Abstract:
Technical Mechanics being a complex of fundamental general technical disciplines is the theoretical and scientific basis for the study and development of modern engineering. Using its laws and principles buildings, constructions, machines and equipment can be developed and researched. However, Technical Mechanics is the most difficult discipline to learn. The main difficulties of this course are based not only on the application of the principles of theoretical mechanics to complex mechanisms of different types but also the course stands out with its specific and particular features and also based on previously unknown terminology for students as well as is an introduction to the Mechanics of Machines in general. Difficulties in the acquisition of learning content are also caused by time constraints devoted to the study of this subject in higher technical educational institutions. Consequently, teaching Mechanical Engineering in today's context requires a widespread involvement of computer technologies into educational processes that meets the requirements of intensification of students’ individual study and diversifies forms and means of learning, motivates students and optimizes their learning process. The problem of the research is to identify the possibilities of intensifying the process of teaching Technical Mechanics which is a fundamental discipline for other special courses in Technical Institutes using computer training software GIM. The article justifies the feasibility of using GIM software during Technical Mechanics course by students of engineering and technical higher education institutions. GIM software is used during practical classes to support and supplement theoretical lectures; GIM functions as an educational supplementary tool to enhance students' knowledge. Training of first and second year students of general engineering disciplines based on GIM computer training program enhances the professional culture of the future specialist, stimulating his need for continuous self-improvement. New educational technologies are an effective method of teaching students and help better understanding of the subject, promotion and spreading of scientific knowledge

AbstractIn the knowledge society, it is particularly important for professionals and managers to respond flexibly to changes and to be able to form cross-disciplinary networks. The European reference framework defined eight key competences for the purpose of lifelong learning. Special attention is given here to the multi- and interdisciplinary approach. The University of Wismar has, since 2009, developed and tested their model of an interdisciplinary Student research and development team. These teams consist of students from various disciplines who work together on an innovative product or service idea. The ideas always come from a regional company which also handles the technical support for the student team. In the triangle of research, teaching and innovation, cooperation with the local economy is of particular importance. The following paper is intended to highlight important aspects of the combination of innovative ideas from business and creative know-how from the university and to present the initial results.

Abstract:
The article is devoted to the peculiarities of teaching the discipline "Descriptive geometry" in the conditions of distance learning, it examines the application of information technologies in the educational process in geometric and graphic disciplines. Increasing the speed of information processes, reducing the number of hours for mastering the discipline. the conditions of distance learning set new tasks for teachers and dictate their requirements for teaching graphic disciplines and the use of teaching experience in a new reality; there is a need to introduce and develop new forms of education without losing the quality of education. Geometric-graphic disciplines occupy one of the important places in technical education, the complexity of the study of which lies in the development of a graphical representation of phenomena, objects and processes by methods of constructive geometric modeling. The knowledge and skills acquired by students contribute to the development of spatial, imaginative and rational thinking, which is necessary for future professional activities. Descriptive geometry is a discipline that is not easy to master on your own without a conscious understanding of the logic and sequence of geometric constructions, without deep knowledge of theoretical foundations and constant, repeated implementation of practical tasks. The acquisition of practical skills in mastering the methods of discipline has become more difficult in the current epidemiological situation. In modern conditions of distance learning, the use of the Simplex geometric modeling system made it possible to develop and propose a new concept of geometric-graphic interaction, which significantly reduced the time for completing and checking educational tasks in real time. The proposed technology reveals the deep informational essence of the studied discipline "Descriptive Geometry" and becomes a powerful research tool for students. The integration of traditional teaching methods in the graphic preparation of students with computer and communication facilities increases the possibilities of communication and improves the quality of teaching.

Among the new technologies for teaching and controlling students' knowledge, test technologies, whose development is based on the computerization of the educational process, are of greatest interest. A very common shortcoming of some testing programs is to ensure the performance of only one function - knowledge control. While this process is a component of the learning process and should be integrated with it as much as possible. This task can be solved on the basis of the use of educational technologies with the use of all kinds of information technologies for teaching and new teaching methods, as well as computer technologies for organizing independent work while testing knowledge and teaching technical disciplines. The practical implementation of these directions involves the development of test tasks that perform both monitoring and training functions. The relevance of the chosen topic determined the purpose of the work - identifying the features of the training and controlling complex for technical disciplines in the training of bachelors. As a result of the research, we offer a test technology in which several functions of the teacher are given to the training and controlling complex, which represents the software product. The developed technique and the accounted features of the use of the training and controlling complex for technical disciplines made it possible to increase the effectiveness of training by test methods, which was confirmed by the students' questioning.

Abstract:
Presented is enlarged didactic units developed by P.M. Erdniev for teaching mathematics, that improves the ability of students to understand educational material. This effect is achieved as a result of organizing the educational process according to the principles of complementarity of teaching methods and the spatial and temporal combination of interrelated elements of knowledge. Among the basic mathematical disciplines taught at Bauman Moscow State Technical University for students with disabilities the most difficult discipline is Linear Algebra, which is due to its content and various problems with students’ health. Linear Algebra is largely based on the theory from Analytical Geometry that is quite well perceived by students with disabilities. A comparative analysis of these disciplines shows that the enlarged didactic units linking these disciplines together can significantly simplify the study of Linear Algebra. However, due to difficulties with scheduling the time gap between these disciplines can be up to two semesters, which makes it impossible to directly use the enlarged didactic units. To solve this problem, we introduce the supporting discipline "Cognitive technologies for supporting the discipline Linear Algebra" which runs in parallel with Linear Algebra and which is based on the material of Analytical Geometry. Forming its content in close connection with Linear Algebra in accordance with the main principles of the enlarged didactic units, we smoothly lead students to the understanding of abstract concepts of Linear Algebra, reducing the complexity of learning.

Abstract:
The object of research is the quality of teaching technical and mathematical disciplines in modern distance education. One of the most problematic areas is communication, dialogue between a teacher and a student, personality problems in the teacher-student dyad, and the effectiveness of feedback. The idea of distance learning, obviously, is that the interaction between teacher and student takes place in a virtual space. The more efficiently this interaction is built by using a variety of techniques, methods, the better a teaching process. Distance teaching is essentially a person-centered form of education. This is a separate modern educational technology that provides a choice for the teacher, the ability to select educational material depending on the information needs of students. In the course of the study, the main possibilities for improving the effectiveness of feedback between the student and the teacher and the forms of implementing such communication were considered. The organizational and pedagogical conditions for the use of the system of certain elements of distance learning in the process of vocational training have been substantiated. Modern information technologies and innovative teaching methods in training specialists are described. It is proposed to use more actively such elements as an interactive whiteboard, interactive processing of students’ statements during a survey, both in the form of tests or a forum, and in the form of a «word cloud». The use of these interactive elements has proven itself in practice. As a tool for objective assessment of the level of feedback, a comparative analysis of statistical data is proposed, which concerns the distribution of marks at the beginning and at the end of the distance learning course. This data can also be interpreted as an indicator of the quality of teaching. In particular, the analysis of school preparation of students for mastering mathematical disciplines in higher education was carried out. Comparative analysis substantiated, in particular, the need for additional classes for students with poor preparation.

Abstract:
The article substantiates the necessity of using multimedia technologies in the process of teaching graphic disciplines at the Bauman Moscow State Technical University. The applied multimedia developments have a significant impact on the process of improving the teaching methods and, accordingly, on enhancing the quality of the acquired knowledge of students in descriptive geometry and engineering graphics. The article presents the slides of the lecture material from a multimedia manual on the discipline "Descriptive Geometry", developed by the lecturers of the department for all types of classes. The manual contains theoretical material, examples of problem solving, questions and tasks for self-control in the discipline "Descriptive Geometry". The manual is based on the use of multimedia and 3D visualization of the basic concepts and engineering examples of the use of the theoretical provisions of the discipline "Descriptive Geometry" and is intended for independent work of students of engineering and technical specialties of higher educational institutions. The article provides specific recommendations at the presentation design stage. When creating a multimedia presentation, it is necessary to take into account not only the relevant principles of classical didactics, but also the specific principles of using computer multimedia presentations. Multimedia technologies open up fundamentally new methodological approaches in the system of general education, and as for the study of graphic disciplines, multimedia technologies make it possible to quickly combine a variety of tools that contribute to a deeper and more conscious acquisition of the studied material, as well as save time of seminars and lectures. Multimedia materials in the form of electronic textbooks and presentations provide a more solid assimilation of knowledge and allow improving the efficiency and quality of education. Using multimedia technologies in the process of teaching boosts students' interest in obtaining new knowledge and activation of cognitive activity, both at the level of consciousness and subconsciousness.

Abstract:
Abstract Somewhere between technical and general vocabulary are located those words which are used in formal academic contexts with a high frequency across scientific disciplines (Farrell 1990). These are referred to as academic vocabulary. Recent findings do not support the adequacy of a single academic wordlist which can equally meet the needs of students of all disciplines (Durrant 2016), and this has inspired researchers to develop wordlists specific to each discipline. Language Teaching and Applied Linguistics is a discipline which often embraces a high number of non-English speaking students for whom it is a demanding task to engage in academic communication without having access to a ready-made resource. In the present study, a 10,781,188-word corpus based on textbooks taught in thirteen subject areas of this field was compiled. The corpus was characterized by a specified genre and time-span, and a large representative scope. It was used to draw up a list of academic words (= terminology) for students of this field. The wordlist, which is accompanied by a list of collocations, accounts for approximately 7.1% of the coverage in the corpus. The findings build on the trend toward generation of field-specific academic wordlists, which have significant implications for students, instructors, material developers and researchers.

Researched are peculiarities of using massive open online courses (MOOCs) in the process of teaching mathematics to future engineers. The need for democratization, increased accessibility and the trend towards digitalization of education in the future will lead to the widespread use of online courses in education, including technical. As part of the study, a survey was conducted of teachers and students of technical universities in the form of a questionnaire. The survey revealed a fairly high awareness of teachers about massive open online courses (93.3%). Among students, the number of such respondents was only 45.4%. The most popular among the surveyed teachers and students is the online platform “Open Education” — 53.3% and 34.5%, respectively. Note that among the reasons that prevent the use of massive open online courses in education are: lack of free time, lack of skills to work in this format, lack of regulation of the implementation of learning outcomes in MOOCs in the formal educational process. At the same time, analysis of the platforms Coursera, EdX, OpenEducation, Intuit, Lektorium, and Stepik showed that as of January 2021, 150 courses were available in both general and specific math areas. We believe that the active use of massive open online courses in preparation for the educational process can increase the efficiency of mastering competencies in solving practical mathematical problems, which will improve the training of future engineers.

Abstract:
The article highlights the urgent need for a new approach to teaching ESP (English for professional purposes) to Master’s applicants specializing in Physics and Mathematics. Therefore, a comparative analysis of textbooks and methods has been carried out to draw a parallel between traditional and innovative approaches to teaching foreign languages in technical tertiary institutions. The analysis has revealed the insufficiency of comprehensive ESP methodologies particularly in terms of teaching would-be mathematicians and physicists considering the science-students’ mindset. The latter should be primarily taken into account to ensure that the selection and submission of educational materials are tailored to the needs of science modes of thinking, namely, coherent and cohesive presentation of a project and its results and arguments; unified forms of presented achievements; academic command of style; concise and laconic content; universal “schemes” of presenting results. Within this context the role of extracurricular autonomous studies has been reconsidered and re-evaluated as far as language learning skills and competences are concerned. Particularly, benefits and drawbacks of individual work with an academic article have been examined as well as the current online availability of material and the extent of teacher’s involvement. The article stresses the need of transforming the conventional teaching models of technical translation and science-literature reading into a new form of seminar-workshop consultation. Its distinctive features and key principles would include its correlation with physical and mathematical disciplines, the use of specific formulaic expressions. The conclusion advances an idea based on some theoretical evidence of close integration between English and science departments to provide a Master’s applicant with relevant skills and competencies for professional communication in English.

Mathematical disciplines are a part of all engineering study programmes. Their teaching specifics depends on programme, and modules of subjects are continuously improved and modified. However, reprezentation of material, proposed in programme, its perception by students, aspects of independent work are very relevant.Seeking to improve quality of studies of mathematical disciplines and motivate students to interest in them we performed research on perception of mathematical disciplines. The main goal of this research was to detect pecularity of perception of mathematical disciplines by future engineers, and to correct teaching methodics dependently on received results. Also we were seeking to reveal opinion of students on studied disciplines, to observe dominant tendences, motivate students‘ interest on studied discipline. To accomplish the research, we proposed students special sets of tasks with different representation of information and organized questionings. Results were processed using program package SPSS 16.Pecularity of perception of mathematical disciplines was investigated in Vilnius Gediminas Technical University, Faculty of Fundamental Sciences. In this investigation took part 98 secondgrade students of technical specialities, batchelor studies. Pecularity of perception was investigated during disciplines of differential equations and discrete mathematics. The main results and conclusions:1. During the semester students pay little attention to tests, that are not estimated by a mark. Average mark is between 4 and 5, i.e. in many cases knowledge of students is unsafisfactoriled or poor.2. Students of engineering informatics study programme better understood tasks with applications of mathematics (tasks on physics, modelling of real life processes and so on) and readily are searching for methods of solution. Students like to solve such tasks during practical lectures. However, these tasks are interesting, but require a wider viewpoint on studied discipline, so during evaluated tests these tasks are rarelly choosed.3. During evaluated tests students are inclined to choose „standard“ tasks, since they think that they will be guaranteed to get higher marks.4. Marks during the semester are little changing and correlate with evaluation of final exam.5. To prepare for mathematical disciplines, students generally invoke lectures‘ syllabuses, electronical study media and computer manuals.6. Considering the results of research we recommend in study programms of mathematical disciplines to give more attention to the applied nature of the tasks, to graphic illustration of data and results.
