Abstract:
Abstract. The purpose. Modern challenges faced by hop growers in Russia and the Czech Republic are quite similar. Parallels in development are especially obvious with those subjects where the industry has been developing historically, for example, with the Chuvash Republic. Therefore, the purpose of the work was to study the organization of hop production in the Czech Republic, review and analyze the main challenges, as well as identify ways to solve them, implemented in the Czech Republic. Methods. The theoretical and methodological basis of the study was the works of Czech scientists, the country's legislation. The official Internet resources of state and public structures of the Czech Republic became the information base. Scientific novelty. The study of ways to organize production and solve modern problems of hop growing by scientists, social activists and producers of the Czech Republic will serve as a good information base for domestic representatives of the industry. Results. To solve the problems with the obsolescence of hopspalers in the Czech Republic, it is proposed to replace them with shorter ones, which will reduce the cost of their maintenance and simplify mechanical processes. So that these changes do not reduce the volume of harvesting in the country, new varieties of hops are being developed. There are 12 of them in total, but 11 new varieties are expected to be introduced into circulation. Now the most popular and world-famous Czech variety is Saaz, which accounts for about 88% of the total hop area in the country. The high capital intensity of the industry requires large expenditures for any innovation. According to the calculations of Czech scientists, the commissioning and maintenance of a 50-hectare hop-growing field will cost 3.7 million euros. Therefore, an important aspect of the development of the industry in the Czech Republic is the availability of investment support from the state. Another distinguishing feature of the Czech hop industry is the involvement of 113 farmers in a single cooperative “Hop Growing”, which accounts for 90 % of the market share. All industry innovations and innovative solutions in the country are introduced into production through the cooperative.

Abstract:
Abstract Health technology assessment (HTA) has become the systematic evaluation of health technology’s properties and effects that inform decision-makers. The implementation and expansion of HTA can contribute to slowing down burgeoning healthcare costs. In the Czech Republic, elements of HTA are quite standardly used in pharmacoeconomics, but questions arise on the use of HTA of medical devices. The theoretical framework developed is followed by a case study of the Czech Republic to assess whether the use of HTA of medical devices in the Czech Republic is implemented. This study uses publicly available resources, mainly public health acts and public notices related to HTA. We examined the institutionalisation of HTA for medical devices (HTA applied only at a selected area of medical devices) in the Czech Republic and compared Czech’s HTA principles of medical devices to the HTA Core Model. It was found that the HTA process used for medical devices is very limited in the Czech Republic. Our data show that HTA was officially established, but in reality, the medical devices have not been assessed following HTA principles.

Abstract:
The paper explains the need for proper wastewater treatment in the Czech Republic and the development of legislation for effluent standards. A step-wise development from environmental quality standards to emission effluent standards is described. The necessity of retaining the environmental quality standards in the new legislation under specific conditions of the Czech Republic is explained. The paper describes the proposal by the Czech Association of Wastewater Treatment Experts to change the absolute effluent standards to standards with a stochastic character. The numerical values of effluent standards in the Czech Republic depend on the wastewater treatment plant size. Thus the wastewater treatment processes characteristic of individual size categories are described.

Pargac, Petr. "What issues does the Czech Republic face concerning offsets in the context of military purchases." Thesis, Monterey, California. Naval Postgraduate School, 2006. http://hdl.handle.net/10945/2611.

Full text
Abstract:
The word "offset" in the broad sense represents reciprocal trade advantages that result from economic agreements. However, as a result of increasing competition among suppliers due to the reduced global defense market, declining military budgets, and other aspects, buyers are able to influence the conditions under which major defense programs are obtained. Not only unions, defense industries, trade associations, and public, but also EU is involved. The Czech Republic as a member of these organizations has to follow their rules as well, and their views and policies regarding offsets might be different. The objective of this project is to examine what issues, if any, the Czech Republic faces concerning offsets implementation in international trade. This study will discuss briefly the history of the Czech Republic's participation in offsets, and its current policy, if any, towards using offset practices. The Czech Republic's goals in offset practices, and government support for them, would be another area of research. The Czech Republic is an EU member and therefore is obliged to follow policies implemented by these institutions. Whether there is any connection between the Czech government policy and EU policies will also be examined. Specifically, the project will focus on what should be done in future offsets implementation, and what to be aware of.

Abstract:
Goal of this thesis is to analyse sequence of events that led to current situation on the solar market in Czech Republic. Based on this analysis, current situation and scenarios for the near future from the point of view of large power utility company are described. For this aim, analysis of macro-environment is employed and focuses in detail on legislative and technological factors. Definition of possible scenarios starts with the description of current situation of saturated market. Solar power plants are then presented as reasonable equity investment from the point of view of large power utility company. Assumptions and entry data are described and the investment is evaluated using the net present value evaluation tool. For chosen entry parameters, sensitivity analysis is performed. This thesis then defines the situation when electricity produced from solar irradiation becomes competitive with other conventional sources.

Abstract:
Western developed countries economies suffer for relocation of majority of production in developing countries. Technology transfer and R&D results commercialization at universities in western countries is highly important to keep and strengthen competitiveness in global environment. Technology transfer is incoming field in the Czech Republic. Though it has been rapidly developed in last several years, lot of things must be done to improve effectivity of the process. This work focuses on initial phase of technology transfer process, which is process of recognition and evaluation of technology commercial potential at Czech universities in the field of Life sciences. This work is divided in two parts. First sums international literature in the field, second contains data and results of survey made by interviews held with employees of the two Czech biggest universities and some other research institutions. Important finding were verified by other experts interviews. Czech universities pay little attention to the process of recognition and evaluation of technology commercial potential, although it is highly important to practice technology transfer effectively. Universities used to try to find an industry partner first and then they let the partner to recognize potential of the technology in the partner's point of view. Time and effort devoted by universities' technology-transfer offices (TTOs) to encouragement of technology transfer processes is affected by persistent instability of TTOs funding and pronounced intellectual property rights (IPR) education focus of TTOs. In this work we identified several challenges for future development of technology transfer in Czech universities. Among others, it is the introduction of effective recognition and evaluation system to validate the new technology commercial potential, build up a sufficient large formal and informal networking, gaining of experience in setting up spin-off companies, or shift to market orientation of TTOs.
