Abstract:
A technical implementation unit of the Ministry of Social Affairs' Directorate General for Social Rehabilitation, Sentra Wyata Guna Bandung is involved in the social sector, which includes disaster response and other humanitarian efforts in various parts of Indonesia. A cash disbursement system is one of Sentra Wyata Guna Bandung's accounting methods. Where in this company's cash disbursement system does it meet the head office's operational requirements? The activities of officers on business trips or assignments as duty obligations at the Wyata Guna Sentra take place outside of the area where work operations are carried out. It is possible to say that business travel activities occur quite frequently, which results in frequent cash transfers for business travel expenses. One fact emerged from the study's findings: the manual nature of the cash disbursement report processing meant that official travel cash disbursement reports were susceptible to loss and error. calculation: the goal of this research for the final project is to learn about the use of a cash disbursement accounting system for official travel expenses and to learn about reports of cash disbursements on web-based computerized business trips.

Abstract:
Café more is a business project of the Indonesian Ministry of Social Affairs through the Center for Social Rehabilitation of Persons with Sensory Disabilities Netra Wyata Guna Bandung. The author's purpose of conducting this research is to compile a management design for sales accounting information system using Microsoft Visual Studio 2019 and database MySQL. In this study, the authors use qualitative methods with interview data collection methods, literature study data or observation. And also the system development method used is the prototype. From the results of this study, a problem was found, namely the processing of cafe more sales data reports is still manual so that sales reports are still irregular and prone to errors in making the report and the information presented is less accurate. With this sales information system management design, the author hopes to simplify the work of employees in managing sales data and sales reports quickly and accurately.

Abstract:
Visual Science at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NUST) includes activities in visual psychophysics and electrophysiology, clinical tests of vision, and low vision. In recent years the Tambartun National Resource Centre for the Visually Impaired, in cooperation with NUST, has been encouraging applied projects aimed at improving the quality of life of people with low vision. One such project, headed by Per Fosse, is devoted to the study of the visual capacity of elderly with age-related macular degeneration. Systematic assessments are made of acuity, contrast sensitivity (CS), colour vision, visual field, dark adaptation, and optimal illumination levels for reading and orientation. We report on some preliminary results for ten clients, which is about half the number of anticipated participants in the project. The differences in performance of the individuals that we have seen so far are large, particularly concerning their lighting requirements. Some clients preferred a relatively restricted optimum range of illumination, while others required very high levels. All clients profited from these extensive tests in orientation in real-life settings and in reading. Different CS tests and acuity measures have been compared in the course of the study, and some of these data are also presented.

Pierce, Jennifer, Afton L. Hassett, Rick E. Harris, Jenna Goesling, and Chad M. Brummett. "4385 The Pain and Social Experiences Project: Understanding the role of interpersonal trauma in pain." Journal of Clinical and Translational Science 4, s1 (June 2020): 113. http://dx.doi.org/10.1017/cts.2020.345.

Full text
Abstract:
OBJECTIVES/GOALS: Traumatic interpersonal experiences are associated with higher rates of chronic pain, increased pain severity and poorer functioning. The objective of this ongoing project is to obtain prevalence rates for various forms of interpersonal trauma among individuals with chronic pain, and to explore the potential mediating effect of heightened sensory and social sensitivity on the experience of pain. METHODS/STUDY POPULATION: Patients at Michigan Medicine between the ages of 18 and 65 complete an online survey. Patients are being recruited through a tertiary-care, outpatient pain clinic, as well as through an online health research portal. We aim to recruit 700 participants; we currently have 59.6% of our goal (n = 417). Participants also have the option to be included in a registry from which we can recruit for future studies. Approximately 85% of our participants have agreed to be in the registry. RESULTS/ANTICIPATED RESULTS: Preliminary data show that, of the 263 (63.4%) participants for whom data on chronic pain is available, 167 (63.5%) report chronic or persistent pain over the previous 3 months. Of these, 54% reported some form of childhood abuse or neglect. Approximately 41% reported four or more adverse childhood experiences. Additionally, of the 122 participants (73%) who were in a current romantic relationship, 20% reported some form of physical violence victimization from their romantic partner. We anticipate that interpersonal trauma will be associated with poorer perceptions of social relationships, higher sensory sensitivity, and higher perceived stress. DISCUSSION/SIGNIFICANCE OF IMPACT: The PASE Project parent study will be used to better understand prevalence rates for various forms of interpersonal trauma in our chronic pain population. Future analyses and studies will explore alternative pathways linking interpersonal trauma to the experience of pain through sensory and social sensitivity, which will inform interventions aimed at reducing pain among patients with a history of trauma.

Abstract:
This work was commissioned by a charity, the Physical Disability and Sensory Impairment Forum, owing to local parental concerns relating to the assessment for and provision of mobility equipment. The project was set up as a preliminary investigation to consider those concerns. A literature review was carried out in order to establish current practice in the National Health Service wheelchair service in England, the role of the wheelchair in children's mobility, the wheelchair and seating needs of children and the met and unmet need. A questionnaire was distributed to children and their parents to gain their views. The response rate was disappointingly poor and, therefore, the results are not presented. However, the full report is available from the author.

Abstract:
BackgroundGlaucoma is the foremost cause of irreversible blindness, and more than 50% of cases remain undiagnosed. Our objective was to report the costs of a glaucoma detection programme operationalised through Philadelphia community centres.MethodsThe analysis was performed using a healthcare system perspective in 2013 US dollars. Costs of examination and educational workshops were captured. Measures were total programme costs, cost/case of glaucoma detected and cost/case of any ocular disease detected (including glaucoma). Diagnoses are reported at the individual level (therefore representing a diagnosis made in one or both eyes). Staff time was captured during site visits to 15 of 43 sites and included time to deliver examinations and workshops, supervision, training and travel. Staff time was converted to costs by applying wage and fringe benefit costs from the US Bureau of Labor Statistics. Non-staff costs (equipment and mileage) were collected using study logs. Participants with previously diagnosed glaucoma were excluded.Results1649 participants were examined. Mean total per-participant examination time was 56 min (SD 4). Mean total examination cost/participant was $139. The cost/case of glaucoma newly identified (open-angle glaucoma, angle-closure glaucoma, glaucoma suspect, or primary angle closure) was $420 and cost/case for any ocular disease identified was $273.ConclusionGlaucoma examinations delivered through this programme provided significant health benefit to hard-to-reach communities. On a per-person basis, examinations were fairly low cost, though opportunities exist to improve efficiency. Findings serve as an important benchmark for planning future community-based glaucoma examination programmes.

Abstract:
AbstractIn the avian brain, the optokinetic response is controlled by two retinal-recipient nuclei: the nucleus of the basal optic root (nBOR) of the accessory optic system and the pretectal nucleus lentiformis mesencephali (LM). Although considered sister nuclei because of their similar response properties and function, there are both similarities and differences with respect to efferent projections and neurochemistry. Both nBOR and LM project to the cerebellum (Cb) directly as mossy fibers but also indirectly via the inferior olive (IO). In a previous report, we showed that the cerebellar- and inferior olivary-projecting neurons in nBOR of pigeons differentially express the calcium-binding proteins calretinin (CR) and parvalbumin (PV). Both CR and PV are expressed in the somata of LM neurons, although the latter is not as prevalent, and whether expression of CR and PV reflects cerebellar and IO projections is not known. In this report, by combining retrograde neuronal tracing from the Cb and IO with fluorescent immunohistochemistry, we examined the expression of these calcium-binding proteins in the pigeon LM. Half (52%) of the cerebellar-projecting neurons were CR+ve, but only 15% were PV+ve. Almost all (>95%) these PV+ve cells also expressed CR. In contrast, few of the IO-projecting neurons expressed CR or PV (≤5%). This is strikingly similar to what we observed in nBOR and reveals that calcium-binding protein expression is concordant with projection patterns in two nuclei that share similar functions.

Abstract:
There are different ways to store and process large amount of data. Hadoop iswidely used, one of the most popular platforms to store huge amount of dataand process them in parallel. While storing sensitive data, security plays animportant role to keep it safe. Security was not that much considered whenHadoop was initially designed. The initial use of Hadoop was managing largeamount of public web data so confidentiality of the stored data was not anissue. Initially users and services in Hadoop were not authenticated; Hadoop isdesigned to run code on a distributed cluster of machines so without properauthentication anyone could submit code and it would be executed. Differentprojects have started to improve the security of Hadoop. Two of these projectsare called project Rhino and Project Sentry [1].Project Rhino implements splittable crypto codec to provide encryptionfor the data that is stored in Hadoop distributed file system. It also developsthe centralized authentication by implementing Hadoop single sign on whichprevents repeated authentication of the users accessing the same services manytimes. From the authorization point of view Project Rhino provides cell-basedauthorization for Hbase [2].Project Sentry provides fine-grained access control by supporting role-basedauthorization which different services can be bound to it to provide authorizationfor their users [3].It is possible to combine security enhancements which have been done inthe Project Rhino and Project Sentry to further improve the performance andprovide better mechanisms to secure Hadoop. In this thesis, the security of the system in Hadoop version 1 and Hadoopversion 2 is evaluated and different security enhancements are proposed, consideringsecurity improvements made by the two aforementioned projects, ProjectRhino and Project Sentry, in terms of encryption, authentication, and authorization. This thesis suggests some high-level security improvements on theCentralized authentication system (Hadoop Single Sign on) implementationmade by Project Rhino.

Abstract:

For this MFA exhibition, I created an illustrated book, which I had professionally printed and bound. I made thirty-five illustrations for the book, and twenty-five were exhibited in the gallery in addition to a printed book. The book is eight inches by eight inches. My original illustrations are larger, ranging from twelve by twelve inches to twelve by twenty-four inches, which sit across one entire spread in the book.

Banciao is a district in Taipei, Taiwan where I lived for four years during my undergraduate studies. The narrative is based on my experiences living away from home for the first time in an unfamiliar city. After having lived in different areas, I became interested in how people react and adapt to new environments. Our viewpoints change when we experience different cultures. For me, it is one of the most profound things that I have done in my life.

Abstract:

This group of paintings was informed by an investigation of the complex linear matrix of wires within telecommunications networks and data centers. As most of these processes are automated, I took interest in how they continue operating without our knowledge or attention, much like the functions of our own human bodies. I began to regard this wiring as the nervous system of our technologically driven modes of communication. With this as a metaphor, I began to question how the greater system of daily operations played into contemporary life, both physically and psychologically.

Often, it is not until we encounter a glitch or malfunction in these processes, that we even become aware of the system that generated them. I decided to take these faults in the wiring as visual metaphors and departure points to begin the intuitive process of painting. While my work has been instigated by a metaphorical investigation into technology, its core reflects the handmade; intuitive, and off-line. These paintings have evolved from an abstract relationship with technological transmission to an embodied metaphor for technology within human experience.

Abstract:

My work is inspired by modes of production that involve the creation, sampling, and remixing of objects, processes, and ideas that surround us. This methodology is especially prevalent in the creation and consumption of electronic music in recent decades. The fluidity and proliferation through digital processes are fascinating and not many rules of engagement have yet been established. I have created an installation where the viewer is free to engage the space, the process, or the single object. The components used to form the installation were grown, collected, or created using multiple methods of production. Some were printed employing computer numerically controlled fabrication, others were made through analog processes, and some were even grown naturally, were found, bought, or mined for. Concurrently I was working with an active 3D printer in the space, forming more components to the installation as time passed. I invited the viewer to explore the physical space as well as the objects and processes themselves. Together they built a sculptural space.

Abstract:

This paper deals with the compositional process of writing my Mass, Missa Familiae Sanctae, and covers the influences I most keenly felt in that process. Two great masterpieces of this form of liturgical music from the Twentieth Century are carefully analyzed: Stravinsky's Mass (1948) and Leonard Bernstein's Mass: A Theatre Piece for Singers, Players and Dancers (1971). This paper draws connections to the techniques used by my illustrious predecessors and my own, and talks about the centrality of the text of the Ordinary of the Mass in all three works.

This paper is composed of two parts. The first part deals with the influence of these two Masses on the composition of Missa Familiae Sanctae. Here, I discuss the features of both my predecessors' Masses that proved most salient to my processes--the most crucial feature being treatment of the text. The second part of this paper is devoted to the methods of composition I employed in the creation of Missa Familiae Sanctae. I will illustrate both connections to past practices in my processes (put in context in the foregoing part of the paper), as well as the features of my Mass I believe to be unique.

An analytical methodology was best suited to a discussion of the compositional practices applied to the pieces discussed here. For the purposes of the composition of Missa Familiae Sanctae, it had the added benefit of aiding in my effort to inform myself of past practices and, thus, enabled me to determine my own methods of composing my Mass. For the purposes of this paper, this focus on analysis was most helpful in describing the musical language of each Mass, and allowed for some meaningful comparisons between my predecessors' Masses and my own. From these analyses, I identify commonalities in harmony, derivation of melodic material, treatment of text and orchestration, as well as investigate differences between Stravinsky and Bernstein's settings of the Mass and my own as a means of explaining my unique voice as a composer.

Abstract:
Since its origin in 2005, The NOLA Project has sought to bring innovative and high caliber works of theater to New Orleans audiences. Accustomed to performing in various venues due to lack of a permanent theatre, this nonprofit theater company has taken steps to plant roots in the community in other ways, including educational outreach for youth and the development of a new membership program. The purpose of this report is to document my internship with The NOLA Project from April 2014 through April 2015 and to analyze the effectiveness of the company’s operations. My analysis is based on experiences and insights gleaned from my time spent within the organization, focusing primarily on development tasks. I will evaluate the state of the company by addressing current strengths and weaknesses, as well as identifying possible opportunities and threats. This analysis will in turn serve as the basis for recommendations pertaining to plans for the company’s growth and success through the next decade of operation.

Reports on the topic "The Sentry Project Report"

Mills, Kathy, Elizabeth Heck, Alinta Brown, Patricia Funnell, and Lesley Friend. Senses together : Multimodal literacy learning in primary education : Final project report. Institute for Learning Sciences and Teacher Education, Australian Catholic University, 2023. http://dx.doi.org/10.24268/acu.8zy8y.

Full text
Abstract:
[Executive summary] Literacy studies have traditionally focussed on the seen. The other senses are typically under-recognised in literacy studies and research, where the visual sense has been previously prioritised. However, spoken and written language, images, gestures, touch, movement, and sound are part of everyday literacy practices. Communication is no longer focussed on visual texts but is a multisensory experience. Effective communication depends then on sensory orchestration, which unifies the body and its senses. Understanding sensory orchestration is crucial to literacy learning in the 21st century where the combination of multisensory practices is both digital and multimodal. Unfortunately, while multimodal literacy has become an increasing focus in school curriculum, research has still largely remained focussed on the visual. The Sensory Orchestration for Multimodal Literacy Learning in Primary Education project, led by ARC Future Fellow Professor Kathy Mills, sought to address this research deficit. In addressing this gap, the project built an evidence base for understanding how students become critical users of sensory techniques to communicate through digital, virtual, and augmented-reality texts. The project has contributed to the development of new multimodal literacy programs and a next-generation approach to multimodality through the utilisation of innovative sensorial education programs in various educational environments including primary schools, digital labs, and art museums.

Soriano, C., and R. Rossi. D8.4 Report on dissemination activities. Scipedia, 2022. http://dx.doi.org/10.23967/exaqute.2022.3.01.

Full text
Abstract:
In Deliverable D8.1 (M18) we presented a first version of the Dissemination Plan for the ExaQUte project. The present document, prepared during the 2nd (and last) review period of the project, represents the updated version of the Dissemination Plan of ExaQUte, and therefore builds on the aforementioned deliverable. This document, thus, focuses on the new activities that have been undertaken from M18 to M42 regarding the dissemination activities. It should be mentioned that the pandemic situation that started in Mach 2020 (actually, in Spain we were sent to confine to our houses the day after the celebration of the First Review meeting of this project) has had an impact in our life, and in our project, particularly in the dissemination actions. The lockdown made impossible most of the activities related to dissemination (travels, conferences, consortium meetings…). But we reinvented our work and found different ways to do things and fulfil pour obligations. Still, in this deliverable, you will find indeed a difference between the type of action that we carried on up to M18 and our activities after M18.
