Abstract:
ABSTRACT: Teacher performance has been the focus of educational policy reforms in recent decades for the professional development of teachers. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of teaching experience and peer teaching skills on basic training on ECE teacher performance. This research uses ex-post facto quantitative method of comparative analysis and design by level. The population is all ECE teachers who attend basic-level education and training in Tangerang Regency, totaling 3358 people consisting of 116 male teachers and 3,242 female teachers. Data collection techniques using a questionnaire with data analysis include descriptive analysis. Requirements test analysis and inferential analysis. The results show that there are differences in the performance of ECE teachers between teachers with more than five years of teaching experience and less than five years, in the group of ECE teachers with high peer teaching skills and low peer teaching skills. The implication of this research is that it is hoped that various parties will become more active in aligning ECE teacher training so that it can improve the performance of ECE teachers. Abstract:
It is argued that appraisal of advanced skills in teaching should be based on the pedagogical content knowledge which good teachers, in biology for instance, could be expected to possess and which a well-trained biologist would not. Public acceptance of this claim is the key element in any argued case for a career restructuring which rewards the development of teaching expertise in schools and universities. Several initial schemes employed in Victoria for appraisal of Advanced Skills Teacher 1 are critically examined. An alternative to the competency-based approaches is presented, founded on research into the development of practical reasoning of teachers.

Abstract:
Abstract The main goal of this study is to research the impact of enrolment in Graduate Programmes (GPs) on a set of Basic Education2 and High School3 teachers in Portugal. We seek to understand whether teachers consider this training as an added value, and the extent to which this is reflected in the improvement of their professional performance, in the schools, and in their students’ learning. Preliminary research results show, among other aspects, that the reasons why teachers enrol in GPs are associated mainly with personal fulfilment issues. Moreover, despite the fact that both teachers and school leaders recognize the importance of GPs, they acknowledge that there are still few effects.

Abstract:
A Research&Training project has been set up involving people attending courses for teaching qualification; the aim was to develop metacognitive tools to create inclusive reflection methodologies aimed at enhancing mental skills dealing with inclusive education. The theoretical framework combines the studies in professional Education and Teachers' Thinking with reflection-based and metacognitive training paradigms. By means of workshops, a reflecive-oriented metacognitive tool for inclusive training has been created; four individual writing activities were carried out, including professional writing, maps and case studies, together with a group project. The results showed the need to develop new educational devices and a shared language of teachers' professional knowledge that can be useful to adapt any context in the inclusive perspective of the so-called Education for all.

AbstractThe inclusion of children with disabilities into the regular education classroom has resulted in many studies on teacher attitudes. Current research has examined teacher beliefs about inclusion, their concerns, and issues pertaining to their ability to cater effectively for children with disabilities in their classrooms. Despite this, there appears to be little research investigating potential associations between teacher attitudes and beliefs toward inclusion, their education levels, and teacher training. This study investigated the attitudes and beliefs of 36 general and special education/early intervention teachers in Victoria. Results of the study show that teachers with higher educational qualifications in special education were more positive about inclusion.

Abstract:
Competence structure that pre-service teachers need to develop to become a future teachers has been defined since the 1930s. For pre-service mathematics teachers, their competence has its own characteristics. ICT integration in developing competence for pre-service mathematics teachers has been been proved to be effective in many previous studies. In Vietnam, the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) has recommended the use of ICT to enhance teaching-learning activities in schools and universities, therefore, there have been many studies on ICT intergration at different educational levels. However, there are only a few studies on the use ICT integration in developing competence for pre-service mathematics teachers. This paper presents results from a research on the feasibility of ICT integration in developing competence of Vietnamese pre-service mathematics teachers. The research was conducted by surveying on a randomly selected of 297 pre-service mathematics teachers and 40 mathematics lecturers in six universities which provide mathematics training programs. Results show that despite of the availability of technologies, ICT integration in training pre-service teachers is still limited. In addition, ICT integration in teaching activities of mathematics teachers is not really effective because the levels of their ICT skills are very different. Pre-service mathematics teachers have the ability to use ICT equipment, and good accessibility to learning systems, but their use of the learning management systems (LMS) is limited. This study can be a reference for future studies to test the effective of ICT integration in training pre-service teachers when designing activities to develop feasibly and effectively their competence.

Abstract:
This quantitative study examines the training of student teachers for ICT-based teaching in two teacher education institution, in Israel and Finland. The data was collected in 2015-2017 using a questionnaire administered to 41 Finnish and 44 Israeli student teachers. The results show that most student teachers had practice in ICT-based teaching. However, about a third of student teachers in both institutions practiced only two times or less using ICT. Those who practiced mostly used a teacher-centred approach as did their college and school mentor teachers who integrated ICT in their lessons. The variable describing competency in ICT-based teaching correlated with student teachers' attitudes, the number of ICT-based lessons they taught, modelling by the school mentor teacher, and the various schools’ infrastructures and support. The results show that students in Israeli institutions are better prepared to teach with ICT which can be explained by the impact of the latest national reforms. We conclude that students' perception of their TPACK is the function of a variety of factors: on a personal level (attitudes towards the contribution of ICT to teaching and learning); on an institutional level (curriculum, modelling by faculty, institutional strategies); on a field practice school level (modelling by school mentors, infrastructure, pedagogical, technological, and administrative support); and on a national level (reforms and their implementation models). All these factors must be considered to promote the pedagogically innovative integration of ICT in teacher training and the overall education system. The best strategy to achieve this goal is to support collaboration between TEIs and schools on the national level. Wide-scale implementation of ICT in teaching demands significant investments in infrastructure and training. Hence much of its success depends on the national vision and priorities given to this purpose.

Abstract:
Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to present the possibilities offered by Lesson and Learning Studies (LLS) for training and for improving and generating knowledge by reconstructing the practical knowledge of teachers in university training through joint design, observation and reflection. In short, the research aims to show how merging LLS contributes to developing fundamental teaching skills in new, uncertain contexts and to recreating processes of research and analysis of complex situations from critical and creative perspectives by involving university teachers and student teachers in disciplined, informed reflection on their own practice through shared, narrative productions in a dual spiral which promotes the contrasting of experiences and perspectives in an ongoing manner. Design/methodology/approach – A case study of own practice in a university master’s degree, the aim of which is to develop a training improvement process by following the stages of LLS. Findings – The case study shows the need to reverse the theory-practice sequence and to increase the importance of experience, the relevance of tutoring in the role of teachers, and the significance of cooperation and contrast as learning strategies. The evidence presented shows that LLS can be an extremely useful resource and procedure to reconstruct practical knowledge, facilitating internal contrast between the different espoused theories of the members of the group of teachers, and also between their espoused theories and their practical knowledge, in other words their theories-in-use. Originality/value – The paper explores the value of LLS to reconstruct the practical knowledge of university teachers.

Abstract:
Demonstrating knowledge of content requires teachers to display extensive knowledge of the critical concepts in the discipline. This study was set up to provide a research-based landscape of the content knowledge level of elementary mathematics teachers viewed in the local district of Ayungon in the Division of Negros Oriental, Philippines. Survey and correlational methods of research were used in the study involving 95 non-randomly selected teachers. Results revealed that the content knowledge level of the teachers was approaching proficiency. The teachers’ educational attainment, number of training attended, and the number of years in teaching mathematics were not significantly related to their content knowledge level. It was concluded that teaching experience and professional development in the form of pursuing graduate studies and attending training did not have bearing with the content knowledge level possessed by the teachers. However, the teachers were inferred as resourceful and committed to teaching mathematics despite their weaknesses in the content knowledge to share with their learners. Hence, enhancement training in all areas in mathematics is to be provided to elementary mathematics teachers by implementing the training design developed by the researchers. The ultimate goal is to develop further the content knowledge, mastery, and skills of the teachers to achieve the highest proficiency level in mathematics. Abstract:
Recently, different opinions on teacher training in Lithuania have been increasingly heard during various meetings and conferences. This discussion was inspired by a number of challenges. Currently, the country is facing a considerable demographic problem: a declining number of pupils at schools, optimization of school network, and aging teaching staff. This reality has a direct impact on the training strategy of teachers. A current offer is to establish two teacher-training centres in Vilnius and Kaunas, and to connect the universities of Klaipeda and Siauliai to them. It has been noticed that more and more young people, who have graduated from higher education and want to work at schools, prefer one-year pedagogical studies, or even a double qualification degree instead of four years of full pedagogical studies. For this reason, there is an increasing interest in organizing pedagogical studies at Vilnius University and Kaunas University of Technology.

Abstract:
This is an analysis of how specialist music teachers sing and teach how to sing, based on data collected from six case studies carried out in Spanish primary schools. The study aimed at understanding classroom singing practices, and in particular the provision or absence of vocal instruction in relation with teachers’ singing models. The findings support claims for thorough vocal training in the preparation of music teachers to enable them to face the challenges of the profession. Also suggested is the need to provide them with a coherent theoretical framework about the teaching and learning of singing.

Abstract:
Although the cruise sector is considered an ‘unreplaceable’ form of tourism, with the cruise industry recording steady growth over the years, there is a lack of research and analysis on cruise ships themselves. Accordingly, this study sought to determine whether service quality differences among ships operating in the Asian market could suggest broader implications for the sustainability of the cruise industry. We chose the SERVQUAL framework for the analysis; we also employed the multiple case study method and topic synthesis to compare the service quality of three ships. Of the ships investigated—the Costa Victoria, Diamond Princess, and Superstar Virgo—the Diamond Princess had the highest service quality. Based on the results, we outlined suggestions for improving the quality of cruise services, including introducing the latest large ships and high-tech facilities, complying with the departure and arrival times of sailing schedules, improving the ratio of crew members per passenger, establishing a cruise personnel training system, and expanding membership program operations.

Abstract:
Teachers often test course materials by using them in class. Usability testing provides an alternative: teachers receive student feedback and revise materials before teaching a class. Case studies based on interviews and observations with two teaching assistants who usability tested materials before teaching introductory technical writing demonstrate how usability testing can make novice teachers more confident about and help them predict student experiences with their assignments. By helping to train teachers, usability testing can also help better serve students.

Abstract:
Purpose Implementation of a new food literacy curriculum provides multiple health and social benefits to school students. The success of any new curriculum execution is partly determined by teachers’ perceptions about the new curriculum contents, and barriers and challenges for its delivery. The purpose of this paper is to explore teachers’ views of a new food literacy curriculum named Victorian Certificate of Education Food Studies for senior secondary school students in Victoria, Australia. Design/methodology/approach A qualitative study design was used in this study. In total, 14 teachers who were planning to teach the new curriculum were individually interviewed in October-December 2016. The interviews were transcribed and analysed using the template analysis technique. Findings The majority of teachers appreciated the inclusion of food literacy and nutrition concepts in the new curriculum. However, half of the teachers had doubts about their readiness to teach it. Most teachers mentioned that they needed more training and resources to increase their confidence in teaching the curriculum. Practical implications These findings reveal that teachers need more awareness, resources, and guidance to increase their confidence in delivering the new curriculum. Provision of more resources and opportunities for training in food literacy concepts and instructional methods could facilitate its implementation. Originality/value These findings serve as an important first step to gain the perspectives of secondary school teachers’ opinions about the new curriculum. Moreover, these opinions and suggestions could inform the future design and implementation of similar food literacy curricula in Australia or elsewhere.

AbstractDuring the last decade there has been a call for schools to become more active in the promotion of students’ social and emotional learning (SEL). Given that teachers are significant adults in young people’s lives, they are often in the best position to deliver SEL programs. This small in-depth study investigated the impact of implementing a specific SEL program, “The Best of Coping”, on both the teacher and a class of 26 Year 9 (15-16 years) students. The study used a mixed methodology to evaluate the impact of the program. Both quantitative and qualitative data, including two case studies and entries from the teacher’s reflective journal, are reported. Changes in coping for both teacher and students as well as a positive impact on relationships between teachers and students were demonstrated. The study highlights the importance of the teacher’s role in implementing SEL programs and the challenges for teachers of delivering these programs. Issues associated with the implementation of school-based coping skills programs and the role of educational psychologists in supporting teachers in this work are discussed.

Abstract:
The analysis conducted in this paper provides useful insights about training of vocational and technical teachers, both in terms of the theoretical framework surrounding the concept and how it’s applied in Europe in general and Greece in specific. Taking the analysis of technical teachers’ training into account, as well as its basic concepts and characteristics, it is clear that the central aim of the concept is to combine the need for teachers to acquire the necessary professional skills to practice their profession and be consistent with labour market and industrial standards at the same time. In order for these objectives to be achieved, vocational and technical teachers need to be subject to professionalization, which shall accompany throughout the whole duration of their professional career. These needs are summarized in that teachers must be characterized by discipline, acquisition of certain academic knowledge, and their combination with pedagogical studies. The case study of ASPETE’s training program for vocational and technical teachers was very indicative of what these teachers actually need, in order to effectively practice their profession. Essentially, training programs must focus on the changing roles and tasks for vocational and technical teachers in modern years, as well as combine academic courses with real-life practice, so that prospective teachers are exposed to real teaching activities, long before they officially start building their professional career.

Abstract:
Purpose The purpose of this study is to explore how multicultural curriculum and instruction in a teacher-credentialing program prepared pre-service teachers to work with diverse students. Design/methodology/approach The research method used was a qualitative approach. The research design was a descriptive single embedded case study to interview pre-service teachers who were in their second semester in a teacher-credentialing program at a university on the west coast and pre-service teachers who were in their final semester in the same teacher-credentialing program. Pre-service teachers discussed their disappointment in the program for their lack of training in how to work with culturally diverse students. Findings The findings from the study will add to the body of knowledge specific to teacher-credentialing programs, curriculum developers and universal design for learning on K-12 education. Research limitations/implications As schools become more diverse, an important role of teacher-credentialing courses is to train future teachers with the knowledge to assist culturally diverse students. If teachers were multicultural teachers, they would be better prepared to instruct culturally diverse students and could acknowledge sociocultural resources and information that students bring to the classroom. Originality/value The study is essential because training teachers to instruct culturally diverse students is critical as student demographics become more diverse.

Abstract:
Many people in the twenty-first century are familiar with technology. The Education? Ministry of the Kingdom of Cambodia has also included ICT subjects in the school curriculum. However, due to the lack of preparation, many Cambodian teachers, especially those living in the countryside, face many challenges with ICT applications and seem unprepared to use ICT in their teaching. The current study employed a quantitative method through survey techniques. It aimed to examine Cambodian teachers' perceptions of ICT use in the classroom, the level of training on ICT, and the challenges of technical support and ICT infrastructure in schools. 109 teachers (25 females) were asked to participate in the study. The results show that all the teachers had a positive attitude toward using ICT in teaching. Although most of them are confident in their ability to use ICT, less than half use it in their teaching. The result also shows that most teachers received training on using ICT, but they possessed only basic computer skills. Most of them reported that having poor access to computers and the internet was their main challenge. Future studies should be conducted using a qualitative or mixed-methods design with similar topics. The study regarding the challenges of implementing an ICT school curriculum provided by MoEYS is also recommended.

Abstract:
Background and Purpose: Early 21st century saw great changes in all fields of life due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Education worldwide has to suffer from many difficulties when schools are forced to close down for safety. In Vietnam, online teaching has been applied in most of cities and provinces where COVID-19 pandemic has been serious. The implementation of remote teaching in a large quantity of schools was first seen in 2021. However, not many studies have been found on massive immediate online teaching. Due to the fact that a thorough understanding of online teaching in English language teaching is necessary for better online teaching to be delivered in the near future, this study aims to investigate English teachers’ attitudes towards online teaching and their challenges. Methodology: This study was designed as a qualitative case study. Nine English teachers from the primary schools and high schools were invited to participate in the semi-interviews. The research instrument used was the in-depth interviews, in which the questions were adapted from the previous studies. Data were generated using codes and analysed in themes. Findings: The findings revealed that COVID-19 is the main factor forcing English teachers to equip themselves with knowledge and skills for online teaching. It was found that English teachers in Vietnam were reluctant to conduct remote language teaching due to the lack of knowledge and skills of integrating technology in education, facilities, teaching condition, and parents’ interference. Contributions: The study concludes that English teachers in Vietnam experience hardship with the remote teaching and their challenges. With such understanding, it is suggested that instant support for teachers and continuous training should be provided to reduce the hardship and improve teachers’ skills in conducting online teaching. The lack of relevant Teacher Education Training Programme (TETP) specifically for economics teachers in Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) colleges globally, including South Africa has posed many challenges for teachers. This study reports on the pedagogical challenges of Economics teachers with Postgraduate Certificate (PGCE): Further Education and Training (FET) phase teaching N-level 4 economics in Technical and Vocational Education and Training colleges. The study investigated the pedagogical challenges experienced by economics teachers during the teaching and learning of N-Level 4 economics in one college at Motheo Technical and Vocational Education and Training College. The seven categories of teacher knowledge by Shulman's (1987), underpinned this study. In addition, the pedagogical challenges of Business Studies in secondary schools by Kimotho (2016) serve as a lens to understand the economics teachers’ challenges in a Technical, Vocational Education, and Training college. This qualitative research approach used an exploratory case study research design, and selected two economics teachers purposefully and their students who were observed in two different classrooms and later interviewed individually. The findings revealed that the economics teachers displayed five pedagogical challenges associated with content knowledge (CK), curriculum knowledge, pedagogical content knowledge (PCK), knowledge of students, and the interaction with students. Based on the study’s limitation, there is a need to identify the educational implications on economics teachers’ pedagogical challenges when teaching economics to N-Level 4 students.

Abstract:
This study presents the suitability of case studies, which is a qualitative research method and can be used as a teaching method in the training of pre-service teachers, for experiential learning theory. The basic view of experiential learning theory on learning and the qualitative case study paradigm are consistent with each other within the framework of such principles as subjectivity, environmental interaction, holism, contextuality, constructivism, and access to information (theorizing). The concrete experience mode of the experiential learning cycle corresponds to the data collection stage of qualitative case studies, the reflective observation mode corresponds to the data analysis stage, and the abstract conceptualization mode corresponds to the theorizing stage. Accordingly, this study notes that qualitative case studies can be used as a teaching method in the school experience course for the pre-service training of pre-service teachers. It also explains in detail the steps to be taken when this new method is used in the teaching process, the preparations that should be done prior to the employment of the method, and what should be considered in the application of the method.

Abstract:
During the COVID-19 pandemic, teachers from higher education faced challenges on how to adequately adjust their teaching from a face-to-face to an online format to train future teachers properly. The study aimed to illustrate participants' experiences regarding their training during virtual courses in an international Asian HE institution. The applied methodology was qualitative, with a case study as a research design, intending to understand participants' experiences and adjust the training model for virtual classes in a particular Asian context. The participants were MA and Ph.D. in education students enrolled in the Instructional Models class, delivered online. Data collection consisted of (a) a focus-group discussion (with five participants) lasting for one hour and a half; (b) document analysis (15 students' journals); (c) video records for five micro-teaching; (d) one study group that lasted for 60 minutes organized to reflect on the 14 micro-teaching lessons. After thematic coding of data, the results revealed participants' empowering experiences during training, with challenges and success in conducting micro-teachings for virtual classes. The participants recommended including more micro-teaching sessions to master the teaching strategies demonstrated and introducing basic training in using technology for those who did not have technological skills. With empowering but still challenging teaching experiences, for further studies, the recommendation is to apply the training model in an online context, for both pre-service and in-service teachers, from different levels of education.

Abstract:
Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to explain how initial teachers in Japan can develop instructional and thinking skills through lesson study with mentors. It will clarify the point of view in which mentors evaluate the lesson plan, research lessons and kyouzai-kenkyuu of initial teachers. Design/methodology/approach – This study adopts a case analysis that shows how a mentor gives advice to an initial teacher in the post-lesson discussion. In Japanese lesson study, the time schedule of the post-lesson discussion is well structured, so the time for a mentor to state his or her comment is limited to around ten minutes. Mentors try to help initial teachers develop instructional and thinking skills. Findings – From simple problem to high-level cases in which finding the problem of a lesson is difficult, only a highly competent mentor can find the problem and suggest improvements. Mentors need the competency to observe the lesson and the knowledge and skills to improve the lesson. Research limitations/implications – This paper focusses on how mentors can help develop the kyouzai-kenkyuu understanding of initial teachers. More studies that focus on how mentors can train initial teachers to understand how students learn during lessons are needed. Originality/value – This paper discloses what Japanese teachers think of lesson plans and kyouzai-kenkyuu and how mentors help develop kyouzai-kenkyuu understanding among initial teachers.

Abstract:
Studies have shown that solving real-world problems involving triangles is one of the most difficult topics for the pre-service secondary mathematics teachers engaging study and training in metropolitan institutions. We have known little about performances of the pre-service mathematics teachers from regional, rural and remote (RRR) areas engaging study and training in regional universities. This case study intends to explore whether solving word problems involving triangles would also be challenging for the RRR pre-service mathematics teachers, and what unique factors may negatively affect the RRR student teachers’ performances in solving word problems involving triangles. This study compared the works of two groups of the first-year pre-service mathematics teachers who enrolled in an undergraduate education program in a regional university in Australia. The two chosen word questions for comparison were parts of the assignments involving solving triangles to the students. Through statistical analysis, this study indicates that the considerable proportion of no attempts among the enrolled RRR students is the distinctive difference between the metropolitan and RRR pre-service mathematics teachers. Although still challenging, the RRR student teachers who attempted the word problems seemed performed better than the metropolitan students in solving word problems involving triangles.

Abstract:
In the teachers’ training schools of Reunion Island and Mayotte, we have been training primary pre-service teachers in programming for the past three years. Most trainees have not learned programming before during their school and university curriculum. As a result, this subject is new to them and they find themselves in the situation of their own pupils. This is why we asked them, during their learning, to produce a “feelings” notebook in which they explain their successes, their failures and what it brings to them for understanding their own pupils. We held two types of studies of these documents: quantitative and qualitative. The analysis shows that if on the whole, the group of trainees have globally identified the key aspects of a learning situation, it is not the case for each trainee.

Abstract:
This article examines the change in teachers' attitudes and instruction following computerization of their schools. Parameters chosen to assure the success of the study were: teachers' training courses, establishment of teachers' teams, teachers' expectations and willingness, and teachers' use of the computer in the school. The study took place in Israeli schools using the following tools: interviews, questionnaires, observations, case studies, and focus groups. The groups examined were teachers and students. The results showed a significant change in the teachers' attitude and instruction following computerization. Those who took training courses on computers, used computer tools as aids, and made greater use of software, had a greater willingness to employ the computer. Yet the teachers were not yet open to changing their methods by using the computer as a teaching tool and still preferred traditional frontal teaching. They stated that they did not have expectations for changing the learning process significantly as a result of computerization.

Abstract:
Integrating technology in education is an extraordinary challenge in rural villages of developing countries like Nepal. Since greater understandings of the circumstances surrounding teachers and schools could illuminate issues and opportunities for positive change, a case study of the telecenter in Bungamati, Nepal was conducted. Data, in the form of interviews, observations and related documents, were gathered and analyzed to highlight and understand the local hurdles for integrating technology in teaching. Findings were threefold: teachers lack technology integration skills; informal learning was the preferred way to learn technology; and males had greater access to technology. In this study, the researcher has drawn the following conclusions: a) teachers need technology access and training, b) administrators need a framework for integration, c) informal learning should be considered and promoted and d) there is a clear need for gender equity. Furthermore, suggestions for future studies include a need for informal learning, the use of the TPACK (Technological, Pedagogical, and Content Knowledge)framework for integration technology and more research in the area of teacher training with technology in other developing countries. Abstract:
<p>It is ideally expected that after student teachers have gone through comprehensive curricula contents, they should possess the necessary competences and skills to enable them deliver effectively as teachers. However, some student teachers in Tanzania have expressed their concerns that some of the contents found in the curricula for teacher training programmes do not link with the contents taught in secondary schools. Therefore, this study was designed to examine the congruency between the contents student teachers cover during their studies at Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA), one of the Tanzanian teacher training institutions, and contents taught in Tanzanian secondary schools. The study involved a randomly obtained sample of 181 third year students, pursuing various teacher education degree programmes. The study adopted a cross-sectional research design in which a set of questionnaire, which consisted of both open and closed-ended questions, was administered to the sampled respondents. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS in which frequencies and percentages of responses to the questions presented in the questionnaire were computed to answer research questions advanced for this study. The findings were as follows: First, the majority (66.9%) of student teachers felt that there was a congruency between the University contents and secondary school contents and about one third (33.1%) of student teachers felt that the congruency did not exist. Secondly, the majority (95%) of student teachers felt that the contents of education courses taught at the University were applicable in real school situations and the minority (5%) did not feel so. Third, the majority (91.7%) of student teachers felt that the teacher training programmes offered at SUA had enabled them to acquire sufficient classroom teaching skills and basic theories in education. Fourth, some challenges facing teacher training programmes offered at SUA, as reported by the respondents, included irrelevant contents in some university courses, inadequate infrastructures, and lack of opportunities for practice, to mention but a few. Based on these findings, it is recommended that whenever an opportunity to review the existing teacher training programmes comes, the exercise should be preceded with needs analysis to help determine if the existing programmes adequately address the needs of the teaching profession for which the student teachers are being prepared.</p>

Abstract:
The article deals with the psychological and pedagogical problems of training situational centers (TSC) as a learning environment for group decision-making. TSC have a significant role to play in the process of formation of a new type of managerial personnel, managers for the "digital economy" and "digital state. Emphasizes the importance of workplaces as a Central element for the functioning of TSCs; in this case, the workplace is treated as an element of the educational environment in relation to two related subject areas – social management and education. The script approach at the organization of educational activity in TSC is described; the script of an educational task contains, in particular, characteristics and the description of the principles of work of the corresponding workplaces, and also methods of work of participants of studies (students, teachers, experts, game technicians, producers). The importance of forming a visual information image of the management situation for the collective work of students is emphasized. We consider the models of classes in the TSC (lecture-discussion, case-study, role play), as well as psychological, didactic, technological and organizational factors taken into account in these models. The problem of "Brainstorming" is considered as an example of communicative decision-making technology in the TSC.

Classroom Action Research Training for Aisyiyah PAUD Central Java Teachers to Improve the Quality of Learning delivered by the Principal and Teacher Training of PAUD 'Aisyiyah PWA Central Java, this activity aims to: 1) instill awareness in PAUD 'Aisyiyah teachers on the importance of Classroom Action Research 2) improve skills prepare proposals for Classroom Action Research 3) provide assistance related to Classroom Action Research, 4) train teachers to be able to provide treatment to the subjects studied, so that they experience positive changes. The methods used in this training are presentations, discussions, case studies. This training activity was attended by 142 teachers from PAUD 'Aisyiyah in Central Java. The results of the service are theoretically successful, this can be seen from the enthusiasm of the training participants who actively ask questions about the problems they encounter related to the steps of preparing the CAR proposal, but judging from the practice of preparing the proposal the results have not been satisfactory, because only 15% of participants can prepare a CAR proposal properly. and 33% is considered sufficient, while 52% of participants have not succeeded in compiling a CAR proposal. It is not easy to write CAR, it requires independent effort training from the teacher concerned to solve the problems faced in PBM. In general, PAUD 'Aisyiyah Central Java teachers need further assistance in writing Classroom Action Research.

Abstract:
We present a case study of the work with the Methodology of Problem-Solving as an Investigation (MPSI) in the context of the Spanish Master’s in Secondary Education. Here, future physics and chemistry secondary teachers had to solve some sequences of school open-ended problems, in order to promote reflection on its characteristics and favour its later use. The objectives of this research consist of describing how the problem “What might happen when a substance is heated up?” was introduced, and analysing preservice teachers’ achievement levels in the competence dimensions of the MPSI. In addition, the article justifies the suitability of the abovementioned problem to work on most of the curricular requirements about physical and chemical changes in a single problem. The results from the future teachers’ written reports can be considered as positive, and appear to be best for the “formulation of hypotheses” and worst for the “design of resolution strategies”. Moreover, these results do not seem to very much depend on the preservice teachers’ previous studies. Finally, we call for providing more inquiry-based learning opportunities to future teachers, in order to promote improvement in these scientific competencies and favour a later inclusion of the Inquiry-Based Science Education at school levels.

Abstract:
Abstract In the field of teachers training of different levels (primary and secondary) and types (in-service and pre-service), exploiting video support for teaching practices analysis is a well-established training method to foster reflection on professional practices, self- and hetero-observation, and finally to improve teaching. While video has long been used to capture microteaching episodes, illustrate classroom cases and practices, and to review teaching practices, recent developments in video annotation tools may help to extend and augment the potentialities of video viewing. Various, although limited, numbers of studies have explored this field of research, especially with respect to in-service teachers training. However, this is less the case for Vocational Education and Training. The study presented here is a pilot experience in the field of in-service teachers training in the vocational sector. A two-year training programme using video annotation has been evaluated and analysed. The dimensions investigated are teachers’ perceptions on the usefulness, acceptance and sustainability of video annotation in teaching practices analysis. Results show a very good acceptance and usefulness of video annotation for reflecting on practice and to deliver feedbacks. Implications for the integration of a structural programme of analysis of practices based on video annotation are presented.
