Uruski, Chris. "Exploring New Zealand's marine territory." APPEA Journal 51, no. 1 (2011): 549. http://dx.doi.org/10.1071/aj10039.

Abstract:
Around the end of the twentieth century, awareness grew that, in addition to the Taranaki Basin, other unexplored basins in New Zealand’s large exclusive economic zone (EEZ) and extended continental shelf (ECS) may contain petroleum. GNS Science initiated a program to assess the prospectivity of more than 1 million square kilometres of sedimentary basins in New Zealand’s marine territories. The first project in 2001 acquired, with TGS-NOPEC, a 6,200 km reconnaissance 2D seismic survey in deep-water Taranaki. This showed a large Late Cretaceous delta built out into a northwest-trending basin above a thick succession of older rocks. Many deltas around the world are petroleum provinces and the new data showed that the deep-water part of Taranaki Basin may also be prospective. Since the 2001 survey a further 9,000 km of infill 2D seismic data has been acquired and exploration continues. The New Zealand government recognised the potential of its frontier basins and, in 2005 Crown Minerals acquired a 2D survey in the East Coast Basin, North Island. This was followed by surveys in the Great South, Raukumara and Reinga basins. Petroleum Exploration Permits were awarded in most of these and licence rounds in the Northland/Reinga Basin closed recently. New data have since been acquired from the Pegasus, Great South and Canterbury basins. The New Zealand government, through Crown Minerals, funds all or part of a survey. GNS Science interprets the new data set and the data along with reports are packaged for free dissemination prior to a licensing round. The strategy has worked well, as indicated by the entry of ExxonMobil, OMV and Petrobras into New Zealand. Anadarko, another new entry, farmed into the previously licensed Canterbury and deep-water Taranaki basins. One of the main results of the surveys has been to show that geology and prospectivity of New Zealand’s frontier basins may be similar to eastern Australia, as older apparently unmetamophosed successions are preserved. By extrapolating from the results in the Taranaki Basin, ultimate prospectivity is likely to be a resource of some tens of billions of barrels of oil equivalent. New Zealand’s largely submerged continent may yield continent-sized resources.

[fr] The geographical records and territory awareness in time of Philip II. The Relaciones Topográficas that were compiled during the reign of Philip II are a primary source of territory awareness. This compilation of data is made up of the answers to a survey designed by Court choniclers, cosmographers and civil servants; answers given by people from over hundred villages belonging to the Crown of Castille. These surveys were carried out both in mainland Spain and in America. The author of this paper studies the survey origins, its structure, possibilities and, most importantly, its influence on other secondary sources which were already used as censuses apart from including knowledge of the territory.

Abstract:
Ionospheric plasma irregularities or bubbles, that are regions with depleted density, are generated at the magnetic equator after sunset due to plasma instabilities, and as they move upward they map along the magnetic field lines to low latitudes. To analyse the temporal and spatial evolution of the bubbles over Brazilian territory, the mapping of ionospheric plasma bubbles for the night of 17/18 March 2002 was generated using data collected from one GPS receiver array, and applying interpolation techniques. The impact on the performance of Global Navigation Satellites System (GNSS) and on the Space Based Augmentation System (SBAS) in the tropical regions of the GPS signal losses of lock and of the signal amplitude fades during ionospheric irregularities is presented.

Abstract:
The article analyzes the process of brand creation in small towns of the Russian Federation on the basis of expert survey data. The data obtained allow us to identify the main reasons for branding territories, the main customers and developers of city brands. As the survey showed, more than half of all brands are created free of charge or for very little money. On the other hand, there are territories where the creation of a brand turned out to be a financially costly event. The initiator of the brand creation in most cases is the municipal government.

Full text
Abstract:
The erosion of old-growth forests in boreal managed landscapes is a major issue currently faced by forest managers; however, resolving this problem requires accurate surveys. The intention of our study was to determine if historic operational aerial forest surveys accurately identified boreal old-growth forests in Quebec, Canada. We first compared stand successional stages (even-aged vs. old-growth) in two aerial surveys performed in 1968 (preindustrial aerial survey) and 2007 (modern aerial survey) on the same 2200 km2 territory. Second, we evaluated the accuracy of the modern aerial survey by comparing its results with those of 74 field plots sampled in the study territory between 2014 and 2016. The two aerial surveys differed significantly; 80.8% of the undisturbed stands that were identified as “old-growth” in the preindustrial survey were classified as “even-aged” in the modern survey, and 60% of the stands identified as “old-growth” by field sampling were also erroneously identified as “even-aged” by the modern aerial survey. The scarcity of obvious old-growth attributes in boreal old-growth forests, as well as poorly adapted modern aerial survey criteria (i.e., criteria requiring high vertical stratification and significant changes in tree species composition along forest succession), were the main factors explaining these errors. It is therefore likely that most of Quebec’s boreal old-growth forests are currently not recognized as such in forest inventories, challenging the efficacy of sustainable forest management policies.

Full text
Abstract:
Leadbeater’s possum (Gymnobelideus leadbeateri) is a cryptic, endangered species that is notoriously difficult to detect using conventional mammal survey methods. However, the imitation of the species’ social contact and/or alarm calls has previously been found to attract resident animals. Call imitation was employed as a secondary survey method to confirm ongoing site occupancy by Leadbeater’s possum at Yellingbo Nature Conservation Reserve. All call imitation reported here was conducted at sites currently or previously known to be occupied by particular family groups. The results indicate that the method has considerable promise as a tool to facilitate broad-scale surveys targeting this species. However, ‘false negatives’ did occur during the surveys at Yellingbo, highlighting that additional testing is required to adequately characterise the species’ response patterns, in particular variation in the response rate in occupied territories and the distance over which animals will respond. A detailed understanding of these factors is essential to permit reliable interpretation of survey findings.

Abstract. The study examines the numerous medieval fortified sites that are in ruins throughout the Sicilian territory. Their landscape and historical value is significant, but they are unfortunately abandoned, not in stable conditions and often no metrically reliable graphic representation exists. The methodology we chose required a combined 3D survey campaign and data processing aimed at obtaining 2D and 3D drawings, as well as a virtual reality application to provide knowledge and virtual fruition of the sites. The entire experimental procedure was optimised to provide multi-scalar readings of the sites under investigation, that include their details, the location, territory, and landscape. The article presents the results of a case study carried out on the Maletto Castle in Sicily (Italy).

Abstract:
The article presents the results of a study of the current radiation situation at the uranium legacy site located in the territory of the Bambakai Valley (Transbaikal Territory), formed in the period from 1973 to 1989 due to the discharge of mine water. During the radiation survey, the method of pedestrian gamma survey was used to measure the ambient dose equivalent rate. Soil sampling was carried out to study the radionuclide specific activities in the soil. The activity of gamma-emitting radionuclides in the samples was measured with a stationary gamma spectrometer. The activities of 210Po and 210Pb were measured after their radiochemical extraction from samples. It was found that the values of ambient dose equivalent rate in the territory of the valley varied over the wide range from 0.1 to 1.4 µSv/h in the areas under manmade contamination. The estimated average value of the gamma background for this place is 0.14±0.02 µSv/h. The specific activities of 238U, 226Ra, 235U, 210Pb and 210Po in the surface 10-cm soil layer at the site are from 10-40 times higher than the background values. The most part of radionuclides in the soil is in the acid-soluble form. Effective doses of the workers involved in hay harvesting in the area of the fallow land do not exceed 1.5 µSv/year. Doses of terrestrial environmental media (grass, earthworms) are 100 and more times lower than the safe level of exposure to biota.

Abstract:
A “combined” method of practical research has been developed as part of a non-technical survey of a territory likely contaminated with explosive objects, which will reduce the time of such survey and reduce the risk of injury to personnel of pyrotechnic units due to the absence of physical contact of personnel with the likely contaminated territory. A mathematical model of a “combined” method for practical research of a supposedly contaminated territory with explosive objects during non-technical inspection has been developed. The mathematical model was obtained from the results of collecting indirect evidence, where the status of an explosive object is not determined. A control algorithm for implementing the “combined” proposed method has been developed, which takes into account the area of the suspicious dangerous territory, which is examined by one non-technical survey group based on the collection of direct and indirect evidence. In addition, when constructing the algorithm, indicators such as the number of groups, the level and type of their equipment were taken into account. The algorithm consists of 12 blocks located at 7 hierarchical levels and connected by direct and feedback connections. When determining the area to be cleared of explosive objects, the area of the territory that has received confirmation of the status of a dangerous zone and the area of the territory of a confirmed dangerous zone are taken into account when checking indirect evidence of a possibly contaminated territory by excluding this territory from the total area of a possibly contaminated territory. The implementation of the proposed method (due to visualization of the area in a 3-D projection with the determination of the exact geographical coordinates of local and general zones of the dangerous territory) will reduce the time of non-technical inspection by 3.9 times, as well as reduce the time of complete demining and clearing land from explosive objects, increase the level of security for civilians in cleared areas.

Abstract:
According to the World Health Organization, as many as 25% of traffic accidents are linked to alcohol abuse. This study describes the results of a nine-year study performed on injured drivers ( N = 12,806) in the Verona area of Northern Italy. Blood samples were mandatorily collected on injured drivers who were admitted to the Emergency Health Care Unit of Verona Hospital between 2009 and 2017, after they had been involved in a traffic accident. Blood alcohol concentration (BAC) determination was then undertaken using a validated head space–gas chromatography–flame ionisation detector (HS-GC-FID) method. We found that 21% of drivers tested positive for alcohol (BAC ≥0.01 g/L), while 16.8% presented with BAC levels above the Italian legal limit (>0.5 g/L). Of those who had positive BACs, about 50% presented with very high BAC levels (>1.5 g/L). Daily time distribution analyses, involving 2031 alcohol-positive drivers, showed a surge between 18:00 hours and 06:00 hours (74.3%), with a specific rise during the weekend (58.9%). The percentage of alcohol-related road accidents was 20.6%, which is lower than results reported in other international studies performed over the last 20 years. However, evidence that around 50% of the positive subjects showed a BAC >1.5 g/L confirms the correlation between BAC and accident risk, which becomes even more significant at progressively increasing levels of BAC. The study highlights the need to implement further strategies to both prevent and deter the use of alcohol while driving.

Abstract:
The quality of thematic mapping mostly depends on the representativeness of the field survey of the territory. In large-scale mapping geostatistical techniques can be used to design survey spatial sampling. In medium-scale mapping, the sampling scheme is traditionally based on experience, common views about the thematic diversity of the territory and available cartographic data. In the digital map-ping of thematic variables secondary data is used. There are mainly remote sensing data and derivatives of a digital elevation model. Spatial extrapolation of thematic information of points is somehow connected with the use of distance measures between studied and unstudied points in the space of secondary variables. This measure is proposed to be used as a numerical measure of the survey quality of the entire mapping space. This article provides numerical experiments to illustrate the behavior of this index, as well as proposes possible ways of using the index to control fieldwork in order to improve the spatial model of thematic variables.

Abstract:
Aerial surveys have been used as a method for surveying boreal-nesting shorebirds, which breed in difficult-to-access terrain; however, the fraction of breeding birds observed from the air is unknown. We investigated rates of detection by conducting simultaneous air and ground surveys for shorebirds at three sites in the boreal forest of the Northwest Territories, Canada, in 2007. Helicopter surveys included both pond-based surveys where the helicopter flew around the perimeter of each wetland and transect-based surveys where observers recorded birds seen on line transects. Ground surveys involved intensive observation, territory mapping and nest searching in 5 km2 of plots over a period of 5-6 weeks. Shorebird densities observed from the helicopter were highest near large bodies of water. No shorebirds were observed over closed forest despite breeding densities on ground surveys being highest in closed forest. Detection rates were very low, varied among species and aerial survey types, and were inconsistent over time. Ground-based observations showed that the shorebirds often did not flush in response to the helicopter passing overhead. Owing to poor rates of detection, we conclude that helicopter surveys are not an appropriate method for surveying breeding shorebirds in boreal habitats, but may have some utility for monitoring birds' use of stop-over locations.

In recent years, the old-age dependency ratio and the aging degree in China have intensified. This paper aims to conduct correlation analysis and interpretation of the social space territoriality and its territory demand characteristics of the elderly group in target facilities in Xiamen, China, through the method of design demand satisfaction questionnaire survey, so as to explore the effect. Through the results of importance and IPA analysis, the satisfaction degree of the elderly group to the facility social space design is evaluated, and the design improvement direction that meets the social space territory demands of the elderly group is put forward. The survey results reflect that there is shortage in the satisfaction degree of social space and its territory demand in target facilities, and the physical environment planning of the facilities needs to be subject to territory demand adjustment.

The study was carried out by purposive sampling method, where altogether ten plots were laid of size 8.92m radii and measured diameter at breast height (DBH) (1.3m) and angle of inclination was taken from 5m horizontal distance from the tree pole. The calculation was made following the equation given by Chave et al., 2005 for wet forests. In total 17 species of trees were reported with the dominant species Dalbergia sissoo followed by Corymbia citriodora based on DBH and population density. The total carbon stored by trees inside the territory of MMC, Nepalgunj was 76.44 tons per hectare which is approximately 1/3rd of the world’s tropical forest average carbon stock. It implies the importance of trees outside the forest in carbon sequestration and balancing carbon emissions. Further estimation of carbon dioxide emitted from the territory, by different carbon emitters inside the area is recommended.

Abstract:
We conducted a broad-scale aerial survey between 20 August and 12 October 2001 to ascertain the distribution and abundance of feral camels in the southern part of the Northern Territory. There was a minimum of 80 533 feral camels in the Northern Territory at the time of the survey. This figure is corrected for perception bias (a result of observers missing animals that are potentially visible), but not for availability bias (a result of some animals being concealed from the observers). The population of feral camels in the Northern Territory increased at a mean annual exponential rate, r, of 0.093 between 1993 and 2001. This represents an increase of ~10% per year or an approximate doubling in population size every 8 years. This trend is likely to continue for the foreseeable future. We use the results of an earlier survey (which included the Northern Territory, South Australia and Western Australia) to give a minimum figure of 300 000 feral camels for Australia in 2001. We discuss what is known of the impacts of feral camels in Australia, the inadequacy of current management practices and issues to be considered in designing an effective long-term management strategy for the species.

Abstract:
The present work aims to study the specificity of applying sociological methods in organising coastal areas. In the autumn of 2020, in the framework of this work, a sociological study of urban space per-ception by its inhabitants was carried out. The object of research comprises the territory of the Top Embankment of the Angara River in Irkutsk (Lisikha district) as an element of the urban environment, where groups and communities of Irkutsk citizens cohabit, having different visions of the same territo-ry. Data acquisition was carried out using a questionnaire. People permanently residing on the territory of Irkutsk were selected as respondents. The survey showed that the state of the recreational space at the Top Embankment area of Irkutsk – the least developed part of the Angara river embankment – is low rated by residents. As a basic concept of territory development, citizens prefer a stepwise space transformation that includes zones for pedestrians and cyclists. Furthermore, landscape gardening, building sport zones and facilities increasing the recognition of the territory attract district residents. Thus, the study allowed the citizen preferences to be identified to design a reconstruction project of the Top Embankment territory at the Angara river in the Lisikha district of Irkutsk. Urban design that considers the opinion of citizens is a modern trend, which meets the challenges of the time and re-flects the concepts and principles of urban planning nowadays.

Abstract:
We evaluated winter-territory mapping as a method for estimating fisher (Martes pennanti) density in a 210-km2 survey area in north-central Massachusetts in 1994 and 1995 by comparing estimates with simultaneous camera mark–resight estimates. Assuming intrasexual territoriality and accounting for all occupied habitat, territories of resident radio-marked fishers were mapped (mean = 54% of all territories in the study area), and those of unmarked resident fishers were identified from tracks and photographs. The total number indicated a population of 40 (19/100 km2) and 49 (23/100 km2) residents for 1994 and 1995, respectively. Results from replicated automatic-camera capture–mark–resight surveys suggested slightly higher total numbers and densities of fishers in 1994 (44.5; 21/100 km2) and 1995 (52.9; 25/100 km2), but these estimates likely also included nonresident juveniles. Territory mapping and automatic-camera mark–resight methods resulted in very similar population estimates, but both require large numbers of radio-marked fishers to effectively detect small population changes (e.g., such as the 20% observed in this study). Individually marking animals would enhance mark–recapture estimates.

Abstract:
Background Demographers have studied minority populations for many years, but relatively little attention has been paid to sexual minority groups. Population estimates for sexual minorities would be useful as denominators for a range of health and socioeconomic indicators, to monitor representation in employment, assist budget planning and inform the marketing of goods and services. Aim The aim of this paper is to present some approximate estimates of the non-heterosexual adult population of Australia in mid-2016 by sex, broad age group and state and territory. Data and methods Data on sexual identity were sourced from three nationally representative surveys: the Household Income and Labour Dynamics in Australia survey, the second Australian Study of Health and Relationships and the ABS General Social Survey. Use was made also of 2016 ABS Census of Population and Housing (Census) data and Estimated Resident Populations. Prevalence rates of the non-heterosexual population aged 18+ were averaged over the three surveys and multiplied by ERP to obtain national population estimates. Census data on same-sex couples were used to distribute the national estimates by state and territory. Results Australia’s non-heterosexual population aged 18+ in 2016 is estimated to have been 592,000, representing about 3.2% of the adult population. New South Wales is home to the largest non-heterosexual population (about 204,000) and the Northern Territory the smallest (4,700), while the highest prevalence is in the Australian Capital Territory (5.1%). Conclusions Australia’s non-heterosexual population is a relatively small population, but its prevalence varies considerably by age and sex and between states and territories. Estimates of this population should prove useful for monitoring health and wellbeing and for a variety of planning and policy purposes.

Abstract:
Problem statement. Ground-penetrating radar tests as a component of territory geophysical investigations are also used in the historical reconstruction − in our case, on the site of the Church of the Nativity of the Virgin in the village of Mala Petrikyvka (Dnipropetrovsk region). A ground-penetrating radar survey was conducted, preceded by a thorough critical analysis of historical sources. Measurements were done using MALA GPR with operating frequencies of 250 MHz and limited to 800 MHz. The purpose of the article. In order to critically reviewing the historical myth that existed for a long time around this architectural monument of the 18th-19th centuries, it was necessary to uncover underground cavities, as well as to conduct a search for hidden ancient structures both in the areas adjacent to the church building and directly inside the church itself. Conclusions. As a result of the conducted research, the features of surface and buried building structures attributed to the dry and moistened loess soils of this territory on GPR profiles were revealed. In areas of moistened loess soil, any objects at working depths at a frequency of 250 MHz were not displayed by the device − due to a high degree of signal attenuation. GPR profiles of this area did not reveal any significant anomalies, which indicate the presence of fairly voluminous linear underground structures, which is confirmed by the survey of the adjacent territory. The conducted investigations can be considered only primary and involve further, more detailed, studies on selected areas, including inside the building itself. Since it was not possible to find information about the previously performed ground-penetrating radar surveys on the territory of the church and the surrounding area, the surveys carried out by PSACEA can be considered the first of their kind. They are especially valuable in view of the fact that a complete restoration of the temple is planned.

Abstract:
Region’s media image modelling is a very topical problem of the information age from the view of productive functioning of territories, their socio-economic and political status. The article presents the role of values in the media image structure, analyzes axiological components of the Transbaikal Territory media image, and shows its cultural and content characteristics. Research findings are based on some data from a sociological survey carried out in 2021, where 911 residents of the region of different ages (20 to 68) took part, as well as the results of a survey of 48 regional journalists from different communication channels. The attention is paid to the conceptual component of the Region Media Image, as well as to the special role of the actor of multimedia content.Typological and cognitive analyses allowed us to identify the empirical material and present it as a system of cultural and historical dominant ideas. Major characteristics of media image axiology are based on linguocultural approach, emphasizing the values of traditional culture. Media image axiology presents a triple-stage system with its regional specific features, distinct content including spiritual and moral, cultural and historical, and natural values. Spiritual and moral priorities reflect region’s mental view of the world and focus on the values of labour, kindness, grace, sincerity and patriotism, preservation of family values, faith in justice. Cultural and historical context is enriched by the folk heroes of the past and present, traditions, beliefs and customs. Coronavirus pandemic made actors of information flows focus on natural resources of Transbaikalia. During the study, we revealed a correlation between the axiological instrumentation of designing the media image of the region and the level of influence of the media discourse on the consumer, between the spiritual and moral picture of the author’s view of the world and the demand for media products by the audience. We justify the need to adjust the work of regional journalists with a texture inherent in modelling the media image of the region. The authors make a conclusion that, on the one hand, a productive media image is designed using values and ideals characteristic of the territory, on the other hand, the cultural and historical space of the region is a tool for necessary identification with a place of residence, a link between generations and residents of the region.

Abstract:
ITRFs and ITRF like reference frames have a drawback that limits or makes its wide use difficult while surveying in the Russian Federation. These are significant velocities of changing geodetic stations’ coordinates throughout the entire territory. It leads to necessity of reducing reference geodetic stations and survey points positions from reference epoch to observation ones and vice versa. To avoid this necessity for the most of surveys in the Russian Federation territory, a transformation model [1] of relative behaviour of GSK-2011 and ITRF-2014 reference frames was created. Unfortunately, the model does not work properly in the Far East. That is why in this paper a new, regional transformation model that represent relative behaviour of GSK-2011 and ITRF-2014 reference frames in the territory was described. As it was shown in the paper, the result is equivalent to setting a new, auxiliary version of GSK-2011 reference frame in the Far East territory – GSK-2011-FE, that has no drawbacks of ITRF-like systems. Both frames coincide with each other at the reference epoch t0 and relate by a transformation of angular motion at an epoch t.

Abstract:
During 2018–2019 in the historical and cultural reserve «Ancient Plisnesk» on the territory of the site of archeology of national significance «Ancient settlement of the chronicle city of Plisnesk of the III–XIII centuries» for the first time, the experimental methodological magnetometry observations were conducted to study the possibilities of the magnetic surveys in studies of archaeological objects of this site. The paper analyzes the results of areal magnetometric survey using proton magnetometers with an observation grid of 0,5×1 m with a total area of 0,252 ha in two sections – in the western part of tract «Vysoke Gorodysko» and in the southeastern part of tract «Zamchysko». On the basis of the received magnetometric data graphs of magnetic field and plans of isolines with different detailing are constructed. In the anomalous picture of the residual magnetic field, alternating magnetic anomalies with an intensity of several tens of nT have been identified, which are confined to structures and production facilities, which is confirmed by the results of archaeological excavations. The spatial features of the anomalous magnetic field revealed a number of negative linear anomalies that mark the locations of ancient archaeological excavations. In order to research and establish the specifics of the planning structure of the settlements of the Slavic and Old Russian periods, the old archaeological excavations revealed on the territory of the Plisnesk archaeological complex, it is extremely necessary to expand the territory of magnetometric survey to a large area. Highlighted anomalous search criteria for archaeological objects in a magnetic field indicate the high efficiency of magnetometry and the expediency of its use in the future for identifying and outlining ground or buried structures of residential, economic, industrial and even fortifications of a wide chronological range before archaeological excavations in the territory of the Plisnesk archaeological complex and similar sites of the Slavic and Old Russian periods. Abstract:
The level of positive migration aspirations of the population is determined by the unfavorable socio-economic environment and ineffective management of territory development, in particular the level of deprivation, including labor, security and living conditions. The paper aims to assess the impact of different components of deprivation on the spread of migration aspirations and create the landscape of a territory migration capacity. The methodological tool of the study is a sociological survey (a case study of Lviv Oblast, Ukraine) using a questionnaire (self-administration), which covered more than 500 people. Processing of results is carried out using SPSS software. The results of the sociological survey across migration vectors show the cause-effect relation between positive external aspirations and deprivation components. According to the assessment, the EU countries vector (72.0%) has the highest level of positive migration aspirations by income deprivation, and domestic migration vector – the lowest level (41.0%). The highest deprivation levels among socio-economic, environmental, and medical-demographical conditions for ineffective management of Lviv Oblast was detected for educational services with the level of 3.6 out of 5 possible, moderate level – for living and environmental conditions (2.9 each), and the lowest one for medical services (2.7). The spread of deprivation components at the territory according to the level of positive migration aspirations analysis shown that the highest deprivation levels in Lviv Oblast are peculiar to components such as the quality of medical services (43.4%), income (36.5%), and living conditions (35.1%). This study is of practical value for forming landscape of territory migration capacity including weighed migration aspirations and socio-economic deprivation levels. Purpose The purpose of this study was to define the information currently collected by state and territory Early Hearing Detection and Intervention (EHDI) coordinators and to determine whether best practice guidelines are used. Method A multiple-choice electronic survey querying areas of diagnostic assessment, amplification, early intervention (EI) and medical information regarding hearing loss was sent to all state and territory EHDI coordinators. Results Seventy percent of surveys were completed. Diagnostic, amplification, and Part C services were tracked by the majority of respondents. Additionally, medical prenatal and postnatal risks were collected. Conclusion Data collected on audiologic screening and diagnostic evaluations has increased. On the basis of these results, it is difficult to discern whether best practices are being used for each child. A delay in reporting a confirmed hearing loss was observed. Amplification results suggest that systems are not in place to ensure consistency and accountability for fitting amplification in infants. The results of this survey identified audiologic and EI information tracked by states to help provide a framework to monitor quality care in the future.
