Abstract:
On “Man ceaselessly seeks happiness”, a travel diary of an eco-theologian Tatiana Goricheva The author faces the main task of a comprehensive – to its possible extent – overview of Man ceaselessly seeks happiness. He approaches the text from the perspective of its genre and the subject matter. By taking into consideration the main thought behind the title of the book, he examines what the search for happiness means to the writer. The notions of poetics intersect with remarks on the essay-like narration of the diary, in which the writer shares her thoughts on religions and cultures of the West, the East, South Asia, Russian migrants scattered around the world, the contemporary state of the Church and Christians in Europe and outside it, individual and collective ways of searching for God or human approach towards animals. The author reaches a conclusion that “Man ceaselessly seeks happiness” is not a traditional travel diary and Tatiana Goricheva’s musings present a deeply individual outlook on the notions of Christianity and faith.

Abstract:
Chronos versus Thanatos in a post-apocalyptic world as presented in Tatyana Tolstaya’s The Slynx and Oleh Shynkarenko’s KaharlykThe article explores issues related to images and concepts used by the writers of dystopias imagining a post-apocalyptic world to diagnose the condition of their national communities. The author discusses, among other things, the means of presenting time such as metaphors of looping or stopping time, which help construct the messages conveyed in the novels. Particular attention is paid to the contrast between Chronos and Thanatos — figures representing time and death, which are widely used in culture. In the analyzed novels, this contrast, which is characteristic of post-Enlightenment secular consciousness, is reflected in the creation of an antithesis between the historic and the archaic.

Abstract:
Did Tatian write his gospel in Greek or Syriac? Treatments of this most beleaguered crux in Diatessaronic studies have largely depended on a now defunct approach to the source material. The ‘New Perspective’ on Tatian's Diatessaron wants for a new study of this old question. A problematic arrangement of textual data at Luke 19.4 offers unrecognised evidence that Tatian composed in Greek – namely, contradictory testimonia to the Syriac word for Zacchaeus’ ‘sycamore’ in Tatian's gospel reflect different etymological translations of a distinctive, Greek textual variant.

Abstract:
The Synoptics narrate a single Passover during Jesus’ ministry, whereas John's Gospel spans three Passovers. The Diatessaron harmonised the Four Gospels, but previous scholarship has misapprehended Tatian's chronology of Jesus’ ministry. The Diatessaron included all the Johannine festivals, but Tatian rearranged the order of events. Distinctively resolving a significant disagreement between John and the Synoptics, Tatian innovated a narrative sequence wherein Jesus’ temple disruption occurs at the second of three Passovers.

Abstract:
Pushkin's Tatiana tends to be pigeonholed by criticism that acknowledges her dynamism and openness to creative possibilities but restricts her intertextual significance to the heroines of the European novelists she herself reads. I argue that only by viewing her as the construction of a narrator who relies heavily on the stylistics of Karamzin and Zhukovsky can Tatiana be pulled out of such narrow confines. By tracing the thread of these Russian texts in the novel in verse, I will show that they often beg comparison not with their predecessors' heroines but with their male counterparts. Tatiana’s ambiguous characterization when read in conjunction with "Domik v Kolomne" (1830) shows the explicit gender parodies that Onegin only hints at. Using this text, I will ultimately consider Tatiana as an example of the ambivalence of Pushkin's heroine-muse in relation to his own participation in the ‘ballad question’ of the early 19th century.

Each artist has a gesture that remains with him or her in his or her production, as a way to create, like something that recurs as a unique combination of obstinacy and premeditation which is regular in his or her work. This dissertation has the objective of recognizing the singularity of the artistic gestures of the Brazilian artist Tatiana Blass (São Paulo, 1979). In the first chapter, it considers the decadence and downfall through wax resource as sculptural material, marking some persistence in the animal representation before the human being. In the second chapter, it approaches the presence and the absence of the word, highlighting the production of speeches and silences in her videos and works with biplane support. In the third chapter, it reflects about the metamorphosis and phantasmagoria of the shapes and matters that turn into her aintings and sculptures. The persistent and insistent gesture in the universe of this artist consists of the deconstruction of the shape and the objects to an afterthought building of the work of art.

Abstract:

The subject for the present project is to contribute for the history of the Social Psychology in Brazil showing that Silvia Tatiana Maurer Lane (1933-2006) has an important contribution for the theoretical propositions concerning the Brazilian social psychology that was adopted for other social psychologists, professors and social scientists. To work as a professor has a key influence for Silvia s thoughts and ideas. She has often been criticism of the psychology with American influence, as well as in relation to the classic methods of teaching in Brazil. The PUC-SP institution where she works for forty years provides her a freedom and an open environment that enhance her way. In order to study Silvia s publications and live had been used personal documents, books, interviews and biographies made by other authors. The personal documents found in the Núcleo de Estudos em História da Psicologia-NEHPSI give us an important contribution for our conclusions and show her strong image as a professor and scientist in Brazil and abroad. The analysis of Silvia s productions demonstrates a strong relationship among the socio historic environment and her ideas over the course of lifetime work. In order to analyze Silvia s thoughts and ideas has a key importance a non-edit text named My way wrote before her death with the intention to prepare a book with a collection of writings published or not, which ones was difficult to achieve. This text allows us to understand the structure given by her to her own thoughts. We discovered that the language psychology, the theoretical bases for a Brazilian social psychology, the community psychology, the studies concerning the process to become a group and the emotional mediation, represents subjects that have been present throughout the course of her life s generating researches, texts, courses and presentations. Time pass and new views and considerations have been added to these themes. The work was not finished before her death living space for other texts and studies in future

This paper focuses on the works of fiction writer Tatiana Salem Levy. In the works studied, is remarkable the tendency life has to calamity, constantly heralded by natural disasters, pointing out to its inevitability. In contrast, there is also a restoring ability which comes from tiny cracks from the chaos described in the stories. In this tension, the characters lose their references and need to re-establish themselves in some way to feel again integrated, fulfilled with life. Another intriguing issue is the constant possibility of identifying these characters, since in most cases they do not have names and are unknown to the readers. It is difficult to establish the reason for this lack of identity, whether it was motivated by the loss, or loss only confirms the feeling of emptiness and lack of identity features striking. As the subject are full of gaps, the reality is absorbed into pieces, fragments collected and saved as an outline and vague ideal of reality to which they belong or believe to belong. These fragments are monuments of the allegorical significance that determine the passage of time and the decomposition of its elements to the detriment of the confirmation of durability of fixed identity. Writing thus becomes the ideal place to the replace the subjects into society, specially to the ones they believe to have lost. The objective of this work is to establish standards of behaviour from the actions of the characters through which they aim to rebuild their personalities. The structural pillars of my argument, are: losses, names, places and speeches.

Abstract:
This chapter examines the work of Tatian (Tatianus), whose apologetic document has many of the same goals as that of his mentor, Justin the Martyr, except that Tatian’s final product is shorter and blunter, and vehemently argues that the “men of Greece” possess no originality and their very claim to being philosophers is manifestly false. Tatian’s style is surely more acidic than his mentor’s, but it is inaccurate to depict Justin as a “negotiator,” while designating Tatian as the combative confrontationist with the aim of presenting a general condemnation of Greek culture.

Abstract:
This chapter elucidates the overarching structure of Tatian’s Diatessaron. The four separate Gospels differ among themselves in countless ways. To narrate Jesus’s ministry, Tatian incorporated all the Jewish festivals from the Gospel of John, but he rearranged the order of the feasts and the events surrounding them. Tatian’s narrative chronology has gone unrecognized in previous scholarship, because Ephrem’s commentary—albeit a key witness to the Diatessaron—suppressed most of the references to Jewish feasts. Besides the Diatessaron’s innovative chronology, Tatian often grouped characters and episodes thematically when rearranging the contents of the fourfold gospel. The Arabic harmony is the single best witness to the Diatessaron’s narrative sequence.

Abstract:

DiDomizio, Matthew, and Jonathan Butta. Measurement of Heat Transfer and Fire Damage Patterns on Walls for Fire Model Validation. UL Research Institutes, July 2024. http://dx.doi.org/10.54206/102376/hnkr9109.

Full text
Abstract:
Fire models are presently employed by fire investigators to make predictions of fire dynamics within structures. Predictions include the evolution of gas temperatures and velocities, smoke movement, fire growth and spread, and thermal exposures to surrounding objects, such as walls. Heat flux varies spatially over exposed walls based on the complex thermal interactions within the fire environment, and is the driving factor for thermally induced fire damage. A fire model predicts the temperature and heat transfer through walls based on field predictions, such as radiative and convective heat flux, and is also subject to the boundary condition represen-tation, which is at the discretion of model practitioners. At the time of writing, Fire Dynamics Simulator can represent in-depth heat transfer through walls, and transverse heat transfer is in a preliminary development stage. Critically, limited suitable data exists for validation of heat trans-fer through walls exposed to fires. Mass loss and discoloration fire effects are directly related to the heat transfer and thermal decomposition of walls, therefore it is crucial that the representation of transverse heat transfer in walls in fire models be validated to ensure that fire investigators can produce accurate simulations and reconstructions with these tools. The purpose of this study was to conduct a series of experiments to obtain data that addresses three validation spaces: 1) thermal exposure to walls from fires; 2) heat transfer within walls exposed to fires; and 3) fire damage patterns arising on walls exposed to fires. Fire Safety Research Institute, part of UL Research Institutes, in collaboration with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives Fire Research Laboratory, led this novel research endeavor. Experiments were performed on three types of walls to address the needs in this validation space: 1. Steel sheet (304 stainless steel, 0.793 mm thick, coated in high-emissivity high-temperature paint on both sides). This wall type was used to support the heat flux validation objective. By combining measurements of gas temperatures near the wall with surface temperatures obtained using infrared thermography, estimates of the incident heat flux to the wall were produced. 2. Calcium silicate board (BNZ Marinite I, 12.7 mm thick). This wall type was used to support the heat transfer validation objective. Since calcium silicate board is a noncombustible material with well-characterized thermophysical properties at elevated temperatures, measurements of surface temperature may be used to validate transverse heat transfer in a fire model without the need to account for a decomposition mechanism. 3. Gypsum wallboard (USG Sheetrock Ultralight, 12.7 mm thick, coated in white latex paint on the exposed side). This wall type was used to support the fire damage patterns validation objective. Two types of fire effects were considered: 1) discoloration and charring of the painted paper facing of the gypsum wallboard; and 2) mass loss of the gypsum wallboard (which is related to the calcination of the core material). In addition to temperature and heat flux measurements, high resolution photographs of fire patterns were recorded, and mass loss over the entirety of the wall was measured by cutting the wall into smaller samples and measuring the mass of each individual sample. A total of 63 experiments were conducted, encompassing seven fire sources and three wall types (each combination conducted in triplicate). Fire sources included a natural gas burner, gasoline and heptane pools, wood cribs, and upholstered furniture. A methodology was developed for obtaining estimates of field heat flux to a wall using a large plate heat flux sensor. This included a numerical optimization scheme to account for convection heat transfer. These data characterized the incident heat flux received by calcium silicate board and gypsum wallboard in subsequent experiments. Fire damage patterns on the gypsum wallboard, attributed to discoloration and mass loss fire effects, were measured. It was found that heat flux and mass loss fields were similar for a given fire type, but the relationship between these measurements was not consistent across all fire types. Therefore, it was concluded that cumulative heat flux does not adequately describe the mass loss fire effect. Fire damage patterns attributed to the discoloration fire effect were defined as the line of demarcation separating charred and uncharred regions of the wall. It was found that the average values of cumulative heat flux and mass loss ratio coinciding with the fire damage patterns were 10.41 ± 1.51 MJ m−2 and 14.86 ± 2.08 %, respectively. These damage metrics may have utility in predicting char delineation damage patterns in gypsum wallboard using a fire model, with the mass loss ratio metric being overall the best fit over all exposures considered. The dataset produced in this study has been published to a public repository, and may be accessed from the following URL: <https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.10543089>.
