Abstract:
Current State of Terminology in Lithuania: Scientific Research, Management and Education The article discusses the current state of terminology in Lithuania, presents terminological research carried out in the last five years, analyses ways of Lithuanian terminology management, and briefly overviews terminological education and teaching in Lithuania.Lithuanian terminological research is mostly carried out at the Institute of the Lithuanian Language and at universities and other research institutes. The largest part of terminological research is carried out at the Centre of Terminology of the Institute of the Lithuanian Language, which researches Lithuanian terminology and terminography, analyses the use of Lithuanian terminology in different fields.Three ways of terminology management are discussed: terminography, creation of term banks and databases and standardisation of terms. The number of term dictionaries published in Lithuania is rather considerable – over 600. The most productive period for publishing term dictionaries is from 1990 up to date. Between 1990–2013 more than 420 term dictionaries and special encyclopaedias were published. The main and most important terminology database in Lithuania is the Term Bank of the Republic of Lithuania (lt Lietuvos Respublikos terminų bankas, further – LTB), initiated in 2004. This bank is created as a common information system of state institutions administered by the State Commission of the Lithuanian Language (further – Language Commission). There are more than 237,000 term entries in LTB. The article discusses two more terminology databases containing Lithuanian terminology sources – IATE and EUROTERMBANK. The Lithuanian Standards Board, in addition to other work, prepares Lithuanian standards of terms and offers these terms to the Language Commission for evaluation. Since 2000, the Lithuanian Standards Board has been creating a database of standardised terms which currently contains about 64,000 terms. In Lithuania, terminology also exists as an academic discipline; at many universities, philologists are offered a course in terminology. At many universities, students of other non-philological disciplines are taught a course in language for specific purposes, which covers matters of terminology and terms. Litewska Rada Standaryzacji oprócz innych prac przygotowuje litewskie standardy terminów i przedstawia je Komisji Języka do oceny.

Abstract:
“By their terminology you shall know them...”: in search of the differentia specifica of modern linguistics. Summary: In the article, an attempt is made to identify the notion and its corresponding terminology that could serve the purposes of the differentia specifica of the ongoing polarisation of modern linguistics. As the terms system, symbol, functionalism, and conventionalism are found inadequate, it is the notion ‘continuum’, and its terminology, that is claimed to possibly tell apart the two ends (structural/generative and functional/ cognitive, respectively) of the linguistic cline. What follows is a report on whether or not, and to what extent, the ‘continuum’ terminology features in the latest 11 issues (2015–2019) of the three selected Polish journals of general linguistics. Keywords: terminology, continuum, continuity, structural linguistics vs. cognitive linguistics

Abstract:
SUMMARY On the Role of Planned Languages in Eugen Wüster's Work on Terminology Science The founder of terminology science was also an important interlinguist and a pioneering researcher on Esperanto. His profound interest in planned languages had a significant effect on the development of his ideas on terminology. The article sketches the relationship between planned languages ([artificial] world auxiliary languages) and specialized technical languages, with particular reference to Esperanto, and analyzes its significance for several aspects of Wüster's work (the Encyclopaedic Esperanto-German Dictionary, his dissertation International Language Standardisation in Technology, the international dictionary of electrical technology, and the project of an international terminological code).

Abstract:
The article discusses selected issues concerning the Uralic terminology, focusing on Polish terms and names. We understand Uralic studies as both a study programme and a scholarly line of research. In Section 2 of the paper, we delimit a general point of reference for the Uralic terminology, whereas Section 3 provides an overview of specific terminological problems related to the labelling of Uralic languages and ethnolects, with special emphasis on the Finno-Ugric group. We conclude that the Polish Uralic terminology lacks a number of relevant Uralic names/labels/terms and champions its own idiosyncratic terminological solutions. Further standardisation and internationalisation of the Uralic terms in Polish are recommended. Wybrane problemy i przykłady terminologii uralistycznej. Słowa kluczowe: języki uralskie (ugrofińskie), terminologia językoznawcza, językoznawstwo opisowe a nazewnictwo, badania naukowe a kształcenie filologiczne

Abstract:
Internationalisms as a source of equonymy in Slavic technical terminology (on the basis of Polish, Russian and Bulgarian material)The article presents one of the main sources of Slavic synonymy in technical terms – the phenomenon of internationalization. On the basis of a comprehensive set of Polish, Russian and Bulgarian terms of the range of machinery (construction and operation) it was found that Polish terminology uses international units primarily as a component of analytic terms, while the Russian and Bulgarian usually borrow the entire terminological unit and less often use a parallel native term.

Abstract:
SUMMARY Neologisms and Language Planning in Quebec This article discusses government intervention in language matters, particularly in the area of terminology. How, it questions, does the government of Quebec approach the planning of French terminology in legislative texts and political announcements relative to such aspects of language it wishes to influence as the introduction of neologisms, borrowing, and the use of regionalisms? The author suggests a two-sided approach to language management is at work, one that conceives of terminology from an institutional point of view and advocates situation-specific language intervention solutions. For the Office of the French Language, one concrete means of terminology management has been to develop internal neologistic planning and then, since 1975, to extend these efforts within an international neologistic network, in conjunction with other francophone communities, particularly European ones. These perspectives guide reflections on the role of neologisms in the process of language planning in Quebec.

Abstract:
The aim of the article is to preliminarily analyse the Polish anthropological terminology included in the most important 19th-century Kraków Słownik terminologii lekarskiej polskiej [Dictionary of Polish Medical Terminology] by S. Janikowski, J. Oettinger and A. Kremer, which was created during the period when anthropology was emerging as a new science. Anthropological terms had appeared in Kraków’s medical dictionaries before (over 40%), but it was in S 1881 that they were first distinguished from medical terminology and marked with the qualifier antr. The anthropological terminology for S 1881 was prepared by prominent anthropologists who were also physicians: I. Kopernicki and J. Majer. Out of 195 Polish terms, over 70% apply to craniology and craniometry, reflecting the main direction of the development in Polish anthropology. The Polish terms are definitely indigenous. More than 80% are one- (55.4%) and two-element terms (26.2%). Synonymy is present in the analysed terminology (40.4%), although there is a visible tendency to limit the number of Polish terms in synonymic series to two (73.7%).

Abstract:
Abstract All healthcare professionals have to master the extensive anatomical terminology, which is an indispensable tool in communication. The Terminologia Anatomica, formerly known as Nomina Anatomica, is a particularly useful tool for effective communication among anatomists and specialists beyond the field, both within a medical context and the broader scientific discourse. The inaugural edition of the Terminologia Anatomica, which was issued in 1998 by the Federative Committee on Anatomical Terminology, gained widespread international recognition. Nevertheless, many authors believe that precise definitions and valid names for the parts and segments of the anatomical structures that are clinically and didactically useful should be incorporated in future editions of anatomical nomenclature. Thus, refining and extending the Terminologia Anatomica remains a challenging task for future generations of anatomists. Simultaneously, the intricate nature of anatomical nomenclature poses a major challenge, as learning, remembering, and understanding the complex terminology is a difficult task, especially for first-year medical students and newcomers to the field, emphasizing the need to simplify the anatomical language. The purpose of this article is to explore specific strategies designed to elevate the educational experience of medical students as they endeavor to master human gross anatomy and its terminology.

Abstract:
The purpose of this article is to present a source that has so far remained unused in the historical research of the Polish chemical terminology of the second half of the 19th century – Słownik terminologii lekarskiej polskiej [English: Polish Medical Terminology Dictionary] of 1881. This dictionary is a result of the efforts which the Polish medical doctors undertook to organise the Polish medical terminology in the 19th century. It also contains chemical terms. What is important, the dictionary demonstrates a phase of competition between two terminology schools: the Cracow school and the Warsaw school, juxtaposing various terms (mainly in synonymic strings) proposed by these schools.

Abstract:
Terminology is reaching an important moment in its development. Within firms, new terminological needs are appearing which go beyond those of traditional translation departments. Thanks to the results of natural-language processing (NLP) and knowledge acquisition and representation in artificial intelligence (AI), new possibilities for integrating terminological data are coming to light. In order to meet these new needs, it is necessary to approach the analysis of phenomena with strong theoretical bases. The article proposes to root terminology firmly within linguistics, while paying special attention to the specific link of terminology with knowledge. In limited fields, the strong link between linguistic signs and concepts permits linguistic research to put forward hypotheses concerning the extraction of terms, of links between terms and concepts, and of relations between concepts. It is necessary to elaborate a methodology for a linguistic analysis of how terms function. By developing the notion of "deviance " (deviant behaviour of the terminological system in comparison with the expected behaviour of the lexical system), the article presents a first linguistically based classification.

Abstract:
This article introduces the field of terminology, which often considers the Austrian engineer Eugen Wüster as its founder in the 1930s, although important principles go back in time, in particular to 18th and 19th century botanists, zoologists and chemists. The contributions of Wüster are presented, as well as the alternative theories, with their criticism of Wüster’s position, which came to influence the field after 1990. The article further suggests that domain-analytic studies based on epistemological studies of knowledge domains seems to have been overlooked. The relations between terminology and knowledge organization are addressed, and closer cooperation between the two fields is called for.

Abstract:
Abstract Terminology refers to specific technical terms used with a particular field of study. In contrast, terminography deals with the collection, interpretation, processing and delivery of terms with a specific use in one or several languages. This paper describes terminology as a subfield of applied linguistics that may help preserve the culture of an individual community, especially in Malaysia, where its society comprises people from various races and ethnicities. Therefore, understanding a culture is important to ensure harmony and unity. In this instance, couture is a cultural artefact with aesthetic value and capable of distinguishing racial identity. For the state of Sabah, the largest ethnic group is the Kadazandusun, which can be further classified into sub-ethnic groups, Kadazan and Dusun. Thus, the objective of this study is to identify dan define the terms used in Kadazan Penampang couture with the application of a traditional approach to the formation of terms based on concepts named the General Theory of Terminology (TUT). Data was collected through literary research and interviews with informants, which were subsequently compiled into a terminographic record. Results showed that the terminography based on concept mapping and terminography records could build a more systematic Kadazan Penampang couture terminology. On the whole, this study may bolster a general understanding of the field of terminology, in addition to preserving the culture, specifically the couture, of Malaysia’s Kadazan Penampang ethnic group.

Abstract:
Sources of linguistic terminology in German, Polish and Russian: Research methodology and terminological basis. The paper deals with selected aspects of the influence of foreign terminology and borrowings from everyday language as well as from other terminological systems on linguistics. Since linguistics is a relatively young branch of scientific research, it has been strongly and consequently influenced by other sciences and their terms throughout its development as an autonomous field of research. On the other hand, a specific feature of linguistics in comparison to other spheres of human knowledge is its mixed character, since it describes both universal and relative (language-specific) properties of language systems. For this reason, terms borrowed from Latin, Greek or other languages can never completely cover the phenomena found in German, Russian, Polish etc. Nevertheless, borrowed terms undoubtedly can adequately describe different properties of other languages, if we understand them exclusively as conventionalized etiquettes in which the internal transparency of their morphological form does not play a decisive part. Keywords: linguistic terminology, terminological borrowing, sources of linguistic terms O źródłach terminologii językoznawczej w językach niemieckim, polskim i rosyjskim: metodologia badawcza a baza pojęciowa.

Abstract:
Between national and international trends of terms: formation of Ukrainian astro- nomical terminology in late nineteenth and early twentieth century. Ukrainian scienfific astronomical terminology has been rapidly evolving in the late XIX and early XX century due to the publication of scholarly works on astronomy in Ukrainian. During this period, the de- velopment of astronomical terminology system, as well as other subsystems of the scientific language was not a normal, natural way of challenging conditions of stateless Ukrainian nation. In the article the author discusses the influence of linguistic and extra-linguistic factors on the creation of the Ukrainian language and nab'onal scientific terminology. For example, I present Ukrainian astronomical terminology’s influence on nab’onal and internah’onal trends in terms of formation and development of astronomical terminological Ukrainian language.

Abstract:
Anderson & Krahthwohl Cognitive Applications in Teaching and Learning Pantun in Elementary Schools Abstract: Taxonomy is the classification of things according to certain characteristics. Taxonomy in education is used to classify educational objectives, assessment and curriculum preparation. Bloom has categorized three domains in learning, namely; cognitive domain, affective domain and psychomotor domain. Bloom’s taxonomy focuses on the terminology of (1) knowledge; (2) understanding; (3) application; (4) analysis; (5) synthesis; and (6) evaluation. While the terminology changed with the introduction of the Revised Taxonomy in 2001 by Anderson & Krathwohl with the terminology (1) recalling; (2) understand; (3) apply; (4) analyze; (5) evaluate; and (6) create. This terminology changes by considering the holistic need to make it more relevant in its application by teachers at the school level. The main focus of this paper is a discussion on the cognitive domain of the 2001 Anderson & Krathwohl Revision and its application in the teaching and learning of verse in primary schools. Keywords: Bloom's Taxonomy, Cognitive Area, Poetry, Revised Taxonomy.

Abstract:
ABSTRACTObjective: to report the use of the reference terminology model for formulating nursing diagnoses having NANDA-I and ICNP® 2.0 as a basis. Method: this is an experience report with selection of a fictitious clinical case and use of the conceptual map for identifying relevant data. The priority nursing diagnoses were identified according to NANDA-I and the online version of ICNP® 2.0, observing ISO 18.104. Results: three nursing diagnoses were identified: hyperthermia; impaired physical mobility/compromised body movement; impaired skin integrity/compromised skin integrity. Discussion: having the reference terminology model as a basis for nursing diagnoses, it was possible to view elements identified through this model in the verbal structuring of nursing diagnoses in the two classification systems selected. Conclusion: it is known that the classification systems are in a constant updating process and none of them is able to meet all the needs of clinical practice. It is believed, therefore, that the selection through the terminology in use should be compatible with the needs and resources available in the clinical practice, as well as with the nurse's identification with the classification system which best suits her/his beliefs and values.
