Abstract:
On “Man ceaselessly seeks happiness”, a travel diary of an eco-theologian Tatiana Goricheva The author faces the main task of a comprehensive – to its possible extent – overview of Man ceaselessly seeks happiness. He approaches the text from the perspective of its genre and the subject matter. By taking into consideration the main thought behind the title of the book, he examines what the search for happiness means to the writer. The notions of poetics intersect with remarks on the essay-like narration of the diary, in which the writer shares her thoughts on religions and cultures of the West, the East, South Asia, Russian migrants scattered around the world, the contemporary state of the Church and Christians in Europe and outside it, individual and collective ways of searching for God or human approach towards animals. The author reaches a conclusion that “Man ceaselessly seeks happiness” is not a traditional travel diary and Tatiana Goricheva’s musings present a deeply individual outlook on the notions of Christianity and faith.

Abstract:
Chronos versus Thanatos in a post-apocalyptic world as presented in Tatyana Tolstaya’s The Slynx and Oleh Shynkarenko’s KaharlykThe article explores issues related to images and concepts used by the writers of dystopias imagining a post-apocalyptic world to diagnose the condition of their national communities. The author discusses, among other things, the means of presenting time such as metaphors of looping or stopping time, which help construct the messages conveyed in the novels. Particular attention is paid to the contrast between Chronos and Thanatos — figures representing time and death, which are widely used in culture. In the analyzed novels, this contrast, which is characteristic of post-Enlightenment secular consciousness, is reflected in the creation of an antithesis between the historic and the archaic.

Did Tatian write his gospel in Greek or Syriac? Treatments of this most beleaguered crux in Diatessaronic studies have largely depended on a now defunct approach to the source material. The ‘New Perspective’ on Tatian's Diatessaron wants for a new study of this old question. A problematic arrangement of textual data at Luke 19.4 offers unrecognised evidence that Tatian composed in Greek – namely, contradictory testimonia to the Syriac word for Zacchaeus’ ‘sycamore’ in Tatian's gospel reflect different etymological translations of a distinctive, Greek textual variant.

Abstract:
The Synoptics narrate a single Passover during Jesus’ ministry, whereas John's Gospel spans three Passovers. The Diatessaron harmonised the Four Gospels, but previous scholarship has misapprehended Tatian's chronology of Jesus’ ministry. The Diatessaron included all the Johannine festivals, but Tatian rearranged the order of events. Distinctively resolving a significant disagreement between John and the Synoptics, Tatian innovated a narrative sequence wherein Jesus’ temple disruption occurs at the second of three Passovers.

Abstract:
W twórczości Romany Kaszczyc – artystki przyrody, pogranicza, peryferii, ziemi zachodniopomorskiej i lubuskiej, Puszczy Barlineckiej – w perspektywie sąsiedztwa, współzależności i różnorodności, status granicy traci swoje ontologiczne znaczenie. Abstract:
“Between absence and loss”. Trauma of siege of Leningrad and its echoes literary works by Natalia Krandiyevska-Tolstaya, Tatyana and Natalia TolstayaThere is no denying that the contemporarily revealed truth about the siege of Leningrad is fitted in, citing Dominick LaCapra findings, two coupled terms, i.e. absence and loss. The tension between them concerns not only the witnesses, but also the next generations, which try to recover the memory on behalf of their loved ones. The category of postmemory created by Marianne Hirsch will be employed as a base to the specificity of the reception and presentation of “inherited experience” of the siege by the representatives of third generation. Literary works by Tatyana Tolstaya and her sister Natalia will be analyzed, where, as it turns out, the echoes of the siege sound not accidentally; the background is created by the oeuvre and attitude of their grandmother, Natalia Krandiyevska-Tolstaya. What does this remarkable literary cross-generational relation bring? Is it only an expression of memory, or maybe it is an attempt to confront traumatic events of the past? One thing goes without saying: the presence of the siege in the works of postmemory is a proof of inexhaustibleness, but mostly of not dealing with, not settling up this experience not only in the life of particular families but, most of all, within Russian literature.„Между отсутвием и утратой”.

Abstract:
This review was written in response to the publication of a collection of research articles dedicated to Tatiana V. Shmelyova’s anniversary. Therefore, all articles included in the collection “Increment of Meaning” are related to one of the leading Russian studies researchers of our time, her scientific interests and studies, among which are syntax, philology, speech genres, onomastics, media linguistics, history of science, and key words of the present moment. This review describes and analyses the research articles and reports included in the collection, describes the structure and contents of the publication, identifies the most distinct tendencies in the study of language. Some of the Tatiana V. Shmelyova’s original texts are mentioned as a favourable feature of the collection – the keynote speech at the VI International Russian Language Researchers Congress which opens the collection “Increment of Meaning”, as well as an interview with Tatiana V. Shmelyova which shows her personality as a Scientist, Teacher and Person. The unique thematic and compositional structure of the collection is especially noteworthy–the fact that along with Tatiana V. Shmelyova’s original texts there are also articles written by her colleagues, students and friends gives it a dialogic quality rarely seen in research papers, creates an impression of an unhurried conversation full of discussions about science and, at the same time, full of memories of days/months/years spent together that have inspired each of the participants of the “dialogue” to actively pursue their research and creative work. This dialogic quality is found in the form of other people’s numerous opinions and impressions of Tatiana V. Shmelyova and their experience of working with her which are present in almost every article in the collection (this review contains their quotations) as well as in a more concentrated form in the final section “Materials and Accounts”. The collection “Increment of Meaning” is not only an important research resource for specialists in the Russian language and modern linguistics, but also an invaluable source of information about Tatiana V. Shmelyova as a Person.

Abstract:
Abstract Tatian’s Oration to the Greeks (or.) contains a list of twelve ancient Greek philosophers whom Tatian berates for their arrogant stupidity (or. 2.1-3.7). In this list can be found a brief note (or. 3.6) in which Tatian singles out the Cynic Crates of Thebes (ca. 368/5-ca. 288/5 BC) and asks who would want to be a witness at his “dog-marriage” (κυνογαµία) or not reject the arrogant “tongue-madness” (γλωσσοµανία) “of people like him” rather than “seeking that which is truly worth pursuing.” This paper aims at contributing to an improved understanding of this sentence and in particular of the two words, κυνογαµία and γλωσσοµανία. For this purpose it looks 1) at Crates’ background, in particular his marriage with Hipparchia of Maroneia, and 2) at the wider context in which Tatian is writing, in particular the phenomenon of early Christian ecstatic prophecy personified by the leading Montanist women prophets Priscilla and Maximilla.

Abstract In his Oratio ad Graecos Tatian claims to have seen Sappho’s statue among a number of other female figures in Rome, which, according to a passage in Pliny the Elder, seem to have been in the Portico of Pompey. This article examines how difficulties in the scholarly reception of Tatian’s Oratio ad Graecos continue to obstruct a fuller picture of the role of female figures such as Sappho in late Republican and Augustan Rome. Furthermore, by bringing fresh archaeological evidence into the discussion of Tatian’s text and pointing out previously ignored philological connections between Oratio ad Graecos and late Republican and Augustan literature, the article refines the image of a woman like Sappho in Ancient Rome.

Abstract:
Among those texts that vied for a position as authoritative Scripture, but were eventually rejected by ecclesiastical authorities, was the so-called Diatessaron of Tatian. Having been compiled from the four canonical gospels, Tatian's work occupies a liminal position between the categories of ‘canonical’ and ‘apocryphal’, since the majority of its content was common to users of the fourfold gospel, though this content existed in a radically altered form and was tainted by association with an author widely accused of heresy. In order to demonstrate the originality of Tatian's gospel composition, this article gives a close reading of the only surviving Greek witness to it, a fragment of parchment found in excavations at Dura-Europos. Dura's very location as a borderland between Rome and Persia corresponds with the fact that in this outpost garrison city Christians were using a gospel text that would have appeared markedly strange to those in the mainstream of the Christian tradition. The wording that can be recovered from the Dura fragment shows how Tatian creatively and intelligently combined the text of the four gospels to produce a new narrative of the life of Jesus, choosing to leave out certain elements and to make deliberate emendations along the way. However, it was precisely such originality that made his gospel appear problematic, so in order to rescue his text from censure, later scribes had to domesticate it by making it conform throughout to the canonical versions. Comparison of the Dura fragment with the medieval Arabic gospel harmony and with the Latin version in Codex Fuldensis illustrates well this process whereby Tatian's gospel went from being a rival to the fourfold gospel to a designedly secondary, and therefore acceptable, work.

Abstract:
Abstract This article considers the construction of the speaking subject in Justin’s First Apology and Tatian’s To the Greeks, two interlocking texts (often associated with the problematic genre of Christian apologetics). Bracketing questions of biographical reality, it explores the fictionalising techniques Justin and Tatian adopt to magnify their own authority, co-opt well-known narrative models (including martyrologies and imitatio Christi) in the service of their own self-fashioning. I take their autobiographies as stylised self-dramatisations, rather than guides to historical realities. There are strong parallels with the kind of self-modelling that we see in the works of pagan sophists of the era, notably Dio Chrysostom. Reading these two authors in this way blurs the sharp distinctions they seek to draw between Christian and pagan. It also requires a reading of their texts, in line with recent scholarship, as generically complex, sophisticated and absorbent, and open to the opportunistic appropriation of elements characteristic of pagan literature of the era. Foucault has argued that the voice of early Christianity was characterised by its confessional quality, which was new, confident and distinctive; this article argues, by contrast, that Justin and Tatian at any rate were intellectual bricoleurs and experimentalists, and had much more in common with their pagan peers.

Abstract:
This article examines the early Christian critique of astrology, focusing on its perceived conflict with the concept of free will. Key figures such as Origen, Tatian, and Bardesanes are highlighted for their contributions to this discourse. Origen's works, including his homilies and commentaries on the book of Genesis, notably oppose the deterministic implications of astrology by asserting human free will and divine omnipotence. Tatian's writings, particularly his "Oratio ad Graecos," condemn astrology as a demonic invention that undermines Christian doctrines. Bardesanes, who is well-informed in astrology, differentiates between cosmic influences and moral decisions, arguing that ethical behavior is not determined by the stars. The article also explores the theological and philosophical foundations of these arguments, tracing influences from earlier thinkers like Philo of Alexandria and Carneades. Overall, the text provides a comprehensive analysis of how early Christian writers engaged with and refuted astrological beliefs.

Abstract:
AbstractIn addition to inflecting adjectives for case, number, and gender, the early Germanic languages inflect adjectives as either strong or weak. Scholarly consensus is lacking regarding what triggers this fourth inflectional category, i.e. why an adjective surfaces as either strong or weak. While the traditional school of thought held that weak adjectives surface with definite determiners, some recent scholarship has argued that a semantic force such as definiteness or classification is responsible. To evaluate the two positions, I compared attributive adjectives in the Old High German translation of Tatian’s Diatessaron with the corresponding passages in Gothic and Old English. The conclusion supports the traditional school of thought that determiners trigger weak adjectives and refutes the idea that semantics is primarily responsible for whether an adjective surfaces as strong or weak.

Abstract:

MARQUES, B. C. D.; CUNHA, V. T.; CUNHA, V. T.; SILVA, K. B.; BATISTA, R. O.DRIPPERS PERFORMANCE OPERATING WITH DAIRY WASTEWATER IN LABORATORY SCALE 2 ABSTRACT Environmental degradation and water scarcity in the semiarid region are factors that contribute to the use of wastewater in agriculture. This study aimed to monitor the flow rate and the distribution uniformity coefficient (CUD) of irrigation units in five types of drippers (G1 = 1.6 L h-1, G2 = 2.0 L h-1, G3 = 2.0 L h-1, G4 = 1.70 L h-1 and G5 = 2.0 L h-1) applying wastewater dairy, as well as the physicochemical and microbiological characteristics of the effluent, that represented risk of obstruction. Monitoring of the dairy wastewater quality was performed every 40 h, simultaneously with the determination of the emitter flow rate and CUD, totaling six samples until the end of the experimental trials, in 200 h of operating time. The dripper G2 was the most susceptible to clogging with treated dairy wastewater, while the drip G5 was the most resistant to clogging. Solid suspended, dissolved solids, iron, manganese, calcium and presence of microorganisms interfered directly on flow rate and CUD of irrigation units that operated with treated dairy effluent. Keywords: emitters, effluent, clogging.

Abstract:
The article, dedicated to the anniversary of the prominent Russian literary scholar, philologist, philosopher, and educator, Tatiana A. Kasatkina, represents an overview on the sidelines of her theoretical and historical-literary works. Since the 1990s, Tatiana Kasatkina has engaged in a dispute with “positivism” in philology, defending the rights of literary scholars to religious thinking and demonstrating its significance for the humanities. The controversy over “religious philology” sparked by her book was resolved in practice: Tatiana Kasatkina’s creative work, dedicated to the status of words in Dostoevsky’s artistic world, the structure of the image, the author’s position, problems of reading, and perceiving his works, demonstrated the productivity of her "from-subject-to-subject" method of research and understanding of the text. Tatiana Kasatkina showed that Dostoevsky’s artistic method, which he defined as “realism in the highest sense,” is based on a religious worldview and implies the inseparability of the image and the Archetype.

Abstract:
The main attention in the article is paid to the peculiarities of the interpretation of the image of Tatiana Larina in Chinese Pushkin studies from 1978 to 2010. The article discusses various works of Chinese interpreters dedicated to the image of Tatiana. Based on the analysis of extensive material, an attempt is made to summarize the main features of the interpretation of Pushkin's heroine in China. The comparative-historical approach, methods of generalization, interpretation of the results were used in the study. In modern Pushkin studies, a lot of attention has been paid to the perception of A. S. Pushkin's work outside the homeland, especially in China, to a greater extent it concerns translation interpretation. And the analysis of Chinese literary works about a particular character — in this work about Tatiana Larina — is carried out for the first time. The scientific novelty of the study lies in the small knowledge of the problem of interpreting the image of Tatiana in China. In the course of the work, the peculiarities of the interpretation of the image of Tatiana in China were revealed — the fascination with the assessment of Tatiana's moral qualities, and at the same time — the neglect of the artistic nature of the Pushkin heroine. The results of the study contribute to the study of the image of Tatiana in Chinese Pushkin studies, and also contribute to a deep understanding of the image of the Russian woman in China. In addition, its results and conclusions can also be used in the study of intercultural relations between China and Russia, the study of the reception of Russian literature in China.
