Abstract:
Personal and professional risks have been considered separately in research. However, these two concepts have not so far been investigated in research together. In this study, we first tested the importance of these two risks for Iranian accounting professionals through trade-off scenarios. The analysis of data gathered from an online survey of 487 Iranian accounting professionals shows that accounting professionals in Iran prefer to avoid personal risk rather than professional risk when facing a choice between personal and professional risk. Iranian accountants and auditors are personal risk averters and professional risk lovers, even though they think they are not risk-averse in their personal lives and not risk takers in their professional lives. Therefore, there is a gap between Iranian accounting professionals’ thoughts about their personal and professional risk aversion and their personal and professional risk aversion in practice. Furthermore, we found significant relationships between accounting professionals’ gender, religiosity, welfare, and personal risk aversion. In addition, there are significant relationships between accounting professionals’ gender and personal and professional risk aversion.

Abstract:
Improvement of society, scientific and technological progress, efficient use of limited natural resources and formation of human being as an important capital are the basis for emergence of new risks and development of existing ones. In addition, it is an ongoing process that is difficult to put into any framework. Therefore, the task of science is to analyze the nature of various risks and to develop protective mechanisms. Increasingly, new risks are being linked to human activities. The author of the article studied the history and essence of the concepts of “risk” and “professional risk”, analyzed the concepts regarding the nature of risk, and also formulat-ed the definition of “professional risk in advocacy”. Currently existing risks faced by advocates in the course of their professional activities negatively affect the quality of legal assistance, which is ultimately received by the citizens of our country. These circumstances make it necessary to study and comprehend professional risks in advocacy in order to find ways to minimize them.

Abstract:
Patient risk factors for suicide are well known to psychiatrists, yet the availability of clinically useful, routine and systematic methods for risk recognition are limited. This article outlines the structured professional judgement approach to suicide risk assessment and management. This method combines psychiatric assessment and formulation with the evidence base for suicide risk factors. Structured professional judgement is contrasted with actuarial and clinical judgement approaches. A categorisation of risk factors is presented, with four groups described – static, stable, dynamic and future. Case histories illustrate long-term high risk contrasted with sudden and unpredictable onset of suicidality.

Abstract:
This article presents a new communicative model for managing risk of suicide. The RISK framework can be used in conjunction with traditional problem focused approaches to increase the collaboration between healthcare professionals and patients when creating a safety plan.Using this model allows the healthcare professional to curiously ask how the person has kept safe for this long(Resources),how much they know already about how they have done this and what they would notice if the thoughts of attempting suicide were absent or managed(Increments).Next, the framework considers how might the resources discussed be best shared with others (e.g. professionals, family) and who or what else outside of the room might be able to help the increments(Sharing). Finally, in this framework, the professional aims to understand how all of the above ensures the individual keeps their existing expertise at the forefront of the difficulties they are experiencing(Knowledge).Inspired by the ‘GRIN Model of Hope’ (Unwin & Unwin, 2019), this framework also derives from solution focused brief therapy and positive psychology. Within this paper, we follow ‘Alan’ who has arrived at his health appointment in distress, and shares that he wants to end his life. The implications for clinical practice are discussed. The purpose of this paper is to demonstrate how solution focused risk management approaches might be better realised in any healthcare setting where risk presents.

Abstract:
ABSTRACTOver the past 50 years, self-neglect among older people has been conceptualised in both social policy and the academy as a social problem which is defined in relation to medical illness and requires professional intervention. Few authors, however, have analysed the concept of self-neglect in relation to critical sociological theory. This is problematic because professional judgements, which provide the impetus for intervention, are inherently influenced by the social and cultural context. The purpose of this article is to use critical theory as a framework for interpreting the findings from a qualitative study which explored judgements in relation to older people in situations of self-neglect made by professionals. Two types of data were collected. There were 125 hours of observations at meetings and home assessments conducted by professionals associated with the Community Options Programme in Sydney, Australia, and 18 professionals who worked with self-neglecting older people in the community gave in-depth qualitative interviews. The findings show that professional judgements of self-neglect focus on risk and capacity, and that these perceptions influence when and how interventions occur. The assumptions upon which professional judgements are based are then further analysed in relation to critical theory.

Abstract:
Research in the world, as well as in our region, consistently indicates that teachers at all levels of educational work are exposed to various stressors that are related to the characteristics of their work. One of the outcomes of long-term chronic stress at work that has not been successfully resolved is the development of burnout syndrome. The aim of this research was to examine burnout in educators and teachers at all levels of education in Sarajevo, taking into account burnout indicators - emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, sense of personal accomplishment, according to the theoretical and empirical assumptions of the author Christine Maslach. The instrument for testing burnout - Maslach Burnout Inventory (Maslach & Jackson 1986) was applied on a convenient sample of 517 professionals directly involved in the educational process in 13 institutions in Sarajevo Canton at different levels of education – from kindergarten to college. The results indicate high emotional exhaustion in all participants, regardless of age, gender, type of institution and job position. The experience of the phenomenon of depersonalization in the examined sample is not emphasized on average, which means that the teaching staff is still not alienated from their students to the extent that would indicate the development of burnout syndrome. Sense of personal accomplishment is perceived by participants on average as low, even when they achieve the highest academic titles. According to the results of this research, it seems that support in overcoming emotional exhaustion and depersonalization is especially important to provide to older teachers and to male teachers. In addition, it is desirable to provide support to older male and female teachers, who work with older and adult students, in gaining a sense of personal accomplishment. Furthermore, the results suggest that teachers, secondary school teachers and senior university assistants should first be covered by prevention activities and programs, as they are at greatest risk of burnout.

Abstract:
Abstract With a quadrupling of forensic psychiatric patients in Denmark over the past 20 years, focus on violence risk assessment practices across the country has increased. However, information is lacking regarding Danish risk assessment practice across professional disciplines and clinical settings; little is known about how violence risk assessments are conducted, which instruments are used for what purposes, and how mental health professionals rate their utility and costs. As part of a global survey exploring the application of violence risk assessment across 44 countries, the current study investigated Danish practice across several professional disciplines and settings in which forensic and high-risk mental health patients are assessed and treated. In total, 125 mental health professionals across the country completed the survey. The five instruments that respondents reported most commonly using for risk assessment, risk management planning and risk monitoring were Broset, HCR-20, the START, the PCL-R, and the PCL:SV. Whereas the HCR-20 was rated highest in usefulness for risk assessment, the START was rated most useful for risk management and risk monitoring. No significant differences in utility were observed across professional groups. Unstructured clinical judgments were reported to be faster but more expensive to conduct than using a risk assessment instrument. Implications for clinical practice are discussed.

Abstract:
Background: At present, professionals experience difficulties applying known facilitators and barriers of integrated care in practice [1]. This is particularly intricate when working with youth at-risk and their families. These families have a diversity of problems in different life-areas, that often do not seek or accept care, and with a continuing risk of crisis situations occurring. To improve integrated care for youth at-risk, we aimed at deepening insights into how to enable facilitators or overcome barriers when implementing integrated care for youth at risk. Targeted population and stakeholders: The overall study design comprises practice-based action research. The primary focus of this study is on the perspective of Youth Care professionals, policymakers and youth at-risk in the Dutch Youth Care system. This study is designed and monitored in co-creation with professionals, policymakers and youth representatives. By organizing learning sessions based on the results of the study, professionals and other stakeholders are stimulated to learn and improve the quality of care for youth at-risk. Method: For the aim of this study, we conducted 31 semi-structured interviews, observations with different stakeholders and one learning session with a youth and parent representative, professionals, and policymakers within a network of an integrated care initiative for youth at-risk. To analyse the transcripts, learning session and observation reports, we conducted a thematic analysis both deductively and inductively. Results: The implementation of integrated care for youth at risk seemed to be influenced by three underlying mechanisms: mandate, care coordination, and professional autonomy. Neither mandate, nor care coordination, nor professional autonomy was reported as lying with one person or organization and shifted between them depending on the specific case. When there was a lack of, or insufficient agreement on professional autonomy, mandate, or care coordination, it became extremely difficult for the professionals involved to provide integrated care in practice. Specifically in crisis situations, when clarity on mandate, care coordination, and professional autonomy was urgent but often lacking in practice. This led to indecisiveness and inappropriate support or no care provision at all. At the same time when these mechanisms were present: integrated care for youth at-risk was more easily realized. Conclusions: Providing integrated care for youth at-risk is a joint effort. The different organizations need to specify with every new case who is involved and what their role and responsibility is, in order to offer youth at-risk the care they need. Therefore, professionals and organizations need to realize, understand and act on the underlying mechanisms mandate, care coordination and professional autonomy when providing integrated care for youth at-risk. Future studies are needed to establish whether and if so, what, other underlying mechanisms are crucial when providing integrated care for youth at risk in practice and how these mechanisms are successfully implemented. Abstract:
Introduction. Due to the communicative requirements inherent to the profession, the legal professional benefits from speech therapy monitoring for the proper use of the voice and to avoid the occurrence of vocal disorders. The development of specific instruments will contribute with more relevant data to guide this monitoring. Objective. To verify the applicability of the General Dysphonia Risk Screening Protocol (DRSP-G) and the Specific Dysphonia Risk Screening Protocol for Legal Professionals (DRSP-LP) and to correlate the average scores of both with vocal deviation, sex, age, professional performance time, vocal signs and symptoms, and vocal self-assessment. Methods. Fifty legal professionals participated. All participants completed the DRSP-G and DRSP-LP and recorded their voices for detection of the presence of altered vocal quality. Results. Most participants presented a high risk of dysphonia, which was higher in men. Altered vocal quality was observed in 34% of the participants. The items with the highest scores in the DRSP-G were talking a lot (76%), excessive daily coffee intake (70%), contact with smokers (60%), and insufficient hydration and sleep (48%); in the DRSP-LP, alcohol consumption (68%) and exposure to air conditioning (64%).
