Abstract:
The purpose of this article is process of analyzing in reference to concert capriccio by C. Munier for mandolin with piano («Bizzarria», op. 201, Spanish сapriccio, op. 276) from the point of view of their genre specificity. Methodology. The research is based on the historical approach, which determines the specifics of the genre of Capriccio in the music of the late 19th and early 20th centuries and in the work of C. Munier; the computational and analytical methods used to identify the peculiarities of the formulation and the performing interpretation of the original concert pianos for mandolins with piano that, according to the genre orientation (according to the composerʼs remarks), are defined as capriccio. Scientific novelty. The creation of Florentine composer,61mandolinist-vertuoso and pedagog C. Munier, which made about 300 compositions, is exponential for represented scientific vector. Concert works by C. Munier for mandolin and piano, created in the capriccio genre, were not yet considered in the art of the outdoors, as the creativity and composer’s style of the famous mandolinist. Conclusions. Thus, appealing to capriccio by С. Munier, which created only two works, embodied in them virtually all the evolutionary stages of the development of genre. In his opus of this genre there are a vocal, inherent in capriccio of the 17th century solo presentation, virtuosity, originality, which were embodied in the works of 17th – 18th centuries and the national color of the 19th century is clearly expressed. Thus, the Spanish capriccio is a kind of «musical encyclopedia» of national dance, which features are characteristic features of bolero, tarantella, habanera, and so forth. The originality of opus number 201 – «Bizzarria», is embodied in the parameters of shaping (expanded cadence of the soloist in the beginning) and emphasized virtuosity, which is realized in a wide register range, a variety of technical elements.

Abstract:
AbstractThe effect of scalar-field (temperature) boundary conditions on the inertial-convective-range scaling exponents of the high-order passive scalar structure functions is studied in the turbulent, heated wake downstream of a circular cylinder. The temperature field is generated two ways: using (i) a heating element embedded within the cylinder that generates the hydrodynamic wake (thus creating a heated cylinder) and (ii) a mandoline (an array of fine, heated wires) installed downstream of the cylinder. The hydrodynamic field is independent of the scalar-field boundary conditions/injection methods, and the same in both flows. Using the two heat injection mechanisms outlined above, the inertial-convective-range scaling exponents of the high-order passive scalar structure functions were measured. It is observed that the different scalar-field boundary conditions yield significantly different scaling exponents (with the magnitude of the difference increasing with structure function order). Moreover, the exponents obtained from the mandoline experiment are smaller than the analogous exponents from the heated cylinder experiment (both of which exhibit a significant departure from the Kolmogorov prediction). Since the observed deviation from the Kolmogorov $n/ 3$ prediction arises due to the effects of internal intermittency, the typical interpretation of this result would be that the scalar field downstream of the mandoline is more internally intermittent than that generated by the heated cylinder. However, additional measures of internal intermittency (namely the inertial-convective-range scaling exponents of the mixed, sixth-order, velocity–temperature structure functions and the non-centred autocorrelations of the dissipation rate of scalar variance) suggest that both scalar fields possess similar levels of internal intermittency – a distinctly different conclusion. Examination of the normalized high-order moments reveals that the smaller scaling exponents (of the high-order passive scalar structure functions) obtained for the mandoline experiment arise due to the smaller thermal integral length scale of the flow (i.e. the narrower inertial-convective subrange) and are not solely the result of a more intermittent scalar field. The difference in the passive scalar structure function scaling exponents can therefore be interpreted as an artifact of the different, finite Péclet numbers of the flows under consideration – an effect that is notably less prominent in the other measures of internal intermittency.

Abstract:
Borrowing the notion of “projet d’ensemble” from Roland Barthes’s Critique et verité, this essay proposes a critical analysis of Adília Lopes’s Bandolim (2016). Two of the procedures that configure the book’s interior are outlined on the cover: text as sound and text as image. The metaphor of the mandolin and its performative demands relates to Eliot’s ideas about tradition and individuality and describes Lopes’s approach to poetry. Through a close reading of poems in the collection, I argue that Bandolim performs on the infinity of unity while representing the unity of infinity.

Abstract:
Farmer motivation is defined as a condition that drives a person to carry out an action in order to achieve his goals. Pulu Mandoti is one of the rarest types of fragrant glutinous rice. Pulu Mandoti can only grow in mountainous areas with an altitude of 700 meters above sea level. One of the villages that meets these criteria is Salukanan Village, Baraka sub-District, Enrekang District. This study aims to describe the system of Mandoti Pulu rice cultivation and to determine the motivation of farmers in the cultivation of Mandoti Pulu rice. This research was conducted in Salukanan Village, Baraka Subdistrict, Enrekang District in July 2019 using a descriptive qualitative method, by collecting information through interviews and questionnaires, then the information was processed using a Likert scale, and analyzed descriptively qualitatively. In conclusion, the cultivation conditions of the mandoti rice plant varieties used are local seeds, the process of land management is done by spraying herbicides, planting by way of transplanting with planting spacing, ie spacing of 25x25 cm tiles, fertilizing is done on average 5 times in one run planting season, i.e. before planting, 7 days after planting, 3rd week, 6th week, and 12th week, irrigation using water coming from the mountains using semi-technical irrigation, controlling pests and diseases by spraying appropriate pesticides such as supremo, regent, dangke and rat poison, harvest after rice aged 6-7 months ie in September to November is carried out using a technology that is still simple, ani-ani, post-harvest activities carried out namely drying and threshing. While the motivation of farmers in the cultivation of Pulu Mandoti rice from the aspect of the economic environment is at a moderate level, aspects of the social environment are at a high level, and aspects of the natural environment are at a high level.

Abstract:
Hydroponics has become a popular production technology for leafy greens in greenhouses. However, year-round production of cool-season leafy greens remains challenging due to costly heating and cooling during winter and summer seasons, depending on location. Therefore, the objective of this study is to investigate the effect of nutrient solution cooling and heating in deep-water hydroponic systems on the performance of several leafy green vegetables. Two experiments of nutrient solution cooling during the summer season and another two experiments of nutrient solution heating during the winter season were conducted in Texas, USA in 2020–2021. Lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.) ‘Bergams Green’ and ‘Red Mist’, Pak Choi (Brassica rapa subsp. chinensis) ‘Purple Magic’ and ‘White Stem’, and spinach (Spinacia oleracea L.) ‘Mandolin’ and ‘Seaside’ were grown in the summer experiments, and only the two lettuce cultivars were grown for the winter experiments. For both cooling and heating studies, six deep-water culture systems were used with two treatments: cooling (23 °C) vs. no cooling, and heating (22 °C) vs. no heating, with three replications in each experiment. In the nutrient solution cooling study, spinach was the most heat-sensitive species, and ‘Mandolin’ was more heat-tolerant than ‘Seaside,’ as evidenced by its lower mortality rate in both experiments. Lettuce and pak choi grew well and solution cooling increased shoot fresh weight in both lettuce cultivars and in ‘White Stem’ pak choi but not in ‘Purple Magic’ pak choi. Conversely, during the winter season, solution heating increased shoot fresh weight of both lettuce cultivars; however, ‘Red Mist’ was more responsive than ‘Bergams Green’ lettuce. These results indicate the potential to increase crop yield by controlling nutrient solution temperature throughout the year, depending on the season. Also, there were genotypic differences in both cooling and heating experiments, indicating that more research is needed to determine the species-dependent and even cultivar-dependent nutrient solution temperature control strategies to achieve optimum year-round production.

Abstract:
Mandovi and Zuari estuarine complex is monsoon-influenced estuaries located along the central west coast of India. During the past few years, there has been an increase in nutrient loading specially during monsoonal runoff which is responsible for the growth of harmful algal flora. To understand occurrence and distribution of harmful algal blooms species, daily/alternate day samplings were carried out in Mandovi and Zuari estuaries during 2007-2008 and 2008-2009 periods, respectively, comprising of monsoon (June–November) and nonmonsoon (December–May). In Mandovi, total 54 HAB species with 49 in monsoon and 36 during nonmonsoon period were reported. In Zuari, total 46 HAB species with 38 in monsoon and 41 were reported during nonmonsoon period. Bray-Curtis cluster analysis based on log-transformed phytoplankton density detected seven well-defined groups revealing spatiotemporal variability. The density of the dominant harmful algal species was significantly positively correlated with nutrients, but negatively correlated with salinity. The results of the study indicate that monsoon plays an important role in occurrence and distribution of harmful algal species having direct correlation with salinity variations and nutrient loading.

Abstract:
Aim: The fisheries resources of Mandovi Estuary, along the central west coast of India were analysed for taxonomic, functional, feeding and population aspects and also to record and prepare an inventory on fish and shellfish species. Methodology: Finfish and shellfish taxa were monitored for four years (2016 to 2020) through surveys in small and regional markets, fishermen surveys, fishing gear samplings, telephonic interviews and photographs. Results: A total of 318 taxa are counted comprising of 169 (53.1%) demersal, 71 (22.3%) pelagic fish, 37 (11.6%), molluscan and 41 (12.9%) crustacean species. The community was dominated by marine immigrants and the freshwater types contributed least to the composition. In the inventory, majority of the resources were of commercial value and this category contributed 70% of total documented species. Even though detailed analyses were required, nearly 2% of the fauna appeared to be endemic to the region. Further, more than 30% species listed were data deficient. Out of 318 species, 10% were unknown in the Mandovi estuary. Interpretation: This data set comprehensively documents the finfish and shellfish diversity of Mandovi estuary from 2016 to 2020. The type of fish assemblage is briefly discussed focusing on the management of these resources in the estuary.

Abstract:
Background Multicomponent family interventions underline current best practice in childhood obesity treatment. Mobile health (mHealth) adjuncts that address eating and physical activity behaviors have shown promise in clinical studies. Objective This study aimed to describe process methods for applying an mHealth intervention to reduce the rate of eating and monitor physical activity among children with obesity. Methods The study protocol was designed to incorporate 2 mHealth apps as an adjunct to usual care treatment for obesity. Children and adolescents (aged 9-16 years) with obesity (BMI ≥98th centile) were recruited in person from a weight management service at a tertiary health care center in the Republic of Ireland. Eligible participants and their parents received information leaflets, and informed consent and assent were signed. Participants completed 2 weeks of baseline testing, including behavioral and quality of life questionnaires, anthropometry, rate of eating by Mandolean, and physical activity level using a smart watch and the myBigO smartphone app. Thereafter, participants were randomized to the (1) intervention (usual clinical care+Mandolean training to reduce the rate of eating) or (2) control (usual clinical care) groups. Gender and age group (9.0-12.9 years and 13.0-16.9 years) stratifications were applied. At the end of a 4-week treatment period, participants repeated the 2-week testing period. Process evaluation measures included recruitment, study retention, fidelity parameters, acceptability, and user satisfaction. Results A total of 20 participants were enrolled in the study. A web-based randomization system assigned 8 participants to the intervention group and 12 participants to the control group. Attrition rates were higher among the participants in the intervention group (5/8, 63%) than those in the control group (3/12, 25%). Intervention participants undertook a median of 1.0 training meal using Mandolean (25th centile 0, 75th centile 9.3), which represented 19.2% of planned intervention exposure. Only 50% (9/18) of participants with smart watches logged physical activity data. Significant differences in psychosocial profile were observed at baseline between the groups. The Child Behavior Checklist (CBCL) mean total score was 71.7 (SD 3.1) in the intervention group vs 57.6 (SD 6.6) in the control group, t-test P<.001, and also different among those who completed the planned protocol compared with those who withdrew early (CBCL mean total score 59.0, SD 9.3, vs 67.9, SD 5.6, respectively; t-test P=.04). Conclusions A high early attrition rate was a key barrier to full study implementation. Perceived task burden in combination with behavioral issues may have contributed to attrition. Low exposure to the experimental intervention was explained by poor acceptability of Mandolean as a home-based tool for treatment. Self-monitoring using myBigO and the smartwatch was acceptable among this cohort. Further technical and usability studies are needed to improve adherence in our patient group in the tertiary setting.

Abstract:
This article proposes to resolve an internal ambiguity in the subdiscipline called Everyday Aesthetics (EA), systematized by the researcher Horacio Pérez-Henao, according to whom the extension of aesthetics to the everyday has been done, on the one hand, by means of a consideration of an expansive object and subject according to aesthesis itself, as mainly proposed by Katya Mandoki, and, on the other hand, by means of a restrictive object and subject according to the parameters of an authentic aesthetic experience, a theory headed by John Dewey. Methodology: To resolve this tension, a hermeneutic methodology known as the fourfold sense of being, related to Hegelian dialectic, albeit with important modifications supplied by William Desmond was used. This methodology allows a suitable way to explore and discuss different approaches in everyday aesthetics epitomized by Mandoki and Dewey, and makes possible the proposal of a third way, epitomized by G. K. Chesterton. Results: Bearing in mind the original intention of EA—according to which the everyday must be revitalized from an aesthetic perspective, as explained by Joseph Kupfer, it is argued that the two alternate positions of Mandoki and Dewey are unsatisfactory; an attempt is therefore made to respond to this through the analysis of the aesthetic approach of G. K. Chesterton. From his aesthetic reflections, it can be ascertained that to revitalize daily life, the object must be expansive and the subject, restrictive, from a certain méthodos and according to patterns that qualify an everyday aesthetic experience. All of this seeks to pave the way for subsequent investigations of EA being both expansive and restrictive. Finally, it is argued that this Chestertonian EA converges with and extends the aesthetics of design of Jane Forsey, and thus shows that design itself can be revitalized in keeping with a restrictiveexpansive approach to everyday aesthetics. Conclusion: aesthetics should be expansive every day, in that it should concern itself with any aspect of daily life, and restrictive, in that it should set certain limits on the self and its intentions with regard to the possibilities of aesthetic experience.

Abstract:
Genetic hydrocephalus is a neurological condition in which the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) flows with subsequent and it results in enlargement of the cerebral ventricular cavities. The common cause of the congenital hydrocephalus is the variation in the L1CAM gene, and there is the narrow passage between the third and fourth ventricles. It is suggesting that hydrocephalus is more complicated than the simple CSF , and are many factors which are associated with the genetics of hydrocephalus, the major two factors are the i) telomeres proximity ii) and the more content of Adenine and Thymine [A, T] in the human CH as compared to the other nervous disorders. It is also suggesting that genetics of hydrocephalus is a crucial birth defect, and its genetics is still not completely understood, so it is the most important clinical feature. There are about 43 mutant loci associated with the animals and human hydrocephalus. Among them 9 are associated with animal models and 1 with the human. The most important hydrocephalus gene products are the growth factors, cytokines and many cellular signal pathways in the starting stage of brain development. In this study we will aim to understand the abnormalities in brain cause by the abnormal cellular functioning, and all these cellular events results congenital hydrocephalus. All these studies show that it is the mandolin type of disease with reference to the cellular, molecular genetics, physiological and pathological studies.

Abstract:
According to the C14 age dating, it is thought that the Bronze Age begun from the B.C. 15th century and the lute shaped bronze dagger was brought into the Korean Peninsula in 1100B.C. The upper limit of the Songgukri Assemblage is also thought in B.C. 10th century. Examining the mandolin shaped dagger in Liaoxi area and sacrificial vessel, set the emergence time of this dagger and consider when this dagger appeared in the middle part of the Korean Peninsula. And make comparison between this result and the C14 age dating of the Bronze Age. As a result, this dagger was brought into the Korean Peninsula in Gangshang phase B.C. 7th century. The Songgukri Assemblage begun after the B.C 6th century. There are 400~500 years apart in time comparing with the C14 age dating. Scientific result based on probability and statistics is not absolute unlike mathematical result. Even though scientific rule exists, there are many variables in the process of proving, so various solutions should be proposed to prove according to the times. The result by the C14 age dating method is just though as the best method in present time. According as how improves the method of analysis, the result should be also changed. Therefore, the C14 age dating must be applied to archaeological chronology with discretion.

Abstract: The goal of this work was to evaluate the storage effects under different temperatures, relative humidities (RH) and packaging types on the seed physiological quality and pod moisture content of Arachis pintoi cv. BRS Mandobi. The fruit of this herbaceous, perennial, leguminous species consists of an indehiscent pod containing a single seed, which is not dehulled for planting purposes. Pod samples presenting an initial 5.8% moisture content and stored under atmospheres presenting 30, 50, 70, 80 and 90% RH at 21±2 °C reached, respectively, the following equilibrium moisture content (EMC): 5.1±0.3%, 6.2±0.2%, 7.4±0.3%, 8.5±0.2% and 11.6±0.4%. Pod components (pericarp and seed) differed from one another in terms of EMC when stored under the same RH’s; on an average, the pericarp EMC was 4.2% higher than that of the seed. A drastic physiological quality reduction was observed in seeds contained in pods that presented a 6.9% moisture content when storage temperature was raised from 21±2 °C to 30±3 °C. The physiological quality of seeds was preserved for a longer time in semi-permeable packages; this contributed either to maintain low EMC’s or to delay reaching higher pod EMC’s, depending on the RH under which they were stored.

Abstract:
The coastal region is the transitional area between the terrestrial and marine environment that has a great change of experiencing pressure due to pollution. This matter can caused by the strong population of Indonesia, quite high tourist activities, sea transportations, and large infra structure development. Marine debris in particular plastic is a big problem, not only in Indonesia, but also around the world. Hence, Indonesia is considered to be the second largest plastic waste producer in the world. Marine debris is part of a broader problem regarding waste management. Solid waste management has become a challenge for public health. In this research, garbage observation was done by adapting the shoreline survey method based on the national oceanic and atmospheric administration (NOAA, 2013). The results of observations of the research found that the type of macro-debris and meso-debris collected in the transect of observations were 228 items with a total weight of 2062.32 grams. Plastics debris were found in most quantities followed by rubbers, glasses and metals. The main factor for the abundance of marine debris in the coastal area of Tateli dua village Mandolang subdistrict Minahasa regency was the household waste, indicating that land-based sources provide a key factor for plastic pollution on the coastal area. Keywords: Marine debris, shoreline survey, pollution, coastal environment, Minahasa regency. Pengamatan sampah dilakukan dengan adaptasi metode shoreline survey methodology berdasarkan National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration(NOAA, 2013). Abstract:
Women constitute a growing segment of the incarcerated population across the world, presenting unique issues for social workers in correctional settings. In this article, based on a study conducted in Mandoli Jail, New Delhi, India, we address the need to broaden the scope and quality of social work provided for women inmates, specifically highlighting the potential role of social workers in promoting their mental health. Our study revealed that the mean age of women inmates was 39.43 years, indicating that most of the women were in their reproductive age and therefore prone to specific health issues. On an average, they were overweight, with only 42.22% women inmates being active, while remaining were inactive (15.56%), moderately inactive (22.22%) or moderately active (20.00%). Of greater concern were the mental health findings: 87.8% experienced distress (45.57% moderately elevated, 54.43% strongly elevated), 73.3% depression (34.85% moderately elevated, 65.15% strongly elevated), 77.78% anxiety (41.43% moderately elevated, 58.57% strongly elevated) and 82.22% somatisation (43.24% moderately elevated, 56.76% strongly elevated). Our study, consequently, identified the mental health of women inmates as a strategic priority for social workers. In this article, we explore the mutuality of various social work practice principles at different levels of intervention and the roles that social workers, as human rights-based professionals, may engage in to improve the mental health of incarcerated women.

Study of the Commelina names published for the Americas and their original materials, in the context of a continental taxonomic revision of the genus, evidenced the need for typifications and synonymisations. In this work, 18 names are lectotypified (Athyrocarpus pseudomonosperma, C. aquatica, C. bravoa, C. diffusa var. cordispatha, C. dubia Redouté nom. illeg., C. erecta f. intercursa, C. formosa, C. glabra, C. nervosa, C. pallida, C. pallida var. parviflora, C. pilosula, C. quitensis var. mandonii, C. stricta, C. undulata Lodd. nom. illeg., C. virginica var. massonii, Nephralles parviflora and Phaeosphaerion efoveolaltum), one name neotypified (C. polygama), one name epitypified (C. longicaulis) and eight new synonymisations proposed. Evidence is presented that the African species C. aquatica, which is morphologically similar to the American C. longicaulis but has a different chromosome number, is most probably not conspecific with C. diffusa. Furthermore, the situation of seven Commelina names currently recognised in some sources, which however were never validly published, is discussed.

Abstract:
The geographical range of the orchid genus Cranichis extends from USA, Central America, and the Caribbean to Bolivia and Argentina—with the greatest diversity observed in the Andean region. This taxon embraces herbs with the scape and basal leaves developing from a single, terminal bud and having the scape enclosed in several sheaths. The small, non-resupinate, flowers are arranged in a racemose inflorescence. The petals and lip are free from the column part and their gynostemium is short and massive. In this paper, the synopsis of Cranichis in Colombia is presented. Each species occurring in the country is characterized and illustrated. The information about habitat and distribution of national genus representatives are provided. Several groups of species that are very similar in their morphology are delineated to facilitate process of species identification. A total of 10 species are described here as new. Lectotypes for the six species Cranichis ciliata, C. fendleri, C. mandonii, C. tenuis, C. viereckii, and C. wageneri have been selected. Additionally, two new nomenclatorial combinations within Ocampoa are proposed.

Abstract:
Lantana camaraL. (Verbenaceae) is a shrub of Neotropical origin that has spread to at least 60 countries (Dayet al. 2003), and its ability to rapidly occupy disturbed habitat has led to it being named one of the ten worst weeds on the planet (Cronk & Fuller 1995, Sharmaet al. 2005). A number of traits may have contributed to its success as an invasive species. For example,L. camaraincreases the available soil nitrogen in otherwise nitrogen-poor ecosystems (Sharma & Raghubanshi 2009), it is extremely resilient to disturbance (Gentle & Guggin 1997a, Hiremath & Sundram 2005), it is allelopathic to native plants (Achhireddy & Singh 1984, Gentle & Duggin 1997b) and its fruits are dispersed by a variety of birds (Mandon-Dalgeret al. 2004, Swarbricket al. 1998). A potentially unappreciated aspect ofL. camarabiology that may also contribute to its invasiveness relates to pollination ecology.

Abstract:
The government of Goa has been promoting casino tourism in Goa arguing that promoting casinos is necessary to bolster the economic growth of Goa especially in the aftermath of the mining ban that deprived Goa and its government of the substantial revenue generated through mining. The casino promotion, however, has met with strong protests in Goa from the time the government decided to encourage casinos to expand the growth of tourism in Goa. Casinos have taken strong roots in Goa and clearing the ever-growing forest of casinos is becoming more and more difficult as years roll by. The offshore casinos have almost fused with the landscape of Panjim making it almost next to impossible to visualize Panjim and the river Mandovi sans the casinos. At this juncture, accepting, despite all opposition, that the reality of Panjim ‘casinoscape’ will linger on into the future, the challenges ahead lie in implementing sustainable strategies to maximize the gains from casinos and counteract the prospective ill-effects from casino type tourism instead of imagining a return back to the Panjim of the 1990s and earlier.

Abstract:
Macrofaunal community structure is determined by a number of environmental variables. The riverine run-off during the monsoon brings about drastic changes in the physico-chemical parameters of a tropical estuary. The aim of the present study was to investigate the influence of rainfall in structuring the benthic macrofaunal community of a tropical estuary. The temporal dynamics of the macrobenthic community in the monsoon dominated Mandovi estuary (central west coast of India) was studied fortnightly from June 2007 to June 2009. A fixed location, downstream of the Madovi river, was sampled for benthic and water parameters. Ten replicates were collected during each sampling date using a Van Veen grab (0.04 m2). The macrofaunal abundance showed temporal fluctuation. The multivariate analysis showed the clustering of the samples linked to the environmental parameters (CCA and LINKTREE). The temporal variation observed in the macrofaunal abundance was basically due to changes in abundance of the dominant species. The variation in macrofaunal abundance was brought about by the recruitment and settling of re-suspended adults. It can be concluded that the macrofaunal structuring is influenced by temporal changes in the environment associated with the annual monsoon rainfall. Hence climate induced changes in the monsoonal pattern may affect the macrobenthic assemblages of tropical estuaries.

Abstract:
Local rice is rice that has been cultivated for generations by the community and commonly cultivated without using chemical inputs. Endophytic fungi are fungi that live in the plant tissue and does not cause disease symptoms in the host plants. This study aimed to molecular identifying isolates of MDTA and MDTB endophytic fungi which have been isolated from the local Pulu Mandoti rice plant tissue and growth test on the four types of culture media those were synthetic PDA, natural PDA, MPA, and MEA. The fungi DNA isolation using DNesay Kit. DNA sequencing analysis using the mega BLAST program showed that the MDTB fungus has similarities to Podoscypha bolleana strain 32034 no accession JQ675334 and Podoscypha bolleana strain 32032 no accession JQ675332, whereas the MDTA fungus has similarities to Coprinopsis cinerea A2S3-5 isolate and Coprinopsis cinerea strain CNRMA / F 07-32. The best culture media and sporulation of endophytic fungi is MPA media. This research is the first study to molecular identifying with endophytic fungi from local rice and viability test on the four types of culture media. The results of this study contribute to the diversity of local rice endophytic fungi in Sulawesi.

Abstract:
Seasonal nutrient dynamics were investigated in four rivers with a microtidal range (Terekhol, Chapora, Sal and Talpona rivers) and were compared with those of two rivers with a mesotidal range (Zuari and Mandovi rivers) along the central west coast of India. Rainfall and freshwater discharge during the wet season led to salinity stratification of the water columns at the mouths of these rivers. Nutrient concentrations in all rivers were higher during the wet season than in the dry season due to considerable land run-off. Based on the estuarine mixing diagrams of the nutrients with regard to salinity, the mesotidal rivers showed greater flushing capacity and acted as corridors for the passage of nutrients between the estuary and open ocean. Conversely, of the microtidal rivers, the Terekhol and Chapora seemed to retain nutrients, whereas there was no indication of the presence of a nutrient sink or source in the Talpona River. The Sal River was eutrophic with high nutrient levels and acted as a source of phosphorus and nitrogen. Thus, the present study clearly illustrates the important role played by minor river estuaries in modifying nutrient concentrations during their transport from rivers to coastal waters and vice versa.

Abstract:
ABSTRACT The search for alternatives to increase productivity and sustainability of livestock production in the Amazon region without increasing deforestation is challenging. Mixed pastures of grasses with forage peanut (Arachis pintoi) have shown positive economic impacts. However, gaps in the knowledge of the reproductive biology of A. pintoi have limited the development of new cultivars adapted to the environmental variations in the Brazilian Amazon. Pasture consortiums of Brachiaria humidicola with forage peanuts (cv. Mandobi) resulted in a 42% increase in weight gain productivity. New cultivars better adapted to the Amazon climate should bring even greater gains. We evaluated the mating system in twenty A. pintoi accessions, and approximately 40 offspring per accession genotyped with eight microsatellites (or markers). The parameters of genetic diversity and inbreeding, the outcrossing rate and coancestry were calculated. The observed heterozygosity was significantly higher and the fixation index was significantly lower in adults compared with the offspring. The crossing rate was variable among genotypes (2 to 80%), and the mean outcrossing rate was 36%. These results indicate that pollinator presence in pastures can influence gene flow in A. pintoi more than expected. Arachis pintoi presented a mixed mating system with a predominance of selfing, and families presented inbreeding and different levels of relatedness. New strategies of genotype conservation are needed to avoid pollinator-mediated crossing between accessions.

Abstract:
AbstractUnderstanding patterns of erosion and sedimentation and their driving mechanisms is important for formulating a variety of estuarine management issues (conservation, shoreline protection, navigation, dredging and embanking). Therefore, the present study aims to determine the factors influencing the seasonal distribution and dynamics of suspended particulate matter (SPM) of two meso-(Mandovi and Zuari) and four micro-tidal (Terekhol, Chapora, Sal, and Talpona) river estuaries of Goa, on the central west coast of India. These estuaries exhibited salinity stratification near their mouths during the wet season and well-mixed water columns during the dry season. The SPM concentrations were two times higher in the wet season than in the dry season. Estuarine turbidity maximum (ETM) was a consistent feature in both the seasons at the mouth of the estuaries, except in the estuary of the Sal River. The in situ vertical distribution of SPM volume concentration and mean particle size allowed for a better visualization of the ETM formation and distribution. The gravitational circulation as well as flocculation at the salt–freshwater interface during the wet season and the impact of tidal and wind-induced currents at the river mouths during the dry season were primarily responsible for the formation of the ETMs.

Abstract Comparison of transcriptome sequences of the BALB/c mouse fibrosarcoma Meth A with the normal BALB/c genome led to identification of 1528 heterozygous tumor-specific point mutations, which, using the NetMHC algorithm, generated 203 Kd-restricted potential neoepitopes1. BALB/c mice were immunized with each of 11 candidate-neoepitopes which had a high binding affinity to Kd (IC50 <500 nM), and were challenged with live Meth A cells. Not a single candidate-neoepitope elicited tumor rejection. Mice were then immunized with the same candidate-neoepitopes in combination with 9D9, an antagonistic antibody to CTLA-4 (mouse anti-mouse IgG2b). In preliminary results, a small number of candidate-neoepitopes that did not elicit tumor rejection on their own appear to be active in tumor rejection, when combined with checkpoint blockade of CTLA-4. These results as well as a mechanistic dissection of this un-covering of latent immunogenicity by checkpoint blockade shall be presented. 1Duan F, Duitama J, Al Seesi S, Ayres CM, Corcelli SA, Pawashe AP, Blanchard T, McMahon D, Sidney J, Sette A, Baker BM, Mandoiu II, Srivastava PK. Abstract:
Disruption of ecosystems is one of the biggest threats posed by invasive species (Mack et al. 2000). Thus, one of the most important challenges is to understand the impact of exotic species on native species and habitats (e.g. Jones 2008). The probability that entire ‘invasive communities’ will develop increases as more species establish in new areas (Bourgeois et al. 2005). For example, introduced species may act in concert, facilitating one another's invasion, and increasing the likelihood of successful establishment, spread and impact. Simberloff & Von Holle (1999) introduced the term ‘invasional meltdown’ for this process, which has received widespread attention since (e.g. O'Dowd 2003, Richardson et al. 2000, Simberloff 2006). Positive interactions among introduced species are relatively common, but few have been studied in detail (Traveset & Richardson 2006). Examples include introduced insects and birds that pollinate and disperse exotic plants, thereby facilitating the spread of these species into non-invaded habitats (Goulson 2003, Mandon-Dalger et al. 2004, Simberloff & Von Holle 1999). From a more general ecological perspective, the study of interactions involving introduced and invasive species can contribute to our knowledge of ecological processes – for example, community assembly and indirect interactions.

Abstract:
Calcitonin (CT) modulates rat intercalated cell (IC) functions of the rat cortical collecting duct (CCD) [E. Siga, B. Mandon, N. Roinel, and C. de Rouffignac. Am.J. Physiol. 264 (Renal Fluid Electrolyte Physiol. 33): F221-F227, 1993]. To characterize the specific function regulated by CT, rat CCDs were perfused in vitro. Total CO2 net fluxes (JtCO2, pmol.mm-1.min-1) and transepithelial voltage (Vt) were measured. Bath CT induced a significant tCO2 reabsorption. This effect was higher on CCDs harvested from acid-loaded than from control rats. When HCO3- secretion was blocked, CT also raised JtCO2 and Vt. When H+ secretion was blocked, CT was ineffective on JtCO2 and Vt. When HCO3- secretion was increased and H+ secretion was inhibited, CT did not change JtCO2, whereas isoproterenol (ISO) increased tCO2 secretion from -13.5 +/- 2.0 (control) to -19.0 +/- 2.4 (ISO). In rat CCD studied under these same preceding conditions plus luminal amiloride to block the Na(+)-dependent Vt, CT did not alter Vt, whereas ISO increased it by 4.5 +/- 0.7 mV. We conclude from these data that, in the rat CCD, calcitonin stimulates H+ secretion, likely by so-called alpha-intercalated (alpha-IC) cells, whereas ISO stimulates HCO3- secretion, likely by so-called beta-IC cells.

Abstract:
This article considers the politics of representing “Korea” in Japanese-language texts, focusing specifically on the work of “Zainichi” writer Kim Sŏkpŏm (1925–). The author begins by identifying parallels between what Kim calls “the spellbinding of language” (kotoba no jubaku) and the unresolved debate over Frederic Jameson’s statement that “all third-world texts are necessarily . . . national allegories.” Kim’s “spellbinding” refers to the dual impossibilities faced by postcolonial Korean writers in Japan, who can neither maintain a distance from the Japanese language nor take full and unquestioned ownership of it. This double bind is echoed by the discourse on national allegory, with its simultaneous impulses to avoid reifying the categories of first world and third world as incommensurably “different,” while also combatting a Eurocentric universalism that fails to acknowledge productive, nonessentialist difference. The author examines Kim Sŏkpŏm’s specific solutions to this critical impasse in his works of fiction, particularly Karasu no shi (The Death of a Crow, 1957) and Mandogi yūrei kitan (The Curious Tale of Mandogi’s Ghost, 1970), demonstrating that Kim is able to destabilize the Japanese language of his novels by creating a tension between the main text and the fragments of Korean language embedded within. In this way, Kim carves out a space for the performance of a Korean identity that is ultimately only imaginary, and it is through this process that a potentially empowering identification with an explicitly imagined Korean “nation” can be forged.

Abstract:
Abstract. The study examines the observed storm-generated sea-level oscillations (June 2007 and November 2009) along with the Sumatra geophysical tsunami (September 2007), indicating similarities in the sea-level response in the Mandovi estuary of Goa in the eastern Arabian Sea. Sea-level and surface meteorological measurements collected during storms exhibit strong synoptic disturbances leading to the coherent oscillations in the estuary with significant energy bands centred at periods of 24, 45, and 80 min. In particular, during the sporadic atmospheric event of June 2007, the atmospheric pressure dipped by ~12 mb, the wind direction stabilized to ~249° with peak wind speed up to 16 m s−1 and the positive sea-level surge swelled up by ~40 cm. Also, the water temperature cooled down by ~4.5 °C. Approximately 3 days prior to the 12 September 2007 Sumatra earthquake, the water temperature at Verem station started exhibiting a distinctly stronger semidiurnal oscillation (with a relatively larger variance of ~17.9 °C2 in contrast to a lesser variance of ~12 °C2 during the preceding normal days) and these well-defined oscillations continued to manifest for a week after the earthquake. The pre-earthquake enhanced seawater temperature oscillations observed at this tropical estuary provides an indication that routine monitoring of seawater temperature from tropical estuaries with fine temporal resolution may provide early information about impending coastal earthquakes.

Abstract:
In the introduction to Troubled Waters: Rivers in Latin American Imagination (2013), Elizabeth Pettinaroli and Ana María Mutis have argued that rivers in Latin American literature constitute a “locus for the literary exploration of questions of power, identity, resistance, and discontent.” Many works of testimonial literature and literature of resistance written during and about the Central American civil wars of the 1970s and 1980s as a means of denouncing and resisting various forms of oppression would support their thesis. In the 2004 film Innocent Voices, directed by Luis Mandoki, Mario Bencastro’s 1997 story “Había una vez un río,” and Claribel Alegría’s 1983 poem “La mujer del Río Sumpul,” the traumatic events in the protagonists’ lives that occur in and near rivers create an inversion of the conventional use of rivers as symbols of life, purity, innocence, and re-creation by associating them with violence, death, and destruction. At the same time, the river often becomes a metaphor for the wounds of trauma, which allude to the psychological suffering not only of the protagonists, but to the collective pain of their countries torn asunder by war. Arturo Arias’s 2015 novel El precio del consuelo also features a river as the site of state-sponsored violence against rural citizens during the civil war period. In contrast with Bencastro’s and Alegria’s texts, however, Arias’s novel highlights issues of environmental justice related to the use of rivers in Central America that continue to plague the region to date. In the present essay, I argue that these works are compelling representations of the ways in which rivers have become sites of contestation between colonial and decolonial forces in Central America.
