Abstract:

Studiens fokus har legat på hur elever utvecklas i sin läsning under den första terminen i årskurs 1. Vi valde att titta på två klasser i samma kommun, dock inte på samma skola. Vi intervjuade 38 elever angående deras tankar om läsning. Dessutom genomförde vi en kartläggning om var eleverna befann sig när det gällde språklig medvetenhet och läsutveckling i början på skolåret. Vi lät även berörda pedagoger svara på enkäter om hur de arbetar för att stimulera elevernas läsning.

Efter en termin gjorde vi uppföljande tester för att se hur elevernas läsutveckling fortskridit. Slutligen bad vi pedagogerna att berätta om och hur eventuella stödinsatser satts in för att få eleverna att gå framåt i sin läsning.

Resultatet av vår studie blev att alla elever utom en gått framåt i sin läsutveckling. Även de elever som vid skolstarten inte kunde genomföra alla testerna kunde efter en termin själva se att det hade skett en progression. Vi såg ett samband mellan låg språklig medvetenhet och svag läsutveckling. Detta samband kvarstod efter en termin. Spännvidden mellan pojkarnas resultat var större än mellan flickornas när det gällde ordavkodningen, både vid studiens början och vid dess avslutning.

Abstract:

Bakgrund: Psykisk ohälsa är ett växande folkhälsoproblem. Ett av de största hindren för att främja och uppnå psykisk hälsa är stigmatisering, negativa attityder och diskriminering av människor som lider av psykisk ohälsa. Sjuksköterskan har en viktig uppgift att arbeta förebyggande och hälsofrämjande och har därför en central roll i att tidigt uppmärksamma, fånga upp och informera patienter med symptom på psykisk ohälsa. Sjuksköterskans attityd och inställning till patienter, psykisk ohälsa, arbetet och sig själv som vårdare är av stor vikt för en god kvalitet av omvårdnaden. Syfte: Syftet med studien var att undersöka sjuksköterskestudenters attityd till psykisk ohälsa och personer med psykisk sjukdom, samt undersöka om det fanns någon skillnad i attityd mellan studenter i termin ett och termin sex på ett sjuksköterskeprogram i Mellansverige. Syftet var även att undersöka om det fanns skillnad i attityder mellan de studenter som hade egen erfarenhet och de som inte hade det. Metod: Studien hade en kvantitativ design där ett studiespecifikt formulär lämnats ut till studenter som studerar termin ett och termin sex vid ett sjuksköterskeprogram i Mellansverige. Resultat: I studiens resultat framkom det att attityder till psykisk ohälsa skilde sig i vissa avseenden mellan studenter i termin ett och termin sex. De studenter som studerade i termin sex hade i högre grad en mer positiv och öppen attityd. Det visade sig också att studenter som hade egen erfarenhet av psykisk ohälsa hade en mer positiv attityd jämfört med de som ej hade det. Slutsats: Studien visar att besitta kunskap och egen erfarenhet av psykisk ohälsa som sjuksköterskestudent har ett samband med en mer öppen och positiv attityd till psykisk ohälsa. Background: Mental illness is a growing public health problem. The biggest obstacles, facing the promotion and achievement of mental health, are stigma, negative attitudes and discrimination against people suffering from mental illness. The nurse has an important role, especially in the early stages, in the prevention and interception of mental illness, and also instructing patients with symptoms (of mental illness). The nurse's attitude and approach to patients, mental health, work and themselves as carers is essential for a good quality of care. Aim: The aim of this study was to investigate nursing students' attitudes towards mental illness and people with mental illness, and whether there was any difference in attitudes between students in semester one and semester six in a nursing program in Sweden. Another aim was to investigate if there were was any differences between students with experience of mental illness and disease and those without. Method: The study had a quantitative design where a study-specific questionnaire was given to students studying during semester one and semester six of a nursing program in central Sweden. Results: The results of the study showed that attitudes to mental illness differed in some respects between students in semester one and semester six. The students studying in semester six had more positive and open attitudes. It was also found that students who had personal experience of mental illness had a more positive attitude compared to those who had not been in a similar situation. Conclusion: The study shows that nursing students’ knowledge and experience of mental illness is associated with a more open and positive attitude towards mental illness. Abstract:

Questo lavoro propone dei temi sulla tax compliance in un contesto come quello italiano, caratterizzato da un basso livello della stessa. Il primo capitolo propone una ricerca concernente gli effetti dei controlli. Nella letteratura, l’esito degli stessi è ancora discusso, alla luce del fatto che sono possibili due effetti opposti: il target effect ed il bomb-crater effect. Grazie all’impiego di un database dell’Agenzia delle Entrate italiana, con una combinazione di tecniche di of matching e difference – in – difference, questo lavoro mostra come in un particolare contesto, come quello italiano, i controlli possono avere un effetto positivo sulla tax compliance. Il secondo capitolo mostra gli effetti dell’introduzione di una presumptive tax nella forma di una minimum tax. L’obiettivo principale è quello di studiare l’effetto di tale introduzione quando si hanno particolari condizioni. Nello specifico, questa analisi confronta le tasse italiane pagate da un particolare gruppo di contribuenti, con quelle che verrebbero pagate con l’introduzione di una presumptive tax nella forma di una minimum tax. Il presente lavoro include due differenti metodologie di stima di una presumptive tax, sviluppate dall’ISTAT e dall’Agenzia delle Entrate italiana, includendo anche le possibili reazioni dei contribuenti.
This work investigates issues of tax compliance in a context like the Italian one, characterized by a low level of it. The first chapter investigates the role of audits. In the present literature, the outcome of them is an open question since two opposite effects are possible: the target effect and the bomb-crater effect. Using a database provided by the Italian Revenue Agency, with a combination of matching with difference – in – difference techniques, this work shows how in a particular context, such as Italy, audits can have a positive effect on tax compliance. The second chapter explores the effects of implementing a presumptive tax in the form of a minimum tax. The main aim is to study the effect of a change in the policy from a particular starting condition. More specifically, this analysis compares the taxes collected in Italy from a particular group of taxpayers, to the ones that would be collected if Italy implements a presumptive tax in the form of a minimum tax. This work implements two different methodologies to estimate a presumptive tax, provided by ISTAT and the Italian Revenue Agency, and reactions of taxpayers are included as well.

Il secondo capitolo analizza i differenziali salariali fra i diplomati delle scuole superiori italiane. il terzo ed ultimo capitolo analizza le determinanti del tempo di inserimento professionale dei laureati italiani.
My dissertation is a collection of three essays that consider various aspects of the Italian education system and its links with the labour market. The first chapter provides a review of the empirical works focused on the issue of investments in both secondary and tertiary education in most of OECD countries, with a particular attention on Italy. The second chapter provides empirical evidence on differences in early occupational labour market outcomes across high school tracks. The third and last chapter investigates the hazard of first job for Italian university graduates.

Abstract:

Bakgrund: Väl undersökta psykometriska egenskaper krävs för att använda ett instrument. Instrumentet Reasoning 4 Change (R4C) begreppsvaliditet behöver stärkas. Den kan undersökas genom att jämföra det kliniska resonemanget hos extrema grupper vilka kan vara fysioterapeutstudenter med beteendemedicinsk inriktning i olika skeden av utbildningen. Utifrån den social kognitiva teorin kan fysioterapeutstudenterna ses som en viktig omgivningsfaktor för att hjälpa patienter utföra en beteendeförändring. Syfte: Att utvärdera begreppsvalididet för bedömningsinstrumentet R4C genom att jämföra det kliniska resonemanget med fokus på patienters aktivitetsrelaterade beteende och beteendeförändring hos fysioterapeutsstudenter i termin ett och termin sex mätt med instrumentet. Metod: En beskrivande och jämförande tvärsnittsstudie som utgår från data insamlad ifrån flera tillfällen. Totalt deltog 89 termin ett studenter och 47 termin sex studenter. Parametriskt oberoende t-test användes för att analysera resultatet. Resultat: Termin sex studenterna hade signifikant högre resultat på sju av åtta variabler mätt med R4C jämfört med termin ett studenterna, vilket innebar att hypotesen nästan fullständigt bekräftades. Slutsats: Begreppsvaliditeten kan anses som god för den undersökta populationen. För att generalisering till alla fysioterapeutstudenter ska kunna ske behövs vidare forskning.
Background: Evaluation of psychometric properties are necessary to use an instrument. The Reasoning 4 Change (R4C) instrument’s construct validity needs to be strengthened. It can be done by comparing the clinical reasoning by extreme groups which can be physiotherapy students with a behavioral approach in different stages of the education. From the social cognitive theory's perspective, the students can be an important environmental factor to help clients’ perform a behavioral-change. Aim: To evaluate construct validity for the R4C instrument by comparing the clinical reasoning with focus on clients’ activity-related behaviour and behaviour change by physiotherapy students in the first and sixth semester measured with the instrument. Method: A describing and comparing cross-sectional study with data collected from several occasions. A total of 89 first semester students and 47 sixth semester students participated in the study. Parametric independent t-test was used to analyse the results. Result: Students in the sixth semester had significant higher results on seven out of eight variables measured with R4C compared with students in the first semester, that indicate that the hypothesis almost is confirmed. Conclusion: The construct validity can be considered good for the evaluated population. To be able to generalize to all physiotherapy students more studies would be necessary.

Abstract:

En studie med syftet att undersöka de generella temana i individers upplevelse av negativa emotioner. Tidigare forskning inom området har fokuserat på det frågeställningar som exempelvis handlar om negativa emotioners påverkan på individers hälsa. Den här studien söker att utveckla det kvalitativa området inom emotionspsykologi. Två frågeställningar undersöktes: Vad är de generella temana i män och kvinnors upplevelse av negativa emotioner?Finns det en skillnad i upplevelse av negativa emotioner mellan kvinnor och män? Deltagare var 66 individer, i åldrarna 19 till 77 varav 33 män. Materialet samlades in via en kvalitativ enkät och analyserades med meningskoncentrering och genom fenomenologisk tolkning. Resultatet gav fem generella teman: (1) Situation med minskad kontroll, (2) fysiskt upplevelse, (3) psykisk upplevelse, (4) agerande och (5) uppmärksammande. Resultatet gick i linje med tidigare studier men bidrog med att fylla en kunskapslucka med dess kvalitativa inriktning, temat (5) uppmärksammande var ett nytt tema som upptäcktes.

Abstract:

Temik 15G was side-dressed at a rate of 7 lb./acre and 14 lb./acre and compared to an untreated check in 4 experiments in 1996 and 1997 in Buckeye, Az. Treatments were made just prior to early bloom. Lygus counts were taken using a sweep net on weekly intervals for four to six weeks post application. A net positive return on investment (ROI) ranging from $34.79/acre to $48.19/acre was realized in three of the four experiments with the seven lb./acre rate. One experiment resulted in a net economic loss of $24.84. A net positive ROI was experienced in two of the four experiments ranging from $23.31 to $50.11 using the fourteen lb./acre Temik rate. Two of the four experiments resulted in a net loss ranging from $28.28 to $93.27 using the fourteen lb./acre rate. It appears that lint yield increase responses are due in part to a plant response to Temik, not necessarily related to lygus density as evidenced in part by the lack of measured sweep count populations.

The second experiment resulted in a significant 102 lb. lint increase for the 7 lb. treatment with no significant difference for the 14 lb. treatment to the check.

Abstract:

Henning Berger (1872 – 1924) har en plats i den svenska litteraturhistorien som en av få ihågkomna författare från 1900-talets första årtionde, vid sidan av Hjalmar Söderberg och Bo Bergman. Intresset har främst knutits till Bergers USA- och barndomsskildringar, särskilt i Där ute (1901) och Drömlandet (1909). I denna uppsats granskas teman, teknik och stil i de noveller han skrev som bosatt i Danmark under 1910-talet, och som han har förlagt till dansk miljö. Framställningen refererar till tidigare undersökningar och omdömen av framför allt Sven Lagerstedt och Fredrik Böök. I analysen används delvis en biografisk ansats med stöd av Bergers brev och uppgifter från Bergers samtida. Med den biografiska ansatsen visas på paralleller mellan Bergers liv och novellernas karaktärer, särskilt ifråga om kvinnobilder. Den förfarne novellfabrikören Berger beskrivs genom den marknadsorientering han tillämpar, bland annat i spök- och kriminalberättelser, och den klassiska novellteknik han ofta tillämpar. Vidare behandlas hans impressionistiska stilkonst, delvis i förbindelse med danska föregångare. I slutdiskussionen tas spekulativt upp hur Berger i slutet av 1910-talet synes närma sig ett ”modernare” tilltal, i samklang med den splittrade europeiska tillvaron efter första världskriget.

Abstract:

Tiivistelmä Työn aiheena on kulttuurinen puolustus Suomessa oleskelevien maahanmuuttajien ja ulkomaalaisten rikollisten tekojen perusteluissa. Tarkastelen, millaisten tekojen selittämisessä kulttuuri nostetaan esille, ja pohdin kuinka henkilön kulttuuri ylipäätään soveltuu rikoksen motiiviksi. Työssä käsittelen kulttuurin ja yksilön toiminnan välistä monimutkaista suhdetta sekä lainsäädännön mahdollisuuksia kulttuurin rikosoikeudelliseen huomioonottamiseen. Kulttuurinen puolustus voidaan ymmärtää vähemmistön oikeuksia turvaavana työkaluna enemmistön ehdoilla rakennetussa oikeusjärjestelmässä, jonka soveltamisen kautta rikoksen motiiveja kyetään tarkastelemaan erityisen perusteellisella ja luotettavalla tavalla. Toisaalta kulttuuri voi useissa tilanteissa paljastua liian epämääräiseksi ja myös manipulaatioalttiiksi rikollisen toiminnan selittäjäksi, minkä lisäksi huolta herättää kulttuurisen puolustuksen mahdollisesti edistämä, olemuksellinen käsitys kulttuurista. Työn pääasiallinen aineisto koostuu paikan päällä havainnoiduista oikeudenkäynneistä (8 kpl), minkä lisäksi olen tehnyt yksilöhaastatteluja (5 kpl). Analyysin kohteena ovat kenttätyömuistiinpanojen ja haastattelujen litteroitujen versioiden lisäksi oikeudenkäyntipöytäkirjat sekä kirjalliset tuomiot. Varsinaiset aineistonkeruumenetelmät ovat institutionaalinen etnografia ja teemahaastattelu. Analyysimenetelmänä on puolestaan sovellettu laadullisen aineiston teemoitteluun ja tiivistämiseen perustuvaa sisällönanalyysia, jonka olen määritellyt Tuomen ja Sarajärven (2009) jaottelua mukaillen teoriaohjaavaksi. Työn teoreettiset käsitteet tulevat antropologiasta, oikeussosiologiasta ja kriminologiasta, ja teoreettis-metodologinen lähtökohta on sosiaalisessa konstruktionismissa. Aineistossani kulttuurin ja rikolliseksi määriteltävän käyttäytymisen välillä nähtiin usein käytännössä yhteys, mutta oikeudessa näitä kulttuuriin sidottuja rikoksen motiiveja ei kuitenkaan tunnustettu. Tulkintani mukaan varsinaista kulttuurista puolustusta pyrittiin soveltamaan syytetyn toimesta yhdessä oikeudenkäynnissä. Kulttuuriin vetoava retoriikka rikollisen käyttäytymisen selittämisessä oli kuitenkin aineistossani vahvasti läsnä, jolloin vakavana puutteena voidaankin pitää kulttuuristen motiivien määrittelemätöntä asemaa lainsäädännössä. Kulttuurinen puolustus on puutteistaan huolimatta varteenotettava puolustusperuste joissain rikostapauksissa, jolloin sen soveltamisessa tulisi noudattaa määriteltyä, yhtenäistä linjaa. Erityisesti antropologisella erityisosaamisella olisi paljon annettavaa luotettavien kulttuuristen motiivien seulomisessa sekä toisaalta kulttuurin väärinkäyttötapauksilta välttymään pyrittäessä.

La prose et la poesie de verlaine se font l'echo de sa vie. D'aucuns pensent ou disent que c'est trop. Et cependant il est difficile de demeler l'echeveau du vecu et de l'imaginaire verlainien. Une perception tres personnelle des evenements nous inivte a nous interroger sur leur valeur et sur leur portee. Ni majeurs, ni mineurs, traites sur un meme plan d'egalite, ils mettent en evidence deux caracteristiques fondamentales pour l'esthetique verlainienne, l'instantaneite et l'ambivalence. La posture verlainienne vagabonde d'un ideal a l'autre. L'espace temps ainsi delimite nous donne la dimension de la conversion verlainienne. Quel que soit le domaine auquel on s'adresse - moral, religieux, amoureux ou politque -, l'ennui apparait comme le ressort essentiel de la volte-face. Chaque geste, chaque mouvement supporte un contre-poids. La contre-valeur s'exprime par une nausee qui met un terme a l'exces. Ainsi se manifeste pour une part la perversite verlainienne. Le discours dominant du dix-neuvieme siecle ne manque pas depingler ce genre de comportement. A partir de criteres morpho-physiologiques, certaines personnes ont repertorte les "troubles" verlainiens. Du comportement a l'ecriture, il est un pas que la critique litteraire de la fin de siecle a franchi aisement. Elle s'engouffre dans la breche ouverte par les tableaux cliniques des discours medicaux. Le gout pour la seriation l'emporte sans discernement; elle decele meme, au niveau du vers, les traces d'un dereglement physiologique
Verlaine's prose and poetry faithfully mirror his life. Some will think, or argue, that is going to much, it would, however, be virtually impossible to untangle the interwoven therads of verlaine's material and imaginative existence. His highly personnal perception of events invites reflection on their value and on their implications. Neither is of more or less weight than the other and examined on the same level, they reveal two fundamental facets of verlaine's aesthetics, spontaneity and ambivalence. Verlaine's outlook wandres from one ideal to another. The spatio-temporal scale of his wanderings reflects the scale of verlaine's conversion. Whatever the field addressed - moral, religious, sexual or political boredom - which, above all, seems to account for a change of view, his every gesture, and his every inclination seems to invite and incite some counter-mouvement. Excess in one direction culminates in a wave of revulsion as some opposing inclination wells up to displace it. This, im part, is the way in which verlaine's perversity expresses itself. The mainstream of 19tch century thought could scarcely fail to seize on such behavoiur. La these se propose d'en rechercher la dimension historique et d'apprecier la vision de francois mauriac sur des evenements qui ont marque profondement et durablement la vie des francais. Title: "francois mauriac, the novelist as a witness to french decolonisation" contents of the thesis after the nobel prize he got in 1952, francois mauriac's literary career has been followed by important journalistic works collected in the "bloc-notes" which comprises five volumes. Though the novelist has taken interest in all the problems of the time, the effects of the process of decolonisation on institutions and on french society hold on an important ( a preponderant) place in this work. Uppsatsen bygger på sex stycken enskilda intervjuer med anställda arbetsledare inom snabbmatsrestaurangbranschen i Värmlands län. Syftet för undersökningen är att belysa vilka arbetstrivselfaktorer det finns för dessa arbetsledare. Vi har bland annat varit intresserade av att titta på relationerna mellan arbetskamrater och vilken roll dessa spelar som en arbetstrivselfaktor. Särskild vikt har lagts vid att förstå var arbetsledarna utvecklar dessa relationer och stärker dess kvalité. Metoden för insamlande av data är av kvalitativ karaktär i form av semistrukturerade intervjuer. Studiens resultat visar att alla intervjudeltagare uppger att de trivs med sitt arbete förbehållet att det finns vissa fysiska och psykiska arbetsmiljöförbättringar som skulle vara av godo. Det främsta argumentet för arbetstrivseln är arbetsledarnas arbetskamrater. Dessa relationer utvecklas delvis på jobbet. Vad vi dock upptäckt är att fritiden till stor del används för att utveckla dessa relationer. Detta föder i sin tur även kvalité i relationerna.

The study of the life and works of theodor lessing, a jewish philosopher and writer, killed by nazi thugs on the 30th august 1933, is of interest for a better understanding of german culture and of jewish presence in germany. Being a man in every sense of his time, he appears as a severe judge of his times, and gives us an insight into a fin de siecle germany which, slowly and with difficult, emerges emerges out of feudalism and semi-absolutism. Moreover, this versatile writer illustrates in examplary fashion the tragic fate of the german-jewish interrelationship. When we analyze in theodor lessing's writings a search for identity and the contrary forces of jewishness and germanness ( which might fall under three headings : jewishness - antisemitism and ethnopsychological arguments - sionism and cosmopolitism ) and when we compare his itinerary with that of other assimilated jews, we replace the author in a wider context, and throw into relief his originality - or on the contrary, that which makes him a typical example of the ill-fated german-jewish symbiosis

Abstract:

This study explores the different definitions of source criticism and credibility presented by different swedish university libraries in their web-based user education programmes. The purpose of the study is to explore what themes and definitions are linked to source criticism and credibility as defined by the university library. The two research questions that this study explores is: Firstly, What source criticism themes does the university library identify as important in the web-based user education programme? Secondly, What are the differences in the university libraries identified source criticism themes? The theory is based on a framework for credibility and this theory is used as a tool to develop an analytic tool to use with the research data. The method of analysis was a content analysis with the added analytic tool. The collection of data was done by visiting different university librararies webpages and navigating to the user education programme in source criticism. After the collection of the texts, the themes and describing terminology was counted within the text. The data was then compiled into the analytic tool. This study firstly identifies six themes as reoccuring between the analyzed university libraries, these themes are source reputation, information security or quality, maintenance of information and metadata, objectivity, the presentation of information and webpages reputation. Secondly this study identifies that there are differences in how themes are presented through the university library websites.

Det övergripande syftet med uppsatsens är att belysa Akira Kurosawas unika färdigheter och utmärkande drag som filmskapare, vilket adresseras i tre frågeställningar: Vilka återkommande narrativa teman finns representerade i Kurosawas filmproduktion, och hur presenteras dessa i tre utvalda filmer? Hur använder sig regissören stilistiskt och filmtekniskt av rörelse i de tre filmerna? Hur tar sig väder och andra naturfenomen uttryck i de tre filmerna och vilken funktion har de där? Filmerna som analyseras är Drunken Angel (Yoidore tenshi/Den berusade ängeln, 1948), Stray Dog (Nora inu/ Revolvern, 1949) och The Hidden Fortress (Kakushi toride no san akunin/ Den vilda flykten, 1958). Analysen utgår från det neoformalistiska tillvägagångsätt som David Bordwell och Kristin Thompson beskriver. Genom främmandegörning identifieras och granskas återkommande teman, rörelse och väder och andra naturfenomen i filmerna, studerade i sina socio-historiska sammanhang. Rättfärdigandet av inslagen, dvs deras motivering, adresseras tillsammans med den funktion de intar i scenerna. I Kurosawas filmproduktion identifieras 17 återkommande teman, där två kluster av teman, regissörens förhållande till japansk tradition och hans humanistiska livssyn, är särskilt framträdande. Väder- och naturfenomen som regn, vind, hetta, eld och dimma förekommer ofta och intar speciella funktioner i filmerna, både estetiskt och narrativt. De interagerar även med karaktärerna. Rörelser i bildrutan åstadkoms filmtekniskt på olika sätt. De är viktiga visuella komponenter som skapar spänning och kontinuitet, men har även ett rent artistiskt värde. Genom variationer och kombinationer av återkommande teman, väderinslag och rörelse visar Kurosawas på en stilistisk särart som karakteriserar hans filmskapande.

Bakgrund: Populationen av äldre kommer att öka kraftigt i Sverige. Samtidigt indikerar populationsökningen att antalet sjuka äldre och behovet av vård och behandling kommer öka. Det är därför av vikt att utöka den geriatriska kompetensen i Sverige. Studier avseende sjuksköterskestudenters attityd gentemot geriatrik och äldre har utförts i Sverige men studier som studerat sjuksköterskestudenters uppfattning av geriatrisk omvårdnad är få.Syfte: Syftet var att undersöka uppfattningen av geriatrisk omvårdnad hos sjuksköterskestudenter i termin 6. Metod: Webbaserad enkätstudie med sjuksköterskestudenter i termin 6 vid Blekinge tekniska högskola våren 2015. Totalt distribuerades 64 enkäter ut vilket resulterade i en svarsfrekvens á 59 % (n =38). Resultat: En majoritet 81,6 % (n = 31) av studenterna ansåg att de erhållit god baskunskap i geriatrisk omvårdnad under grundutbildningen till sjuksköterska. Endast 15,8 % (n = 6) av deltagarna kunde tänka sig att arbeta inom geriatrik som första jobb efter erhållande av examen. Endast 26,3 % (n = 10) av deltagarna ansåg att geriatrisk omvårdnad var lika intressant som annan klinisk verksamhet. Flera av studenterna ansåg att arbetet med äldre var monotont, långsamt och fysiskt krävande. Tidigare erfarenhet av arbete med äldre kunde associeras med ett intresse för geriatrisk omvårdnad (Fisher’s test p = 0,021). Kön och ålder kunde inte associeras med ett intresse för geriatrisk omvårdnad. Slutsats: Endast tidigare erfarenhet av arbete med äldre kunde associeras med ett intresse för geriatrisk omvårdnad. Anledningarna till varför sjuksköterskestudenterna inte ville arbeta inom geriatrik samstämmer med tidigare svenska resultat. Vidare studier avseende vad det är för faktorer som gör annan klinisk omvårdnad mer tilltalande för sjuksköterskestudenter erfordras. Dessa bör identifieras och integreras i geriatriken i syfte att göra geriatrisk omvårdnad mer attraktivt för sjuksköterskestudenter.

Tutkielmassa selvitetään sitä, miten skottilainen filosofi ja poliitikko James Mackintosh (1765–1832) käytti kirjallisessa tuotannossaan ”revolution”-termiä. Tutkimuskohteena on erityisesti ”revolution”-termin käyttö poliittisissa yhteyksissä, mutta myös termin käytöt muissa yhteyksissä on tutkielmassa huomioitu. Lisäksi tutkielmassa kiinnitetään huomiota ”revolution”-termin kanssa samassa semanttisessa kentässä esiintyneisiin termeihin. Tutkielma on semasiologista tutkimusta, jossa pyritään selvittämään yhden termin mahdollisia merkityksiä. Metodeiltaan tutkielma on lähellä käsitehistoriallista tutkimusta. Tutkielman lähdeaineiston muodostaa koko Mackintoshin julkaistu tuotanto, jota on täydennetty Mackintoshin elämänkertaan liitetyillä katkelmilla hänen kirjeistään ja päiväkirjastaan. ”Revolution”-termin käyttöön liittyvästä tutkimuksesta on erotettavissa kaksi keskeistä tulkintaa. Varhaisemman tulkinnan mukaan ”revolution” tarkoitti aina Ranskan suuren vallankumoukseen asti poliittisissa yhteyksissä ennen kaikkea paluuta takaisin johonkin aiemmin vallinneeseen tilanteeseen. Tämä tulkinta, jota muun muassa Hannah Arendtin tuki, on ollut vallitseva 1990-luvulle asti. Myöhäisempi tulkinta puolestaan korostaa sitä, että ”revolution”-termin merkityksessä olennaisempaa oli jo 1600-luvun lopulta lähtien sen merkitys suurena muutoksena, eikä niinkään ensisijaisesti paluuna minnekään. Tätä tulkintaa puolestaan ovat tukeneet muun muassa historioitsijat Ilan Rachum ja Keith Michael Baker. ”Revolution”-termin kuvaaman muutoksen laadun lisäksi tutkielmassa selvitetään sitä, minkälaisen moraalisen arvottamisen tuo termi sai Mackintoshin teoksissa. Huomiota kiinnitetään myös siihen, näkyykö Mackintoshin teoksissa Bakerin esittämä väite siitä, että ”revolution”-termi muuttui Ranskan vallankumouksen yhteydessä tarkoittamaan itse poliittisen muutoksen lisäksi myös poliittista prosessia, jossa muutos tapahtui. Tutkielmassa seurataan Mackintoshin ajattelun muutosta skottilaisen filosofian ja commonwealth-miesten aatteiden kyllästämästä ajattelusta kohti englantilaista whigismiä. Tähän ajattelun muutokseen vaikutti suuresti varsinkin Edmund Burken (1729–1797) teokset ja Ranskan suuren vallankumouksen väkivaltaistuminen vuodesta 1792 eteenpäin. Tutkielmassa peilataan tätä aatteellista, poliittista ja historiakäsitykseen liittyvää kontekstia Mackintoshin ”revolution”-termin käyttöön. Tutkielmassa esitetään, että Mackintoshin ”revolution”-termin käytössä ei tapahtunut suurta muutosta aikavälillä 1788–1832. Mackintosh käytti läpi tuotantonsa ”revolution”-termiä sekä takaisinpäin menevästä muutoksesta, että edistykseen liittyneestä muutoksesta. Suurin poikkeus oli hänen tunnetuin teoksensa Vindiciæ Gallicæ, jossa termin merkitys oli erityisen läheisessä yhteydessä edistykseen. Vuosien 1792–1811 välillä, jolloin hänen ajattelunsa läheni Burken ajattelua, ”revolution” -termin negatiiviset ja taaksepäin menemiseen liittyvät konnotaatiot lisääntyivät. Tämä muutos oli olennaisesti liitoksissa siihen, että Mackintosh menetti tuolloin uskonsa ihmiskunnan mahdollisuuksiin luoda toimiva poliittinen järjestelmä pelkän järjen avulla. Varsinkin hänen toimiessaan Intiassa tuomarina vuosien 1804–1811 välillä, olivat ”revolutionin” sykliset implikaatiot erityisen korostuneita. The purpose of this essay is to examine religious themes in the novel The Well of Loneliness by author Radclyffe Hall. The novel has been analysed using a hermeneutic method, with focus on the religious world picture of the novel and the faith of the lgbt characters. Conclusions regarding the religious world picture is a world where God is closely linked to nature. All humans, including lgbt people, are a natural part of his creation. The hatred towards lgbt people can be traced to humans, not God. The novel centers around the religious beliefs of lgbt people outside the realm of institutional religion. Their religious beliefs are often closely linked to their lgbt experiences, and characterized by belief in a god who does not condemn them. Their close relationship to nature can be interpreted as a part of their relationship to God.

Abstract:

This thesis is concerned with the Batemi of northern Tanzania and the symbols through which they assign meaning in their world. At the centre of the research lies the inquiry of how the Batemi reproduce their individual and communal identity through practices and beliefs in the context of a modernizing post-colonial nation-state. Interacting amongst themselves and with their immediate neighbours – primarily the Maasai – the Batemi show a remarkable resilience in promoting their own choices which are based on their customs, called gitɛmi. The research is based on a long-term involvement with the Batemi and draws from a multitude of collected empirical material, interviews, participant observation, historical materials, and on the insights gained from discussions with Temi contributors. The investigation combines primary data revealing the Batemi’s insights and interpretations of their culture along with my own reflections and understanding of the significance of core processes that shape Temi self-understanding. The Batemi are often portrayed as an unusually hard case of successful resistance against Christianity and Westernization at a time when the majority of other Tanzanian people groups have undergone significant change after having been affected by Christianity. In the encounter between the Batemi and outside observers (colonial personnel, anthropologists and missionaries), the latter portrayed Temi religion almost exclusively as a set of beliefs in a divine being called Ghambageu. Convinced that Ghambageu provided an opportune analogy to communicate a Christian gospel, the missionaries focused on a comparison between Jesus and Ghambageu in their attempt to evangelize the Batemi. However, this study concludes that the core of Temi religion, and indeed of their culture, is tied up with activities and beliefs surrounding the Kirimo rituals, rather than with the myths of Ghambageu. Furthermore, I suggest that it is this misguided notion of Temi religion which ultimately led to a failure to establish a viable church among the Batemi. The study calls for a reappraisal of the Christian mission approach to traditional African communities like the Batemi, and an invitation to re-evaluate a dogmatic concept of religion in the light of the presented Temi religious phenomenon.

Denna uppsats är en narrativ studie om hiphopkulturen som ungdomskultur. Målet med undersökningen har varit att förstå hur hiphoparna blir en del av den egna kulturen och hur de ser sig själva som medlemmar av hiphopkulturen. Som insamlingsmetod har jag använt mig av tre fokusgrupper samt en enskild intervju. Informanterna har varit 20-26 år och kommer från två mellanstora städer i Sverige.

Det resultat som framkommit är att hiphoparen gör en slags karriär inom kulturen. För att kunna göra denna karriär är hiphoparen beroende av mer erfarna personer. Det finns även ett beroende av det övriga samhället för att kunna lyckas. Tankarna kring den egna kulturen kan sammanfattas i fyra olika huvudteman: Genus, Attribut, Äkthet och Battle.

This is a narrative study of the hiphop culture as a youth culture. The aim has been to understand how and why young people in middle-sized Swedish towns become hiphopers and also how they look at themselves as members of the hiphop culture.

The research methods applied are three focus group interviews and one single person interview. The participants are between 20 and 26 years. The hiphoper makes a kind of a career in the culture. To be able to make the career, the hiphoper is dependent of other people with better skills as well as of the society. The thoughts of the hiphopers in question can be summarized in four main themes: gender, attribute, genuine and battle.

Denna studie specificerar sig på aktiviteten styrketräning. Syftet med denna studie var att undersöka individers olika motiv till att utföra styrketräning på fritiden samt undersöka dess upplevda påverkan på välmående, med teorigrund i motivationsteorin Self-determination Theory och ur hälsosynpunkt subjektivt upplevt välmående. Insamlingsmetoden bestod av kvalitativa intervjuer där deltagarnas egna upplevelser var i fokus. Kriteriet för att delta i studien var att utföra styrketräning på fritiden. Deltagarna var åtta män som styrketränade i olika omfattning. Bearbetningen av insamlad data utgick från en hermeneutisk ansats. Resultaten som påminde om föregående studier visade ändå på ny kunskap i form av bland annat att vikten av andra personers uppskattning och påverkan på den egna motivationen. Vidare har denna studie bidragit till ökad förståelse vad gäller motiv till styrketräning och upplevd hälsoeffekt.

Följande studie hade som syfte att undersöka studentterapeuters känsloupplevelser i samtal med utbildningsklienter om existentiella teman. Studien grundade sig i semistrukturerade intervjuer med sex studentterapeuter på ett psykologprogram i Sverige. Intervjuerna analyserades med hjälp av abduktiv tematisk analys. Analysen grundade sig i huvudteman upplevda affekter, terapeutens affektmedvetenhet, härbärgering av affekter, terapeutens arbete med affekter och det existentiella samtalets påverkan. Resultaten visade på att en lägre medvetenhet om affekter och existentiella funderingar försvårade härbärgeringen av och det terapeutiska arbetet med affekterna, vilket ledde till missade möjligheter i terapin. Studentterapeuternas affektmedvetenhet kunde ökas genom självreflektion och erfarenhet. Resultatet stämmer överens med tidigare forskning som säger att noviser på området har stort fokus på sin prestation och uppmärksammar därför i lägre utsträckning affekterna i rummet.
The following study aims to examine the emotional experiences of trainee therapists when talking about existential issues with their clients. The study was based on semi-structured interviews with six trainee therapists all of whom were doing a major in psychology at a Swedish university. The interviews were analysed by abductive thematic analysis. The analysis was based on the themes experienced affects, therapists’ affect consciousness, containing of the affects, the therapist’s work with the affects and the influence of conversation about existential issues. The results showed that a lower affect consciousness and a lower consciousness about one’s existential standings made it more difficult for the trainees to contain the affects and to work with them, which lead to missed opportunities in therapy. The trainees’ affect consciousness increased with self-reflection and experiences. The results are in line with earlier research which shows that inexperienced therapists are focusing too much on their performance and pay therefore less attention to the affects in the room.

Abstract:

Field studies were conducted at four western Maricopa County commercial sites in 1994 to determine whether Temik 15G® would suppress rootknot nematode at low to moderate populations. Three of the experiments were on Upland D +PL 5415 with the fourth on Pima S-6. Sites were chosen based on pre- season sampling with individual field populations ranging from 0.005 (low) - 3.6 (high) rootknot nematode juveniles per cubic centimeter (cc) of soil volume. Each study consisted of four treatments with six replications. The following treatments were used at all test sites: (1) Untreated check, (2) 5 lbs. Temik 15G at planting, (3) 5 lbs. Temik 15G at planting, 15 lbs. Temik 15G sidedressed at pinhead square, (4) 5 gal. Telone 11® pre-plant. Sampling for thrips and lygus was conducted at all test sites to provide insight regarding yield effects resulting from control of insect versus those due to suppression of nematode. There were no significant yield differences between the untreated check and either Temik treatment. However, significant yield increases were measured with Telone versus all treatments at all locations. Insect pressures were minimal in all cases. Temik 15G did not suppress nematode damage at any population level.

Abstract:

Många undersökningar visar att flickor läser bättre än pojkar och att den totala läsförståelsen försämras. Denna studie undersöker om det stämmer i en 7-9-skola hösten 2005. Boristester har använts för att vid två tillfällen mäta elevernas läsförståelse och läshastighet. Resultaten har omvandlats till Staninepoäng och är därför jämförbara. De redovisas i diagramform med förklarande analys. Resultaten visade att flickor läser bättre än pojkar och att många resultat sjönk från det ena testtillfället till det andra. Läshastigheten påverkade läsförståelsen. De elever som hade svag läsförståelse kunde fångas upp och erbjudas hjälp i sin läsutveckling.

Läsning består av många komponenter som är nödvändiga för läsförståelsen. I litteraturstudierna har jag fördjupat mig i vad tidigare forskare skrivit om detta. Vygotskij, Piaget och Goffman står för den teoretiska förankringen i denna studie som är kvantitativ och mäter resultaten objektivt.

Den här uppsatsen analyserar användandet av hybris som tema och motiv i tre olika skräckberättelser, Mary Shelleys Frankenstein (1818) och H.P. Lovecrafts två noveller ”The Other Gods” (1933) respektive ”From Beyond” (1934). De tre berättelserna använder alla hybris som tema och berättartekniskt verktyg för att på liknande vis gestalta karaktärer och skräck på ett sätt som blir mer specifikt för skräck som genre. Sett utifrån en klassisk syn på begreppet man kan finna i bland annat myten om Ikaros och Noël Carrolls mer moderna begrepp under namnet ”overreacher plot” som här kan länkas till hybris-begreppet, tillsammans med andra källor, lyfter uppsatsen exempel på hur hybris är en återkommande och viktig faktor för skräcken i berättelserna. Detta trots att ett sekel skiljer Shelleys och Lovecrafts verk åt.

A field plot in western Maricopa county was established in 1995 to determine the ability of Temik® brand aldicarb pesticide to suppress root-knot nematode when Temik 15G was applied as a seedling side-dress and moved into the root zone by irrigation. Telone II® was used for comparative purposes and Gaucho-treated seed, following a preplant application of Telone, was included to determine if additional benefits could be realized by systemic control of insects during early stages of plant growth. Plans to include foliar applications of Orthene® were abandon when early season thrips populations failed to develop. Temik 15G, applied as a side-dress at 10 lbs. did not suppress nematodes or increase lint yield Telone, alone and in combination with Gaucho -treated seed, reduced nematode populations and increased lint yield, but differences between the two Telone treatments were not significant. Insect pressure was not a contributing factor. Greenhouse studies showed that both timing of the application and its placement in the row will be of critical importance when Temik is applied for nematode control in furrow irrigated cotton.

Il giudizio di molti critici e biografi nei confronti di Elmore Leonard è stato tanto positivo quanto un po’ superficiale: è uno dei più validi scrittori di crime fiction americani grazie alla sua particolare ‘prosa cinematografica’ e al suo orecchio per i dialoghi dei personaggi. Credo che invece nelle narrazioni di Leonard ci siano molti altri aspetti degni d’interesse che il mio lavoro cercherà di indagare. Prima di scrivere ‘romanzi del crimine’ (dal 1969, con la pubblicazione di The Big Bounce) Leonard si era specializzato in racconti e romanzi western con cui sperimentò la sua distintiva tecnica narrativa basta sul discorso indiretto libero e altre innovazioni tematiche. Questa tesi esamina principalmente tre caratteristiche fondamentali dell’opera di Leonard. Anzitutto, nei suoi libri non c’è mai una vera e propria indagine. I lettori sanno già dalle prime pagine chi è il colpevole del crimine e il detective stesso lo scopre poco dopo. Tuttavia, l’eroe non riesce ad arrestare il responsabile a causa di continui impedimenti burocratici. La ricerca delle prove necessarie a incastrare il delinquente si trasforma quindi in una sfida personale che metterà a dura prova l’eroe e la sua coscienza. La seconda caratteristica riguarda le scelte narratologiche dello scrittore, che ha sviluppato un uso singolare del punto di vista. Leonard racconta le sue storie attraverso un narratore onnisciente in terza persona, solo apparentemente neutrale. In realtà, il punto di vista della narrazione continua spostarsi durante la storia, per cui ogni capitolo può essere narrato dal punto di vista di ogni personaggio (anche di un morto, come avviene in Glitz). La scelta di usare un particolare punto di vista non è solo una mera faccenda tecnica ma è anche e soprattutto una questione morale, che rende i libri di Leonard piuttosto disturbanti per il lettore attento. Infine, Leonard, che ha avuto un’educazione cattolica, tende a nascondere dilemmi teologici nelle intercapedini delle sue storie grottesche. Ad esempio, nei suoi romanzi la violenza non è mai la soluzione più giusta – non si configura una violenza necessaria – per cui i suoi eroi preferiscono dialogare con i criminali, o abbandonare la scena, piuttosto che sparare.
Critics and biographers have summarized Elmore Leonard’s work too easily: he was one of the best crime novels writers in America because of his “cinematic” prose and his unerring ear for the voices of the characters. I think there are much more issues in Leonard’s narratives, so my thesis is focused on investigating other distinctive traits of his novels. Leonard actually wrote westerns for many years before first trying his hand at crime fiction (in The Big Bounce 1969), the genre that gave him great fame. My thesis basically examines three distinguishing features. First, in Leonard’s books there is almost never any process of detection. Readers generally know from the very beginning who the murderer is, and in many cases the detective finds out soon after, but he is always prevented from arresting or killing him at once. What prolongs his pursuit is generally not a process of investigation but rather a frustrating combination of legal procedural constraints that are often portrayed as arbitrary, and the killer’s own animal willingness and absurd good luck. Secondly, Leonard, in his narrative, develops a very distinctive point of view. The writer always tells his stories from the omniscient point of view in the third person, only apparently neutral. In Leonard’s novels any chapter can be narrated from the perspective of any character (even a murder victim as in Glitz). This issue is not only a technical problem, it is a moral one, who makes Leonard’s novels disturbing to the reader. Finally Leonard, who had a catholic education and a deep knowledge of the Bible, hides theological issues in his grotesque crime stories. For example, in his novels violence is never the right solution, never necessary, as his heroes prefer talking with the villain or leaving, instead of shooting him.

Abstract:

The purpose of this study was to describe the level of knowledge that nurse students in term 6 have about Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and basic hygiene routines. The data collection was carried out by questionnaires. The questionnaire contained questions about knowledge regarding MRSA and basic hygiene routines. The questionnaires were handed out at an obligatory tuition occasion and all of the nurse students who were present (n=57) were asked to take part. The sample consisted of 45 women and 12 men. The youngest participant was 22 years old and the oldest participant was 52 years old. The main results showed a large variation regarding the participants knowledge on the subjects. Regarding questions about basic hygiene routines the majority had given the right answers. The number of right answers in the survey on questions about the participants knowledge of MRSA was lower. Only 12 % had given the right answer to the question about common symptoms of MRSA infection. Regarding the question about whether the nurse students considered themselves knowledgeable enough about MRSA for their future occupation, 32% had answered "to a high degree".

Syftet med studien var att beskriva vilka kunskaper sjuksköterskestuderande i termin 6 har om Methicillinresistenta Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) och basala hygienrutiner. Datainsamlingen genomfördes med enkäter. Enkäten innehöll frågor om kunskaper gällande MRSA samt basala hygienrutiner. Enkäterna delades ut vid ett obligatoriskt undervisningstillfälle och samtliga, vid undervisningstillfället närvarade sjuksköterskestudenter (n =57) tillfrågades om deltagande. Undersökningsgruppen bestod av 45 kvinnor och 12 män. Yngsta deltagaren var 22 år och den äldsta deltagaren var 52 år. Huvudresultatet visade en stor variation gällande deltagarnas kunskaper i ämnena. På frågor angående basala hygienrutiner hade majoriteten svarat rätt. På de frågor som berörde deltagarnas kunskaper om MRSA var antalet rätta svar i undersökningen lägre. Endast 12 % hade svarat rätt på frågan om symtom som är vanliga vid MRSA infektion. På frågan om sjuksköterskestudenterna ansåg att de hade tillräckliga kunskaper om MRSA för sitt kommande yrke som sjuksköterskor svarade 32 % ”i hög grad”.
