Abstract:

Abstract:
The North Indian dhol-tasha drumming tradition was spread globally by the British indentureship system, which began in the 1830s and sent millions of men, women, and children to work in agricultural and industrial colonies around the world. While distinct dhol-tasha variants emerged in many places where indentured laborers settled, the most vibrant of these is tassa drumming in the southern Caribbean country of Trinidad and Tobago. While maintaining obvious and measurable links with its Indian forebears, tassa has undergone significant transformations in instrument construction, repertoire and performance practice. The essay concludes by arguing that such innovations suggest tassa is not a mere example of cultural survival, but a dynamic art form grounded in a distinct Indian aesthetic yet also thoroughly Caribbean in its diasporic creativity.

The classification of the quality of palm oil in PT Tasma Puja is still done by laboratory testing and then the data is saved manually in Excel. The method of grouping takes time and allows data to be lost. With the development of knowledge, it can be replaced by a data mining approach that can be used to classify the quality of palm oil based on its standards. The k-Means clustering method can be applied to classify the quality of palm oil based on water, dirt and free fatty acids. The data used is the quality data of palm oil in December 2017 as many as 31 data with criteria of good, very good and not good. The test results contained 3 clusters, namely cluster 0 for good categories amounted to 12 data, cluster 1 for very good category amounted to 13 data and cluster 2 for less good categories amounted to 6 data. The k-Means clustering method can be used for data processing using the concept of data mining in grouping data according to criteria.

Abstract:
Nowadays, static power consumption in chip multiprocessor (CMP) is the most crucial concern of chip designers. Power-gating is an effective approach to mitigate static power consumption particularly in low utilization. Network-on-Chip (NoC) as the backbone of multi- and many-core chips has no exception. Previous state-of-the-art techniques in power-gating desire to decrease static power consumption alongside the lack of diminution in performance of NoC. However, maintaining the performance and utilization of the power-gating approach has not yet been addressed very well. In this article, we propose TAMA (Turn-Aware Mapping & Architecture) as an effective method to boost the performance of the TooT method that was only powering on a router during turning pass or packet injection. In other words, in the TooT method, straight and eject packets pass the router via a bypass route without powering on the router. By employing meta-heuristic approaches (Genetic and Ant Colony algorithms), we develop a specific application mapping that attempts to decrease the number of turns through interconnection networks. Accordingly, the average latency of packet transmission decreases due to fewer turns. Also, by powering on turn routers in advance with lightweight hardware, the latency of sending packets diminishes. The experimental results demonstrate that our proposed approach, i.e., TAMA achieves more than 13% reduction in packet latency of NoC in comparison with TooT. Besides the packet latency, the power consumption of TAMA is reduced by about 87% compared to the traditional approach.

Genetic Mapping of SSR Markers in Eight Soybean
Chromosomes Based on F2 Population B3462 x B3293. I
Made Tasma, Ahmad Warsun, Dani Satyawan, Saptowo
J. Pardal, and Slamet. Aluminum toxicity is one of the main
contrains for cultivating soybean in acid soils. Genetic
Hak Cipta © 2011, BB-Biogen
mapping of SSR markers is one step for detecting aluminumtoxicity
tolerant QTLs in soybean. Another step is to
phenotype the same population at various aluminum-toxicity
environments. The objectives of this study were to analyze
the segregation of SSR markers in progenies of an F2
population and map the markers in 8 soybean chromosomes.
The F2 population was previously developed by
crossing the Al-tolerant parent B3462 and the Al-sensitive
parent B3293. Polymorphic SSR markers in the parents were
used to PCR amplify DNA of the 100 F2 progenies. PCR
products were separated using agarose or polyacrylamide
gels. A Chi-Square test was done with a null hypothesis that
progenies segregated in a 1 : 2 : 1 ratio. Results showed that
125 SSR markers were polymorphics in the parents. Out of
125 polymorphic markers, 122 were segregated in the
progenies of the F2 population. Among the segregating
markers, 114 were segregated in a 1 : 2 : 1 ratio. Only 8
markers (5.6%) did not follow the 1 : 2 : 1 ratio. One hundred
and nineteen SSR markers were mapped in 8 soybean
chromosomes. These include 18 markers in chromosome
A2, 10 in B1, 16 (C1), 16 (F), 10 (G), 23 (J), 16 (L), and 10 (N).
Total genetic maps covered was 1,194.8 cM with average
map distances between two adjacent markers of 10.7 cM.
Further SSR marker enrichment is required to fill in the gaps
of several chromosomal regions. Genetic maps presented in
this study should be useful for detection of Al-toxicity
tolerant QTLs in soybean.

Abstract:

Gene duplication to reveal adaptation clue of plant to environmental stress: A case study of NBS-LRR genes in soybean. Puji Lestari, Suk-Ha Lee, I Made Tasma, and Asadi. Adaptive strategies of plant to stress are fine-tuned by adjusting several activities including molecular mechanism which involve duplicated genes responsive to environmental changes. Genes responsive to the environmental stresses which are retained after small scale duplication are part of plant genome duplication. However, less information of duplicated genes could be adaptive to environmental changes in plant. This review presents an overview of duplication events in plant genomes which impact to gene duplication in relation to environmental changes, gene duplication as an adaptation mechanism, a case of duplicated nucleotide binding site-leucine-rich repeat (NBS-LRR) genes in soybean, and the gene duplication implementation for plant breeding in Indonesia. Notably, genome duplication events generate gene duplication and contribute to adaptive evolution against environmental changes. Generalization of plants to adapt the stressful conditions also probably improves our understanding of gene duplication as a mechanism of adaptation. Several recently duplicated NBS-LRR genes in soybean retain disease resistance QTL and the differential expression convince their contribution to biotic stress resistance in soybean. Proposed models of NBS-LRR genes duplication process may help to understand these genes response to the environmental changes. The duplication of genes resistant to pest/disease particularly NBS-LRR provides important information to select breeding parents and develop molecular markers related to desease resistance to genetically improve soybean in Indonesia. Overall, it may therefore be possible to enhance breeding which targets on genes tolerance/resistance to abiotic/biotic stress, and provide a molecular basis for crop-stress protection strategy and more improved soybean varieties specified for harsh environment.

Abstract:
Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to investigate price discovery for cross-listed stocks on the New Zealand Exchange (NZX) and the Australian Stock Exchange (ASX) and find out the determinants of price discovery between the two markets. Design/methodology/approach – Gonzalo Granger Component Shares and Hasbrouck Information Shares were estimated annually for a sample of 19 cross-listed stocks between 1998 and 2012. Then dynamic panel regressions were used to investigate the driving factors behind price discovery between the NZX and ASX. Findings – Strong downward trends were observed in the contribution to price discovery of the NZX, both for New Zealand firms cross-listing on the ASX and Australian firms cross-listing on the NZX. While in the early years in our sample period, price discovery is dominated by the home market, by 2012, 50 per cent of price discovery for New Zealand firms takes place on the ASX, and the NZX acts as a satellite market for Australian firms. It was also observed that the NZX share of trading activity has a strong positive effect on the NZX level of price discovery, while there is a negative relationship with relative bid–ask spreads. Practical implications – Results suggest that the importance of the NZX relative to the ASX with regards to price discovery is decreasing over time. Given the importance of price discovery for exchanges, such a finding is concerning for the NZX. The determinants of price discovery found in the paper, such as relative volume and spreads, do, however, offer some guidance on how the NZX could regain price discovery. Originality/value – This paper offers a longer and broader analysis of price discovery between the NZX and ASX, two highly integrated markets, and extends previous work by exploring the drivers of price discovery in a panel setting.

Genetic Diversity Analysis of Jatropha Curcas
Provenances Using Randomly Amplified Polymorphic
DNA Markers. Dani Satyawan and I Made Tasma.
Jatropha curcas nuts are rich in oil that is higly suitable for
Hak Cipta © 2011, BB-Biogen
the production of bio-diesel or to be used directly in
modified diesel engines. The objective of this study was to
assess the extent of genetic diversity among 50 J. curcas
provenances and one accession of J. integerrima using
RAPD markers. The fifty J. curcas provenances were
collected from ecologically diverse regions of Indonesia, and
planted in the Pakuwon Experimental Station (Sukabumi,
West Java). Fourteen RAPD primers with 60-80% G+C
content were used in this genetic diversity analysis and
produced 64 bands with 95.7% polymorphism level. The
Polymerase Chain Reactions used to generate the RAPD
bands sometimes produced inconsistent and nonreproducible
results, necessitating the duplication of each
reaction to prevent scoring errors. Sixty one validated bands
were subsequently used for genetic diversity analysis using
Unweighted Pair Group Method Arithmetic (UPGMA)
method and Dice coefficients. It was shown that the
similarity coefficients among the provenances ranged from
0.2 to 0.98 with an average similarity of 0.75. Dendrogram
analysis produced two major groups of provenances, with
one outlier from South Lampung. There was no tendency for
provenances originated from nearby regions to cluster
together in each group, and several provenances showed
more similarities with provenances originated from distant
regions. This pattern lent credence to reports that Jatropha
was introduced to Indonesia around four centuries ago and
was mainly spread by humans. Based on the mean
similarities among the accessions and their clustering
pattern, the genetic diversity of the Jatropha collection
appeared to be fairly low. Future additions of genetic
materials from more diverse genetic background will be
necessary to maintain the current progress of Jatropha
improvement program.

Abstract:
The publication contains translation with the commentary of the text of Taima mandara engi (History of the origin of the mandala of the Taima temple), which is placed on two illustrated scrolls stored in the Komyōji temple in Kamakura. The creation of the scrolls dates back to the 13th century. The text contains the legend about the emergence of the mandala, which depicts the Pure Land of Buddha Amida (Amitabha, Amitayus), kept in the Taima temple. The mandala illustrates one of the “three principal Pure Land sutras” – The Sutra on Contemplation of Amitaus. According to the legend, the mandala was created in response to the passionate desire of the daughter of Minister Yokohagi, who

Abstract:

Phylogenetic and Maturity Analyses of Sixty Soybean
Genotypes Used for DNA Marker Development of Early
Maturity Quantitative Trait Loci in Soybean. I Made
Tasma, Dani Satyawan, Ahmad Warsun, Muhamad
Yunus, and Budi Santosa. The Indonesian soybean
productivity is still very low with the national average of 1.3
t/ha. One means to improve national soybean productivity is
by manipulating harvest index by cultivating very early
maturing soybean cultivars. Development of early maturing
soybean cultivars can be expedited by using marker-aided
selection. The objective of this study was to select parental
lines having contrasted maturity traits and selected parents
must be genetically distance. The parents then were used to
develop F2 populations for detecting early maturity QTL in
soybean. Maturity tests of 60 soybean genotypes were
conducted at two locations, Cikeumeuh (Bogor) and Pacet
(Cianjur) using a randomized block design with three
replications. Genomic DNA of the 60 genotypes were
analyzed using 18 SSR markers and genetic relationship was
constructed using the Unweighted Pair-Group Method
Arithmatic through Numerical Taxonomy and Multivariate
System program version 2.1-pc. Results showed that the 60
genotypes demonstrated normal distribution in both
locations for days to R1 (32-48d), days to R3 (35-55d), days to
R7 (75-92d), and days to R8 (78-99d). Four early maturing
genotypes and three late genotypes were obtained. Total
SSR alleles observed were 237 with average allele per locus
of 12.6 (3-29), and average PIC value of 0.78 (0.55-0.89).
Genetic similarity among genotypes ranges from 74.8-95%.
At similarity level 77% divided the genotypes into six clusters
(the four selected early maturing genotypes located in
clusters III and IV, while the three late genotypes located in
cluster II). Based on maturity data, pubescent color, and
phygenetic analysis seven parents were selected (four early
maturing genotypes B1430, B2973, B3611, B4433 and three
late genotypes B1635, B1658, and B3570). Twelve F2
populations were developed with the aid of SSR markers
Satt300 dan Satt516. Two of the populations will be used to
develop DNA markers for earliness in soybean.
