Abstract:
The purpose of this research study was to understand and identify the key factors that affect faculty's behavioral intention of using a learning management system. This research study adopted the Technology Acceptance Model 3 (TAM3) as the theoretical foundation and extended it by adding management support as an exogenous variable based on the recommendations from previous research studies. Technology Acceptance Model 3 is the latest iteration of Technology Acceptance Model – a widely adopted research framework for studying users' acceptance of technology. It provides a comprehensive network of determinants of technology adoption and use. A survey questionnaire with 54 measurement items was used to measure the 15 construct variables proposed in the research model. Path analysis was performed on the data collected from 105 faculty members, who were teaching at a metropolitan university located in Taipei City, Taiwan. The goodness of fit indices indicated that the initial research model did not fit the data, and adjustments were made based on the suggestions from the modification indices. The revised research model had a much improved and more acceptable model fit than the initial research model. The final results of this research study revealed a much more complex map of relationships among the construct variables than what was proposed in the initial research model. First, as evidenced by other researchers, perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness, subjective norm, and the interaction between subjective norm and voluntariness were significant determinants of behavioral intention. Second, subjective norm, image, job relevance, the interaction between job relevance and output quality, and computer playfulness were the significant determinants of perceived usefulness. Third, computer playfulness, perceived enjoyment, and image were the only three significant determinants of perceived ease of use. Lastly, management support along with a list of other variables jointly determined perceptions of external control, subjective norm, image, job relevance, result demonstrability, and the interaction between job relevance and output quality.

Abstract:
In January 2021, one of the first large-scale implementations of an artificial intelligent computer-aided detection system (AI CAD) for detecting breast cancer was implemented at Capio S:t Göran hospital in Stockholm. AI CAD for detecting breast cancer is promising, however, it can only be a successful implementation if it is accepted by the end-users. This study examines and evaluates factors critical to the acceptance of the AI CAD, prior to the radiology professionals using it by applying the third version of the Technology Acceptance Model, that is TAM3. A questionnaire was designed and distributed accordingly to 28 professionals at the hospital’s breast screening unit. The quantitative data collected were further analyzed using the statistical tool SPSS. The empirical findings concluded that the intention to use the AI CAD was influenced directly by the perceived usefulness and indirectly by image, job relevance, and perceived ease of use. In addition, the association between subjective norm and image was shown to be significant. This study further revealed two new associations, contrary to what TAM3 postulates, the first one being between image and behavioral intention and the second one being between job relevance and behavioral intention. Organizational support, system-related activities, and information and communication are interventions suggested based on the findings in this study, in which the breast screening unit at S:t Göran should tap into to enhance the acceptance of the AI CAD system.

Amazon launched the eBook reader - “Kindle” by the end of 2007, warmly welcomed by the market around the Europe and the United States. The eBook reader is an electronic device designed primarily for the purpose of reading digital books and periodicals and uses e-ink technology to display content to readers; the devices have a lot of advantages: portability, readability of their screens in bright sunlight, and long battery life. However, the eBook reader is adopted by Europe and the United States, that can it be accepted by the people in Taiwan needs to be further examined. This research framework is based on the research of Walczuch, Lemmink, and Streukens(2007), with the “technology acceptance model 3” proposed by Venkatesh and Bala(2008) and the four constructs of the “technology readiness index” proposed by Parasuraman(2000) - "optimism", "innovativeness", "discomfort", and "insecurity". Investigate the intermediary role of the “technology acceptance model 3” between the “technology readiness index” and individual’s “usage intention”. As the same time we put the "experience" into the research model and discuss its effects. The research was conducted through online questionnaires, receiving 763 valid samples. Structural equation modeling (SEM) was employed to test hypothesis presented by the research framework. The results show that the “subjective norm” has a positive effect on both “perceived usefulness” and “perceived ease of use”, and the “technology readiness” also has significant impact on both “perceived usefulness” and “perceived ease of use”. Three of the fifteen hypotheses were unsupported. The eBook product in Taiwan is at the embryonic stage currently, the research findings could provide some useful suggestions for the eBook product managers developing management strategies in the near future.
