Abstract:

ABSTRAKTeknik forehand groundstroke dan backhand groundstroke merupakan salah satu teknik yang sangat penting dalam permainan tenis lapangan. Petenis kebanyakan kehilangan angka karena tidak menguasai teknik forehand groundstroke dan backhand groundstroke dengan baik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui tingkat kemampuan forehand groundstroke dan backhand groundstroke padasiswa sekolah tenis Menoreh Tennis Club, Handayani Tennis Club dan Bantul Tennis Camp.Penelitian ini menggunakan metode survei dengan teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan tes dan pengukuran. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Dyer Tennis Test. Validitas instrumen Dyer Tennis Test antara 0,80 sampai 0,90 dan reliabilitas instrumen adalah 0,90. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa sekolah tenis Menoreh Tennis Club, Handayani Tennis Club dan Bantul Tennis Camp sebanyak 32 siswa, terdiri dari 20 siswa laki-laki dan 12 siswa perempuan.Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tingkat kemampuan forehand groundstrokes siswa sekolah tenis Menoreh Tennis Club, Handayani Tennis Club dan Bantul Tennis Camp berkategori “sedang”. Secara terperinci terdapat 2 siswa (6,25%) berkategori “baik sekali”, 5 siswa (15,63%) berkategori “baik”, 15 siswa (46,87%) berkategori “sedang”, 8 siswa (25%) berkategori “kurang” dan 2 siswa (6,25%) rendah. Rata-rata tingkat kemampuan backhand groundstrokes berkategori “sedang”, dengan rincian terdapat 2 siswa (6,25%) berkategori “baik sekali”, 8 siswa (25%) berkategori “baik”, 12 siswa (37,5%) berkategori “sedang”, 8 siswa (25%) berkategori “kurang” dan 2 siswa (6,25%) berkategori “rendah”. Abstract:

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui besar pengaruh antara Latihan forehand drive menggunakan feeding dengan Latihan forehand drive groundstroke ke dinding terhadap hasil forehand drive tenis lapangan atlet putri UKM USU Tennis Club. Metode Penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode eksperimen. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah atlet putri UKM USU Tennis Club yang berjumlah 10 orang. Jumlah sampel yang digunakan berjumlah 8 orang. Sampel di ambil dari populasi dengan teknik purposive random sampling. Instrumen penelitian untuk pengumpulan data dengan Forehand Drive Hewitt Tennis Achievement Test yang bertujuan untuk mengetahui kemampuan forehand drive. Penelitian dilaksanakan selama 6 (enam) minggu dengan latihan 3 kali dalam seminggu. Hasil uji hipotesis I diperoleh thitung =17,3 serta ttabel = 3,18 dengan a = 0,05 (thitung > ttabel) berarti Ho ditolak, artinya terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan dari latihan forehand drive menggunakan feeding terhadap hasil forehand drive tenis lapangan atlet putri UKM USU Tennis Club. Hasil uji hipotesis II diperoleh thitung = 7 serta ttabel = 3,18 dengan a = 0,05 (thitung > ttabel) berarti Ha diterima, artinya terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan dari latihan forehand drive groundstroke ke dinding terhadap hasil forehand drive tenis lapangan atlet putri UKM USU Tennis Club. Hasil Uji hipotesis III diperoleh thitung = 0,66 serta ttabel = 2,45 dengan a = 0,05 (thitung < ttabel) berarti Ho diterima, artinya latihan forehand drive menggunakan feeding secara signifikan lebih besar pengaruhnya dari latihan forehand drive groundstroke ke dinding terhadap hasil forehand drive tenis lapangan pada atlet putri UKM USU Tennis Club.

Abstract:

Purpose By using table tennis as an example and conducting an in-depth investigation into the impact of market demand factors on membership consumption of table tennis club members in the USA, the purpose of this paper is to illustrate the opportunities and marketing efforts needed for Asian sports to survive and thrive in North America, in which consumer demand factors assessing core program features of table tennis clubs were found to be very influential of cognitive, affective, and behavioral consumptions of table tennis club members. Design/methodology/approach Through conducting a review of literature, observations of club operations, and interviews of club administrators and club members representing various table tennis clubs, a preliminary questionnaire was formulated for this study. The initial questionnaire was submitted to a panel of five experts, for a test of content validity. By incorporating their suggestions, editing was made to improve a number of the items in the questionnaire. Data collection took place in two national table tennis tournaments, two local tournaments, and six table tennis clubs. Procedures in SPSS 19.0 (SPSS, 2009) and Mplus 5.21 were carried out for data analyses. Findings The findings of this study are that market demand factors would be significantly related to consumer perceived benefits and perceived value, and in turn related to consumer satisfaction of table tennis club membership. The market demand factors had a positive impact on perceived value and benefits confirmed the theoretical framework and previous research findings, which also made a practical sense that a table tennis club needs to offer product features and meet expectations of its current and potential members in order to enhance program value and benefits perceived by its members. Originality/value The past two decades have marked the speediest rise of a globalized sport production and consumption trend. In an era of globalized sport marketplace, sports have become a business commodity to meet the needs of commerce. For an Asian sport to penetrate into the North American marketplace as table tennis has done, it would be wise to develop regional network, strategies, product, and promotions. It is expected that table tennis as a popular Asian sport will continue being spread to other parts of the world; thus, the findings of this study have potential relevance to promoting table tennis globally.

Abstract:

This study examined sport and interpersonal competitiveness between 92 tennis club players and 155 professional players (131 active and 24 retired) and also considered sex differences, differences in stage of career, and performance. Analysis indicated that tennis professionals scored higher on both sport and interpersonal measures of competitiveness than amateur tennis players and that competitiveness remains stable across stages of career. In addition, female tennis professionals scored higher on sport competitiveness than males. Neither measure of competitiveness was significantly related to professional ranking.

Participant observation revealed that this “leisure sport” was in fact highly work-like—the pursuit of athletic status being structured by a system of “implicit-tournament” norms defining where, when, and with whom one played—a predictable side effect of the dominant U.S. culture, with its economic ideology of laissez-faire capitalism and blurred distinction between work and play.

Abstract:

This study aims to create a development of forehand spin training media to determine the effectiveness level of forehand spin training media development in table tennis. The problem in this study was the absence of training media focused on increasing forehand spin and the unknown of the effectiveness of developing forehand spin training media named roll spin. The research method used was development research. The development procedure used included several stages, namely: 1) Analyzing the product being developed, 2) Developing the initial product, 3) Validating the expert, 4) Field testing, 5) Product revision, 6) Field testing. The instruments used were questionnaires and interviews. The results showed that the development of roll spin media proved effective as a medium of training to improve forehand spin of table tennis at UPGRIS Table Tennis club with the results of the effectiveness of media experts with a mean score of 4.5 in the "very good" category, the results of the material experts with a mean score of 4.7 in the "very good" category, and the results of the trial with the participants of UPGRIS Table Tennis club with an average number of 3.84 in the "good" category.

Tennis and golf, as well as numerous other sports, found their way to Germany in the era of the Wilhelmine Empire. Hoteliers in German health resorts, operators of private sports grounds or commercial playground companies, among others, played a significant role. Uhlenhorst, a district of Hamburg since 1894, was already the venue for major tennis tournaments with international players in the early 1890s. At that time, the London merchant, tennis player and sports official Walter Howard donated a silver cup to the Ice Rink Club on Uhlenhorst (Eisbahnverein auf der Uhlenhorst), which was used as a prize for the “Championship of Hamburg”. This article goes into Walter Howard’s biography and outlines his commitment to Hamburg tennis, which also gave important impulses to women’s tennis.

<strong>Abstract:</strong> There are many forms of training to improve the quality of physical condition of the tennis court athletes, one of which is coordination training. Thus, the author would like to try applying various forms of coordination exercises that are applied to children aged 10-11 years who participate in tennis clubs in the City of Tasikmalaya to support hand coordination. The aim of this research is to find out eye-hand coordination in elementary school students. The focus of this research is limited to the effectiveness of Coordination to support good physical condition in children. This research used experimental research methods. The population in this research were all 30 children who joined the tennis club in Tasikmalaya City. The sampling technique used is the total sampling technique. In order to get objective data, the author uses a measuring instrument in the form of a test that is eye-hand coordination test. Based on the results of this research and statistical calculations on the data obtained in this research, the authors can conclude that coordination exercises have a significant influence on improving eye-hand coordination especially for beginner tennis players of elementary school age.

Abstract:

Aim: This research was conducted to examine the relationship between motivation levels and optimal performance mood in tennis players. Research, who played tennis federation due to the tennis club in Turkey is evaluated. Methods: Motivation scale and optimal performance mood scale were used as data collection tools. The scales were sent to 400 tennis players. The data of 308 tennis games that filled the scales completely were used in the study. Tennis players participated in the research voluntarily. The tennis players participating in this study were randomly selected. Pearson Product Moment Correlation analysis was used to determine the relationship between motivation and emotional states of tennis players in the analysis of the data. The relationship between motivation sub-dimensions and optimal performance emotional state total scores was examined. The analysis of the data was evaluated at the significance level of p <0.01. Conclusion: After the analysis of tennis players, no statistically significant relationship was found between internal motivation and identification with regulation and optimal performance mood. He showed that there is a statistically significant and negative relationship between identification and regulation and non-motivation and between internal motivation and external regulation. We can say that motivation can have an effect on the optimal performance mood of tennis players.

Abstract:

Background: Outdoor smoke-free policies (SFPs) at sports clubs represent an important new area of tobacco control, as many people, including youth, spend a large portion of their free time participating in sports. Nevertheless, the majority of sports clubs worldwide still have not adopted an outdoor SFP. The aim of this study is to explore the perceptions of key stakeholders at different Dutch sports clubs concerning the adoption of an outdoor SFP. Methods: Semi-structured interviews were held with 41 key stakeholders at seven Dutch sports clubs (in field hockey, football, tennis, or korfball) without an outdoor SFP. A thematic approach was used to analyze the data. Results: The majority of respondents reported considerations that were favorable towards adoption of an outdoor SFP, including expected support from club members, changing social norms with regard to smoking, and few members who smoke. Most of all, respondents valued the protection of children from the harmful effects of smoking. However, they also foresaw a number of problems in case of adoption, including impaired social functioning of the sports club, problems with compliance and enforcement, conflict with smokers’ interest, and low priority in club management. Conclusions: Although stakeholders at sports clubs recognize the intrinsic value of an outdoor SFP, they foresee practical problems that are inherent to sports clubs. Adoption could be enhanced by articulating the importance of protecting children from the harmful effects of smoking, referring to ‘success stories’ at sports clubs that are already smoke-free, and actively involving smokers in the adoption process.

Abstract:

The main feature of the period of participation in tournaments is the need to maintain a specific level of special ability. Therefore, the specifics of physical training has an applied-functional nature to high-level loads. Its purpose is to ensure maximum special training and maintain its level, as well as maintaining general training. Aim. Determining the features of physical training of young tennis players for competitions. Research methods: analysis of scientific and methodological sources; observation; measurement and accounting; instrumental techniques; statistical analysis. Results. In the process of ascertaining experiment, the current level of physical and technical readiness of young tennis players was determined a week before the start of participation in tournaments. In the process of formative experiment, the effectiveness of the developed set of physical training exercises was determined, which was used directly during the participation of young tennis players in tennis tournaments, which had a training (simulation) character and were held on the basis of the club and other clubs. Conclusions. The obtained data partially testify in favor of application of the developed methodical complexes for physical training of young players during competitions. Requires a more detailed study of the selection of test exercises to assess young tennis players during participation in competitions. The use of the developed complexes only partially affected the dynamics of the strength abilities of the legs and shoulder girdle. The temp of blows also did not change significantly, but the complexes did not contain specific exercises to improve it. Thus, the presented complexes are promising for use for physical training of tennis players during participation in competitions, but require more thorough testing efficiency.

Abstract:

The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of periodized core training program on the serve velocity in male tennis players aged 11-13 years. 24 male nationally ranged (age 11.9±1.63, height 154.4±11.32, weight 43±8.76) participated to the study from a professional tennis club. Pre-post-training - control group design was applied and subjects were randomly assigned to Control Group and Training Group. Training Group participated to the core training program consisted of isometric and isotonic core stabilization exercises on stable and nonstable surfaces, three days in a week for 8 weeks in addition to tennis training sessions. Accurate service velocity, was assessed initially and at the end of the 8-week core program for both control and training groups. There was a significant improvement (6.6 %) in the serve velocity for the training group after the experiment, whereas there were no differences in the control group. Core stabilization training improved service velocity for young tennis players. It is recommended tennis coaches to apply periodized core stabilization exercises to young athletes and plan training programs in this way. ÖzetBu çalışmanın amacı 11-13 yaş arası erkek tenisçilerde periyodlanmış core antrenman programının isabetli servis hızına etkisini incelemektir. Çalışmaya profesyonel bir tenis kulübünden ulusal müsabık 24 erkek tenisçi (yaş 11.9±1.63, boy 154.4±11.32, ağırlık 43±8.76) katılmıştır. Araştırmada ön-test son-test kontrol gruplu model uygulanmış, denekler iki gruba rastgele atanmıştır. 12 sporcu Kontrol Grubunu, 12 sporcu ise Deney Grubunu oluşturmuştur. Deney Grubuna haftanın üç günü yarım saatlik 8 hafta boyunca toplamda 24 antrenman birimi stabil ve stabil olmayan yüzeylerde izometrik ve izotonik core stabilizasyon egzersizlerinden oluşan program, tenis antrenmanlarına ek olarak uygulanmıştır. Program öncesi ve sonrasında her katılımcı maksimal hızda 10 servis kullanarak en hızlı ve geçerli atışları kaydedilmiştir. Core antrenman uygulaması sonrası Kontrol Grubunun servis atış hızı değişmezken, Deney Grubu servis atış hızını ortalama 120.93 km/s hızdan 128.6 km/s hıza (% 6.6) çıkarmıştır. Core antrenman uygulamalarının genç tenisçilerde isabetli servis hızını olumlu etkilediği tespit edilmiştir. Tenis antrenörlerinin yüksek şiddet içermeyen, core antrenmanlarını ve stabilizasyon uygulamalarını genç sporcularda uygulamasının yararlı olacağı düşünülmekte ve antrenman programlarını buna göre planlamaları tavsiye edilmektedir.

Abstract:

The paper presents results of empirical study on elite international athletes and Polish coaches working in the Polish top table tennis clubs. It focuses on foreign players and investigated Polish the perceptions of coaches with regard to the differences between sports cultures in foreign players’ countries of origin and Poland, and their consequences for efficiency of sport training and competition results. Major research findings concerned Chinese athletes. Another issue analysed in the paper concerns on-going discussion on the limits, costs and benefits of introducing international players into national sport leagues. Based on the research results and literature review, we analyse the perceived impact of foreign players on the table tennis training system in Poland, relationships between Polish and foreign players and the role of international players in club competition. Applying qualitative research allowed the authors to present the insights and views of the investigated athletes and coaches, and to analyse problems occurring in the sport careers of international sport migrants a sport discipline that has hitherto not received much scrutiny.

Abstract:

Problem of this research was derived from the observation which the researcher found in the field whether in training or competition. There are still many tennis players not able to do the flat service well and properly. This can be seen from theresult of flat service done less maximum. The purpose of the research was to find out how big the contribution of the grip strength and waist flexibility on the accuracy of flat service for tennis players of PTL UNP. Type of the research was correlational research. The population of the research was all tennis players of PTL UNP which consisted of 35 people. The sample in this research was taken by using purposive sampling in which it was taken based on the purpose or the research need. Therefore, the sampel of the research was male players who followed a training in the tennis training club of UNP. They are around 18-24 years old that totaled 20 people. This research was done at PTL UNP club. The grip strength data of PTL UNP tennis players were taken by using hand grip dynamometer test. The waist flexibility data were taken by flexiometer test and the accuracy of flat service data were taken from the playersâ€™ accuracy o f flat service.Based on the data analysis, some results were obtained: (1) there was a contribution between the grip strength and the accuracy of flat service , in which the contribution was 62.1%. (2) there was a contribution between the waist flexibility an d the accuracy of flat service , in which the contribution was 62.1%. (3) there was a contribution between the grip strength and waist flexibility on the accuracy of flat service, in which the contribution was 68.3%. It can be concluded that the gripstrength and waist flexibility contribute on the accuracy of flat service.

Abstract:

Aim: The aim of the study was to assess the body composition, endurance level and usual nutrient intakes in female players representing a Sports Club in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates.Materials and Methods: Twenty-six adult female players aged between 15-24 years were selected from three different teams (basketball=12, tennis=4, volleyball=10) using convenience sampling technique. All participants were assessed for body composition through bioelectrical impedance method, endurance level using step test and nutrient intakes using 24-hour recall method. Significant differences (P < 0.05) were determined among the three teams in relation to body composition, endurance levels and nutrient intakes.Results: Body composition of players in three sports was significantly different in terms of body mass index, body fat mass, and percentage body fat and fitness scores. Tennis players had significantly higher body fat mass (28.5 ± 8.2 kg) and percent body fat (41 ± 7%) in contrast to that in basketball players (body fat mass: 19.2 ± 10.5 kg; percent body fat: 30.6 + 7.9%) and tennis players (body fat mass: 13 ± 4.2 kg; percent body fat: 26.5 ± 6.5%), respectively. On the other hand, volleyball players had significantly higher fitness score (72.2 ± 3.5) as compared to basketball players (71 ± 6.7), and tennis players (63 ± 8.2).On an average, volleyball players scored “very good” endurance level in contrast to “good” scores in basketball and tennis team players. However, this difference was not statistically significant.The average intakes of all nutrients including energy, protein, vitamins and minerals were below the recommended intakes among players of all sports teams. Conclusions: Body composition and endurance level differ with the type of sports. Volleyball team players had the lowest BMI, body fat mass as well as percent body fat and highest fitness score and endurance level. However, the overall nutrient intakes of the female players representing the three teams were less than the recommended allowances for highly active women and did not differ with the type of sports played.

This study analyzed the process of socialization of elite tennis players, thereby contributing to an explanation of the success experienced by Swedish tennis players in recent years. The top five male and top five female Swedish players, along with parents and coaches, were interviewed regarding background, early life sport experiences, and development. All five males held ranking positions among the 15 best in the world. The control group was chosen by matching pairs regarding age, sex, and junior ranking. Results indicated that both groups at the ages of 12 to 14 were equal, but after puberty the development of the groups diverged. As teenagers, some elite players were ranked among the world’s top players while the control group players did not experience success. The results clearly indicate that it is not possible to predict who will develop into a world-class tennis player based on individual talent alone. Personal qualifications and early life experiences in combination with social structures, tradition of sport, and tennis culture all worked together in an optimal way, particularly the local club environment and the players’ relationships to coaches.

Participants (n=35) were assigned to one of the two groups according to their experience, weekly training volume and competition level. Serve speed was assessed with a sports radar gun. Motor coordination was evaluated by means of the Körperkoordinationstest für Kinder. The main results revealed that serve speed and motor coordination performance levels of the elite group were significantly higher than those of the club group. This study emphasized the importance of early participation and training intensity, which can play an important role in enhancement of serve speed and motor coordination.

The Wimbledon Championships, staged annually at the All England Lawn Tennis Club (AELTC), is a British sporting event of great social significance. Its popularity stretches beyond the high standards of tennis on display to what it seems to represent culturally for many people. Wimbledon’s public image has been carefully constructed over the years, with consideration given to how the players look, behave, and play; the appearance of the courts and AELTC grounds; the refreshments; its corporate partners; and its relationship to television and media generally. This study suggests that many of these aspects, including Wimbledon’s fashions and the all-whites clothing rule, the grass courts, the strawberries and cream and Pimm’s, the royal box, “Henman Hill,“ and the eulogizing of Fred Perry, conform to Eric Hobsbawm’s concept of “invented traditions.” Through analysis of Wimbledon’s subtle branding and constructed public image, as gleaned from testimonies from AELTC executive-committee members and high-profile Wimbledon officials, this article discusses how these invented traditions serve various functions for the AELTC, namely, to establish social cohesion among an “imagined community” of Wimbledon fans, to legitimize Wimbledon’s high status globally, and to inculcate beliefs, value systems, and behavioral conventions in tandem with Wimbledon’s nostalgia for its amateur “golden age.”

Subjects or samples in this study were PTMSI athletes in Bengkulu, totaling 20 people.The instruments used in this study were a questionnaire, a questionnaire, as well as an arm muscle strength test instrument and a forehand drive skill test instrument used to collect data. The stages in this study are: (1) Conducting observations, (2) distributing questionnaires and questionnaires, and (3) testing instruments for arm muscle strength and forehand drive skills. As for the value obtained r count 0.65> r table 0.468.Based on the data obtained, it can be concluded that there is a significant relationship between arm muscle strength and forehand drive skills in table tennis.

Tennis is a sports branch with a lot of coordinated properties. The physical, physiological and motoric properties of the athlete are at optimum level, which influences the stroke performance positively. The aim of this study is to investigate the relationship between biomotoric properties and Hewitt test performance in 13-15 years old tennis players. 10 healthy female tennis players (age: 14.00±1.05 years, height: 158.60±3.69 cm, weight: 53.57±5.22 kg, experience: 3.40±1.58 years) who played in Pamukkale University tennis club participated in this study voluntarily. In anthropometric measurements height, body weight, leg lengths and dominant hand were recorded. Left and right hand grip, countermovement and squat jumps test, flexibility, standing long jump, static and dynamic balance, star test, Wall Catch coordination test and Hewitt performance test were applied to the tennis players. In the statistical analysis of the data, descriptive analyzes of all test performance characteristics of the tennis players were calculated as mean and standard deviation. The relationships between biomotoric properties and Hewitt test performance were evaluated using Pearson Product Moment Correlation analysis. The statistical significance was set at p<0.05. Statistically significant correlation was found between Hewitt test (groundstroke performance) and Wall Catch coordination test (r= 0.865; p<0.01). There was no significant correlation between Hewitt test and leg lengths, dominant hand, left-right foot dynamic balance, standing long jump, flexibility, jump performance, left and right hand grip and star tests (p>0.05). As a result, the use of tests with similar movements special to tennis in evaluating the athlete's performance can accurately reflect the athlete's test values.

The purpose of the present investigation was to compare Australian tennis coaches’ frequency of use, and perceived effectiveness, of 13 self-efficacy building strategies to those of American tennis coaches. Subjects were 60 Australian tennis coaches coaching at the club or state level. Results indicated that Australian coaches used all 13 strategies designed to enhance selfefficacy to a moderate degree and found these techniques to be at least moderately effective. The most often-used strategies to enhance self-efficacy, as well as those strategies found most effective, included encouraging positive self-talk, modeling confidence oneself, using instruction drills, using rewarding statements liberally, and using verbal persuasion. When comparing the results of the Australian and American coaches, few differences were found. However, the American coaches used more of the following self-efficacy strategies: conditioning drills, the modeling of other successful players, the emphasis that feelings of anxiety are not fear but are a sign of readiness, and the emphasis that failure results from lack of effort or experience and not from a lack of innate ability. Results are discussed in terms of Bandura’s self-efficacy theory and Weinberg and Jackson’s (1990) efficacy-building strategies used by American tennis coaches. Future directions for research are offered.

Execution redundancy, defined as varying technique for a similar outcome, is a newer defined type of variability which opens new avenues of thinking about tennis training. 19 club-level tennis players were put through different training interventions: low variability where players had to rally to hit a target and maintain technique; and, high variability where players did the same but varied technique slightly. The high variability group improved after a retention period of 1 week in a test of accuracy (measuring average distance of 4 balls hit to a target) and success (measuring number of balls over the net and within a target radius of 500cm). The results suggest that that varying technique for a similar outcome improves performance more than low variability, possibly due mechanisms surrounding increased exploration creating better adapted motor patterns. The results show positive support for variability of this kind of training, but care needs to be taken to ensure that sound biomechanical and technical principles are observed.

Abstract:

This research is motivated by the importance of physical components to the results of the speed of the smash on table tennis including reaction time and arm power. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between reaction time and arm power with the speed of a smash ball in a table tennis game. This study uses a correlational research method. The sample in this study were active members of the Jabung Garut club. A total of 20 samples were taken using purposive sampling technique. The instruments used in this study are the ruler drop test to measure the speed of reaction time and the softball throw test to measure arm power. Data analysis used Statistical Product for Social Science (SPSS) version 22. The results of data analysis showed that there was a significant relationship between reaction time and the smash ball speed, which was p = 0.000 <0.05 with a value of r = -0.719, while the relationship between arm power and ball speed smash results p = 0.001 <0.05 which means there is a significant relationship, and the relationship between reaction time and arm power together with the ball speed smash results produce a significant relationship with the significance of 0.001 <0.05 and r = 0.547. From these results it can be concluded that there is a significant relationship between reaction time and arm power with the speed of the ball smash in table tennis. Abstract:

Aim: To examine the effects of coordination applied to 8-10 years old female athletes on tennis and some motor skills. Metodology: The athletes were randomly divided into experiment and control groups by applying Dewitt-Dugan tennis test, standing long jump, vertical jump, 20m speed, T test and square test. In the study, while the control group only participated in club training for 8 weeks, 5 days a week and 60 min.and the experimental group added coordination training education. Data was collected and entered in SPSS 22.0. Results: There was a significant difference (p<0.05) in the parameters of all measurements of the experimental group in the standing long jump, vertical jump, 20m speed, t test and Dewitt-Dugan parameters and no significant change in the square test results (p>0.05). Among the final measurement values of the experimental and control groups, significant differences were found in favor of the experimental group in the values of standing long jump, vertical jump, 20m speed and Dewitt-Dugan parameters, except for the T test and the square test (p<0.05). Conclusion: It can be said that the 8-week coordination training applied to the experimental group has a positive effect on the motor characteristics and tennis skill, and specific coordination movements added to each unit training can be beneficial for the athletes. Vitreloy, a metallic–glass alloy of zirconium and beryllium from Amorphous Technologies International (ATI) in Laguna Niquel, CA, is extensively being used in golf clubs. Liquidmetal golf-club heads are fabricated from an amorphous metal alloy that has excellent rebound and vibration-absorbing properties. Research indicates that the prized physical properties of metallic glasses arise in large part from their lack of grain boundaries, which can serve as points of weakness. Liquidmetal putters have a ‘soft’ feel when striking the ball, which the makers claim provides players with improved touch on putting greens. The elevated strength-to-weight ratios exhibited by Liquidmetal alloys make the metallic glasses promising for a range of high-performance applications. The purpose of the present study was to examine the relation between the physical characteristics of male tennis players who were aged 10–12 and their service strike speeds. A total of 13 licensed male tennis players (mean age 10.1±0.1 years, mean height 1.46±.06 m, mean body weight 38.7±1.8 kg, mean sporting age 4.7±0.3 years) who played at Middle East Technical University Tennis Club participated in the study. The demographic, anthropometric, (width, length, circumference, and subcutaneous fat) and ball speed measurements of the tennis players were taken and recorded. The data were analyzed by using the “Descriptive Statistics” and “Pearson Correlation” in the Statistical Package Program. When length measurements were examined, it was determined that although there was a positive relation between ball speeds and hand length (p<0.05); a negative relation was detected between the other measurements (p>0.05). When the width measurements were evaluated, it was determined that although there was a positive relation between ball speeds and chest, elbow and wrist widths (p<0.05); a negative relation was detected between the other measurements (p>0.05). In terms of the circumferences, although a positive relation was detected between ball speeds and arm contraction, chest, chest inspiration, and chest expiration circumference (p<0.05); a negative relation was detected between the other circumference measurements (p>0.05). When subcutaneous fat measurements were examined, it was determined that there was a negative relation between ball speeds (p>0.05). As a result, when previous studies and literature were examined, it was determined that many studies emphasized that the factors that affect the service speed of young tennis players have a positive relationship with age. It is obvious that the strength features, and depending on this, anthropometric properties improve with age. It is considered that special force and technical training drills, regardless of the age category, may affect the speed and accuracy of the service strike in tennis. Our study offers a different perspective to coaches on this subject.
