Abstract:
ABSTRAKBeban termal yang terjadi pada bangunan dapat mengakibatkan degradasi pada struktur baja dan menyebabkan keruntuhan. Penelitian ini menganalisis pengaruh beban termal disertai beban angin terhadap respon dari struktur bangunan baja lima belas lantai yang berfungsi sebagai perkantoran dengan mempertimbangkan degradasi propertis baja, reduksi beban hidup dan beban mati tambahan, serta kecepatan penanganan pemadaman. Simulasi terbagi menjadi tiga kasus yaitu penanganan pemadaman kebakaran cepat, penanganan pemadaman kebakaran lambat, dan penentuan beban termal kritis. Analisis struktur dilakukan dengan bantuan software ETABS. Hasil simulasi kebakaran menunjukkan semakin tinggi temperatur maka stress ratio dari elemen struktur makin membesar. Pada penentuan beban termal kritis diperoleh bahwa besar beban termal yang dapat menyebabkan minimal satu elemen struktur utama mengalami kegagalan pada umumnya berbeda pada lantai level bawah, tengah, dan atas. Pada studi kasus ini diperoleh beban temperatur kritis paling besar yaitu pada lantai level atas.Kata kunci: beban termal, degradasi propertis baja, kegagalan struktur ABSTRACTThermal load on the building can lead into the degradation of steel structure and cause collapse. This study analyze the effect of thermal along with wind loads on the response of fifteen stories steel structure building which serves as an office by considering the degradation of steel properties, the reduction of live load and super imposed dead load, and the speed of handling the extinguishing. This simulation is divided into three cases which are fast handling of extinguishing, slow handling of extinguishing, and the determination of the critical thermal load. Structural analysis will be done using the ETABS software. The result of fire simulation showed that when the temperature is higher, the stress ratio of structural elements will also expand. In the determination of the critical thermal load, it is obtained that the thermal loads which can cause failure in minimum one major structural element are generally different at the bottom, middle, and top level of stories. In this case study, the highest critical temperature load is on the top level.Keywords: thermal load, steel properties degradation, structure failure

Abstract:
Giysilerde estetik ve modaya uygunluğu yanı sıra, performans ve konfor özellikleri gibi önemli özellikler aranmaktadır. Giysilerin ısıl konfor sağlaması için, soğuğa karşı yüksek ısıl dirence sahip olması gerekmektedir. Çalışma kapsamında, seamless makinelerde termofizyolojik konfor özellikleri iyileştirilmiş içlikler, çevre dostu ürünler olarak geliştirilmiştir. Çeşitli çevre koşullarında yüksek ısı yalıtımı isteyen kişilerin kullanabileceği özellikler taşıması için çalışmalar yapılmıştır. Termal ısıl konforu etkileyebilecek üretim parametrelerini dikkate alarak üretimi gerçekleşen yün, NILIT-heat, polyester (PES), polipropilen (PA) ve özel fonksiyonel ipliklerle kombine edilmiş 10 adet numune üretilmiştir. Çalışmada, ısıl dirence sahip farklı yapıdaki termal kumaş türlerinin, ısıl direnç (Alambeta Parametreleri) ve MMT parametreleri incelenmiştir ve çok kriterli analiz sonucunda ise termal fonksiyonel özellikleri barından numuneler seçilmiştir. Isıl yalıtımın sağlanması için numunelerde daha çok yün, termal izolasyonlu özel ipliklerin özellikle PES ile kombinasyonu önerilirken, su buharı geçirgenliği beklenen bölgelerde ise; PES, PA ve yün kombinasyonlarının kullanımı uygun bulunmuştur.

Pembangkit Listrik digunakan untuk membangkitkan listrik dari berbagai sumber energi seperti pembangkit listrik tenaga uap (PLTU). PLTU ini memiliki kapasitas 1500 kW dengan data data yang telah diperoleh tekanan dan temperatur berdasarkan tabel properties of saturated water (liquid–vapor) temperature maka dapat dilakukan perhitungan kualitas campuran pada kondensor dan efisiensi termal pada suatu siklus pembangkit listrik tersebut. Uap jenuh memasuki turbin pada siklus Rankine ideal pada tekanan 20 bar dan mengalami ekspansi pada turbin sampai pada tekanan kondensor 2,5 bar. Dalam penelitian ini dilakukan perhitungan efisiensi termal siklus pembangkit listrik tenaga uap tersebut, kemudian setelah dilakukan perhitungan didapatkan hasil efisiensi termal siklus tersebut adalah 19,3%. Efisiensi termal dapat ditingkatkan dengan melakukan penurunan suhu dan tekanan pada kondensor, meningkatkan tekanan pada boiler, dan meningkatkan suhu ketika fluida kerja dalam keadaan superheated.

Siklus Rankine organik telah digunakan sebagai pembangkit listrik yang memanfaatkan sumber kalor bersuhu rendah seperti biomassa, panas bumi, dan limbah kalor dari pembangkit listrik konvensional. Kajian ini dilakukan untuk menganalisis kinerja energi siklus Rankine organik sebagai akibat perubahan suhu kondensasi menggunakan fluida kerja yang lebih ramah lingkungan sebagai pengganti R245FA, yaitu R515A dan R1234ZE. Kinerja sistem didasarkan pada variasi suhu kondensasi menggunakan perangkat lunak Genetron Properties dengan suhu evaporasi dipertahankan konstan. Besaran-besaran penting yang dianalisis adalah laju aliran massa, daya pemompaan, penyerapan kalor, rasio tekanan turbin, dan efisiensi termal. Hasil kajian ini menunjukkan bahwa peningkatan suhu kondensasi sangat berdampak pada meningkatnya konsumsi daya pemompaan tetapi menurunkan rasio tekanan di turbin, dan efisiensi termal sistem. Daya pemompaan yang digunakan untuk menyirkulasikan R515A dan R1234ZE lebih besar dibandingkan dengan untuk menyirkulasikan R245FA, tetapi efisiensi termal sistem ORC yang menggunakan R1234ZE lebih besar dibandingkan R245FA dan R515A.

Sentezlenen bileşiklerin yapıları çeşitli spektroskopik ve analitik yöntemler kullanılarak karakterize edilmiştir. Tek kristal X-ray analizi sonucunda 1 nolu bileşiğin üç boyutlu ve sütunlu tabaka yapısında organik/inorganik katmanlardan oluştuğu gözlenmiştir. Monoklinik kristal sistemi ve P21/c uzay grubunda olan bileşik 1'in hücre parametreleri a = 10.8142(9) Å, b = 7.5839(6) Å, c = 7.3991(6) Å, V = 606.26(9) Å3 ve Z= 4'tür. Polimer zinciri içinde her bir bakır atomu toplam beş koordinasyona sahip olup kısmen bozulmuş kare piramit geometridedir. 1 polimerinin heterojen katalitik aktivitesi ve termal özellikleri incelenmiştir. TG analizi sonuncunda katalizörün 200 ᵒC sıcaklığa kadar termal kararlılığa sahip olduğu gözlenmiştir. TBHP kullanarak 60 ᵒC sıcaklıkta ve 12 saat sonunda %92.37 timol dönüşümü meydana gelmiştir.

<p>Tujuan perancangan sistem ini adalah untuk mengetahui penggabungan sistem dalam memanfaatkan energi panas yang terbuang dari teknologi pirolisis dan siklus organik rankine menggunakan metode perancangan Pahl &amp; Beitz. Pada proses sistem kerja siklus organik rankine menggunakan fluida kerja R-134a dengan mempertimbangkan ODP, GWP, Life Time Atmosphere serta komponen yang digunakan pada sistem ini adalah jenis turbin uap impuls, kondensor berkependinginan air, pompa sentrifugal, alat penukar kalor Shell and Tube. Efisiensi penggabungan pirolisis dengan sistem siklus organik rankine bernilai 16% dengan kadar uap masuk turbin 96% dan hasil kerja turbin 38,7 kJ/kg, kerja kondensor 194,51 kJ/kg, kerja pompa 1 kJ/kg dan evaporator 234,2 kJ/kg. Hasil perhitungan dengan laju aliran massa 2kg/s, Temperatur masuk turbin 40 oC dan tekanan 1,6 MPa adalah 77,37 MW. Dari hasil perhitungan dan perkiraan perancangan daya yang dihasilkan turbin memiliki nilai beda yang besar disebabkan oleh entalpi dan entropi pada tabel properties fluida kerja memiliki nilai yang besar.</p>

Energi yang tersimpan dalam baterai merupakan sumber daya satelit yang digunakan saat satelit dalam kondisi eclipse. Makalah ini membahas pemilihan finishing permukaan array surya satelit dari empat jenis yang ada dengan analisa penggunaan tiga buah coating paint dengan optical properties untuk sisi belakang array surya. Solar reflector dengan menggunakan coating white paint SG 121-FD dipilih sebagai finishing permukaan array surya desain power termal satelit karena mempunyai nilai emissivity yang tinggi dan nilai absorptivity yang rendah.

Abstract:
In this study, thermal inactivation of Salmonella Enteritidis inoculated to the cake dough and a whole raw chicken was investigated. The cake dough was inoculated with 6.15 log-cfu/g S. Enteritidis then, thermal treatment was applied at 160°C top-bottom fan cooking mode. The initial count of S. Enteritidis showed reductions 1.49 log-cfu/g, 2.06 log-cfu/g and 4.29 log-cfu/g in the samples from the cold point location from the geometric center of the cake at 5, 7 and 10 minutes of thermal treatment, respectively. Although S. Enteritidis is not detected at the end of 15 minutes of heat treatment, the center of the cake temperature has reached 85.69°C and the cake sample is uncooked and its sensory properties are not acceptable. The cake that is safe and favorable with the sensory properties to the consumers was obtained by heat treatment for 30 minutes. After the cold point of a whole raw chicken was inoculated with 7.29 log-cfu/g S. Enteritidis, thermal treatment was applied at 220°C top-bottom fan cooking mode. The temperature at the cold point of 35 and 45 minutes heat-treated chickens reached 59.33 and 74.08°C, respectively, and 1.93 log-cfu/g and 5.33 log-cfu /g S. Enteritidis reduction caused in the samples respectively. S. Enteritidis cells were not detected in the whole chicken heat treated at 220°C for 60 minutes. The cakes, heat treated at 160°C top-bottom fan cooking mode for 30 minutes, were stored at two different storage temperatures as 4°C and 25°C for 72 hours. The whole chicken, heat treated at 220°C top-bottom fan cooking mode for 60 minutes, was stored at 4°C for 72 hours. S. Enteritidis cells were not detected in the cake and the whole chicken samples after the storage period.

Abstract:
<p><strong>The apatite compound that is often used in medicine and dentistry is hydroxyapatite with the chemical formula Ca10(PO4)6(OH)2. Fluor ions can substitute hydroxyl ions from hydroxyapatite to form crystals with the formula Ca (PO4)6(OH)2-xF2x, with the value of x indicating the index number of hydroxyl groups (OH-) replaced by fluor ions (F-). This study aims to determine the effect of fluor ion substitution on hydroxyapatite on electrical properties and thermal stability. In this study, the hydrothermal method was characterized by X-Ray diffractometer (XRD), Fourier Transform Infra-Red Spectroscopy (FTIR), LCR meter, Thermogravimetry Analysis (DTA), and Differential Thermal Analysis (TGA). The XRD and FTIR analysis results showed that the samples obtained were in the form of hydroxyapatite, fluorhydroxyapatite, and fluorapatite, which was also indicated by the presence of functional groups PO43-, CO32-, and OH- group libration mode at a wavenumber of 740 cm-1. There was a decrease in the lattice parameter a and an increase in the crystal size as the substitution of fluor ions increased. Latar belakang yang sudah ada mengenai upaya mencapai suhu yang nyaman ini tidak dapat hanya diselesaikan dari sisi sistem mekanikalnya, namun pendekatan arsitektural dari desain konfigurasi selubung bangunannya yang mampu membantu dan memberikan efek nyaman bagi penghuninya. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk mengetahui tingkat kenyamanan termal atau suhu di dalam ruangan sebuah desain rumah tinggal dengan menerapkan beberapa material dinding yang berbeda-beda sehingga didapatkan nilai perbandingan tingkat kenyamanan termal setiap material dinding yang diaplikasikan. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian dengan menggunakan metode simulasi melalui model komputer (computer model). Berdasar hasil analisis sesuai hasil simulasi yang didapat, maka pemilihan material pada menggunakan batako, bata dan bata ringan secara karakteristik memiliki sifat bahan yang mirip. Hal ini dikarekan karakter “thermal properties”ketiga bahan ini tidak jauh beda. Berbeda dengan material kayu, berdasar hasil simulai untuk memperoleh Surface Inside Temperature, Mean Radiant Temperature dan Opertaive Temperature mendapat hasil suhu/temperatur paling tinggi.

Abstract:
The paralogous C-terminal binding proteins (CtBP) 1 and 2 are evolutionarily conserved transcriptional coregulators that target and disrupt the expression of several genes essential for multiple cellular processes critical to regulating tumor formation. CtBP’s ability to govern the transcription of genes necessary for apoptosis, tumor suppression, invasion/migration and EMT gives rise to its oncogenic activities. Both isoforms of CtBP are found to be overexpressed in cancers including colorectal, pancreatic, ovarian, and breast, with higher levels correlating to lower overall median survival. Although multiple lines of evidence suggest CtBP plays a role in tumorigenesis, it has never been formally characterized as an oncogene. For this reason, the goal of this dissertation was to design a set of experiments to determine the transforming ability of CtBP2 in vitro using both murine and human fibroblast and in vivo using the Apcmin/+ mouse model of cancer. Specifically, we demonstrate that overexpression of CtBP2 alone can drive transformation of NIH3T3 cells leading to loss of contact inhibition, increased x invasion/migration, and anchorage independent growth. In addition, CtBP2 was found to cooperate with the large T-antigen (LT) component of the simian virus 40 (SV40) to lead to transformation of murine embryonic fibroblasts (MEFs) and with both LT and small T-antigen (ST) to induce migration/invasion and anchorage-independent growth in BJ human foreskin fibroblasts. To confirm the role of Ctbp2 in a mouse tumor model with Ctbp overexpression, we bred Apcmin/+ mice to Ctbp2 heterozygous (Ctbp2+/-) mice, which otherwise live normal lifespans. CtBP is a known target of the APC tumor suppressor and is thus stabilized in APC mutated human colon cancers and is found in high levels in Apcmin/+ polyps. Remarkably, removing an allele of Ctbp2 doubled the median survival of Apcmin/+ mice (P <0.001) and reduced polyp formation to near undetectable levels. These data suggest the importance of CtBP2 in driving cellular transformation and identify it as a potential target for prevention or therapy in APC mutant backgrounds.

Graphical computer simulations provide a means through which weapon prototyping and tactical evaluations can be conducted at low cost, without the risks associated with the movement of equipment and firing of weapons. Because of the widespread use of ballistic munitions in the armed forces, a fundamental aspect of the implementation of such military simulations is a physical model that governs ballistic behavior. The modified point-mass trajectory model is used to implement ballistic trajectories within NPSNET, a real-time, graphical, three-dimensional simulation. A parallel algorithm is used to simulate the visual characteristics of shrapnel-producing explosions. A special case of ballistic trajectories involves the application of indirect fires. When a projectile travels along a curved path to the target area, rather than being propelled directly along the line of sight, much greater ranges can be achieved. This makes it possible to fire upon an enemy without directly exposing the firing elements to harm. As a result of these increased ranges, it is generally not possible for the firing element to acquire its own targets. Thus, an additional player is required to represent this tactic in a virtual world: the forward observer. An expert system is presented that mimics the cognitive contributions of a human forward observer.

Pendant ce travail de thèse, j'ai tout d'abord finalisé le développement d'un système expérimental unique dédié aux études de transport électronique de nanostructures multi-terminaux de faible impédance. Ce dispositif permet des mesures de conductance et de bruit à très basse température (30 mK), avec une résolution du pico-ampère en utilisant des SQUIDs comme amplificateurs de courant. Dans le chapitre 5, je fournis une description du fonctionnement de la mesure. De plus, je décris la calibration du dispositif et la manière de déduire des quantités physiques à partir des mesures.Au Chapitre 6, je décris des mesures de transport avec des jonctions diffusives à trois terminaux (trijonctions). Dans une géométrie, que l'on appelle T-shape, des électrodes supraconductrices d'Aluminium sont connectées entre-elles par une partie centrale métallique non-supraconductrice de Cuivre. Pour ces nanostructures, on observe des anomalies de conductance à basse tension qui n'ont jamais été observées expérimentalement. Ces anomalies de résistance/conductance ressemblant fortement à l'effet Josephson apparaissant lorsque deux des potentiels appliqués à la trijonction ont une somme nulle. Les anomalies sont présentes sur une large échelle de tension sans perte d'amplitude. De-même, elles montrent une grande robustesse en température. Des expériences sous champ magnétique appliqué montrent une forte suppression des anomalies pour un champ magnétique correspondant à flux magnétique dans la partie normale de l'ordre d'un quantum de flux. Ceci indique qu'un mécanisme cohérent de phase doit être à l'origine des anomalies. Dans la littérature, deux mécanismes sont proposés pour expliquer ces effets.Le premier, nommé "mode-locking", est un accrochage dynamique des courants Josephson ac, qui est induit par l'environnement expérimental (circuit). Cette situation a été étudiée dans les années soixante sur des microstructures Josephson couplées à base de liens faibles. Pour tester cette explication, nous avons mesuré un échantillon composé de deux jonctions Josephson spatialement séparées. Les anomalies n'apparaissent pas dans une telle géométrie, pas même avec une amplitude réduite. Ceci indique qu'une synchronisation par l'environnement expérimental ne peut pas être à l'origine des anomalies observées. Le deuxième mécanisme théorique évoqué est nommé "mode de quartet" et a été proposé récemment par Freyn et collaborateurs. L'une des électrodes supraconductrices distribue alors des doublets de paires de Cooper. Chacune de ces deux paires se scindent alors en deux quasiparticles se propageant chacune vers deux contacts supraconducteurs différents. Dans un tel mécanisme deux quasiparticules, issues de deux paires de Cooper différentes, arrivent sur chacun des deux contacts supraconducteurs. Lorsque les tensions appliquées entre le contact supraconducteurs émetteur et les deux autres contacts sont exactement opposés, les phases des fonctions d'ondes électroniques des quasiparticules arrivant sur un même contact supraconducteur sont telles que ces deux quasiparticules peuvent se recombiner pour former une paire de Cooper. Par ce mécanisme le doublet de paires de Copper émis se distribue de manière cohérente en deux paires de Cooper chacune dans un contact supraconducteur différent.Ce mécanisme est favorable, car il est robuste envers le désordre et peut ainsi exister sur une large échelle de tensions.Au cours de cette thèse, j'ai montré que ces anomalies sont effectivement présentes pour des tensions appliquées correspondant à des énergies bien supérieures à l'énergie de Thouless. A contrario, les effets cohérents responsables de l'effet Josephson ac doivent être fortement atténués sur cette même échelle d'énergie, ce qui rend peu probable le mécanisme de mode-locking
During this PhD, I have first finished the development of a unique experimental set-up, dedicated for studies of electronic transport of low impedance multi-terminal nanostructures. This set-up allows conductance and noise measurements at very low temperature (30 mK), with a resolution of a few pico-ampere by using SQUIDs as current amplifiers. In chapter 5, I give some explanation of the measurement working principle. Furthermore, I explain the calibration of the experimental set-up as well as how to extract physical quantities from the measurements.In chapter6, I explain transport measurements on diffusive tri-terminal junctions (tri-junction). In a T-shape called geometry, the superconducting Al-electrodes are connected via a common metallic, non-superconducting part of Copper. For these nanostructures, we observe features in the conductance at low voltage, which have been never observed yet experimentally. These features in conductance/resistance have a striking resemblance with a dc-Josephson effect, appearing when two applied potentials on the tri-junction compensate exactly each other.In literature, two mechanisms are proposed to explain this effect.The first mechanism, called "mode-locking", corresponds to a dynamic locking of ac-Josephson currents, which is induced by the experimental environment (circuit). This situation has been extensively studied in the 60's on coupled microstructures, based on weak links. In order to test this explanation, we have measured a junction, which is composed of two spatially separated Josephson junctions. The anomalies does not show up in such a geometry, even not with strongly reduced amplitude. This indicates, that synchronization via the experimental environment can't be the origin of the observed features. The second theoretical mechanism is named "quartet-mode" and has been recently proposed by Freyn and Co-workers. In this process, one superconducting electrode emits doublets of Cooper-pairs. Each of the two pairs splits into two quasi particles propagating toward different superconducting contacts. In such a mechanism, two quasi-particles originating of two different Cooper-pairs, arrive each in the two superconducting contacts. If the applied voltage between the emitting superconducting contact and the two other contacts is exactly opposite, the phase of the electronic wave functions of the arriving quasi-particles on the same superconducting contact are such, that these two quasi-particles can recombine by forming a Cooper-pair. Due to this mechanism, the emitted doublet of Cooper-pairs is coherently distributed as two Cooper-pairs, each of them in a different superconducting contact. This mechanism is favored, since it is robust with respect to disorder and can hence also exist over a large range of voltage. During this PhD, I have shown that these anomalies are indeed present for applied voltage corresponding to energies well above the Thouless energy. Argumentum a contrario, the coherent effects responsible for the ac Josephson-effect have to be strongly attenuated over the same range of energy, which makes low probable the effect of mode-locking

<p>New steel production processes have led to a remarkable improve­ment in steel products within the last few years, and now allows steels to be produced according to the desired mechanical and chemical properties. High-Performance Steel (HPS) is the designa­tion given to this new generation of steels that offer higher performance not only in terms of strength but also toughness, weld­ability, cold formability and corrosion resistance, compared to the traditionally used mild steel grades.</p> <p>The development of HPS goes with today's increased demand for slender lightweight structures, as for example in bridge design and the design of high-rise buildings, where there is a strong require­ment to use high-strength materials in combination with good execution and fabrication properties. However, on the structural engineering side there is a need for knowledge on these new steel grades, and quite often design codes do not provide sufficient information to fully exploit the advantageous properties of HPS.</p> <p>The present volume provides an overview of the development and application of HPS on an international level. This is done by giving information on, for example, the production process, the chemical and mechanical properties, the relevant design and fabrication standards and on recent research results. Approximately fifteen included examples of realised applications aim to provide detailed information based on existing technical solutions, and to point out the major benefits when using HPS in comparison to mild steels.</p> <p>The document is thus not a monograph but an assembly of contri­butions from different countries. lt is separated into chapters related to different countries, namely the USA, Canada, Japan and Europe, all of them providing a state-of-the-art report on HPS.</p>

Some philosophers have argued for predicative or representational views of perception by way of appeal to seeing-as or aspect experiences as discussed by Wittgenstein. This chapter argues that such a tactic is bound to fail. This is because it depends upon a confusion between (in Wittgenstein’s terms) properties and ingredients. The provision of a proper separation of properties and ingredients will make available a relational view of perceptual experience of the kind Travis espouses, which properly accommodates aspect experiences. Concomitantly, the chapter seeks to illuminate the profound connection between the relational view of perception and Travis’s approach to predication and generality in thought more generally.

This work proposes a stabilizing gradient-based economic MPC with enlargement of the domain of attraction, based on the novel combination of three ingredients: terminal equality constraints solely on open-loop non-stable states, an admissible articial steady-state, and a terminal cost. A further enlargement of the domain of attraction is achieved by including slack variables to soften the bound constraints of states, without affecting the stabilizing propertiesor capacity to drive the closed-loop system toward the economic target. Finally, a case study based on an unstable reactor is used to demonstrate the properties of the proposed strategy.

For example, assume that the function symbol '+' is known to be commutative. Given the unication problem x + y ≐ a + b (where x and y are variables, and a and b are constants), an algorithm for syntactic unification would return the substitution {x ↦ a; y ↦ b} as the only (and most general) unifier: to make x + y and a + b syntactically equal, one must replace the variable x by a and y by b. However, commutativity of '+' implies that {x ↦ b; y ↦ b} also is a unifier in the sense that the terms obtained by its application, namely b + a and a + b, are equal modulo commutativity of '+'. More generally, equational unification is concerned with the problem of how to make terms equal modulo a given equational theory, which specifies semantic properties of the function symbols that occur in the terms to be unified.

Evaluates the use of non-destructive surface testing (micro indentation, micro-machining, in situ chemistry, and replicate microscopy analysis) as a means to perform pipe material confirmation. The test results from thousands of lab and field material tests done on actual pipeline samples have been used to develop models that account for pipe material thermo-mechanical process variations and through-wall variability of material, mechanical, and chemical properties. A separate "training set" of twenty pipelines was made available to GTI, Element Resources, and ASU to allow initial model testing and prove-out prior to the seventy primary samples that were used to fully characterize pipeline properties and the correlation of surface to bulk properties, as well as develop predictive models of bulk properties based solely on surface obtained pipeline data. A set of seventy pipeline samples (termed Pipe Library) that were in service from the natural gas industry were selected for the project testing and modeling. A great deal of care and effort was put forth to select a reasonable number that provided the adequate breadth of variety as typically encountered by the industry in the field.

This research is grounded in the theory that scale-free networks form between many organizations in a community when coordinating social care services and influential hubs in the network emerge (Barabási & Réka, 1999).We explore the variability in the structures of social care networks, focusing on how the diverse needs of community members and the array of providers influence these structures. We posit that the architecture of these networks may hold the key to discerning patterns in community health and social outcomes. Our study examines the resilience of social care networks, defining them as systems designed to enhance interactions among all nodes to meet diverse community needs. We discuss community as a network and community resilience as a process, introducing three key properties—scale-free, small world, and hubness/information spreading scores, for understanding network resilience. We analyzed 20 social care networks, which have been active over an 18-month period using the referral technology tool to send and receive service referrals, providing raw interaction data among organizational nodes. We focused on two primary objectives: 1) Social care networks are more likely to exhibit scale-free properties and contain influential hubs; and 2) There is significant variability among social care networks in terms of scale-free properties and centrality measures. Using the three properties—small world, scale-free, and hubness/information spreading scores—we classified the 20 social care networks into different structural profiles. We analyzed node,edge radius, diameter, to understand the network structure characteristics. Our findings highlighted four distinct network structures, which we ranked from most to least resilient. We discussed the implications of these structures on community-level outcomes, including the potential centralized vulnerability when hubs and information spreaders overlap, creating efficiency during normal operations but also increasing vulnerability to disruptions. Our findings offer insights into the emergent properties of complex systems, particularly in networks intentionally designed to enhance resilience and meet diverse community needs. We conclude by discussing the variability in centrality and structural metrics within the identified groups and propose future research directions to explore the long-term impact of these network structures.

This research is grounded in the theory that scale-free networks form between many organizations in a community when coordinating social care services and influential hubs in the network emerge (Barabási & Réka, 1999).We explore the variability in the structures of social care networks, focusing on how the diverse needs of community members and the array of providers influence these structures. We posit that the architecture of these networks may hold the key to discerning patterns in community health and social outcomes. Our study examines the resilience of social care networks, defining them as systems designed to enhance interactions among all nodes to meet diverse community needs. We discuss community as a network and community resilience as a process, introducing three key properties—scale-free, small world, and hubness/information spreading scores, for understanding network resilience. We analyzed 20 social care networks, which have been active over an 18-month period using the referral technology tool to send and receive service referrals, providing raw interaction data among organizational nodes. Pipeline fitness-for-service and maintenance prioritization both require knowledge of the line pipe�s mechanical properties and fracture resistance. This report presents such information for a broad range of steels, including vintage Grades A and B as well as early X-grades up through X52 produced from 1930 to 1970. Thirty-six data sets for steels over this range of grades were presented in terms of full-range curves for steels produced up through 1960, while results for another ~150 steels produced until 1970 were summarized in tabular format. Strength and toughness (via CVN and/or DWTT) data were presented with pipe vintage, line-pipe geometry, seam type, steel chemistry, and supplier.

The Golog action programming language is a powerful means to express high-level behaviours in terms of programs over actions defined in a Situation Calculus theory. In particular for physical systems, verifying that the program satisfies certain desired temporal properties is often crucial, but undecidable in general, the latter being due to the language’s high expressiveness in terms of first-order quantification and program constructs. So far, approaches to achieve decidability involved restrictions where action effects either had to be contextfree (i.e. not depend on the current state), local (i.e. only affect objects mentioned in the action’s parameters), or at least bounded (i.e. only affect a finite number of objects). In this paper, we present a new, more general class of action theories (called acyclic) that allows for context-sensitive, non-local, unbounded effects, i.e. actions that may affect an unbounded number of possibly unnamed objects in a state-dependent fashion. We contribute to the further exploration of the boundary between decidability and undecidability for Golog, showing that for acyclic theories in the two-variable fragment of first-order logic, verification of CTL properties of programs over ground actions is decidable
