Abstract:
In the sedimentary coal stratum, rock stratum exhibits layered feature and has an obvious level. Overlying rock often produces separation along the level after the underground coal mining. But, due to the difference in the layers of rocks, the change of the mining process, the difference height in the level and other factors, the rule of separation is extremely complex. Therefore, in this paper, the allometric phenomenon, feature and laws of mining overburden separated strata are found by means of experiment and numerical simulation. The paper reveals the mechanical mechanism of allometric development of overburden separated strata, establishes its development formula based on the theory of beam in the mechanics, analyzing the space-time law of mining subsidence and overburden separation, and finally finds the relationship between surface subsidence and allometric growth of mining overburden separated strata, establishing the subsidence model based on allometric growth of mining overburden separated strata.

Abstract:
Software testing is a process of ratifying the functionality of software. It is a crucial area which consumes a great deal of time and cost. The time spent on testing is mainly concerned with testing large numbers of unreliable test cases. The authors' goal is to reduce the numbers and offer more reliable test cases, which can be achieved using certain selection techniques to choose a subset of existing test cases. The main goal of test case selection is to identify a subset of the test cases that are capable of satisfying the requirements as well as exposing most of the existing faults. The state of practice among test case selection heuristics is cyclomatic complexity and code coverage. The authors used clustering algorithm which is a data mining approach to reduce the number of test cases. Their approach was able to obtain 93 unique effective test cases out a total of 504.

Abstract:
Mechanical mining is a widely used method of separating materials from the face to obtain a useful mineral (e.g., coal, metal ores, salts, and diamonds), to make underground workings (e.g., mine galleries, tunnels, and underground garages), level roads, shape slopes, or to dig ditches. Mechanical mining is applied in the mining branch, tunnelling, road, and construction industries. Depending on the mechanical properties of the rocks, most frequently described by uniaxial compression strength, various machines and tools are used. The methods of mining high-strength abrasive rocks that have been used and developed in recent years are particularly applicable to the mining of copper, gold, tungsten, platinum ores, diamond deposits, and tunnelling. In addition to rock strength, the effectiveness of the mining process is affected by abrasiveness, which influences the rate of abrasive tool wear. Therefore, in various research and development centres, but also in production companies, tools are tested on unique stands. Tests are carried out to determine the cutting resistance and assess the wear rate. This article reviews methods and benches for testing mining tools, conical picks, and discs. Various solutions for testing single tools and cutting heads have been presented. The analysis conducted has revealed that despite the large number and great diversity of different test benches, there are no appropriate methods and stands for testing the wear rate of materials intended for mining tools.

Full text
Abstract:
Combination of coal mining dynamic load and high static stress can easily induce such dynamic disasters as rock burst, coal and gas outburst, roof fall, and water inrush. In order to obtain the characteristic parameters of mining dynamic load and dynamic mechanism of coal and rock, the stress wave theory is applied to derive the relation of mining dynamic load strain rate and stress wave parameters. The in situ test was applied to study the stress wave propagation law of coal mine dynamic load by using the SOS microseismic monitoring system. An evaluation method for mining dynamic load strain rate was proposed, and the statistical evaluation was carried out for the range of strain rate. The research results show that the loading strain rate of mining dynamic load is in direct proportion to the seismic frequency of coal-rock mass and particle peak vibration velocity and is in inverse proportion to wave velocity. The high-frequency component damps faster than the low-frequency component in the shockwave propagating process; and the peak particle vibration velocity has a power functional relationship with the transmitting distance. The loading strain rate of mining dynamic load is generally less than class 10−1/s.

Abstract:
Coal is the primary energy source in China, while underground mining is the mainstream way of coal mining. By triggering surface movement and deformation, underground mining can cause damage to arable land, buildings, roads, and so on, which is detrimental to the ecological environment in the mining area. In order to assess the severity of damage caused by this to the ground buildings and ecological environment in the mining area, it is necessary to predict mining-induced surface subsidence before the mining activities are carried out. Currently, the most used prediction method is the Probability Integral Method. It is based on probabilistic theory to mathematically demonstrate that the surface downwelling caused by underground extraction conforms to normal distribution. However, there is a lack of validation with measured subsidence basin data. Since the 1960s, China has been paying increased attention to the study of mining subsidence. However, there are still few network stations built across China to monitor subsidence basin. Herein, SPSS software is applied to re-analyze these valuable historical data. By analyzing the observation results and comparing them with the calculation results as obtained by using the probability integral method, it can be found out that the surface subsidence in the center of the subsidence basin conforms to normal distribution, not the subsidence at the edge of the subsidence basin. Therefore, it is inevitable for errors to occur at the edge of the subsidence basin when the normal distribution function is used as the mining influence function to calculate the surface subsidence. This conclusion is expected to provide practical reference for the prediction of surface subsidence in coal mines, and this experience can be extended to the mining of other solid minerals.

Abstract:
The fractures in coal and rock mass are the main channels of gas seepage, and understanding the gas migration law during mining is the precondition of gas control. The long-term in-situ monitoring of the abutment pressure, fracture networks and gas-flow in front of a mining face was carried out and the 1-D connectivity ratio of boreholes were calculated. The results showed that under the influence of mining, the fracture networks developed to the depth of rock stratum, and as far-field gas seepage channels, far-field gas continuously supplied the near-field gas. The gas flow in front of the mining face have undergone two stages of evolution from initial value to peak value, and then to a stable value. The 1-D connectivity ratio the abutment pressure about 5 to 10 m. The 1-D connectivity ratio reflected the dergree of coal and rock fracture penetration caused by mining, and the area with the highest gas extraction efficiency was the transition zone from peak abutment pressure to residual pressure in coal seams.

Abstract:
Ordovician limestone in North China coalfield has the characteristics of karst fissure development and strong water yield. Coal mines in North China have been threatened by Ordovician limestone water for a long time. Taking the mining of 32 coal seam in the first eastern mining area of Qianyingzi coal mine in Anhui Province in China as the engineering geological prototype, this paper uses the self-developed fluid solid coupling similarity model test device to carry out the similarity model test of overburden stress and pore water pressure response of coal mining under Ordovician limestone nappe aquifer. Based on the variation law of pore water pressure and overburden stress in a stope, it can be seen that the variation law of pore water pressure in confined aquifer is jointly affected by two factors: the vertical distance between the monitoring point and coal seam and the horizontal distance between the monitoring point and DF200 fault. According to the analysis of experimental results, the maximum height of a water flowing fracture zone in the stope is fifteen times the mining thickness. Compared with the theoretical calculation results of empirical formula, the coupling effect of seepage field and stress field and the geological structure characteristics of the stope promote the development of a water flowing fracture zone. The research results of this paper have important theoretical and practical significance not only for the safe mining of Qianyingzi coal mine but also for the safe mining of the coal mine facing the double threat of roof Ordovician limestone confined aquifer and reverse fault.

With the depletion of shallow metal resources in the land, the development of seabed resources has become a new direction. In order to achieve safe and efficient exploitation of seabed metal mineral resources, a similar simulation test platform was established for seabed mining of metal minerals in this paper. Similar simulation materials and the best material ratios were selected to make simulated specimens. A series of mechanical pressurization devices and model sample were prototyped and submarine simulation mining test was conducted. During the simulation mining test, stress and strain changes and microscopic observations of crack evolution were monitored by the static strain test system. These indicators revealed the characteristics of ore-rock mechanical change in the development of submarine mental resources. By exploring the best safe thickness of seabed resource mining, it provides effective data reference for subsequent seabed resource development, so as to realize safe and efficient mining.

Abstract:
The waste of coal resources, a complicated production process and slow mining speed seriously restrict the rapid development of longwall mining. To achieve effective mining, an innovative noncoal pillar mining approach (i.e., Gob-side Entry Retaining by Roof Cutting (GERRC)) was introduced. The mechanism of the GERRC approach and its three key technologies (i.e., roof support technology, directional presplit cumulative blasting technology and surrounding rock control technology) were studied by theoretical analysis, numerical simulation, laboratory and field experiments. The new approach was finally tested under medium-thick coal seam and compound roof conditions. The results show that the directional presplit cumulative blasting technology can effectively control the damage evolution in the roof rock, maintain the integrity of the entry roof and contribute the gob roof to the cave in time. The support technologies in different roof movement stages can control the entry surroundings, and the final section of the retained entry met the safety production requirements. The test results suggested that the proposed approach for coal effective mining is feasible, and the introduced key technologies and design methods potentially produce reasonable values for applications of pillarless mining in similar projects.

Abstract:
Identifying the spatial range of mining disturbance on vegetation is of significant importance for the plan of environmental rehabilitation in mining areas. This paper proposes a method to identify the spatial range of mining disturbance (SRMD). First, a non-linear and quantitative relationship between driving factors and fractional vegetation cover (FVC) was constructed by geographically weighted artificial neural network (GWANN). The driving factors include precipitation, temperature, topography, urban activities, and mining activities. Second, the contribution of mining activities (Wmine) to FVC was quantified using the differential method. Third, the virtual contribution of mining activities (V-Wmine) to FVC during the period without mining activity was calculated, which was taken as the noise in the contribution of mining activities. Finally, the SRMD in 2020 was identified by the significance test based on the Wmine and noise. The results show that: (1) the mean RMSE and MRE for the 11 years of the GWANN in the whole study area are 0.0526 and 0.1029, which illustrates the successful construction of the relationship between driving factors and FVC; (2) the noise in the contribution of mining activities obeys normal distribution, and the critical value is 0.085 for the significance test; (3) most of the SRMD are inside the 3 km buffer with an average disturbance distance of 2.25 km for the whole SRMD, and significant directional heterogeneity is possessed by the SRMD. In conclusion, the usability of the proposed method for identifying SRMD has been demonstrated, with the advantages of elimination of coupling impact, spatial continuity, and threshold stability. This study can serve as an early environmental warning by identifying SRMD and also provide scientific data for developing plans of environmental rehabilitation in mining areas.

Abstract:
1. General. Mining claim disputes in Ontario usually arise where a restaker attempts to dispute the validity of a claim under the provisions of the Mining Act. 2. Staking and Recording Requirements. Most mining claim disputes turn on whether there has been substantial compliance with the statutory staking requirements. A number of rules of thumb have evolved to assist the Mining Commissioner in making his decision as to whether there has been substantial compliance. These include the purpose test, the cumulative errors test, the reasonable excuse test, the equitable approach, the application of different staking standards and different circumstances, and classification of the seriousness of errors. The text also contains a discussion of the statutory staking and recording requirements. 3. Procedural Requirements in Disputes and Appeals. Staking disputes are ordinarily heard at first instance by the Mining Recorder, and then by the Mining Commissioner on appeal. The decisions of the Mining Commissioner may be appealed to the Divisional Court, a branch of the Supreme Court of Ontario. Specific emphasis is placed on the strictness of the time limits under the statute.

Abstract. In addition to carbon, oxygen, hydrogen and nitrogen, fossil fuels contain other chemical elements, some of which may be hazardous to human health and the environment. Mercury and its compounds are one of the most dangerous among them. Therefore, information about mercury contents in coals and products of their processing is extremely important for both mining and processing enterprises and consumers. Mercury compounds may be accumulated in coal mining and processing wastes, and if they transfer into water-soluble forms, may lead to damaging of the environment. In the view of above, a standard method for the determination of mercury content has been developed, which is applicable not only to coals and products of their processing, but also to coal mining and combustion wastes. Also, to control the correctness of measurements by the developed method, reference samples with a certified mercury contents were developed.

Abstract:
The main functions of a three-dimensional test device for simulating rock formations and surface movement affected by underground coal mining were described in detail, and a series of similar related tests were carried out. The device consisted of an outer frame, a pressurization unit, a pulling unit, and a coal seam simulation portion. Using this test device, supported by monitoring methods such as the three-dimensional laser scanner method, a model test study on the surface subsidence characteristics caused by coal seam mining was carried out. Combined with the field measurements, the transfer law of surface subsidence caused by coal seam mining was revealed, and the whole surface subsidence response process was analyzed. The experimental results show that the subsidence caused by mining disturbances below the coal seam accounts for 79.3% of the total subsidence, which is the dominant factor of the total surface subsidence. After long-term surface observations, surface subsidence can be divided into four stages after coal mining, and the settlement value of the obvious settlement stage accounts for more than 60% of the total settlement value. The above test results fully reflect the feasibility and practicality of the three-dimensional test device to simulate rock strata and surface movement and provide a new experimental research tool that can be used to further study the surface subsidence characteristics and control caused by coal mining.

Abstract:
The present paper attempts to analyse the households' dependency on community forest for their livelihood and food security in the mining region of Odisha. Mining has caused the highest forest-land loss in Odisha. Using z-test, f-test, and t-test, it has been found that extraction of minerals has not only caused shifting of livelihood from forest-based to mining related work but also has significantly reduced the dependence of households on forest products for consumption. In addition, it has reduced the contribution of forest to food security as calorie intake from forest food is significantly less in mining households than their non-mining counterparts. As the life span of a mine is finite, what will happen when the mines close? Thus, this calls for a policy intervention to carry out mining operations in a sustainable manner so that natural resources like forest are not sacrificed for short-term economic gains.

Abstract:
The 110 mining method is a high-efficiency entry-retaining technology without coal pillars or filling materials. At present, there is no precedent for its application in the Huaneng Group. In order to introduce this technology, it is planned to carry out experimental application research in the Yuwang NO.1 Coal Mine of the Huaneng Diandong mining area. The Yuwang NO.1 Coal Mine is a typical coal and gas outburst mine with a coal seam group. In view of the introduction of the 110 mining method under these conditions, first, the geological conditions of the Yuwang NO.1 Coal Mine in the Huaneng Diandong mining area are analyzed, the geological characteristics of the test mining face are summarized, and the practical feasibility of the 110 mining method is analyzed according to the geological characteristics of “one soft, one low, two high, and two complex”. Then, according to the engineering experience, calculations, and analysis, the key parameters of roof cutting of the test mining face in the Yuwang NO.1 Coal Mine are obtained, and with the help of a numerical simulation, the roof-cutting height, the roof-cutting angle, and the blasting parameters are numerically simulated and analyzed. The roof-cutting key parameters of the test face are obtained as follows: the roof-cutting depth is 7 m, the roof-cutting angle is 15°, and the blasting method is continuous hole blasting with 500 mm spacing. After that, according to the coal and gas outburst and the occurrence conditions of coal seams in the Yuwang NO.1 Coal Mine, a variety of gob closure design schemes and gob gas drainage design schemes are put forward, and the field effect investigation scheme is given. After the tunnels and open-off cut of the test coal mine’s first mining face are connected, under the guidance of the above research results, the field blasting test and the 110 mining method entry-retaining test are further carried out to verify the rationality of the design of the roof-cutting parameters and the feasibility of the gangue wall closure and gas drainage design. Furthermore, in the process of the field practice, continuous research is carried out on the stope pressure law and the adjacent layer gas drainage technology under the 110 mining method, and finally, the 110 mining method application technology system in the Diandong Mining Area is formed.

Abstract:
This paper studies and introduces the successful case of gob-side entry retaining technology and the typical mining pressure law in Luan mining area, which is the main mining coal seam in Qinshui coalfield. Qinshui coalfield has an estimated coal reserve of 300 billion tons, accounting for 9.58% of the total national coal reserve in China, especially anthracite, chemical coal, and coking coal. The methods of field investigation, theoretical analysis, physical experiment, and industrial test are adopted. Through the field investigation, theoretical analysis, physical experiments, and industrial test, the following conclusions have been drawn in this study: (1) A thorough engineering geological investigation was conducted on the entry retaining along the gob side on noncoal pillar mining working face, which covers multiple periods of mining process including the roadway excavation period, primary mining period, primary mining stability period, and secondary mining influence period. A series of analysis and tests were conducted such as core sampling, rock mechanics property testing, borehole detection, and flexible formwork support evaluation, which laid a foundation for identifying the mining pressure law of gob-side entry retaining by using noncoal pillar mining. (2) The mining pressure law was studied through the collection of the field measurements taken from the entry retaining along the gob side on noncoal pillar mining working face. The keys to achieve the roadway surrounding rock stability through noncoal pillar mining are obtained. According to the study, the stability control of retained roadway surrounding rock mainly depends on the stability of top coal, coal side, and shoulder angle coal. (3) In this study, a roadway reinforcement scheme is proposed to improve the surrounding rock control technology for gob-side entry retaining by noncoal pillar mining, whose effectiveness has been verified by a series of industrial test. Therefore, the wide adoption of the noncoal pillar mining method in Number #3 coal mine can significantly relieve the predicament of coal pressing under a large number of buildings in Luan mining area, which provides insightful guidance to the coal-free pillar mining in the whole Luan mining area.

Software testing is used to find bugs in the software to provide a quality product to the end users. Test suites are used to detect failures in software but it may be redundant and it takes a lot of time for the execution of software. In this article, an enormous number of test cases are created using combinatorial test design algorithms. Attribute reduction is an important preprocessing task in data mining. Attributes are selected by removing all weak and irrelevant attributes to reduce complexity in data mining. After preprocessing, it is not necessary to test the software with every combination of test cases, since the test cases are large and redundant, the healthier test cases are identified using a data mining techniques algorithm. This is healthier and the final test suite will identify the defects in the software, it will provide better coverage analysis and reduces execution time on the software.

Abstract:
In the process of conveying coarse-grained minerals, the internal flow-through passage components of mining pumps are subject to wear. The flow of coarse particles in such pumps is complex and changes constantly, making it necessary to study the non-steady-state wear characteristics and test the flow passage components. The evolution of the surface wear rate for the flow passage components during one third of a rotation cycle (120°) of a mining pump impeller with small, design, and large flow rates was analyzed in this study based on a discrete phase model (DPM). The flow that occurs during an entire rotation cycle of the impeller was investigated. The wear test was carried out with a small test pump with the same specific speed as and a similar structure to that of the deep-sea mining pump. The test results were compared with the numerical calculation results of the deep-sea mining pump obtained by using the same numerical calculation method and wear model, and the test wear area was found to be more consistent with the numerical calculation wear area. The results show that the numerical calculation method used in this article can more accurately predict the surface wear of the passage components of the mining pump and provides a suitable method for the prediction of the wear characteristics of the mining pump.
