Abstract:
The asset management sector is constantly looking for a reliable investment strategy, which is able to keep its promises. One of the most used approaches is the target volatility strategy that combines a risky asset with a risk-free trying to maintain the portfolio volatility constant over time. Several analyses highlight that such target is fulfilled on average, but in periods of crisis, the portfolio still suffers market’s turmoils. In this paper, the authors introduce an innovative target volatility strategy: the discontinuous target volatility. Such approach turns out to be more conservative in high volatility periods. Moreover, the authors compare the adoption of the VIX Index as a risk measure instead of the classical standard deviation and show whether the former is better than the latter. In the last section, the authors also extend the analysis to remove the risk-free assumption and to include the correlation structure between two risky assets. Empirical results on a wide time span show the capability of the new proposed strategy to enhance the portfolio performance in terms of standard measures and according to stochastic dominance theory.

Abstract:
Abstract This paper compares the strategies used by a group of English native speakers to develop competence in Japanese, a non-cognate language, and in a more familiar language, French. The participants were undergraduate students enrolled in both French and Japanese language courses. A verbal report procedure, the yoked subject technique, was used to gather data on strategy use by learners as they worked with target language materials. The data was analysed according to four dimensions of strategy use: metacognitive, cognitive, social and affective. The results indicated that the cognitive strategies learners used when learning Japanese diverged from those they used for learning French. The learning of Japanese was characterised by the use of repetition, writing out, and translation, with limited use of resourcing and no elaboration or inferencing strategies. The discussion of the results addresses the issue of the impact of language teaching methodology on cognitive strategy use, the effects of which cannot be readily separated from those of the structure of the target language.

Abstract:
Abstract This paper presents a systematization of translation strategies for key-phrase allusions, in the form of a hierarchical decision process. Actual translatorial practice in Finland, judging by seven translations of novels, favours the strategy of minimum change. This low-effort strategy is useful when allusions are transcultural, but will often lead to flat translations and loss of connotations in the case of unfamiliar allusions, even resulting in a failure to convey the message, as evidenced by reader responses. Adoption of a more creative and reader-oriented translatorial role would offer a wider variety of translation strategies and lead to a decrease of "culture bumps" in translations.

Abstract In order to analyze how "international messages" such as films are appropriated by a specific target system, I studied the French dubbed versions of a number of films. This analysis revealed a set of norms which seem to be at work on various text levels in the dubbed translations: a linguistic standardization, which affects three types of language use, a naturalization strategy, in which visual synchrony plays an important role, and a strategy which aims in various ways at making the translation more explicit than the original. The presentation of this tentative set of norms proposes a first synthetic view of the policy concerning dubbing in France.

Whether can seeker capture the ship target in target group is one of the important factors affect the anti-ship missile efficiency. By establishing the target capture probability models under various capture strategies and giving the Monte-Carlo simulation flow, this paper obtained the capture probability under various capture strategies by statistical methods. The result shows that because of the lack of comprehensive consideration of battlefield situation, the existing target capture strategies are difficult to finish the capture ship targets task efficiently; the result also indicates the target capture strategies direction.

Abstract:
Target identification is a crucial process for advancing natural products and drug leads development, which is often the most challenging and time-consuming step. However, the putative biological targets of natural products obtained from traditional prediction studies are also informatively redundant. Thus, how to precisely identify the target of natural products is still one of the major challenges. Given the shortcomings of current target identification methodologies, herein, a novel in silico docking and DARTS prediction strategy was proposed. Concretely, the possible molecular weight was detected by DARTS method through examining the protected band in SDS-PAGE. Then, the potential targets were obtained from screening and identification through the PharmMapper Server and TargetHunter method. In addition, the candidate target Src was further validated by surface plasmon resonance assay, and the anti-apoptosis effects of kaempferol against myocardial infarction were further confirmed by in vitro and in vivo assays. Collectively, these results demonstrated that the integrated strategy could efficiently characterize the targets, which may shed a new light on target identification of natural products.

Abstract:
Affected by the complex environment and the destruction of communication infrastructure in the disaster-stricken area, it has brought great challenges to the search and rescue team. The use of small unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) for search tasks can minimize casualties. Therefore, in order to avoid any possible collision and search for unknown targets in the shortest time, it is necessary to design a multi-UAV cooperative target search strategy. In this paper, we analyze the unknown target search problem of multi-UAVs under random dynamic topology and propose an adaptive target search strategy based on the whale algorithm. First of all, each UAV detects the environmental information of its current area and uses the probability map search algorithm to gain the target existence probability map in the task area. Then, the whale optimization search method of shrinking circle or spiral is selected to update the position of the UAV to continuously approach the target. Finally, the obstacle avoidance strategy based on artificial potential field is designed to solve any collision problems that may be encountered during the flight of UAVs. Simulations on multi-UAVs target search in different scenarios show that compared with the whale optimization algorithm, the proposed algorithm can reduce the search time by 43.1% and the total path cost by 18.1%, and it is also superior to the advanced metaheuristic optimization algorithms such as PSO and GWO.

Abstract:
The efficiency of target damage is to measure the effect of projectile attacks. Because there is antagonism at the intersection of projectiles and targets, it is very difficult to establish scientific damage assessment strategy model and a numerical calculation method. To scientifically evaluate the target damage effect when the projectile attacks the aircraft target, this paper introduces a game confrontation mechanism and proposes a numerical calculation method of aircraft target damage game strategy under the intersection confrontation. According to the theory of two-person non-cooperative games, the projectile is regarded as one of the players in the confrontation damage game, and the aircraft target is regarded as the other player. The damage gain model and gain function of the intersection confrontation of both sides are established. The effective expectation function and the minimum and maximum theorem are used to obtain the optimal Nash equilibrium solution of the game matrix strategy, and the Nash equilibrium point of the strategy space set is derived. Through calculation and comparative analysis, the results show that the optimal gain degree composed of the damage strategy selected by both the projectile and aircraft target under the Nash equilibrium solution brings the greatest gain. The proposed hybrid game strategy of damage assessment can be an effective reference for air combat decision making in the state of intersection confrontation.

We show that the centre of the orbit eventually converges to the target position using theoretical arguments and extensive simulation data. By using the same approach, we can solve the rendezvous problem: the team first scans an area in search of a target; as soon as one of the UAVs spots, the other components converge on the target position.

This paper presents an Eye-to-hand system, designed for hand-eye system presents a automatically real-time tracking of moving targets control strategy. The first strategy uses a color mark on the target, the use of binocular stereo vision system for color measurement and then in the visual system of the target three-dimensional reconstruction to give the three-dimensional coordinates in the visual coordinate system when the target position and orientation when changes according to the amount of change in the three-dimensional coordinates of the direct control of the robot arm motion of each joint, enabling the tracking of moving targets.

Abstract:
This paper presents deep RNN based FBF approach for the detection of moving target using the radar signatures. The FBF method is developed by the integration of fuzzy concept in the Bayesian fusion method. The FBF combines the results from the deep RNN, STFT, Fourier transform and matching filter to generate the final detection output from the received radar signal. The radar signatures are given as the input to the deep RNN for the detection of the target. Finally, the FBF combines the results from the deep RNN, STFT, Fourier transform and the matched filter to obtain the final decision regarding the detected target. The performance of the proposed deep RNN based FBF method is evaluated based on the metrics, like detection time, MSE and Missing target by varying the number of targets, antenna turn velocity, pulse repetition level, and the number of iterations. The proposed deep RNN based FBF method obtained a minimal detection time of 2.9551s, minimal MSE of 2683.80 and minimal Missing target rate of 0.0897, respectively.

Abstract:
A substantial fraction of the human genome is difficult to interrogate with short-read DNA sequencing technologies due to paralogy, complex haplotype structures, or tandem repeats. Long-read sequencing technologies, such as Oxford Nanopore’s MinION, enable direct measurement of complex loci without introducing many of the biases inherent to short-read methods, though they suffer from relatively lower throughput. This limitation has motivated recent efforts to develop amplification-free strategies to target and enrich loci of interest for subsequent sequencing with long reads. Here, we present CaBagE, a method for target enrichment that is efficient and useful for sequencing large, structurally complex targets. The CaBagE method leverages the stable binding of Cas9 to its DNA target to protect desired fragments from digestion with exonuclease. Enriched DNA fragments are then sequenced with Oxford Nanopore’s MinION long-read sequencing technology. Enrichment with CaBagE resulted in a median of 116X coverage (range 39–416) of target loci when tested on five genomic targets ranging from 4-20kb in length using healthy donor DNA. Four cancer gene targets were enriched in a single reaction and multiplexed on a single MinION flow cell. We further demonstrate the utility of CaBagE in two ALS patients with C9orf72 short tandem repeat expansions to produce genotype estimates commensurate with genotypes derived from repeat-primed PCR for each individual. With CaBagE there is a physical enrichment of on-target DNA in a given sample prior to sequencing. This feature allows adaptability across sequencing platforms and potential use as an enrichment strategy for applications beyond sequencing. CaBagE is a rapid enrichment method that can illuminate regions of the ‘hidden genome’ underlying human disease.
