Abstract:
Polish Director Krzysztof Kieślowski made his mark on the world cinema scene with his 10-part TV series The Ten Commandments, produced by Polish national television. In this study, we will focus on the third installment of the series, “The Ten Commandments,”(The Decalogue) which takes place overnight on Christmas Eve. “The Third Commandment”(Decalogue 3) is a collaboration between co-screenwriter Krzysztof Piesiewicz and Piotr Sobociński, the cinematographer of Kieślowski’s last film, Red. This study explores the significance of Kieślowski’s use of Christmas Eve, Poland’s largest holiday, and his embodiment of the universal human experiences of loneliness and melancholy into the celebration of Christmas. In particular, the chapter on scene analysis focuses on the opening and the temporal and spatial arrangement of dramatic events.

Abstract:
AbstractBecause political science draws heavily from other disciplines—psychology and economics—in its use of experimental methods, we often fail to note how each experimental tradition developed in ways, while serving those field's primary goals, that often present contradictory imperatives that may not serve political science equally well. I provide a brief history of experimental traditions in psychology and economics, and then suggest, in all humility, an integrated set of best practices for the use of experiments in political science.

Abstract:
America is a country with Christianity as the major religion. It is the fact that Moses in Christian myth has an important role to the religion of this country. The United States President Harry Truman wrote in 1950 that the fundamental basis of the laws of the United States was the Ten Commandments that were given to Moses. America is also known for the country of freedom. Besides, American freedom has a unique historical story which is about slavery. Harriet Tubman: The Moses of Her People novel depicts the journey and struggle of Harriet in liberating African American slaves. This study aims to identify the incorporation of Moses in Christian myth to the story in the novel and its relation to the spiritual values of human’s life in the present time. The method of this study is qualitative study analysis using structuralism method of Claude Levi Strauss and the Study of Myth by Joseph Campbell. Then, the method of data analysis is based on the story in Harriet Tubman: The Moses of Her People novel and Moses in Christian myth. Bradford’s novel tells about the main character named Harriet who became the leader of African American slaves to the Northern America and Canada for freedom. While in Christian myth, Moses was chosen by God to be the leader of Israelites to go from the land of Egypt bondage for freedom. The final finding of this study shows the conflict of the novel, the incorporation of Moses in Christian myth to the story in the novel and shows the Ten Commandments of Christianity influenced the spiritual values by Americans which is also still relevant today. For instance, most Americans are Christian as the values of the First Commandment; Americans commonly regard their society as the freest and best in the world as the value of the Eight Commandment; the right of American constitutional democracy to attempt to “pursue” happiness in their own way as long as they do not infringe upon the rights of others is a result of the Tenth Commandment; Although there are still some transgressions of one or more of the Commandments, there are somehow many other Americans who are still devoted to the Ten Commandments as moral principles in their daily life. Keywords: African-American, Christian myth, Moses, Slavery, Structuralism

Abstract:
Many Dutch Calvinist churches house a Ten Commandments panel, installed in the late sixteenth or seventeenth century as part of the Reformed adaptation of the medieval Catholic church interior. In this article, the characteristic design of Ten Commandments panels is analyzed as a form of Calvinist visual culture. It suggests that these panels were primarilymade to be viewed rather than thoroughly read. The remarkably figurative Moses imagery on panels points at a divergence between the rigid Reformed theological image prohibition and the practice of the adaptation of the church interior. The placement of Ten Commandments panels in the Reformed church interior highlights their symbolic value: It signified the need for self-examination of the participants in the Lord’s Supper. The original spatial setting of Ten Commandments panels also shows how the newly Reformed furnishing and use of church space was rooted in its late medieval Catholic past.

Abstract:
AbstractMultiple pregnancy represents a challenge for obstetrics and also poses significant psychological, social and economic problems. The chances of a successful outcome may be improved by appropriate preventive, diagnostic and management strategies, by the availability of specific skills and experience and by a multidisciplinary approach. In this paper are indicated and discussed, on the basis of current evidences, what can be considered the ten “commandments” in terms of providing optimal care in multiple pregnancies. In particular in this review we focus on the following topics: psychological support and clinical counseling; diagnosis and characterization of chorionicity; management at referral centers; individualization of care; avoidance of most frequent complications; consideration of specific pathologies; evaluation of fetal anatomy; monitoring of fetuses; planning of time and mode of delivery; monitoring of the mother during postpartum.
