Abstract:
ABSTRACTIntroduction: Despite the general agreement that normal jealousy is heterogenous, little is known about this specific topic. Methods: In the present study, we explored the possibility of distinguishing between four subtypes of “normal” jealousy (depressive, anxious, obsessive, and paranoid) amongst a cohort of 500 healthy university students by means of a specifically designed questionnaire, “Questionario della gelosia” (QUEGE). QUEGE is a self-report instrument of 30 items which explores the presence, frequency, and duration of feelings and behaviors related to jealousy. It was devised to investigate four hypothetical psychopathological profiles: depressive, paranoid, obsessive, and anxious. Results: The factor analysis identified five rather than four clear-cut factors: self-esteem, paranoia, interpersonal sensitivity, fear of being abandoned, and obsessionality. Women showed statistically significant lower levels of self-esteem and higher levels of obsessionality than men. Younger age (<25 years) was associated with lower self-esteem and higher levels of paranoia and obsessionality, while being single was associated with lower self-esteem and higher levels of obsessionality. Conclusion: The present study provides evidence of the reliability and validity of the QUEGE instrument, which seems to identify the presence of five psychopathological dimensions within the jealousy phenomenon in the general population.

Abstract:
Jealousy as a mental experience has been known since ancient times. In the public consciousness and in the fields of science, jealousy is conceived as a complex phenomenon with diverse genesis and manifestations. However, the attempts to study it empirically have been sporadic. Therefore, the present study seeks to shed light on the mental phenomenon in question by tracking its age dynamics during the different periods of maturity, as well as the effect of gender. For this purpose, 119 persons (men and women) aged 20 to 60 years were examined through a self-assessment scale concerning jealousy. The results, as expected, registered declining jealousy with age providing the statistical significance of the difference. Gender, on the other hand, turned out to be a weaker factor initiating differences in the investigated dimension.

Abstract:
The article examines the phenomenon of jealousy in close (romantic) relationships of adults. The article presents the results of a study on the experience of jealousy of adult men and women in close relationships. Based on qualitative research (interviews) and quantitative data processing, the author analyzes the strength of jealousy in relationships between men and women. The negative connections of the power of jealousy with the components of psychological and subjective well-being are described. The article provides data on the specific characteristics of romantic attachment inherent in adults with a high power of jealousy in relationships: frustration, ambivalence, a tendency to “grow together” with a partner. It is described that the strength of partners' jealousy is negatively related to their satisfaction with the relationship. Sex differences in reactions to jealousy, an increase in the strength of emotional reactions to jealousy with an increase in the duration of the relationship are analyzed.

Abstract:
The purpose of the article. Theoretical analysis of the causes and manifestations of jealousy. Methodology. The basis of the study is a theoretical analysis, synthesis, generalization, systematization of available scientific literature on the subject. Results. Theoretical analysis of scientific works clarified psychological features and factors of jealousy in marital partners. Scientists identify the leading factors of jealousy of marriage partners personal characteristics, in particular: inadequate self-esteem, self-doubt, inferiority complex, as well as mental and neurotic personality disorders, abuse of alcohol, drugs, various psychoactive substances; jealousy of the traitor, which arise for self-defense; provocative games and flirting partner; negative previous experience of close relationships, in particular experiences of infidelity and marital infidelity in the relationship. Among the causes of jealousy are demographic, socio-psychological and individual-psychological one. Demographic factors are identified by age and gender. The presence of siblings, the order of birth in the family, the model of the parental family, etc. belong to the group of socio-psychological reasons. The group of individual psychological factors that influence the emergence and manifestation of jealousy is represented by the emotional sphere of personality (sentimentality, passion, affectivity, stress) and its psychological guidelines, inertia of mental processes, human self-esteem, value orientations. Practical implications. The need to study jealousy, is the importance of knowing the nature and causes of their appearance in the process of psychological counseling of spouses who are on the verge of divorce due to jealousy. Theoretical materials can be used in the training process of the courses “Psychology of personality”, “Age Psychology”, “Differential Psychology”, “Family Psychology”, “Fundamentals psychological correction”. Abstract:
Ethiopian immigrant women in Israel are overrepresented as victims of femicide; they are killed at more than 16 times the rate of the general population. This article suggests integrating current theoretical and empirical models to explain Ethiopian femicide, and stresses that considering psychological or sociocultural explanations as risk factors alone is not enough to understand this phenomenon. We distinguish between risk factors and triggers for femicide against Ethiopian women. While sociocultural and even psychological changes are risk factors for femicide, one, two, or three main triggers may activate such potential risk factors, such as the woman’s willingness (WW) to leave the intimate relationship, sexual jealousy (SJ), and formal complaints against the abusive partner. The first two triggers are jealousy oriented. To analyze this phenomenon in Israel, we examined all court decisions on intimate partner homicide (IPH) from 1990 to 2010. After reading former studies on IPH and identifying important variables that could explain the phenomenon, we first catalogued the data in every decision and verdict according to main independent variables mentioned in the literature. The study population consists of first-generation immigrants, N = 194: native Israelis (47%), new immigrants from the former Soviet Union (FSU; 31%), and Ethiopians (16%). Our analysis of court decisions reveals that triggers containing jealousy components are responsible for 83% of femicide cases committed by Ethiopian men, in comparison with native Israelis (77%) and immigrant Russian men (66%) who murdered their intimate partners. In addition, there is a significant correlation among motive (jealousy), method of killing (stabbing), and “overkilling” (excessive force).

Abstract:
The article analyzes the content and essence of the phenomenon of jealousy, the main reasons for their occurrence, the main forms of manifestation. Psychologists view jealousy as a negative experience that arises from insecurity in a situation of lack of attention, love, respect or sympathy from an important person when all this is real or imagined someone else gets. Jealousy unites a whole range of emotions, feelings, thoughts, the strongest of which are fear and anger. Modern scientific research has shown that jealousy has its own specifics at different ages - the younger a person, the more he has these experiences; jealousy acquires its scale in adolescence, which is associated with a sense of "imperfection", immaturity of young men. It is noted that people rarely experience jealousy only in person. Jealousy is most often expressed in the form of actions and interpersonal communication. It is argued that an effective communication response in a situation of jealousy can reduce uncertainty in the relationship, maintain the relationship, as well as help restore self-esteem. The results of an empirical study are presented, which showed differences in communicative reactions to jealousy in adolescents and adults. 64.5% of young people in a situation of jealousy try to interact with a partner, more than 20% - try to please a partner, do him something nice. In the group of adult subjects, the reactions were the least pronounced: "violent interaction", "control / restriction", "manipulation", "contact with an opponent". 55% of respondents in this age group try to please their partner, do something nice for him, 41% - try to solve the problem through interaction with a partner. The next part of the study focused on the relationship between the type of communication in a relationship and the type of reaction to jealousy. The results identified age differences in the sensitivity of communication disorders, which may lead to a focus on a particular type of response. In adults, a close relationship was found between communication characteristics and the predominant type of jealousy response. Ease of communication and trust in each other proved to be more important in young people's constructive reactions to jealousy.

Abstract:
IntroductionOthello syndrome is a psychotic disorder characterized by delusion of infidelity or jealousy. It predominantly occurs in the context of specific psychiatric or neurological disorders. Othello syndrome is associated with mental changes including excessive aggression, hostility, and irritability. Patients with Othello syndrome misinterpret the behaviour of the spouse or sexual partner to provide evidence for their false perception. Objectives and aimsThe purpose of this paper is to examine the phenomenon of Othello syndrome as a result of specific neurological diseases.MethodsThe study design was a retrospective case series of patients with Othello syndrome. We searched the electronic databases PubMed and Embase for review articles and original research using the search terms ‘Othello syndrome, Morbid Jealousy, Pathological Jealousy, Delusional Jealousy, Delusions and Infidelity, Delusions of Jealousy or Infidelity’.ResultsIn the present study of 95 case reports, the relationship between Othello syndrome and a neurological pathology was described. This syndrome was most commonly associated with neurodegenerative diseases (59%), followed by medication induced Othello syndrome (13.7%) and vascular dementia (8.4%). Lesions particularly in the right (dorsolateral) frontal lobes were associated with this syndrome.ConclusionThis study demonstrates that Othello syndrome occurs most frequently in patients with right frontal lobe dysfunction. It is predominantly related with Lewy Body Disease and Alzheimer's disease. Clinicians should keep an “index of suspicion” regarding dementia when Othello syndrome presents in elderly persons.Disclosure of interestThe authors have not supplied their declaration of competing interest.

Abstract:
Because the first antistalking statute was enacted in California in 1990, stalking research has been expanded immensely, yet been largely confined to exploring traditional pursuit tactics. This study instead examined the prevalence and correlates of cyberstalking behaviors while examining the phenomenon in a more inclusive manner than previous studies focusing on cyberstalking by including social networking avenues. In addition to a measure assessing cyberstalking-related behaviors, questionnaires assessing pathological aspects of personality, including attachment style, interpersonal jealousy, interpersonal violence, and anger were also provided to participants. Results indicate that, given preliminary evidence, cyberstalking-related behaviors are related to past measures of traditional stalking and cyberstalking, although prior attachment, jealousy, and violence issues within relationships are significant predictors of cyberstalking-related behaviors. In addition, unexpected gender differences emerged. For example, women admitted greater frequencies of cyberstalking perpetration than males, signaling that further research on frequency and motivation for cyberstalking among the sexes is necessary.

Abstract:
Objective: Evolutionary models posit that jealousy is a sexually dimorphic phenomenon: men worry most about a partner’s sexual infidelity and women worry most about emotional infidelity. Social cognitive models emphasize that the presence and size of sex differences varies between and within cultures. Our aim was to examine how sex and other variables affected responses to a hypothetical jealousyevoking scenario. Design and Method: Computer-assisted telephone interviews were completed by a population-representative sample of 20,094 Australians aged 16-69. Analyses focused on responses to the question ‘What would distress you more: imagining your partner forming a deep emotional attachment to another person, or having sexual intercourse with another person?’ Results: Among heterosexual respondents, men were most likely to report that they would be most distressed by their partner’s sexual infidelity, and women were also most likely to report that they would be most distressed by their partner’s emotional infidelity, but only among women aged 20-49 did a majority report that emotional infidelity would be most distressing. Among bisexual and homosexual respondents, most women and men reported that they would be more distressed by emotional infidelity, and men were more likely than women to choose this option. Among all groups, responses were also significantly related to sexually liberal attitudes. Conclusions: The results provide some support for evolutionary models of jealousy, but highlight the importance of considering how responses to jealousy-evoking scenarios are affected by age, sexuality, and attitudes.

Crime is one of social issues and it becomes spatial phenomenon as the inclination of crime rate in a particular region affecting its neighboring regions. This paper aims to explore the inter-provincial spatial linkages of crime rate in Indonesia and examine the effects of lack of education and economic inequality on criminal occurrences. Panel data of 33 provinces in Indonesia from 2007-2013 periods are explored and discover the existence of spatial linkages of crime rate among provinces. The spatial autocorrelation (SAC) model shows that the economic gap amid the society become the trigger for crime occurrence. Criminal actions are expected to increase as the Gini index is high since the inequality can make social jealousy is inevitable and triggering criminal actions. Furthermore, lack of education is also proven significantly in affecting crime rate, imply that education level may affect individual’s decision to commit criminal actions.

Abstract:
We report a rare and striking, but under-recognised, cause of reported sleep-talking to a specialist sleep clinic. A 67 year-old right-handed bus driver was referred with one year's history of sleep-talking reported by his bed-partner of eighteen months. The somniloquy occurred on most nights, beginning within ten minutes of sleep and lasting several minutes to hours. The speech was elaborate relating to ex-girlfriends, often describing explicit sexual activities.Nocturnal polysomnography demonstrated clinically significant obstructive sleep apnoea and the working diagnosis was that obstructive events were triggering a non-REM parasomnia. On review two months later his partner reported on-going nocturnal speech. However, the patient's mounting curiosity had led to the implementation of surreptitious night-time electronic recordings. It soon became apparent that his partner's account was fictitious. Full psychiatric evaluation of his partner excluded morbid jealousy and psychotic illness. We highlight the psychological phenomenon of gas-lighting, coined from the 1938 play Gas Light, in which a husband systematically torments his unsuspecting wife in order to provoke admission to a mental health unit. This phenomenon should be considered amongst the differential diagnoses of unusual presentations to sleep clinic, especially pertinent in this setting as the clinical assessment relies heavily on the bed-partner account.

Abstract:
This study aimed to analyze the situations that precipitate and/or intensify conflicts in the conjugal relationship. Interviews were held with 19 women experiencing conjugal violence. The Discourse of the Collective Subject was used as the method of organization, making it possible to find the central ideas, and gender was used as the analytical framework. Summary: the women report the man's control and domination of the woman, jealousy, the male partner's infidelity, unplanned fatherhood and motherhood, and the use of alcohol and drugs. These situations are related to the construction of the conjugal violence and/or the woman's remaining in the relationship, with preventive actions being essential so as to avoid this phenomenon and its repercussions on the health of the woman and the family. The work of the professional nurse is indispensable in the programs for harm prevention and for the promotion and assistance of the health of women and families, through social and health service means and facilities existing in the community.

Abstract:
In this paper, I discuss how Turkish feminists have approached the phenomenon of male violence in Turkey as a political problem by following the feminist precept that the private is public. In the last twenty years, feminist activists in media have made male violence increasingly visible, by criticizing the framing of femicides as fatalities of jealousy and love. I argue that Turkish feminists do not consider male violence as just a “situation” or a structure of “oppression.” They problematize it as systematic political violence, which calls for a critique of the anti-feminist state policies that restitute masculine supremacy by the promotion of patriarchal values. The political consolidation of masculinity by the rejection of gender equality is a key aspect of authoritarianism. Turkish government does not frame domestic violence as a women’s problem but as a family problem. In contrast, feminist arguments invite the government to confront domestic violence as male violence. I suggest that the male violence that women experience in Turkey can be seen as a manifestation of bio-power at the age of the crisis of neo-liberalism.

Abstract:
Aim of the study is to apply ISM on disordered chaotic hierarchy of employees’ emotional behaviors that result in failed mergers. It is an exploratory research that uses in depth literature review for identification of behaviors, ISM for exploring causal relations, analyzing interactions & prioritizing them and MICMAC analysis for classifying them on the basis of their driving-dependence power. Findings revealed that: there are total eighteen employees’ emotional behaviors, having four levels hierarchy where job insecurity, feeling of degradation and jealousy occupy bottom of ISM model, hence, are most critical whereas, shame and compassion occupy top i.e. relatively less critical. MICMAC revealed that two behaviors are dependent, two are independent, fourteen are autonomous and no ambivalent. This study is useful for organizations which are in process of mergers or acquisitions. This study is unique as it takes the matter holistically and develops pertinence wise hierarchicalization of behaviors. The paper offers three main contributions: i) it provides comprehensive conceptual understanding of constructs of the phenomenon and underpins complex relationships among behaviors, ii) developed a model of hierarchicalization of emotional behaviors and iii) developed driving-dependence diagram on the continuum of weak-strong.

Abstract:
The supervisor’s negative attitude towards voice and unavailability of communication channels are considered significant predictors of defensive silence. However, lesser consideration has been given to provide an in-depth explanation of how and why these motivational forces influence employees’ step by step conscious decision to engage in defensive silence. This qualitative study incorporates semi-structured interviews with bank employees of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. Thematic coding and causal networking techniques were used to transcribe and analyse data and derive emerging themes. Taking influence from the elements of Expectancy Theory, this paper extends theory in the context of service sector by presenting two expectancy theory based defensive silence models. The first model provides reasons such as favoritism, political appointment, supervisor’s self-interest etc., to explain how and why the supervisor’s negative attitude towards voice influences employees’ cognitive mechanism to adopt defensive silence. Similarly, the second model presents the emerging themes like centralized decision system, career ladder, leg pulling, professional jealousy etc., to explain how and why unavailability of communication channels predicts defensive silence. Thus, the study extends the application of expectancy theory and defensive silence phenomenon to new empirical context. The paper concludes with a discussion on implications and recommendations for future work. Keywords: Defensive Silence; Supervisor’s Negative Attitude Towards Voice; Unavailability of Communication Channels.

Abstract:
IntroductionBidirectional violence is not a recent phenomenon. Nonetheless, little attention has been given to the actual dyads of intimate violence. The aim of the present review is therefore to identify and examine research that involves both the male and female partner of couples experiencing problems with intimate partner violence (IPV).MethodA thorough literature search was conducted in the electronic databases PubMed and PsycINFO. This review includes only peer-reviewed articles conducting quantitative data analysis. The key inclusion criteria were the concept of bidirectional violence. Therefore, this review only includes studies where both partners participated in the study. A total of 70 studies were included.ResultsA wide variety of psychological, social, and interaction variables were identified. Especially challenges related to alcohol, attachment, communication, jealousy, mental health and relationship satisfaction were identified. Results sheds light on how conflicts escalate and are important aspects of how IPV patterns are developed.DiscussionThe present review demonstrates the importance of incorporating partner dynamics into our understanding of IPV. By putting less emphasis on the prevalence rates and instead focus more on the dynamics of the relationships, IPV appears to be a symptom of a variety of problems within the dyad. Therefore, it would be beneficial to target preventive efforts and interventions towards both members of the couple to directly address the unhealthy dynamics that are contributing to a pattern of IPV.

Abstract:
Beautiful women have often been associated with great men of authority and governance in various kingdoms. However, according to scholars, the beautiful female subject also serves as a domineering figure that monopolises the man himself. She can also be a contributing factor towards the downfall of an empire and the world of the man she exists in. For instance, this phenomenon occurred during certain Chinese dynasties. Hence, this research, using the film titled “Tun Fatimah” (1962), focuses on studying and analysing the relationship between the beauty of Tun Fatimah – the daughter of the “Dato‟ Bendahara” of Malacca and the wife of Tun Ali – and the creation of a “sultan” (king), who was still a bachelor and governed tyrannically. Subsequently, history witnessed the king‟s downfall as a ruler in the larger context of the Malay World. It also led to fissures within the great Malaccan sultanate. This research utilises a qualitative approach, focusing on the detailed textual-narrative analysis of the film, supported by the epistemology of desire. Findings show that Tun Fatimah‟s beauty, which was befitting as queen for the Malaccan sultanate, is the main factor in contributing to the libido imbalance of the king and the weakness of hegemonic masculinity in the empire. The imbalance triggered the king‟s irrationality as shown through his emotions such as the thirst for vengeance, anger, jealousy, guilt and regret. In conclusion, the factors proved they did contribute fully to creating a tyrannical Malaccan king.

Abstract:
Domestic Violence or domestic violence (KDRT), in principle is one of the phenomenon of human rights violations so that this issue is covered as one form of discrimination, especially against women. Discrimination itself has been formulated in various legal instruments in Indonesia such as Law Number 7 of 1984 which is a form of ratification of the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against women formulated by the United Nations (UN), and more recently is Law No. 23 Tahuo 2004 on Domestic Abolition (KDRT), but there is still no significant impact for women victims of discrimination. In fact, there are still very few who understand the content, let alone apply this law from law enforcers alone. Domestic violence can be triggered by many factors, including economic factors, low education, jealousy and can also result in the presence of one person old from both sides, who take part in a household. From education factor can be caused by lack of knowledge from both side how to balance and overcoming unsuitable traits between them, maybe in a household there is husband who have arrogant nature and tend to win by themselves because of lack of knowledge. Legal basis of handling violence in the household, among others, is article 294 paragraph (I) of the Penal Code (KUHP) that threatens a person who commits an obscene act with his or her immature son, stepchild or retrieve, his or her pets and so on with criminal penalty for seven years . Article 340 of the Criminal Code on premeditated murder, Articles 341 and 342 on the murder of women against their babies, Article 356 on family persecution and so on. In addition to the Criminal Code (Penal Code), there are also laws regulating the Elimination of Domestic Violence. Keywords: Domestic Violence

Aims In this lecture I will define and distinguish between shame and guilt. I will then discuss the potential causes of shame and guilt and how these emotions manifest in behavioral and phenomenal terms. I will conclude by introducing a classification that deals with the varieties and nature of the pathologies of shame and guilt that are evident in clinical practice. I will rely on concepts developed by Karl Jaspers, Hans Jonas and Bernhard Schlink. In doing this I will be exploring the role of moral and juridical principles upon the experience of shame and guilt including the place of the imperatives of responsibility upon the experience of shame and guilt. I will argue further that shame and guilt are as important as other secondary emotions such as envy and jealousy but are not as examined and studied in clinical practice. I will make a case for the centrality of these emotions to an understanding of and response to particular clinical conditions in daily practice.MethodsN/A.ResultsN/A.ConclusionsShame and Guilt are both important emotions that are central to our understanding of and response to particular conditions in daily practice. Their antecedents and structure provide a basis for distinguishing between them.Disclosure of interestThe author has not supplied his declaration of competing interest.

Abstract:
No work of Cyril devoted to exclusively Adam’s sin was preserved. Though in entire of his exegetical and pastoral production repeatedly this theme which one of patterns of his theology constitutes appears. According to Cyryl, Satan caused with jealousy took the man to the sin hitting the emotional sphere in order after all to take the man for falsifying the intellect. Tempting which consists in showing pleasure, is a modus operandi of the Satan which having an influence on an affective sphere after all he causes that the logic of this sphere is winning the logic of the intellectual sphere and a superiority in action is taking over making the man – animal rationale – less rationale, and more animale. This concept is dismissing Cyril oneself for Philo’s research, according to which for the figure in telling about the first sin they are symbolizing Adam and Eve’s two hierarchized spheres of one man: appropriately the intellectual sphere and the affective sphere. In his deliberations about the sin of the first parents Cyril also refers to elements of the biblical description (Genesis 1-3), so as: the heavenly commandment, the tree of getting to know the good and evil and its fruit. Cyril is reflecting also about the phenomenon of the snake and the issue of the woman, which created in order to be a help for the man, showed herself to be – how Cyril is describing her – with „intermediary of the sin”. The Alexandrian is also giving some thought to the inborn knowledge of the first people and the concept acquaintances of the good and evil. As the being and relevant aspects of the sin of the first people Cyril – referring to the Pauline tradition – is listing the insubordination, disregarding, the betrayal of the Holy Spirit, the lack of the circumspection, the exaggerated love of the body or exaggerated cherishing pleasure. Cyril – what was indicated in the article – very much willingly is using the metaphor of Egypt (Exodus), seeing, the symbol of the sin in it particularly in the days of patriarchs, of particularly Adam’s sin.

Abstract:
Kanji are characters used in Japanese which are the result of Chinese thought adopted by Japanese society. The main elements in kanji (bushu) can be gender markers, water, trees, and others. One of these elements is a female gender symbol called onnahen. The data used in this study, in the form of kanji with bushu onnahen. The data were analyzed based on the theory of semiotics and hypersemiotics which view kanji as a cultural phenomenon. The results of the analysis identified that the female symbol in the kanji with bushu onnahen represents that Japanese woman have a respectable character when they become a wife and mother, are authoritative, trustworthy, helpful, but have no character, are false, selfish, and jealous. Theoretically, this research is useful to add references in the study of gender and kanji.

Abstract:
In contrast to viewing jealousy as a unitary construct, this research differentiates jealousy into reactive (emotional components of jealousy) and suspicious jealousy (cognitive and behavioral components of jealousy), for which manifestations and antecedents differ. Besides finding that reactive and suspicious jealousy could be delineated, the results of two studies found evidence for discriminant validity and that greater reactive jealousy was related to greater relationship dependency, greater trust, and lower chronic jealousy. Persons who displayed more suspicious jealousy had greater insecurity, greater anxious attachment, greater avoidant attachment, greater chronic jealousy, and lower self-esteem. This research is consistent with a transactional model of jealousy.

Abstract:
This study investigated sex differences in jealousy after subliminal exposure to rivals wearing high-status or low-status clothes. It was expected that individual differences in preventive jealousy would moderate the relationship between a rival's characteristics and jealousy. Participants (Men: n = 54, M age = 21.6 yr., SD = 3.5; women: n = 71, M age = 20.7 yr., SD = 1.9) completed a parafoveal subliminal priming paradigm as well as questionnaires about jealousy and preventive jealousy. As predicted, women were not affected by their rival's status, but women high in preventive jealousy reported more jealousy than women low in preventive jealousy. However, whereas men low in preventive jealousy reported equal amounts of jealousy after exposure to a high-status and a low-status rival, surprisingly, and contrary to the expectations, men high in preventive jealousy reported most jealousy after exposure to a low-status rival. To explain these unexpected results, threats to self-esteem were discussed.
