that will primarily benefit the enterprise or organization. It will also allow a comprehensive approach to solving the problems that arise in their activities. It has been established that the management decision support system is a multifunctional tool that requires detailed analysis in high-quality journals. The history of the management decision support system was analyzed. It was found that the vast majority of domestic scientists research applied aspects of developments in the field of management decision support systems. And the first scientific works were based on experimental research. It is noted that the first experimental studies were based on creating a decision-making environment. The need to introduce a management decision support system into the activities of institutions and organizations has been revealed. A process model of the theoretical foundations of the management decision support system and strategies for improving the research of the management decision support system are proposed. Its main components are described, and the main implementation problems are identified. It has been established that any constructed model or process model of management decision support system theoretical foundations contains appropriate components that must be applied comprehensively. These components have their own characteristics and are used in different situations. For their application, it is necessary to implement actions of a different nature. First of all, it is obtaining timely, complete, and high-quality information through the interaction of the software complex with available management information. A management decision support system requires a significant number of experts in the chosen field of knowledge who can manage data and process it in large quantities. Accordingly, the more complete the information, the greater the chance of making the right management decision, which can affect the further activities of the enterprise or organization.

Abstract:
Inside organizations (enterprise, administration, etc.), operation/management and decision-making activities use dependently different types of information. The organization-information interactions are generally divided into five main operations (storage, manipulation, security, communication, and management) and employ IS (information system) and/or ICTs (information and communication technologies) that represent the major uses of new technologies (NT) inside organizations. Technically, the modernization of information exploitation inside organizations, through NT, is still an interesting research topic where questions mainly concern the concepts such as information, data, IS, and ICTs themselves (definitions, mutual relations, locations, etc.). This paper presents an extension of the basic theoretical model NT-ODP which illustrated the possible relations which could occur inside organizations, between new technologies (NT) tools and the organizations digital patrimony (ODP). By modifying the way in which the fundamental aspects of the basic model are applied, this new extension aims to illustrate the accurate manner in which to organize the different departments of an organization in order to be able to profit effectively from the organization digital patrimony.

Abstract:
This paper constructs a theoretical model of social impact as it applies to civil society organisations. It does so by drawing on the recent literature on the topic as well as recently completed empirical studies. First, the relationship between impact and evaluation is examined. This is followed by an exploration of the capitals, notably social, human, and cultural capital and their interrelationships, as a theoretical base for the explication of social impact. A formal model of social impact is then identified together with a set of basic principles that may be said to define social impact. Finally the implications of the model are discussed for social policy and organisational management.

The dynamics of nearshore circulations is investigated using mass, momentum and energy conservation equations with bottom friction, lateral mixing and wave-current interaction. By means of introducing a perturbation expansion for the mean variables, the first-order solutions are found in the surf and offshore zones according to the boundary conditions at the coast. It is found that:(l) The rip velocity attains a maximum value in the offshore region near the break point as Yr* becomes larger. (2) The longshore velocities become higher in the surf zone and lower in the offshore region with increasing Yr*. (3) The rip and longshore velocities in the surf zone become relatively smaller due to the effects of the bottom friction, and that the rip and longshore velocities in the surf zone become smaller due to the wave-current interaction.

We study the application and convergence of the continuum approximation to discret composite as a function of the number of Fourier components. A discret model composite with alternating parallel slabs of different constituents and exact solution is considered. The direct method of solving the related eigensystem problem is used to calculate the sound velocity. We show that rather accurate results can be obtained from the continuum approximation with only a small number of Fourier components. The dependence on the number of components is consistent with a power law. Our model results also confirm recent arguments that the sound velocity is independent of density modulations.

Abstract:
Autism is a mental disorder characterized by deficits in socialization, communication, and imagination. Along with the deficits, autistic children may show savant skills (“islets of ability”) of unknown origin that puzzles their families and the psychologists. Comorbidity with epilepsy and mental retardation has brought the researchers' attention to neurobiological and cognitive theories of the syndrome. The present article proposes a neurobiological model for the autism based on the fundamental biological process of neuronal competition. A neural network capable of defining neural maps—synaptic projections preserving neighborhoods between two neural tissues—simulates the process of neurodevelopment. Experiments were performed reducing the level of neural growth factor released by the neurons, leading to ill-developed maps and suggesting the cause of the aberrant neurogenesis present in autism. The computer simulations hint that brain regions responsible for the formation of higher level representations are impaired in autistic patients. The lack of this integrated representation of the world would result in the peculiar cognitive deficits of socialization, communication, and imagination and could also explain some “islets of abilities”, like excellent memory for raw data and stimuli discrimination. The neuronal model is based on plausible biological findings and on recently developed cognitive theories of autism. Close relations are established between the computational properties of the neural network model and the cognitive theory of autism denominated “weak central coherence”, bringing some insight to the understanding of the disorder.

Abstract:
The study aimed to develop a theoretical model for training needs analysis that includes the levels, steps, requirements and tools of the analysis, ensuring that the training is integrated with the organization's needs and its strategic objectives. To develop that model, the theoretical framework and previous studies have been reviewed and found that it emphasize on the importance of integration between the training need analysis and the organization's strategy through analysis at three levels: strategic, functional and individual analysis. Many training needs analysis models have emerged to assist organizations in analyzing the training need, but they have been criticized for not integrating the training need analysis with the organization's strategy. A number of studies have also found that the practice of training needs analysis in organizations faces a number of challenges, the most important of which is that the analysis of training need does not take into account the organization's strategy. To overcome the criticism and challenges that face training needs analysis in the organization, a theoretical model of five levels has been developed to analyze the training need, and each level includes a number of steps so that each step focuses on one of the other stages of the training phases, namely training solutions, implementation and impact measurement. A number of requirements suggested supporting the implementation of the model. The study recommended that the model should be applied at all levels, steps and requirements to organizations to ensure that training is integrated with its strategy.

Abstract:
The paper is purposively designed to study the linkages between organizational factors, including liquidity, leverage, asset utilization, market share position and firm size on financial performance in service firms. In assessing the linkages, the study recruits return on assets (ROA) and return on equity (ROE) as dependent variables to assess financial performance derived from the existence of the stated organizational factors. The aspect of financial performance in service firms is an important one as it reflects the effectiveness of the management. Additionally, the growth of productivity in service firms is traditionally low compared to the manufacturing firms; hence, the organization of factors in manufacturing firms has been quite documented in the literature to be linked with financial performance. This provokes the question of whether management practices and organizational factors that have enhanced financial performance in manufacturing firms can also be accounted for the service firms. The financial performance of the company is essential to measure management as the individuals and groups within the organization that contributes towards the financial objectives of the company. The proposed research framework can be of practical value for the firms. Managers can benefit from the outcomes of the paper by having a clear picture of organizational factors and conducting necessary research in order to find out the true nature of these factors.

Abstract:
This paper presents a systematically derived theoretical model for the motion of tracked vehicles, encompassing various scenarios such as soft terrain and slopes. The model considers all the resistances encountered by tracked vehicles, including track-terrain interaction, grade and air resistance, centrifugal force, inertial forces, and turning resistance. The heading angle determines the geometrical orientation of the vehicle on the slope. A MATLAB model of tracked vehicle general motion was established based on theoretical discussions. The paper discusses the steering performance of tracked vehicles on slopes of different inclinations. A simulation of steering with different turning radiuses was also presented. It is shown that the proposed model can be used for predicting and evaluating the steering performance of tracked vehicles with adequate accuracy. Furthermore, due to its high computational efficiency, the proposed model can be utilized for power demand modeling in research on the hybridization or electrification of tracked vehicles.

Abstract:
In the light of the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation “On the strategy of the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation...” an increase in the volume of ship traffic along the Northern Sea Route is expected. With the increase of ship traffic the absolute number of cases when it is necessary to render the first aid to injured ship crew members will also increase. According to the Russian legislation, ship's crew medical officer is not to be provided if total number of people on the vessel is less than 40 people. At the same time the evacuation arm over considerable length of the Northern Sea Route is from several hundreds to thousands kilometers and weather conditions in those latitudes are harsh and changeable for the most part of the year. In such circumstances quick evacuation of a casualty to a specialized institution by air ambulance or ground transport and timely arrival of a trained and properly equipped medical crew to a ship are extremely difficult. Besides, the actual volume of the medical aid which the injured on the ship can need goes far beyond the concept “first aid” and includes both the procedures and manipulations, related to the concepts of “emergency” and (or) “prehospital care” and medical care. According to the international normative-legal acts, the function of first aid rendering to victims on a ship of civil fleet within the framework of a ship role is entrusted to a crew member who has no profile medical education, but who passed and successfully passed qualification examinations on the course of rendering aid and medical care to victims on the ship. It is known that passing the qualification exam by specialty and putting the obtained knowledge and skills into practice in conditions of emergency on a vessel are characterized by different context and require different competences, personal qualities and skills from a person. Up to the present time the Russian Federation has not developed a professiogram – a reference point for assessing the degree of expressed properties and qualities in applicants for maritime specialties. The article touches upon the problem of semantic content of the notion “ship's paramedic” and offers a theoretical model of its psihogram.
