Abstract:
With the entry of 3G and WiMAX players, the Indian mobile subscriber base is expected to reach 1110 million by the end of 2015. To meet mobile infrastructure demand, India will require approximately 350,000 to 400,000 mobile telecommunications towers in the next 7 to 8 years. Presently only 40% of mobile telecommunications towers are shared in India. The high growth of subscribers and initial cost of mobile telecommunications towers and license conditions will force mobile network operators to share infrastructure with other mobile network operators, specifically with new operators. The Indian government has allowed sharing of passive and active components of mobile telecommunication infrastructure. With the changing demand of the telecommunications infrastructure, many new telecommunications tower business entities and companies and mobile telecommunications tower business models are being explored. In this paper, the author presents the landscape of the mobile telecommunications tower industry in India, which consists of four types of companies and trends with respect to the strategies of telecommunication tower companies, especially tenancy ratio. Emerging features of the mobile telecommunication towers industry in India are also presented.

Abstract:
This paper empirically studies the impact of telecommunications infrastructure construction on economic and social innovative development using panel data from 31 provinces in China spanning from 2009 to 2022. The research findings indicate that telecommunication infrastructure significantly promotes innovation in terms of R&D investment, knowledge output, and application output. In addition, at various stages of telecommunication technology development, the impact on innovative development varies. Iterative updates in telecommunication technology drive higher R&D expenditures, facilitating better utilization of innovation outcomes in industries. Moreover, there are regional disparities in the influence of telecommunications infrastructure on economic and social innovative development. In the eastern regions, telecommunications infrastructure construction primarily promotes mobile communication, with clear spillover effects. In contrast, in western regions, it mainly facilitates fixed communication networks. Thus, further strengthening telecommunications infrastructure construction provides a new impetus for social innovative development and long-term sustainability. It is essential to persistently advance the coordinated construction of mobile and fixed communication infrastructure to achieve regional development coordination.

Abstract:
Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to investigate the long-run impact of telecommunications revenue and telecommunications investment on economic growth of Ghana for the time horizon 1976-2007. Design/methodology/approach – The paper uses the Augmented Dickey Fuller and Phillips Perron unit root test to explore the stationarity property of the variables and the Engle-Granger residual-based test of cointegration to model an appropriate restricted error correction model. Findings – The outcome of the analysis produced mixed results. Telecommunications revenue does not contribute significantly whilst telecommunications investment does. Practical implications – Policy makers will have to deal with a conundrum; while designing targeted policies that will attract more telecommunication investment in order to maximize the corresponding revenues and the economic growth it brings in its wake, they must at the same time find ways and resources to grow the economy to a point or threshold where revenue from telecommunications can have the much needed impact on their economies. Originality/value – The study is one of the first that has investigated the line of causality between telecommunication revenue and economic growth unlike previous research that mainly focused on the impact of telecommunication infrastructure on economic development.

Abstract:
The availability of energy and telecommunication facilities has been claimed as two strategic infrastructures supporting the West Java economy during and the post-pandemic. However, researchers found that the West Java electricity and telecommunication infrastructure is inter-regionally inequitable. This paper aims to identify the recent electrical energy access of households and the existing condition of telecommunication infrastructure; to configure the investment data in the last five years, and to analyze the opportunities and challenges of investment, and development of electricity and telecommunication network in the future. This research uses the Desk Study method by collecting primary data from bureaucrats and secondary data from relevant Government agencies. The results show that electricity and telecommunications infrastructure conditions in West Java are still unequal between the Northern and Southern regions, particularly in terms of electrification ratio, cellular phone signal strength, and internet signal quality. Furthermore, investment in West Java was very unequal, with about two-thirds of foreign and domestic investment in Bekasi and Karawang districts in the last-five-years. This study formulates recommendations for policy in the investment, electricity, and telecommunications sectors in dealing with interregional infrastructure development disparities as well as economic challenges during and after the pandemic.

Abstract:
With the evolution of the 5th generation mobile network (5G), the telecommunications industry has considerably affected livelihoods and resulted in the development of national economies worldwide. To increase revenue per customer and secure long-term contracts with users, telecommunications firms and enterprises have launched diverse types of telecommunication packages to satisfy varied user requirements. Several systems for recommending telecommunication packages have been recently proposed. However, extracting effective feature information from large and complex consumption data remains challenging. Conventional methods for the recommendation of telecommunications packages either rely on complex expert feature engineering or fail to perform end-to-end deep learning (DL) during training. In this study, we propose a recommender system based on the Deep and Cross Network (DCN), deep belief network (DBN), embedding, and Word2Vec using the learning abilities of DL-based approaches. The proposed system fits the recommender system for telecommunication packages in terms of click-through rate prediction to provide a potential solution to the recommendation challenges faced by telecommunication enterprises. The proposed model captures the finite order interactional and deep hidden features. Additionally, the text information in the data is used to improve the model’s recommendation capability. The proposed method also does not require feature engineering. We conducted comprehensive experiments using real-world datasets, the results of which demonstrated that our proposed method outperformed other methods based on DBNs, DCNs, deep factorization machines, and deep neural networks in terms of the area under the ROC curve, cross entropy (log loss), and recall metrics.

The presence of more electronics onboard vehicle systems transforms them from simple means of transportation to powerful telecommunication devices, capable of receiving and transmitting information in various ways, analyzing the obtained information and performing various actions on the basis of the received data, starting from managing the work of individual transport units up to self-driving motion. The available techniques of auto-technical expertise are not able to answer all the questions that may be raised in criminal and administrative cases, as well as in the consideration of civil claims for damages’ compensation and damages in road accidents involving modern vehicles. The analysis of forensic practice allows to specify directions of increasing the efficiency of research on establishing the circumstances of road accidents: improvement of the methods for carrying out forensic auto-technical expertise, improvement of qualification and professional skills of forensic motor technician’s experts, carrying out of complex telecommunication and auto-technical expertise. The main task of an expert in the field of telecommunications during the conduction of complex telecommunication and auto-technical expertise is to extract the necessary information from certain telecommunication devices installed in the vehicle, which is under study, to determine the methods for their installation and connection and communication channels. The introduction of modern technologies for diagnosing electronic systems of vehicles into modern practice is a prerequisite for improving the efficiency of forensic auto-technical expertise, and the most effective use of these technologies is achieved by engaging in research in the format of carrying out complex telecommunication and auto-technical expert examinations in the field of telecommunications.

The Australian telecommunications industry has been slow to call for or to adopt new practices and the National Broadband Network has exacerbated the problem of technology adoption lag. There are two key issues facing telecommunication consumers today. The cost of optical networking has significantly reduced over the past five years so there is no justification for the network congestion that occurs on Australian telecommunication networks. To remedy this situation the introduction of performance monitoring is fully supported. It is time for the telecommunications industry to adopt new broadband business models that are based on the provision of unlimited data and a maximum of 90 to 95 per cent utilisation on optical network links.

Abstract:
The rapid expansion of the global market in the telecommunications industry has created intense competition that necessitates active market innovations. To survive, organizations must have a competitive advantage to stay ahead of the competition. Product innovation encourages business effectiveness and organizations are increasingly being compelled to create new products, upgrade, or improve existing product features to fulfill their clients' needs and remain competitive. It is from this background that this study sought to establish the influence of market innovation on the competitive advantage of telecommunication companies in Kenya. Using a positivist philosophy, this study adopted an explanatory research design. The main data collection instrument was a structured questionnaire where 247 responses from mid and top level managers in a total of 26 active telecommunications companies in Kenya. The study used both descriptive and inferential statistics to interpret the data. From the study findings, it was established that new products, products upgrading, and improved product features have a significant influence on the competitive advantage of telecommunication companies in Kenya. This led to the conclusion that product innovation has a significant influence on the competitive advantage of telecommunication companies in Kenya. The study recommends a need to increase government funding and research missions from bodies like NACOSTI and other research firms, to support researchers involved in product innovation while at the same time tap into existing telecommunication companies for experimental purposes. The study faced limitations when visiting the field during the COVID-19 pandemic period encountering entry restrictions. All protocols were observed to overcome this obstacle. Some telecommunications companies were facing operational difficulties and could not particpate. Further studies for product innovation would perhaps suffice after the pandemic period.

Abstract:
Background. To collect monitoring data from the nodes of the wireless sensor network in the absence of public telecommunications infrastructure, it is proposed to use telecommunications aerial platforms (TA), built on the basis of UAVs. Each telecommunication aerial platform acts as a mobile gateway, dynamically creates virtual clusters in the network, determines the data collection points in the clusters and their flight paths, forms a schedule and exchanges data with cluster nodes depending on their location coordinates relative to the TA flight path, battery power level and volume of monitoring data. Objective. The aim of the paper is to improve the efficiency of data collection from wireless sensor network nodes by telecommunication aerial platforms. Methods. Unlike existing data collection methods, the proposed method: uses the FOREL (FORmal ELement) cluster analysis method for clustering the network, new rules for selecting data collection points and rules for data transmission between TA and cluster nodes to achieve the specified target control functions: minimization of TA data collection time, maximization of network operation time, minimization of used TA. Results. The proposed monitoring data collecting method by TA from the nodes of the wireless sensor network allows increasing the efficiency of achieving a given target control function (reduce the time of data collection, increase the time of network operation, reduce the number of telecommunication aerial platforms used). Conclusions. The implementation of the proposed method into the specialized software of the wireless sensor network control system will improve the efficiency of the sensor node data collection process by telecommunication aerial platforms. Keywords: wireless sensor network; data collection method; network clustering; telecommunication aerial platform.
