Abstract:
Quality checks, assessments, and the assurance of food products, raw materials, and food ingredients is critically important to ensure the safeguard of foods of high quality for safety and public health. Nevertheless, quality checks, assessments, and the assurance of food products along distribution and supply chains is impacted by various challenges. For instance, the development of portable, sensitive, low-cost, and robust instrumentation that is capable of real-time, accurate, and sensitive analysis, quality checks, assessments, and the assurance of food products in the field and/or in the production line in a food manufacturing industry is a major technological and analytical challenge. Other significant challenges include analytical method development, method validation strategies, and the non-availability of reference materials and/or standards for emerging food contaminants. The simplicity, portability, non-invasive, non-destructive properties, and low-cost of NIR spectrometers, make them appealing and desirable instruments of choice for rapid quality checks, assessments and assurances of food products, raw materials, and ingredients. This review article surveys literature and examines current challenges and breakthroughs in quality checks and the assessment of a variety of food products, raw materials, and ingredients. Specifically, recent technological innovations and notable advances in quartz crystal microbalances (QCM), electroanalytical techniques, and near infrared (NIR) spectroscopic instrument development in the quality assessment of selected food products, and the analysis of food raw materials and ingredients for foodborne pathogen detection between January 2019 and July 2020 are highlighted. In addition, chemometric approaches and multivariate analyses of spectral data for NIR instrumental calibration and sample analyses for quality assessments and assurances of selected food products and electrochemical methods for foodborne pathogen detection are discussed. Moreover, this review provides insight into the future trajectory of innovative technological developments in QCM, electroanalytical techniques, NIR spectroscopy, and multivariate analyses relating to general applications for the quality assessment of food products.

Abstract:
Introduction. Today fiberglass is one of the most common composite materials. Therefore, its mechanical processing continues to be the subject of many studies. In many scientific publications, the influence of cutting modes and structural and geometric parameters of the tool on the roughness of the machined surface, cutting forces and wear of the cutting tool has been established. The purpose of this work is to study the effect of machining modes on delamination and roughness of fiberglass composites during end milling, as well as testing the hypothesis about the effect of torque on the delamination. The relevance of the study is due to the fact that delamination, along with roughness, has a significant impact on the quality of processing and subsequent assembly of the finished product. A criterion is proposed for assessing the magnitude of the delamination of composite materials during its machining. The results of experimental studies of the torque on the cutter, the relative coefficient of delamination and surface roughness from cutting conditions are presented. Methods: factorial experiment using an experimental assembly developed by the authors based on a piezoelectric torque sensor. The installation allows real-time recording of the change in torque during the milling process, depending on the modes of operation. Results and Discussion. A comparative analysis of the obtained dependences showed that the torque is directly related to delamination. To reduce the delamination, the depth of cut should be decreased, and in order to ensure the specified productivity, the feed and the rotational speed of the cutter should be increased. The presented results confirm the prospects of the developed approach aimed at machining new classes of composite materials.

Abstract:
AbstractThe first chapter highlights the relevance of both adhesive bonding technology and in-process quality assessment for mastering twenty-first-century challenges in joining functional and lightweight materials like carbon fibre reinforced polymers. The ongoing developments of the relevant technological and regulatory procedures and frameworks are hereby outlined, following trends for data-driven innovation and standardisation. Advances from monitoring process variables towards the in-depth and objective Extended Non-destructive Testing (ENDT) of material-related features are presented, based on methodological and technological innovation and insights from recent European joint research projects like Horizon 2020s ComBoNDT—“Quality assurance concepts for adhesive bonding of aircraft composite structures by advanced NDT”. Introducing ten heuristic principles for quality assessment in bonding processes, a concept is demonstrated for establishing empirically consolidated sets of quantitative material and process-specific correlations between design-relevant joint features and quality data measured during the manufacture or repair of adhesive joints using ENDT. Each correlation is obtained by systematically introducing disturbances of relevant process features identified by experts and is levelled once by linking findings from standardised mechanical tests with ENDT results obtained for joints that have intentionally been manufactured or repaired in an off-specification way. Subsequent chapters will demonstrate the suitability of the broadly applicable process.

Abstract:
In an age of public mistrust of the most basic institutions, businesses are not exempted. Essentially all e-tailers want to deliver personalized and real-time communications to customers that are tailored to their interests and preferences, and are based on big data mining that customers will value over privacy concerns. This is an era in which e-commerce retailers continue to dominate the marketplace and it is integral that consumers are able to trust the manufacturers, retailers, and the service/product reviews that they read online. Such trust is particularly important if their ultimate purchase decision is a successful one. A survey of middle-level managers was analyzed to identity the basic elements: e-personalization, namely online purchasing behaviors, personalized communications, information-retrieval services, degree of personal web presence, quality assurance of customer service, and the promotion of customization services. These elements were found to be conceptually and statistically related to retailer benefits of increased buying and customer loyalty.

Abstract:
This study aims to identify and analyse strategic service quality as perception-minus-expectation from patient perspective using SERVQUAL-based Handayani et al.'s framework. The result from 297 respondents shows that the criteria gaps are given as follows in descending order from the biggest gap: (1) responsiveness, (2) assurance, (3) professionalism, (4) reliability, (5) empathy and (6) tangible. Apparently, the gap for each criterion transpires to be significantly different which straightforwardly indicates the quality of the service delivered by hospitals for each criterion is still below respondents' expectations. Recommendation towards hospitals is proposed from technological point of view in forms of IT support in order to significantly improve the process as the dimension of the responsiveness criterion. Nonetheless, suggestion towards the Ministry of Health as the policy maker is also addressed that urges the establishment of policy and its implementation concerning IT support for accelerating hospitals automation.

A literature review of personalization strategies was used to generate a survey instrument to examine the important characteristics of such programs from business professionals. Through appropriate multivariate analyses and data-reduction techniques, the basic elements e-personalization, namely online purchasing behaviors, personalized communications, information retrieval services, degree of personal Web presence, quality assurance of customer service, and the promotion of customization services, were found to be conceptually and statistically related to retailer benefits of e-personalization (increased buying and creates customer loyalty) from the viewpoint of managers for a large goods and services chain store headquartered in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Abstract:
During the past several years, there has been a strong trend worldwide toward the extensive repair of used gas turbine blading components. The behavior of the marketplace, i.e., of customers, and that of insurance companies, presented manufacturers with two alternatives: 1. To allow the market to go its own way, thereby losing, in many cases, technological control over the blading components installed in their own turbines, or 2. To become active in the business of blade reconditioning. This paper deals with the second of these alternatives.

Abstract:
The Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) is a one of the largest and diverse science and technological institutions in the world. The size and sophistication of LANL’s facilities and workforce present a unique challenge to develop and implement a Quality Assurance (QA) program that meets LANL’s needs. LANL has updated its QA Program to a targeted, requirements-based approach, and broadened its Quality Assurance technical expertise into essential technical areas. The expanded areas of expertise include engineering, project management, nuclear facility operations, and weapons design and fabrication. This approach is achieving success as evidenced on an institutional level by LANL’s receipt of various national, international and local awards for its products and services. Success is also realized on the QA Program level with sufficient recognition of the importance of the QA Program by the LANL workforce. However, QA program challenges remain in areas of expanding the importance of QA; streamlining the grading process and ensuring the program is commensurate with risk and customer expectations; maintaining sufficient authority and freedom from line management for deployed QA personnel while continuing to increase the technical breadth of QA personnel. These are the focus areas to continuously improve the LANL QA Program.

Abstract:
The Teaching and Learning Group, in the Faculty of Arts, Deakin University, Australia, has successfully implemented Stage One of a Teaching and Learning Database. The database is unique in Deakin, and aims to integrate the core functions of curriculum, unit chair and assessment panel maintenance, academic workloads and quality assurance reporting for the Faculty of Arts. Stage One developments have already replaced many hard-copy forms. The following paper describes the database project, how it was initiated in the Faculty, the options considered, and an illustration of its progress to date. It will also describe the future developments planned for this project during the next six months, developments that will add capabilities to manage academic workloads.

Abstract:
A suite of surface measurement methods are described, assessed and compared for several types of materials of technological interest including silicon for solar cells, machined metal surfaces, and rapid prototyped (e.g., 3d-printed) plastic parts. We describe student laboratory projects for surface roughness characterization using different techniques including depth gauge, stylus profilometer, atomic force microscope (AFM), glossmeter, LED light scattering, laser light scattering, image processing, and wetting angle measurements. This provides instructive case studies for learning concepts of surface characterization and metrology, comparing information gained by different measurement techniques, gauge reproducibility and repeatability, optimizing post-processing in rapid prototyping, and issues for adapting measurements for automated and in-line quality assurance.

Abstract:
Public enterprises play an important role in the social and economic development of society, but their constructions are often characterized by inefficiency in the use of public resources, constant delays in delivery and poor quality. In this context, the construction supervision phase has a great responsibility, as it is one of the phases that contributes to the quality assurance of the public enterprise. The aim of this paper is to propose a maturity model based on the best practices of public entities' inspection teams in order to verify the degree of maturity in relation to the practices established by the TCU. For the exemplification, the proposed model was applied in a public institution, whose key stage analyzed referred to the concreting service and its respective key recommendations. In general, it proved to be effective and easy to apply for the evaluation of maturity in the sector of public works inspections. As a result of the application of the model, it was verified that the institution studied is at the transition level for the mature, with a maturity level of 87%, and the institution places more emphasis on services subject to requests for corrections and technological control.

Abstract:
There are basic technical (protection) objectives determined for assurance of nuclear power plant safety and the following generally belong among them: - Reactor pressure vessel shut down, - Long term maintenance of sub-critical state, - Long term cooling, - Prevention of radioactivity leakage. To ensure these objectives multi-step concept of deep protection is used for the design of a nuclear power plant and it includes: - Prevention of failures during normal and abnormal operation, - Control of failures and their consequences, - Minimizing of risks during accidents. Failure of operating systems is conservatively postulated for determination of systems requirements using for failure ensure as piping breaks. Ensure of these postulated failures come under multilevel safety approach. Failure consequences should be mainly ensured by design measures as separation of high energy piping, whip piping restrains etc. Efficiency of design measures have to be demonstrated. This passive safety procedure during design of new NPP can be applied. Application of this passive procedure for operating NPP can lead to technical and economical problems. It can be done by non precise and non sufficient requirements, current standards and documents. Leak before break concept (LBB) is very often out due to break operation conditions for successful concept usage. Beak preclusion concept was defined in Germany thirty years ago. The concept is developed from this time. Required quality of SSC is basic of this concept. The quality has to be received during manufacturing and assembly of new components to system or the quality passport has to be documented for SSC in operation before enlistment to the concept. During next operation they are sufficient and redundant measures necessary to control and to manage ageing phenomena (conceptual, technological, and physical) for exclusion of premature ageing. This proactive approach is also basic of documents from the last year’s required ageing and lifetime management. In Czech NPPs postulated failures and their consequences in accord with producer knowledge state at that time were insured. Postulated failures and their consequences were insured partly design measures and partly design supposed quality too. It is very difficult to realize new requirements on needed design provision on NPP in operation. It is impracticable in any cases. Needed national law for approach application exists in Czech from 1997. Regulation on lifetime management and national nuclear standards with specific requirements exist in Czech too. There are backgrounds for application proactive approach as it is used in Germany NPPs. New safety approach was provided in Czech NPPs. SSC are separated into three groups on the base safety approach: - SSC must not fail (guarantee of quality), - SSC may fail in rare case (preventative maintenance), - SSC may fail (failure orientated maintenance). The contribution deals about new Czech safety concept aspects, boundary conditions, needed document and proactive measures.
