Abstract:
From 10 to 20 March 2016, Geneva was transformed into a giant musical playground of sorts: the title of this year's Archipel Festival was ‘Aires de jeux’. Over its 24 editions, the festival has been a showcase for musical creation and has promoted not contemporary music in a broad sense, but rather the music of our time. In a recent interview, the current festival director, Marc Texier, noted that a common misunderstanding is to ‘consider contemporary music as beginning in the post-war period, 70 years ago. That's quite extraordinary! The music of 1945 doesn't have much in common with what is created today. For today's composers, works from 1945 belong to their grandparents or great-grandparent's generations’.

Abstract:
In this study the influence of the different fluorescent brightener Periblanc BA concentrations on the degree of knitted cotton fabric whiteness was investigated. Two consecutive experimental runs were performed. The first was the bleaching of the knitted cotton fabric with hydrogen peroxide using the methods of two and single bath exhaustion while the second was the optical bleaching with fluorescent brightener Periblanc BA using the exhaustion method. CIE Whiteness Index and Tint value were measured on the Color-Eye 3000 spectrophotometer at the standard illuminant D65 (Ice-Texicon, d/8, D65/10?) while K/S values were determined using the Kubelka Munk equation. The results show that cotton fabric bleached with fluorescent brightener Periblanc BA after bleaching with hydrogen peroxide using two bath exhaustion method has higher degree of whiteness (118.8) with a reddish tint in comparison to the one bleached with hydrogen peroxide using single bath method (106.1).

Abstract:
In the village of Beşköprü, about five kilometres to the south-west of the town of Adapazari in western Turkey, and just to the north of the main Istanbul–Ankara highway, there stands a large well-constructed bridge; its fabric is generally in good condition apart from the destruction of a short section of the causeway near its eastern end to permit the passage of the branch railway line to Adapazan. Although the bridge now only spans two minor side channels of the small stream called the Çark Deresi, which drains Lake Sophon (modern Sapanca), there is no doubt that the bridge was originally designed on the orders of the emperor Justinian to span the mighty Sangarius (modern Sakarya) which at present flows in a south–north direction about three kilometres to the east of the bridge. The only detailed first-hand account of the bridge is still that by Texier, whose description has to be corrected on some important points.

Abstract:
In NTQ40 (November 1994), in the first of two pieces on modern directorial approaches to the staging of opera as music theatre, Maria Shevtsova discussed Peter Brook's production of Impressions de Pelléas, complementing her own analysis with an interview with one of the leading actor-singers, Vincent Le Texier. Pursuing a similar dual-faceted approach, here she provides a detailed explication of Robert Wilson's production of Madame Butterfly, seen at the Opéra de Paris Bastille in 1993, exploring the ways in which Puccini's original orientalisms are translated and transmuted into a version of intercultural theatre appropriate to our own fin de siècle. Again setting her own views against those of a leading actor-singer – here, Diana Soviero, who played Butterfly – she explores how Wilson's coolly aesthetic, even ascetic style ‘incarnates the century's tentacular, monopolistic tendencies (of which interculturalism in its many guises in the arts are a sign), as well as its polyvalencies (of which the blurring of genres – hybrid genres – is a sign)’. Maria Shevtsova, who teaches in the Department of French Studies in the University of Sydney, earlier contributed a three-part survey of ‘The Sociology of the Theatre’ to NTQ17–19 (1989), and recently published a major collection of essays, Theatre and Cultural Interaction. Her present article forms part of research supported by the Australian Research Council Large Grants Scheme.

Abstract:
Variations in the interatomic distances lead to altered d-band centre for a given metal, and provide an elegant way to control its activity towards (electro)catalytic reactions (“strain-engineering” approach). The effect of strain was rationalized within the frame of the d-band theory of Hammer and Nørskov in the late 1990s [1,2]. The authors predicted that the rate of the sluggish oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) can be enhanced on catalysts binding *OH ca. 0.10 - 0.15 eV more weakly than Pt(111), [1, 2] and this prediction was experimentally verified using a Pt3Ni(111)-skin surface.[3] Nevertheless, these predictions hardly translated to nanomaterials, because of the wide variety of catalytic sites configurations. Also, the d-band theory mostly considers catalytic surfaces in vacuum, without any effect related to the electrical double layer and adsorption/desorption processes. Hence, an in situ picture of how strain develops on Pt-based surfaces is still lacking. In this contribution, we took benefit of recent advances in Bragg Coherent Diffraction Imaging (BCDI) [4, 5]and of the fourth generation Extremely Brilliant Source of the European Synchrotron (ESRF-EBS, Grenoble, France) to map strain over Pt nanoparticles in situ. Our results show that adsorption of anions causes appearance of compressive strain at under-coordinated (edges and corners) atoms and tensile strain at highly-coordinated ({001} and {111} facets) atoms. Strain heterogeneity increases with the electrode potential and reaches as large as 0.08 %. at ORR-relevant potential. These results provide direct insights into the dynamics of Pt nanoparticles in an electrochemical environment, and have direct consequences for electrocatalysis in general, and for ORR electrocatalysis in particular. Abstract:
BackgroundHyperprogression (HPD) has been described in ≃14–26% of NSCLC patients upon single-agent ICI1 and has not been reported upon ICI and platinum-based chemotherapy (PCT) combinations. Both high circulating neutrophils2 and senescent T-cells3 correlated with HPD, however the exact neutrophils-T-cells interplay and the role of specific neutrophils subsets in driving HPD is unknown.MethodsNSCLC patients treated with 1st line ICI as single-agent or in combination with PCT were assessed for HPD and circulating neutrophils’ phenotype. HPD required 3 assessment (2 before ICI, 1 upon ICI) and was defined as delta tumor growth rate (TGR) (TGR upon ICI – TGR before ICI) >50% and/or TGR ratio (TGR upon ICI/TGR before ICI) ≥2. Circulating low density neutrophils (LDNs) subtypes were assessed by flow cytometry on peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PMBCs). LDNs were defined as CD66b+CD15+ cells among CD11b+ PBMCs. Immature subtypes were defined as CD10- LDNs. T-cells were isolated from healthy donors and cocultured with patients‘ LDNs to characterize the neutrophils-T-cells interplay. LDNs subtypes were isolated from patients and treated in-vitro with cisplatin to assess cell death.Results46 NSCLC patients were treated with single-agent ICI and 17 with PCT+ICI (table 1). In the ICI single-agent cohort, PD and HPD occurred in 21 (41%) and 4 (9%) patients. Before ICI start, HPD patients had significantly higher median% of circulating immature CD10- LDNs neutrophils [43.5 (min 29.5; max 82.6) vs 10.3 (min 0.1; max 79.4), p=0.01] compared to PD patients (figure 1). In the ICI-PCT cohort no HPD was reported. 5 patients had baseline CD10- LDNs ≥ 43.5% (median% of CD10- LDNs in HPD patients upon single-agent ICI), 2 of them had stable disease and 3 PD upon ICI-PCT. In these 5 patients, CD10- LDNs significantly decreased during ICI-PCT compared to what observed in HPD patients upon single-agent ICI [median variation -43.4 (min -67.6, max -31.6) vs +6.9 (min -33, max +44), p= 0.03] (figure 2). After 7 days of coculture with T-cells, immature CD10- LDNs significantly reduced T-cells survival and promoted a T-cell senescent phenotype (CD28 loss, CD57 gain) impairing T-cells proliferation and increasing IFN-gamma production (figure 3). Cisplatin treatment significantly increased necrotic cell death among CD10- LDNs compared to CD10+ LDNs (figure 4).Abstract 15 Table 1Patients characteristics in the single-agent ICI and PCT+ICI cohortsAbstract 15 Figure 1Patterns of response, progression and hyperprogression to single-agent ICI and correlation with mature (CD10+) or immature (CD10-) LDNs’ subtypesAbstract 15 Figure 2Neutrophils dynamic variation upon treatment (5 patients with high baseline CD10- LDNs and PD/SD to chemo-ICI vs 4 patients with HPD upon single-agent ICI)Abstract 15 Figure 3Mature (CD10+) and immature (CD10-) LDNs in coculture with T-cells from an healthy donor differently influence CD8 and CD4 T-cells survival, proliferation, IFN-gamma production and expression of a senescent (CD28- CD57+) phenotype.Abstract 15 Figure 4Cisplatin in-vitro treatment at different concentration (1 uM and 5 uM) increases necrotic (7AAD expression) cell death preferentially of immature (CD10-) rather than mature (CD10+) LDNsConclusionsHigher baseline immature CD10- LDNs impair T-cell survival and promote T-cell senescence being a circulating biomarker of HPD upon single-agent ICI. Abstract:
BackgroundHyperprogressive disease (HPD) is a distinct pattern of rapid tumor progression observed in patients with cancer who are undergoing immune checkpoint inhibitor therapy. Despite the growing evidence, a universal definition of HPD remains to be established, and incidence rates vary based on the defining criteria. Therefore, a refinement of currently existing criteria is warranted to better characterize this phenomenon and evaluate its incidence.MethodsTwo independent investigators performed a systematic literature search in EMBASE and MEDLINE using keywords selected in Park et al.1: checkpoint, immunotherapy, pd1, pdl1, ctla4, ipilimumab, nivolumab, pembrolizumab, atezolizumab, avelumab, durvalumab and hyperprogress. Studies published from March 3, 2020 to April 20, 2020 that included the incidence and definition of HPD in patients receiving immunotherapy were included for analysis. Selected studies were then combined with those included in the meta-analysis by Park et al.1 Duplicates were removed, and the study with a larger cohort was selected in instances of overlap between two cohorts. In total, 50 studies were included for meta-analysis.2–51 Pooled incidence rates of HPD and prespecified subgroup analyses based on four categories defining HPD (tumor growth rate ratio, tumor growth kinetics ratio, early tumor burden increase, and combination) were obtained with 95% confidence intervals (CI) using a random effects model performed on R.ResultsA total of 6009 patients from 50 studies were included in the meta-analysis. Incidences varied from 0.0% to 43.1% (figure 1), and the overall pooled incidence of HPD was 12.9% (95%CI, 11.1%–14.7%). Significant heterogeneity was observed (I2= 77%; p<0.01). Studies were also grouped into one of 4 categories (table 1) based on the definition of HPD used to calculate the tumor growth acceleration: tumor growth rate ratio (pooled incidence of HPD 10.5%; 95% CI, 7.9%–13.0%), tumor growth kinetics ratio (pooled incidence, 14.8%; 95% CI, 12.0%–17.5%), early tumor burden increase (pooled incidence, 17.2%; 95% CI, 9.7%–24.7%), and combinations of the above (pooled incidence, 12.2%; 95% CI, 9.2%–15.2%).Abstract 238 Table 1Subgroup analyses based on definitions of HPDAbbreviationTGR, tumor growth rate; TGK, tumor growth kinetics.Abstact 238 Figure 1Overall pooled incidence of HPD. The overall pooled incidence of HPD was 12.9% (95% CI, 11.1%–14.7%). Significant heterogeneity was observed (I2 = 77%; p<0.01).ConclusionsThe overall incidence of HPD from 50 studies was 12.9% (95%CI, 11.1%–14.7%). HPD incidence varied from 0% to 43.1% depending on the definition each investigator chose. There is a growing need for a more uniform definition of HPD that does not underestimate or overestimate its incidence.ReferencesPark HJ, Kim KW, Won SE, et al. Abstract:
The random first order transition theory (RFOT) describing the transition from a supercooled liquid to an ideal glass has been actively developed over the last twenty years. This theory is formulated in a way that allows a description of the transition from the initial equilibrium state to the final metastable state without considering any kinetic processes. The RFOT and its applications for real molecular systems (multicomponent liquids with various intermolecular potentials, gel systems, etc.) are widely represented in English-language sources. However, these studies are practically not described in any Russian sources. This paper presents an overview of the studies carried out in this field. REFERENCES 1. Sanditov D. S., Ojovan M. I. Abstract:
If you type the name Greville Texidor into a Wikipedia search bar, you may be asked if you mean instead ‘grevillea teodor’. Alternatively, you’ll be redirected to biographical websites for Maurice Duggan, one of postwar New Zealand’s most famous short story writers, or Kendrick Smithyman, editor of Greville Texidor’s volume of selected fiction, In Fifteen Minutes You Can Say a Lot. To learn anything about Greville Texidor herself, you need to read All the Juicy Pastures: Greville Texidor and New Zealand, by Wellington-based writer Margot Schwass. Beautifully written, deeply researched, richly illustrated, this critical biography addresses the question of why we should care about the career of a woman writer born in England in 1902, who died by her own hand in Australia in 1964, and who in her lifetime published only seven short stories, a post- Spanish Civil War novella called These Dark Glasses, a few translations of Lorca poems, and a smattering of other non-fiction pieces. Schwass also tackles the question of why we should care about Greville Texidor as a New Zealand writer.

Abstract:
Objective: Precordial catch syndrome was described by Miller and Texidor in 1955. It deserves wider recognition because it is rarely discussed in the differential diagnosis of precordial pain. Case summary: Case characteristics include a young 8-year-old female that presented with 4th episode of chest pain to the hospital. On attempting maneuver like deep breaths slowly in lying down position, pain subsided within 5 minutes although all other modalities of chest pain investigation as electrocardiography, echocardiography, chest high-resolution computed tomography, cardiac enzymes were normal. Discussion and conclusion: Various maneuvers like lying down or sitting upright and attempting deep inspiration tends to help in such conditions. This case report is reporting an unusual presentation of this syndrome due to its long duration of episode than the duration described in the previous reports. Prognosis is good. Key words: precordial catch syndrome, sharp chest pain, sagged posture, Texidor’s twinge, case report

Abstract:
Abstract: Acquittal on Accusation of Environmental Crime: Analysis of Verdict Number No. 781/Pid/B/2009/PN.Cbn. The number of industries has increasead rapidly and caused some problems in the environment. With the help of science and technology, most of industries produce toxic waste which is one of the issues of the environmental crime. This paper will analyse the verdict of Cibinong District Court on accusation of environmental crime to Lee Sang Book, the Director of PT. Roselia Texindo. The company working in textile industry was indicted that he has done water pollution in the River Cikuda, Bogor because he has thrown the toxic waste to the river produced by its industry. The verdict is really interesting because the panel of judges have finally decided that Lee Sang Book is not guilty. Based on facts of the trial, he doesn’t break a law to do the environmental crime which was indicted according to the Law Number 23 Year 2007 in Living Environment. Cibinong District Attorney has submitted the unqualified evidence in examination of waste toxic in laboratorium. Furthermore most witnesses and expert witnessed have argued that Lee Sang Book and PT. Roselia Texindo are innocence and have followed the rule. "About Lanford's theorem in the half-space with specular reflection." Kinetic and Related Models, 2022, 0. http://dx.doi.org/10.3934/krm.2022028.

Full text
Abstract:
<p style='text-indent:20px;'>The present article proposes a rigorous derivation of the Boltzmann equation in the half-space. We show an analog of the Lanford's theorem in this domain, with specular reflection boundary condition, stating the convergence in the low density limit of the first marginal of the density function of a system of N hard spheres towards the solution of the Boltzmann equation associated to the initial data corresponding to the initial state of the one-particle-density function. The original contributions of this work consist in two main points: the rigorous definition of the collision operator and of the functional space in which the BBGKY hierarchy is solved in a strong sense; and the adaptation to the case of the half-space of the control of the recollisions performed by Gallagher, Saint- Raymond and Texier, which is a crucial step to obtain a quantitative version of the Lanford's theorem.</p>
