Abstract:

Previous literature suggests that tea garden workers of Bangladesh are excluded from social, political and economic aspects. Therefore, this research work aimed to exploring the process of social exclusion of tea garden worker. All the tea gardens within Sylhet City Corporation have been selected as the study area and empirical data has been collected from selected respondents by Survey and In-depth interview methods. The field data show that tea garden workers are excluded in main three ways. They are deprived from social and political rights and have a very small control on their material world. Such deprivations made them incapable and create a cycle of poverty which leads them to social exclusion. Moreover, tea garden owners and managers play a peculiar role to exploit them from their basic socio-political and economic rights. In such a way, tea garden workers become excluded from the main stream people and living inhuman life.

Abstract:

ObjectivesOccupational health is still in the developmental stage in Bangladesh. There is a lack of focus on agricultural workers. Statistics on musculoskeletal symptoms (MSS) of any occupational group can assist in developing intervention and ergonomics-based prevention. This study aimed to assess work-related MSS among tea garden workers.SettingThis cross-sectional study was done in one tea garden in Moulvibazar district which has the highest number of gardens in Bangladesh.Design and participants346 tea garden workers were interviewed using the Nordic Musculoskeletal Questionnaire Extended Version 2. Workers 18–60 years of age and of both sexes were interviewed individually.Outcome measuresPrevalence of MSS among the tea garden workers, MSS in different body regions and MSS related informations. Sociodemographic and work-related factor associated with MSS.ResultsAmong the tea garden workers, 276 were female and 70 were male. The study showed 80.9% had symptoms in the past 12 months while 80.1% and 76.6% had in the past 4 weeks and on the day of the interview, respectively. Symptoms were most commonly reported at the shoulder (78.2%) followed by upper back (56.1%) and lower back (32.5%). Workers engaged with plucking operation were found to be significantly associated with symptoms compared with non-pluckers (p<0.05). Female workers were more likely to display symptoms in the neck (p<0.05) than male workers. Increased work hours were significantly associated with symptoms in the lower back (p<0.05). Overtime was responsible for symptoms in the elbow and hip/buttock (p<0.05). Statistics from relevant studies in India, Malaysia and Thailand were compared with the results of this study.ConclusionsThe prevalence of MSS among tea garden workers was found to be very high, and ergonomic interventions like reduction of weight load, job rotation and small breaks can reduce these symptoms.

Abstract:

Tea garden workers in Assam, India continue to face precarious living and working conditions which have led to recent protests by workers’ unions and student organisations in Assam. This study examines a survey of over 3,000 tea garden worker respondents in three locations across Assam to understand the material realities of these workers and their families. The authors employ a concept that they term ‘stickiness’, drawing on the work of James C. Scott (1976) and Anna Tsing (2005), to describe the theorised interplay between the living and working conditions of plantation life and the vulnerability of the workers. Empirical findings are organised and presented using descriptive statistics around problem areas that provide a broad understanding of the living and working conditions of tea garden workers in Assam. The study also identified a rise in trafficking amongst tea garden families. This study concludes with recommendations from the researchers and partner organisations, as well as intentions for future inquiry.

Abstract:

Gender dynamics significantly impact tea garden workers’ performance. A Gender Disparity Index (GDI) was developed for assessing gender differences within the tea plantation sector during 2022-23. The construction of GDI commenced with item analysis, employing the Likert’s Technique. A total of seven dimensions were included following the Harvard analytical and Moser frameworks of gender analysis. Based on the relevancy, t statistics, and content validity, five dimensions were kept in the index, namely, activity profile, influencing factors for differential roles, gender role identification, gender need assessment, and decision-making behaviour of tea garden workers. A universe of 92 items under five dimensions was prepared, and the relevancy of each item was judged by 56 experts; subsequently, 72 items were screened on which the responses of 60 workers of non sampled tea gardens were obtained and finally 68 items were selected under five dimensions of the index followed by testing of their content validity and reliability of the index. This GDI may be used as an effective instrument to unravel gender disparities in tea gardens and other similar plantations’ estate.

Abstract:

Background: Due to increasing lifestyle changes and poverty, double burden of malnutrition is becoming more and more severe, especially in the underserved areas like tea gardens. Food security is also a major issue not only in underdeveloped countries but also in developing countries like India. The study aims to estimate the prevalence of malnutrition among the tea garden workers and to find out the associated factors with malnutrition among the tea garden workers of Darjeeling district. Methods: 200 people were selected from 10 tea gardens of Darjeeling district by cluster sampling method. They were interviewed using a structured questionnaire to find out the associated factors with malnutrition. Weight and height was measured using standard measuring tools and then BMI was calculated. To find out the determinants of nutritional status, an ordinal regression analysis was done with the help of SPSS software. Results: The prevalence of under nutrition and obesity was 25% and 20.5% respectively. The ordinal regression model showed that the odds of higher BMI was found with increasing age, male gender, being a permanent garden employee and higher educational status. Household food insecurity increased the odds of undernutrition, as individuals from food secure households had significantly higher odds of getting higher BMI. Conclusions: Nutritional status is closely associated with socio-economic and demographical variables and household food security. To ensure the health and nutrition of the tea garden workers, a more comprehensive strategy to addressing socio-demographic issues and household food security is required.

Abstract:

Purpose Throughout history, tea garden workers are treated as slaves of employers and live an inhuman life in modern society. This paper aims to provide an account of the deplorable community (workers) of the tea garden in Bangladesh. Design/methodology/approach The authors used a mixed-method research approach to conduct this study. In the first stage, using a semi-structured questionnaire, Focus group discussions (FGDs) were done by forming two groups from two districts to get a clear picture of the tea garden workers’ living standards in Bangladesh. Based on the findings of the FGD, the researchers prepared a structured questionnaire containing the basic elements of their quality of work life. In this stage, the authors collected the information from 200 tea workers about their quality of work life. Findings The major finding showed that the overall country’s economy is booming because of tea workers’ contributions, but their economic conditions gradually become impoverished. The workers’ are living with colossal poverty and vulnerability. Besides, the workers are supposed to get fundamental rights, including food, clothing, shelter, education and health, but the higher authorities were found indifferent to take the necessary initiative to implement these rights. Research limitations/implications The data was collected only from the tea garden workers. This study excluded any other parties (trade union leaders, panchayats, garden managers and owners). Thus, it is suggested that the researchers should conduct a similar study covering the opinion, including all the parties. Practical implications Both the workers and the higher authorities of the tea garden might benefit from this study’s findings. Workers will be more aware of their basic rights. The authorities can also prepare some effective policies to improve the overall quality of life of the tea workers. Originality/value To the best knowledge of the authors, this is the first study on tea garden workers’ inhuman life in Bangladesh in the entire emerald insight publishers.

Abstract:

Background: Tea garden workers play a crucial role to the economy of the country. Majority of the tea garden worker are females and suffer from various health problems including depression. The study was conducted to assess the extent of depression among the tea garden workers and their associated factors. Methods: This descriptive type of cross-sectional study was conducted among 192 respondents in a selected tea garden name Jaflong tea garden in Goainghat, Sylhet. An interview was conducted face to face with the respondents for data collection with a semi-structured questionnaire. To assess the depression, the respondents were at first screened by General Health Questionnaire 12 and then who scored more than 2 were clinically assessed by Diagnostic and statistical manual fourth edition(DSM-4). After then Hamilton Rating scale for depression (HRDS) was used to measure the severity of depression among the diagnosed depressed cases. The study was conducted at Jaflong tea garden in Goainghat, Sylhet. The study period extended from September 2015 to February 2016. Results: The results show about two third of the respondents were distributed in the age group 30-40 years. Out of the total 192 respondents 72 were male (37%) and 120 were female (63%).About four-fifth (80%) of the respondents were illiterate compared to only 20% respondents who had primary level education and all the respondents were inhabitant of slum. The monthly family income of the respondents was from 900 taka to 2500 taka. Among the total 192 respondents, 78 (40.7%) had a working experience of 16-21 years followed by 62 (32.3%) had 10-15 years and 52 (27%) had 4-9 years. Almost 80% of the respondents (n=152) worked for 8 hours. The proportion of depression among the particular tea garden workers were 21%. Altogether 40 respondents (out of 192) were found as patient of depression and the prevalence rate is more in ever married women of less than or equal to 35 years old and whose experience is 16-21 years and have to work more than or equal to 8 hours. Conclusion: Workers with a potential to suffer from depression may be a crucial economic problem for employers. So from the present study, it is highlighted that mental illness is a significant public health problem in particular occupational sector that need to be addressed to the concerned people. Abstract:

ABSTRACT Introduction The overall health status of workers of tea garden of Bangladesh is below the national standard. Also, almost nothing has been reported about status of hepatitis virus infection among these population and there is also a lack of consensus. Materials and methods Several health-related facts, especially those of liver diseases, were collected from 130 workers of tea garden via questionnaire. Sera were also collected from these subjects to assess positivity of hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) and antibody to hepatitis C virus (anti-HCV). Hepatitis B virus (HBV) genotype was also done using genotype-specific primers in HBsAg-positive sera. Results Out of 130 tea garden workers, 5 were positive for HBsAg; however, none was reactive to anti-HCV. Genotyping of HBV deoxyribonucleic acid of 4 sera samples revealed that 2 belonged to genotype A, 1 to genotype C, and 1 to genotype D. Various risk factors were documented in HBV-infected subjects by analyzing the questionnaire. Conclusion Hepatitis B virus in considerable high percentage is prevalent among workers of tea garden in Bangladesh, and immediate vaccination against HBV should be employed. Abstract:

Introduction: Work related musculoskeletal disorders (WRMSDs) is common among tea-plucking folks and may be attributed to the long duration of work in same posture, the load they carry while plucking and transporting the leaves to the nearest depot, improper job rotations and the difficult hilly terrains. Objective: To determine the prevalence and pattern of musculoskeletal disorders among tea garden workers and to ascertain the risk factors for the same. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted among 210 female tea garden workers employed in tea gardens of Darjeeling district using 30 cluster sampling design. Data on musculoskeletal morbidities were collected using Standard Nordic Musculoskeletal Questionnaire and ergonomic risk was assessed by Rapid Entire Body Assessment (REBA) worksheet. Results: Proportion of musculoskeletal disorders in past 12 months was 92.4% and in past 7 days was 71.4%. Upper extremities were the most commonly affected body part. Higher altitude, age, BMI, more duration in present job, history of work related injuries and increased REBA risk assessment score were found to be significantly associated with musculoskeletal disorders. Conclusion: Musculoskeletal morbidities among female tea garden workers of Darjeeling were found to be considerably high. Ergonomic mechanised assistance in tea plucking can reduce this proportion of MSD and thus may go a long way in reducing sickness absenteeism and increasing productivity. Abstract:

This paper aims to understand the experiences of disadvantages and discrimination among tea garden workers in Bangladesh. Based on the interviews of 75 tea garden workers, the paper identified few domains where they experience disadvantage and discrimination. The paper recommended government intervention and NGO and INGO initiatives to ensure educational opportunities for their children, provide healthcare facilities and increase wages for the garden workers. The paper has implications for the international community to ensure equitable society and social justice for the vulnerable and minority groups all over the world.

Abstract:

This thesis offers an analysis of labour relations and social space in the tea gardens of north-east India. Existing literature provides us with an understanding of how the plantations operate as economic spaces, but in so doing they treat workers as undifferentiated economic beings defined only by their class identity. Space, however, has to be animated to be meaningful. Through participant observation and semi-structured interviews I explore the plantations as actual lived spaces where people are bound by and resist constraints. Multiple intersecting identities play out within these social spaces making them ethnic, religious, and caste spaces in addition to being gendered. Focusing on these intersectional identities, I demonstrate how region, ethnicity, party affiliation, caste, religion are played out and how they are invoked at certain points by the women workers. The articulations of identity not only determine a sense of belonging or non-belonging to a space but also how one belongs. Within the physical sites of the plantation, I examine how the women perceive these spaces and how, in moving between ideas of home/world, public/private, these very binaries are negated. The strict sexual division of labour primarily in the workplace but also in the household and villages inscribe the physical sites with certain gendered meanings and performances. The women negotiate these in their everyday lives and shape these spaces even as they are shaped by them. Conditioned by gender norms and the resultant hierarchy their narratives can be read as stories of deprivation and misery, but looking deeper their agency can also be uncovered. The lives of my research participants show how the social spaces within which they operate are not static; in spite of spatial controls there are the many minute acts of resistance through which the women work the existing restraints to their least disadvantage. Focussing on the minute acts of insubordination, deceit and even confrontation I elucidate how the women made use of the relations of subordination to pave spaces of resistance and sometimes even of autonomy. Furthermore, not all acts of agency are minute or unspectacular. I map instances of highly visible, volatile and aggressive protests apparently challenging the accepted social codes within which they function. In expressing themselves, the women use the available political repertories of protest in forms of strikes, blockades, street plays, etc. Through these instances of activism they appropriate and become visible in the public realm and challenge the accepted ways in which social spaces and norms play out. Despite their articulate nature, these protests usually seek to address immediate demands and do not escalate into social movements. Also while volatile in action, the protests seek legitimacy within the accepted gender codes that operate in their everyday life in the plantation.

Abstract:

In this present research study, the problems of earning livelihood of tea plantation women workers are given thrust. This operational research focused the inconveniences faced by the women tea workers of village, Lebong. The daily schedule of tea workers like performing multiple tasks at their respective tea gardens or tea factories are tried to give thrust here. The diversified tasks like tea leaves plucking, weeding, nurturing, column cutting, cleaning of drainages and miscellaneous factory work etc are important amongst those. This study was carried out in Lebong village of Darjeeling. The Lebong tea garden is taken to be considered as the field area. A total no of 42 women’s tea workers were selected through purpose sample techniques. The present research study intends to focus on analysis of demographic and socio-economic background of women tea workers along with diagnosis of major problem and prospect of this tea industry in said village.

Abstract:

Recent research on Heart Rate Variability (HRV) has proven that Poincare Plot is a powerful tool to mark Short Term and Long Term Heart Rate Variability. This study focuses a comprehensive characterization of HRV among the Tea Garden Workers of the Northern Hilly Regions of West Bengal. The characterization, as available from the data sets, projects the average values of SD1 characteristics, that is, Short Term HRV in females as 58.265ms and SD2 as 149.474. The SDRR shows a mean value of 87.298 with a standard deviation of 119.669 and the S Characterization as 16505.99 ms and Standard deviation of 45882.31 ms. The SDRR shows a mean value of 87.298 with a standard deviation of 119.669 and the S Characterization as 16505.99 ms and Standard deviation of 45882.31 ms. ApEn Characterization showed mean value of 0.961 and standard deviation of 0.274.

Wacław Płodowski went down in history as an outstanding teacher. Him as the member of contemporary Częstochowa elites are recalled, it to appear unusual, highly well-deserved for the development of Częstochowa. He was an unusually active worker for voluntary causes. He exercised duties of the chairman of the Częstochowa Circle of the Company of Teachers of secondary schools and Higher. Moreover for a few years he chaired the education office of a public library, committed himself to numerous works of the Company of supporting the Regional Culture. Henryk Sienkiewicz National in Częstochowa became an author and a junior secondary School. He implemented innovative methods of the work, and thanks to his treatments by the school came into existence: zoological and botanical tea garden, two orchestras: inflated and symphony, as well as two choirs: mixt up and male, and finally and first in the city scout team for them. of Walerian Łukasiński. What essential, the institution which he ordered was recognised too one from best in the country. W. Płodowski belonged to requiring and strict teachers. Yet his pupils remembered him as the person outstanding, given a creative mind, acting with the commitment, with passion and enthusiasm.

Abstract Beginning In The Early 1970s, the first Mennonite connections with Ireland were occasional, brief, and limited to a few people, mostly North Americans. Mennonite colleges sent groups to study literature and conflict; Mennonite scholars and administrators visited Ireland to speak and learn. While these visits were not designed to initiate Mennonite institutional involvement, one of them did have that unintended effect. In 1972, a group of Mennonite Board of Missions (MBM) workers meeting in Dublin accepted an invitation from the Belfast Bible College to speak on Mennonite themes, including peace witness. One of their more skeptical auditors was Mike Garde, a dynamic young Irishman from County Cork, who was doing a degree at the college. On reflection, however, Garde found himself persuaded by what he had heard, and he became increasingly and passionately committed to Mennonite perspectives. From then on, more and more Mennonite visitors met Garde, and from these visits and relationships and from reflection centered in the emerging London Mennonite Fellowship, a vision for Mennonite witness in Ireland began to emerge. This finally took concrete form when Garde returned to Dublin as an employee of MBM and the Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) in 1978. The next year, North American Mennonites Paul and Dawn Ruth Nelson joined Garde, and when my wife, Linda, and I and our baby daughter, Anna, followed in 1980, the initial team of Mennonite workers was complete.

The U.S. National Library of Medicine (NLM) exhibition known as Native Voices reflected Donald A.B. Lindberg M.D.’s keen and long-held desire to help improve public understanding of Native American health challenges and honor the culture, tradition, and healing ways of Native Peoples. A centerpiece of the exhibition was a large set of video interviews that Dr. Lindberg conducted with Native health and community leaders. Dr. Lindberg and his team engaged Native advisors in the exhibition development; sought Native input through Listening Circles, Tribal Consultations; and site visits, and made the video interviews accessible via interactive kiosks and iPads. For its time, this was state-of-the-art exhibition technology. The exhibition also included Native artifacts and art works to complement the videos, including a scale model of the iconic Hokule’a Native Hawaiian voyaging canoe, and a full-size Lummi Indian Healing Totem Pole. The totem journeyed across the U.S. prior to its installation next to the NLM herbal garden in Bethesda, MD. A traveling version of the exhibition visited more than 130 venues in 40 States across the U.S. The interview clips and other content are accessible on the exhibition website, and the full-length interviews are retained in the NLM permanent video collection.

Abstract: The main hypothesis of this paper is that in the image of the Open Hand it is possible to find the reconciliation between two significant themes of the symbolic universe engendered by Le Corbusier: instrumentality and detachment. The genesis of the Open Hand is therefore to be seen as grounded among his late 1940s plastic works, which notably display the gradual movement of certain elements of figuration toward an iconic role. The hand appears as a crucial theme to Le Corbusier. Unlike other themes that have been set as pictograms — as the meander, the solar journey of 24 hours, and the bull figure —, the hand will not find its definitive form until very late in the architect’s work. The hand’s “other” seems to be another image from his painting: the winged figure, half woman and half animal, that appears in a wall at the Pavillion Suisse (mural, 1948) and illustrates the cover of Poésie sur Alger (1951). The image suggests an alienation from the worldly experience and the tragedy represented by the historical time, related to the volatility of natural phenomena. These two figures seem to synthesize the two attitudes governing the work of Le Corbusier thereafter. It is in Le Poème de L’Angle Droit (1947-1953) that the core of the symbolic system of Le Corbusier is found. The duality achieves its final result in the figure of the Open Hand, elected as the synthesis of the entirety of his symbolic system. Resumen: La principal hipótesis de este trabajo es que en la imagen de la Mano Abierta es posible encontrar la reconciliación entre dos temas importantes del universo simbólico engendrada por Le Corbusier: instrumentalidad y el desapego. Por tanto, la génesis de la Mano Abierta es ser visto entre sus obras plásticas finales de 1940, que sobre todo muestran el movimiento gradual de ciertos elementos de la figuración hacia un papel icónico. La mano aparece como un tema crucial para Le Corbusier. A diferencia de otros temas que se han establecido como pictogramas - como el meandro, el viaje solar de 24 horas, y la figura del toro -, la mano no encontrará su forma definitiva hasta muy tarde en la obra del arquitecto. El "otro" parece ser una imagen de su pintura: la figura alada, mitad mujer y mitad animal, que aparece en el Pabellón Suisse (mural, 1948) e ilustra la portada de Poésie sur Alger (1951). La imagen sugiere una alienación de la experiencia mundana y la tragedia representada por el tiempo histórico, relacionado con la volatilidad de los fenómenos naturales. Estas dos figuras parecen sintetizar las dos actitudes que rigen la obra de Le Corbusier a partir de entonces. Es en Le Poème L'Angle Droit de (1947-1.953) que el núcleo del sistema simbólico de Le Corbusier se encuentra. Abstract: From a letter dated 1913 to W. Ritter in which he described the “erotic obsession” which had caused him to depict the statue of the Sleeping Ariadne in the gardens of Versailles as a scantily-clad odalisque in the painting entitled La Versailles du Grand Turc, up to his last graphic project of 1964 entitled “Nassaince du Minotaure II”, the “private mythology” of Le Corbusier’s works was dominated by Minoan-Cretan mythology, to the point that the bull symbol became the unifying principle of his entire pictorial, plastic and architectural work. Dozens of Le Corbusier’s architectural projects include the theme of the labyrinth. The “main ouverte” and Ariadne - la Licorne were intended to “join up” from afar Chandigarh with the Bhakra dam. For the dam Le Corbusier designed architectural elements and he planned to install a copy of the “Ariadne” sculpture, similar in size to the “open hand” at Chandigarh. The Chandigarh-Bhakra complex – the planned city and the hydroelectric infrastructure – was the realization of the global post-war reconstruction plan, an approach devised by Le Corbusier together with the UN’s CIAM, based on the model of the TVA, the New-Deal Federal Agency, which had planned the development of the most backward area in the States starting from hydropower generation. The story is encrypted on the back of the tabernacle at Ronchamp. Resumen: De una carta de fecha 1913 a W. Abstract:

Patient «C», 51 years old, works as an oncologist in a hospital, mostly night duties. Complaints of anxiety; reduced mood; hopelessness, “all is bad: health, work, family”; guilt; weakness; apathy, suicidal thoughts; sleep disturbance; chronic back pain; feeling of incomplete bladder emptying. He associates the complaints with high stress at work and with the fact that he does not have time to recover from night duty, with a sense of hopelessness due to his inability to help some patients. He was observed by an interdisciplinary team of specialists including a psychotherapist, a urologist and a neurologist. Diagnosis: Emotional burnout syndrome (Z 73.0), Mixed anxiety and depressive reaction (F 43.22), Neurogenic bladder weakness (N 31.2), Dorsopathy at lumbarsacral level (М 51.1). Prescription: alfuzosin (alfuprost, Vertex, Russia) 10 mg per 24 hours, 3 months; tolperison hydrochloride (mydocalm, GEDEON RICHTER, Plc., Hungary), per os 150 mg in the evening, for 1 month; psychotherapy in Erickson's hypnosis modality: 2 in-person sessions – “Resource Vase” and “Compassion meditation”, and 10 sessions of neuro audio modules (NAM): Psychosomatic Session, Good Memory, House Building, Bird Flight, Body Comfort Bird, Health Bridge, Diaphragmatic Breathing, Transformation, Garden, Circulation of Transformations, River of Desire, they were held daily or every other day. NAM was broadcast against the background of meditative music and sounds of nature. Methods of self-regulation of psycho-emotional state are recommended. One month later after the beginning of the treatment: the level of anxiety decreased from 16 till 6 points, the level of depression – from 12 till 5 points (HADS). Back pains dimineshed from 8 till 3 points according to Visual Analog scale, 55% residual urine. The patient noted a significant improvement in the background mood, a surge of energy, increased working capacity, improvement in the relations with his loved ones. Thus, the clinical effectiveness of inclusion in the treatment of comorbid patient of combined Erickson's psychotherapy with the predominant use of NAM has been demonstrated. This approach increases the availability of psychotherapy, reduces labour efforts of a therapist and financial burden on a patient. Пациент отметил значительное улучшение фона настроения, прилив сил, повысилась работоспособность, улучшились отношения с близкими. Таким образом, продемонстрирована клиническая эффективность включения в курс лечения коморбидного пациента комбинированной эриксоновской психотерапии с преимущественным использованием НАМ. Данный подход повышает доступность к психотерапии, сокращает трудозатраты врача-психотерапевта и финансовую нагрузку на пациента.

Résumé: Je m'intéresse, depuis le territoire du design, à l'intérêt que Le Corbusier porta pour le vêtement moderne, à partir d'une conférence de 1929 où la réforme du vêtement l'emporte à fonder son concept d' « équipement domestique » pour la « machine à habiter ». La richesse du modèle renvoie vers des écrits préalables, notamment sa théorie des "objets-membres artificiels" qui s'est trouvée soutenir une nouvelle définition « prothétique » du design, et par ailleurs des témoignages vécus plus intimes qui amènent un point de vue alternatif et dynamique sur la relation corporelle aux artefacts modernes. Au cœur des débats sur la place et le rôle de la machine industrielle, la position de Le Corbusier révèle sa complexité et sa singularité, qui s'éclaire grâce à des travaux et des concepts propres à l'époque, telle que la Rythmique et la phénoménologie du mouvement, les notions d'œuvre vivante, de sensation et de mesure. Cela emporte à esquisser une conception prothétique corbuséenne, paradoxale, offrant en retour d'enrichir la compréhension de cette idéologie encore très active, et aussi de contribuer à une théorie du vêtement en design, si frêle sur le sujet. Resumen: Me interesa, desde el territorio del diseño, el interés que Le Corbusier trajo a la prenda moderna, desde una conferencia de 1929 en que la reforma de la prenda le lleva a instaurar su concepto de "equipo del hogar" por la "máquina para vivir". La riqueza del modelo se refiere a los escritos anteriores, especialmente su teoría de la "extremidades objetos artificiales”, que se encontró sostener una nueva definición "prótesis" del diseño , y por otro lado, testimonios vividos más íntimos que conducen a un punto de vista alternativo y dinámico sobre relación cuerpo a los artefactos modernos. En el centro del debate sobre el lugar y el papel de la máquina industrial, la posición de Le Corbusier revela su complejidad y singularidad, que se ilumina gracias a las obras y los conceptos específicos de la época, tal como la Rítmica y la fenomenología de movimiento, las nociones de obras vivas, de sensación y de medida. Esto lleva a esbozar un diseño protésico corbuseano, paradójico, permitiendo a cambio enriquecer la comprensión de esta ideología que aun sigue muy activa, y también para contribuir a una teoría de la vestimenta en diseño, tan frágil sobre este tema. Abstract: I focus, from the territory of design, on the interest Le Corbusier brought to the modern garment, from a 1929 conference where the dressreform leads him to develop his concept of "équipement domestique" for the "machine à habiter". Richness of the model refers to prior writings, especially his theory of "objets-membres artificiels", which occured supporting a new "prosthetic" definition of design, and besides that, intimate testimonies that develop an alternative point of view, more dynamic, about body relationship to modern artefacts. At the heart of debates of the time about the place and role of industrial machinery, the position Le Corbusier holds reveals its complexity and uniqueness, which can be clarify through works and concepts specific of that time such as Eurythmics and the phenomenology of movement, notions of living work of art, sensation and measure. This encourages suggest a Corbusean, paradoxical, prosthetic design, allowing in return enrich the understanding of this ideology still very active, and also to contribute to a theory of dress in design, so slight on this subject.
