Abstract:
Abstract Traditional air conditioners consume a significant portion of energy and negatively affect households’ budgets. In addition, the compressor is noisy, and the leaked refrigerant may harm the environment. On the other hand, thermoelectric materials (TEM) are materials that can transform heat into electricity and vice versa. Therefore, TEM can be used as a thermoelectric cooler (TEC), so they will be an excellent alternative to traditional air conditioners because they are static and do not contain refrigerant. In addition, TEM can be used as a thermoelectric generator (TEG), thermoelectric heater (TEH), and thermoelectric dehumidifier (TED). PCM can work as a thermal reservoir so that absorbed or released energy occurs almost at a constant temperature. Therefore, PCM can act as a heat sink for TEG because PCM’s temperature depends on the type of PCM. During the day, the TEG-PCM unit as a wall panel generates electricity because heat transfers from the exterior to PCM. During the night, PCM’s latent heat transfers from PCM to the exterior, where the exterior temperature is cooler than the temperature of PCM. Therefore, TEG generates electricity. Also, TEC can cool PCM for cooling purposes. The thickness and kind of PCM significantly influence the system’s and PCM’s performance. Photovoltaic panels (PV) generate electricity from light. Therefore, PV can be integrated with TEG and PCM to increase the system’s total efficiency and augment the benefit. The present paper reviews the recent studies that adopt TEM for wall panels.

Abstract:
The use of ecological principles to manage plant pests has attracted renewed attention, but our knowledge related to the contributions of ecological pest management to social and natural sustainability is fragmented. In this study, we compared the performance and resilience of tea production and the economic benefits of tea ecological management (TEM) and tea conventional management (TCM). We show that TEM significantly improved tea biomass and quality, nutritional efficiency, and beneficial insects, but reduced seasonal variation. As a result, economic return increased by $8045/ha in the TEM mode compared to $6064/ha in the TCM mode. These results confirm that TEM is a promising production mode that can reconcile the conflict between the immediate and long-term service of agriculture. However, environmental improvements associated with organic pest control benefit society, and the government should provide adequate financial support to promote the production system.

ABSTRACT The sequences of the bla TEM genes encoding TEM-20, TEM-21, TEM-22, and TEM-29 extended-spectrum β-lactamases were determined. Analysis of the deduced amino acid sequences indicated that TEM-20 and TEM-29 were derived from TEM-1 and that TEM-21 and TEM-22 were derived from TEM-2. The substitutions involved were Ser-238 and Thr-182 for TEM-20; His-164 for TEM-29; Lys-104, Arg-153, and Ser-238 for TEM-21; and Lys-104, Gly-237, and Ser-238 for TEM-22. The promoter region of the bla TEM-22 gene was identical to that of bla TEM-3. High-level production of TEM-20 could result from a 135-bp deletion which combined the −35 region of the Pa promoter with the −10 region of the P3 promoter and a G→T transition in the latter motif.

Abstract:
Tal questão me fez pensar em estender a pesquisa a novas espacialidades.
This study aimed to investigate the main teaching and learning of football practices for children and young people in some districts of the East Zone of São Paulo. I followed the instruction, drills and games related to the CDM Cidade Líder football school, as well as other activities conducted in that area, especially the amateur football games in the weekends. From the observation of the relationships built between the various actors (children, young people, amateur players, parents and mothers, scouts, agents and others), I could identify different aspects of teaching and learning of football, which appear in the pleadings ethnography: working, body, Dom, screens, masculinity, pedagogical models, professionalism etc. If, on the one hand, I watched the process of teaching and learning football between students, parents and teachers, on the other hand, I understood that, concurrent to education, the idea of training young players was also developed. This question made me think of extending the search to a new space. Marked, initially, for observation in the Cidade Líder district in East Sao Paulo, the search later won a range of actors, experiences, histories and situations, which made me look at the networks of relationships between different actors. To this end, a specific football network was plotted, among many others that are possible, which begins in the neighborhood of Guaianases, also in the East, aiming to investigate the diversity of situations, actors and issues connected to the process of training young football players. Thus, issues such as sieves, business, patronage, local politics and amateur football appear interwoven and are crucial in the training of players. Through this network, I researched actors and practices that are in a position of invisibility when seen only by means of dichotomous classifications: game/sport, amateurism/professionalism and everyday/ritual. It is therefore an effort to research some of the many structural changes in world of football, in the professional and in the everyday forms that turn up in urban spaces.

Abstract:

The area of research of this dissertation is the semantic of natural languages, on a formalist approach of truth conditions, and it aims a semantic aspect to lexical item ainda. At first, the hypothesis, based on Ilari (1987) and Mendes de Souza et al (2007) was that the temporal ainda would be a negative polarity item; idea which corroborates to the English language's studies of Israel (1996) and Ladusaw (2002, [1980]), whom have considered the yet a negative polarity item. At first, however, we distinguished and classified the uses ainda, in temporal, discursive and conjunctive, focusing on the temporal one. Then, we have concluded that the contra-expectation appears in all of them. Tests with varied aktionsart, in different verbal tenses, showed that 'ainda' does not occur only through temporal interpretation in perfective contexts; because of this, the initial hypotheses was dismissed, and the restriction would seem to be the imperfective contexts. But, we perceive that the temporal reading in perfective contexts reappears with the addition of time adjuncts, following the theoretical discussion based on the moment of event, moment of reference and moment of speech from Reichenbach (1947 apud Ilari, 1997). For the semantic analysis we use the texts of Löbner (1989; 1999) and Auwera (1993) which investigate the Germanic terms 'noch' (still) e 'schon' (already); both authors discuss the hypothesis of duality. When we moved the data to the PB, we assumed the Löbner's idea, which says that ainda triggers a presupposition of a positive previous state to te (moment of event), and contributes for the truth conditions, because it adds the necessity of change. Finally, we showed that the different expectations, which we named contra-expectations, are implication.

Abstract:
The time-domain electromagnetics (TDEM) geophysical survey method is frequently used in order to characterize the resistivity of the layers of the ground as a function of depth. In the case of mineral exploration and prospection, TDEM systems are most often operated either on the surface or airborne. Both methods have different characteristics and objectives. In order to characterize the subsurface layers and to have a high spatial resolution, it is better to use systems operated on the surface. In this thesis, a fixed geometry emitter – receiver system carried by two operators is developed and used in order to determine the electrical characteristics of natural targets and cultural targets (caused by human activity). This system has a very high spatial resolution since it is operated close to the ground, however, vibrations and changes in its orientation that are due to its operation create subtle deformations in the emitter – receiver geometry, which in turn influence the quality of the data acquired during the survey. It is possible to address this problem by modifying the structure of the supporting platform, or by characterizing the vibrations using different measuring instruments installed on the platform. A digital signal processing method using an adaptive filter is described in this thesis and is used in order to correct the signal acquired on a survey. The research has showed that it is possible to improve the survey data quality using the digital signal processing method presented.

This work presents numerical simulations of an open asymmetric TEM cell in order to optimize its performance. Among the optimizations, the use of resistive slots to increase the bandwidth of the TEM cell is investigated. Furthermore, the transition between the coaxial connector and the TEM cell is also optimized. Measurements of this optimized transition were performed in laboratory validating the simulations. A prototype TEM cell was built and its return loss was verified to be above 10 dB over its entire band of operation (30 MHz 3 GHz).

The topic of this master’s thesis is the design of a sample manipulator for TEM. Regarding which the segment of the sample manipulator used to move the sample in the direction of the x-axis (so-called x-stage) was designed. The introductory theoretical part is concerned with a brief description of transmission electron microscopy focused on the imaging methods used in TEM and the procedures of preparing and loading TEM samples. The theoretical part follows with the design of precise mechanisms, especially with respect to the inaccuracies of their operation and the technological aspect of the design. In the practical part, a detailed analysis of the design of the x-stage is presented. Kinematics and dynamics of the mechanism is analyzed in depth, following with the description of the overall design of the mechanism and some of its parts in detail.

Abstract:
Abstract Photoresist (PR) profiles tend to have deformation and shrinkage with typical transmission electron microscopy (TEM) analysis method using a focused ion beam scanning electron microscope (FIB-SEM) and TEM. The elevated temperatures during sample preparation and TEM analysis are believed to contribute to these issues. This study evaluates the effectiveness of cryogenic workflow in mitigating PR profile shrinkage by employing cryo-focused ion beam (Cryo-FIB) and cryo-transmission electron microscopy (Cryo-TEM). Comparative experiments were conducted at room temperature and cryogenic conditions, demonstrating that full cryogenic workflow reduces the shrinkage of PR, bottom anti-reflective coating (BARC), and line critical dimension (CD). Our findings indicate that both the sample preparation and analysis temperatures influence PR profiles. This study highlights how the full cryogenic workflow significantly minimizes shrinkage, providing more accurate PR profile measurements.

Abstract:
Abstract Multipurpose sample holder for advanced Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) sample preparation which reduces cost of the tool and most importantly simplifies the workflow is introduced. Following the current demand for user-friendly interface, semi-automated approach is aimed to be build up. Abilities to prepare advanced TEM lamellae in various geometries without rotary nanomanipulator and using various end-point detection signals are perceived as biggest advantages of this design.
